Treatment presentation

- 2. Artist Choice - Barns Courtney The song we have chosen to use is Fire by Barns Courtney, this song has been used in the trailer for “Burnt” starring Bradley Cooper Burnt Trailer We chose the song because of the strong beat to it, which means we can incorporate the drum into and along with our concept
- 3. Concept We have chosen this song because it allowed us to have a song that worked well with our initial idea. The main concept of the music video is that we use paint powder to display emotions behind the music. We plan to use the pain powder on the drums in an enclosed environment. We will do this when the song picks up in the middle of it. At the start and various points of the song there is a few quieter moments and we plan to just have the two actors in a field/the river bank to display the audience that the mood is a bit calmer. We will not be using paint power in this part of the video.
- 4. Influences Madeon, The City is one of our biggest influences for the concept of the music video. In the video you can see that there is some kind of fight going on, where everyone is throwing paint powder at each other. We’re going to incorporate this idea into our video, in our song when the tempo changes we’re going to have paint powder on the drums so when they’re hit it will go up in the air. The actors will be wearing white t-shirts so the colour should show up on them really well Another influence comes from the video by The Slow Mo Guys, in this video you can see them cover a drum in paint powder and then hit it. The resulting effect is something we aim to look at during our project
- 5. Location ● A quiet field/by the boat house where the slow part of the song will be performed. Abandoned Garden centre The river bankThe river side pitches ● The more drum and base part of the song will be performed in an abandoned location ● One of the main reasons for choosing the abandoned garden centre for a locations is because we wanted to portray a aggressive tiempo. ● We have chosen a field and the river bank because we thought it would be good for the quite part of the song to portray being open and free

Mise-en-scene - Drum Kit - Mic stand - Microphone - Guitar - Black jeans and white t shirts - Paint Powder ● The drum kit will be required to be in our music video because it is a major part in the song and it plays a vital role with the paint powder. ● The mic stand and the microphone will be used together to create a contrast between the animalistic backgrounds of the abandoned garden centre and the lonely field. ● The guitar and the drums are the only two instruments required because they both feature in the song ● We have chosen to dress the two actors in black jeans because it is usually associated with the rockstar look. We have also elected to dress in white t shirts so that the paint powder will stand out. ● The Paint powder will only be used on the drum kit when the song changes tempo
- 7. Characters/artists During the music video we are going to have two characters, one playing the drums which is going to be George Emeny, the other is going to be playing the guitar and singing, this part is going to be played by Tom Scott. We chose Tom Scott because he is quite a rocky look about him, his hair has a messy look to it, which goes along well with the mise-en-scene of our music video. The original video has only Barns Courtney is in, where as for our video we have decided to use two characters, as this helps to establish our concept better
- 8. Target Audience Our target audience for this music video is going to be very similar to the original song by Barns Courtney. His original songs target audience was 14-20 for both male and female This is because the song has quite a strong beat to it, which appeals to people in this age gap, it is also quite a chilled out song, which again is something that appeals to a lot of younger people To establish our target audience we are going to conduct an online survey where we will ask people a series of questions to help establish who is most likely going to enjoy our music video
- 9. Secondary Research ● Barns Courtney is on spotify however he is one of the lesser known artist. He only has a few songs. Fire is his most popular by quite some way which makes him a bit of a one hit wonder. ● Barnes courtney is currently on tour around the world playing in major cities which shows that there a large demand for him.
- 10. Secondary Research ● Barns courtney is also in youtube with his music video. He has a relatively low 800,000 views. This is relatively low for a music video. ● We believe that his music video is pretty average and is simple and not very effective ● It looks like he has used a minimal budget to produce the video
- 11. Digipak Ideas ● We have the plan that we have the cd in the digipak as a the base drum after it has been hit with all the power. ● We have the plan that our digipak will have lots of colour
