Video has become ubiquitous on the Internet, TV, as well as personal devices. Recognition of video content has been a fundamental challenge in computer vision for decades, where previous research predominantly focused on recognizing videos using a predefined yet limited vocabulary. Thanks to the recent development of deep learning techniques, researchers in multiple communities are now striving to bridge videos with natural language in order to move beyond classification to interpretation, which should be regarded as the ultimate goal of video understanding. We will present recent advances in exploring the synergy of video understanding and language processing techniques.

James Imber, Senior Research Engineer at Imagination Technologies, presents the “High-fidelity Conversion of Floating-point Networks for Low-precision Inference using Distillation with Limited Data” tutorial at the May 2021 Embedded Vision Summit.
When converting floating-point networks to low-precision equivalents for high-performance inference, the primary objective is to maximally compress the network whilst maintaining fidelity to the original, floating-point network. This is made particularly challenging when only a reduced or unlabelled dataset is available. Data may be limited for reasons of a commercial or legal nature: for example, companies may be unwilling to share valuable data and labels that represent a substantial investment of resources; or the collector of the original dataset may not be permitted to share it for data privacy reasons.
Imber presents a method based on distillation that allows high-fidelity, low-precision networks to be produced for a wide range of different network types, using the original trained network in place of a labeled dataset. The proposed approach is directly applicable across multiple domains (e.g. classification, segmentation and style transfer) and can be adapted to numerous network compression techniques.
How can you handle defects? If you are in a factory, production can produce objects with defects. Or values from sensors can tell you over time that some values are not "normal". What can you do as a developer (not a Data Scientist) with .NET o Azure to detect these anomalies? Let's see how in this session.
Come puoi gestire i difetti?
The presentation is made on CNN's which is explained using the image classification problem, the presentation was prepared in perspective of understanding computer vision and its applications. I tried to explain the CNN in the most simple way possible as for my understanding. This presentation helps the beginners of CNN to have a brief idea about the architecture and different layers in the architecture of CNN with the example. Please do refer the references in the last slide for a better idea on working of CNN. In this presentation, I have also discussed the different types of CNN(not all) and the applications of Computer Vision.
An illustrative introduction on CNN.
Maybe one of the most visually understandable but precise slide on CNN in your life.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
