Educational data mining (EDM) is one of the applications of data mining. In educational data mining, there are two key domains, i.e. student domain and faculty domain. Different type of research work has been done in both domains.
In existing system the faculty performance has calculated on the basis of two parameters i.e. Student feedback and the result of student in that subject. In existing system we define two approaches one is multiple classifier approach and the other is a single classifier approach and comparing them, for relative evaluation of faculty performance using data mining
Techniques. In multiple classifier approach K-nearest neighbor (KNN) is used in first step and Rule based classification is used in the second step of classification while in single classifier approach only KNN is used in both steps of classification.
But in proposed system, I will analyse the faculty performance using 4 parameters i.e., student complaint about faculty, Student review feedback for faculty, students feedback, and students result etc.
For this proposed system I will be going to use opinion mining technique for analyzing performance of faculty and calculating score of each faculty.

Abstract: Data mining techniques are applied to predict college failure and bum of the student. This is method uses real data on middle-school students for prediction of failure and drop out. It implements white-box classification strategies, like induction rules and decision trees or call trees. Call tree could be a call support tool that uses tree-like graph or a model of call and their possible consequences. A call tree is a flowchart-like structure in which internal node represents a "test" on an attribute. Attribute is the real information of students that is collected from college in middle or pedagogy, each branch represents the outcome of the test and each leaf node represents a class label. The paths from root to leaf represent classification rules and it consists of three kinds of nodes which incorporates call node, likelihood node and finish node. It is specifically used in call analysis. Using this technique to boost their correctness for predicting which students might fail or dropout (idler) by first, using all the accessible attributes next, choosing the most effective attributes. Attribute choice is done by using WEKA tool.

There are more than 15 million college students in the US alone. Academic advising for courses and scholarships is typically performed by human advisors, bringing an immense managerial workload to faculty members, as well as other staff at universities. This paper reports and discusses the development of two educational expert systems at a private international university. The first expert system is a course advising system which recommends courses to undergraduate students. The second system suggests scholarships to undergraduate students based on their eligibility. While there have been reported systems for course advising, the literature does not seem to contain any references to expert systems for scholarship recommendation and eligibility checking. Therefore the scholarship recommender that we developed is first of its kind. Both systems have been implemented and tested using Oracle Policy Automation (OPA) software.

students and an emerging increase of universities both public and private. Management of Universities face challenges and concerns of
predicting students’ academic performance in to put mechanisms in place prior enough for their improvement. This research aims at
employing Decision tree and K-means data mining algorithms to model an approach to predict the performance of students in advance
so as to devise mechanisms of alleviating student dropout rates and improve on performance. In Kenya for example, there has been
witnessed an increase student enrolling in universities since the Government started free primary education. Therefore the Government
expects an increased workforce of professionals from these institutions without compromising quality so as to achieve its millennium
development and vision 2030. Backlog of students not finishing their studies in stipulated time due to poor performance is another
issue that can be addressed from the results of this research since predicting student performance in advance will enable University
management to devise ways of assisting weak students and even make more decisions on how to select students for particular courses.
Previous studies have been done Educational Data Mining mostly focusing on factors affecting students’ performance and also used
different algorithms in predicting students’ performance. In all these researches, accuracy of prediction is key and what researchers
look forward to try and improve.

The current tight competition in developing University websites forces developers to create better products that meet users needs and convinient. There are at least two factors representing university websites; accessibility and usability. We test three criteria of accessibility and usability that are called stickiness, backlink, and web page loading time. Usability and accessibility are closely related to subjective user judgments. Human judgment cannot be valid. Thus the use of fuzzy numbers are expected to provide solutions in calculating the results. In this research, the question of usability is a multi criteria decision-making problem that is caused by its complex structure. We use the Logarithmic Fuzzy Preference Programming (LFPP) method, which is a refinement of the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process method, to solve this problem. This research aims to re- assess the rank of five Indonesian university websites. Based on LFPP method, we obtain that the equation of model gets high consistency of the set priority matching to fuzzy pairwise comparison matrix of three selection criteria. The calculation results show that stickiness is the most significant factor that affects the quality of the websites.
Data mining in higher education university student dropout case study
In this paper, we apply different data mining approaches for the purpose of examining and predicting students’ dropouts through their university programs. For the subject of the study we select a total of 1290 records of computer science students Graduated from ALAQSA University between 2005 and 2011. The
collected data included student study history and transcript for courses taught in the first two years of
computer science major in addition to student GPA , high school average , and class label of (yes ,No) to
indicate whether the student graduated from the chosen major or not. In order to classify and predict
dropout students, different classifiers have been trained on our data sets including Decision Tree (DT),
Naive Bayes (NB). These methods were tested using 10-fold cross validation. The accuracy of DT, and NlB
classifiers were 98.14% and 96.86% respectively. The study also includes discovering hidden relationships
between student dropout status and enrolment persistence by mining a frequent cases using FP-growth
algorithm.

The purpose of this Programme Exit Survey (PES) was to provide data to gauge perceptions of various aspects of programmes and services offered and to identify areas where improvements may be needed in the Department of Electronic Engineering (Computer) JKE, Politeknik Kota Kinabalu (PKK). This PES was conducted on 21 final semester students, graduating from Diploma in Electronic Engineering (Computer) (DTK). They were the second Cohort whose intake was in December 2010. The survey questionnaire had five main sections: respondents’ profile; assessment of overall quality; assessment of skills and knowledge; assessment of Lecturers and Academic Advisor; and assessment of academic resources and facilities. All the data were analysed using the Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) software version IBM SPSS Statistics 19.0. For the assessment of the overall quality, attribute for teaching and learning experience was rated 100% with “excellent”, “very good” and “good”. Skills and knowledge section was evaluated by relating the statements with nine items as stated in the Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO). All the PLOs’ were marked at least “good” by 98% of the students. Assessment on lecturers and academic advisor were rated 33.3% as “excellent” and 57.1% as “very good”. In terms of academic resources and facilities, the access to Wi-Fi had the highest unsatisfactory concerned from the respondent whereby 28.6% rated the item as “weak”.

Programme Exit Survey (PES) Report
The purpose of this Programme Exit Survey (PES) was to provide data to gauge perceptions of various aspects of programmes and services offered and to identify areas where improvements may be needed in the Department of Electronic Engineering (Computer) JKE, Politeknik Kota Kinabalu (PKK). This PES was conducted on 21 final semester students, graduating from Diploma in Electronic Engineering (Computer) (DTK). They were the second Cohort whose intake was in December 2010. The survey questionnaire had five main sections: respondents’ profile; assessment of overall quality; assessment of skills and knowledge; assessment of Lecturers and Academic Advisor; and assessment of academic resources and facilities. All the data were analysed using the Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) software version IBM SPSS Statistics 19.0. For the assessment of the overall quality, attribute for teaching and learning experience was rated 100% with “excellent”, “very good” and “good”. Skills and knowledge section was evaluated by relating the statements with nine items as stated in the Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO). All the PLOs’ were marked at least “good” by 98% of the students. Assessment on lecturers and academic advisor were rated 33.3% as “excellent” and 57.1% as “very good”. In terms of academic resources and facilities, the access to Wi-Fi had the highest unsatisfactory concerned from the respondent whereby 28.6% rated the item as “weak”.
STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE PREDICTION SYSTEM USING MULTI AGENT DATA MINING TECHNIQUE

The efficiency examination of teaching of different normalization methods

This document discusses the development and implementation of a conference mentoring program for the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). It was inspired by a similar program at the American Library Association. The development of computer and technological literacy is a significant predictor for success in the workplace and is also one of the key skills that the polytechnic provides through its programmes to students and faculty. This paper explores how computer literacy and skills are acquired by educators and students through International Computer Driving License (ICDL) tools employed at Bahrain Polytechnic. The study also considers the challenges that hinder learners from completing the requirements of ICDL. If adequate numbers of faculty and students have already learned basic computer skills, then the question facing the polytechnic is if computer literacy should continue to be taught at all levels. To answer this question, ICDL tests were administered to ascertain the computer literacy level of existing faculty and students. The results of the tests will determine which ICDL tests students and faculty should be placed on in order to address their computer literacy needs.

This report summarizes the initial activities of the SMUDIE project from November 2011 to January 2012. Key activities included establishing the project team, conducting interviews with stakeholders, and beginning to model the student information systems. all academic measures were recorded into the database system, over the years it accumulated to a large
amount. Data were forgotten, archived at the least. Then came educational data mining, with all its ability.
Unknown and hidden data patterns of Nursing Informatics and accompanying subjects were extracted and
analyzed using the same database grading system of Omar Al-Mukhtar University College of Nursing
known as OMUCON-GSv1. Getting started with mining by employing database management methods and
implementations like Structured Query Language to form a query, filter, pivot table and pivot chart, the
system and the research generated valuable findings. The result of the study showed a favorable academic
performance by the students of nursing and so with the ranking they got for Nursing Informatics. Overall
the OMUCON-GSv1 can generate helpful and meaningful data as it promoted simple educational data
mining. A vital element in the improvement of quality education for the College. Further study and advance
data mining approach were recommended to greatly improve the outcome.

1. Background
MOBIlearn was a large, multinational European-funded research and development
project that explored new ways to use mobile environments to meet the needs of
learners, working by themselves and with others. The aim of the project was to
develop a new m-learning architecture for a pedagogically-sound mobile learning
environment, and to evaluate an instantiation of that architecture using existing
technologies. A user-centred approach was taken to the project, based on socio-
cognitive engineering (Sharples et al, 2002) and embedded in ISO 13407. The project
team consisted of representatives from more than 15 organisations from seven
European countries plus one Middle Eastern country. Establishing the requirements
for such a project was a complex task, involving many methods and notations. The
project produced several documents and results; some of these are available at
http://www.mobilearn.org. Publications specifically related to mobile learning are

This case study draws only on work from the user requirements and evaluation
workpackage to explore the use of scenarios throughout the project and the use of the
Volere shell and template (Robertson and Robertson, 2006) to document the
requirements.
The next section introduces the three strands used as learning domains throughout the
project. Section 3 describes the use of scenarios throughout the project and Section 4
discusses the use of Volere shells and the technology to support them. In Section 5 we
conclude by making some observations about our experiences.
2. The three strands
The project chose three learning domains to drive the research, each of which
represents a distinct learning situation. These are: the Museum strand, the MBA
strand and the Health strand. Data gathering for establishing requirements was
conducted by a different project partner, each strand used different data gathering
techniques, and each produced its own set of requirements which needed to be
rationalised. The three strands and their respective data gathering techniques are
outlined below.

An Analysis Of Telemedicine In Taiwan A Business Model Perspective
This study analyzed six major telemedicine projects in Taiwan using a business model perspective. The analysis generated propositions regarding the relationships between a telemedicine project's value proposition, service processes, cost structure, and customer acceptance. The key findings were that a project's value proposition and available partnerships, resources, and capabilities affect its service processes, which in turn impact its cost structure and potential for customer acceptance. Specifically, more complex service offerings and less experienced partners tended to increase costs. Leveraging existing resources and partnerships was found to help lower costs and increase acceptance. The study concluded that while costs of operating telemedicine services are currently high, they may be reduced by modifying elements of the business model like value propositions, service processes, or partnerships
Predictive and Statistical Analyses for Academic Advisory Support
The ability to recognize students’ weakness and solving any problem may confront them in timely fashion is
always a target of all educational institutions. This study was designed to explore how can predictive and
statistical analysis support the academic advisor’s work mainly in analysis students’ progress. The sample
consisted of a total of 249 undergraduate students; 46% of them were Female and 54% Male. A one-way
analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t-test were conducted to analysis if there was different behaviour in
registering courses. Predictive data mining is used for support advisor in decision making. Several
classification techniques with 10-fold Cross-validation were applied. Among of them, C4.5 constitutes the
best agreement among the finding results.

As long ago as 1995, an American Nurses Association
position statement supported the ‘‘computerization of
health information,’’ including computerized patient
records and the simultaneous collection of aggregate
patient care and outcome data.1 The Institute of Medi-
cine (IOM)2 brought the need for computerization to
the forefront when it reported on preventable medical
errors in 1999, errors that cost the nation between $17
and $29 billion and contributed to between 44 000 and
98 000 patient deaths annually. Noting that many of
the errors could have been prevented by automated
medication systems, a later IOM report called for the
implementation of a healthcare information infrastruc-
ture including automated patient records and drug
ordering systems.3
While healthcare systems are not yet fully automated,
nurses need to use computers and software to function
in their jobs. However, most working nurses gradu-
ated before computers and nursing informatics were
integrated into curricula and many did not return for
additional formal education that might have taught
them about those subjects. The latest National Sam-
ple Survey of Registered Nurses (2000) showed the
average age of nurses working in nursing to be 43.3
years, with 68% of the nurses older than 40 years.
Only 19% of survey respondents reported continuing
their formal nursing education after initial licensure,
with the most commonly achieved degree being the
baccalaureate.4 Thus, the job of educating nurses
to work with computers and computerized patient
records falls to employers and the purveyors of con-
tinuing education. This article describes a university-
based community project offering asynchronous online

Asynchronous online tutorials using PowerPoint
slides with accompanying audio to teach prac-
ticing nurses about computers and nursing
informatics were designed for this project,
which awarded free continuing education units
to completers. Participants had control over the
advancement of slides, with the ability to repeat
when desired. Graphics were kept to a mini-
mum; thus, the program ran smoothly on com-
puters using dial-up modems. The tutorials
were marketed in live meetings and through
e-mail messages on nursing listservs. Findings
include that the enrollment process must be
automated and instantaneous, the program
must work from every type of computer and
Internet connection, marketing should be live
and electronic, and workshops should be
offered to familiarize nurses with the online
learning system.

Assignment Cover Page.
• The assignment must be in MS Word format, 1.5 spacing, 11-pt Calibri (Body) font
and 2 cm margins on all four sides of your page with appropriate section headings.
• Reference sources must be cited in the text of the report, and listed appropriately
at the end in a reference list using IEEE referencing style.
Extension • If an extension of time to submit work is required, a Special Consideration
Application must be submitted directly to the School's Administration Officer, in
Melbourne on Level 6 or in Sydney on Level 7. You must submit this application
three working days prior to the due date of the assignment.
