25. Agricultural Waste is composed of organic
wastes (animal excreta in the form of
slurries and farmyard manures, spent
mushroom compost, soiled water and
silage effluent.
It includes:
- Crop waste (residuals of crops, rice hulls,
corn stalks)
- Animal waste (animal manure, Livestock
wastes)
- Hazardous waste (chemicals, pesticides
insecticides)
26. Types of Wastes:
1. Organic refers to the residue of plants,
animals and microbes or waste materials
naturally generated from all living things
2. Inorganic are chemical substances of
mineral origin
Farm Waste refers to any material that is
unwanted and unvalued and discarded by its
owner.

- Paints
- animal medicines
- vehicle batteries
- electrical parts

32. Impact of on-farm waste disposal
Burning is the common waste disposal
method for both domestic rubbish and farm
rubbish. What you burn, how you burn, and when
you burn affects the human health and the
environment as it releases hazardous and toxic
substances into the air and leaves as a
concentrated ashy residue.
Burying produces leachate when
percolating water and other liquids pick up heavy
metals and decomposing organic wastes and if
collected it can contaminate our water and soil.
33. Benefits of collecting farm wastes
➢ Reduced costs through processes and
purchasing
➢ Reduced pollution by no longer burying or
burning rubbish
➢ Environmental benefits- reduced energy
consumption, conservation of natural
resources, extension of landfill capacity
➢ Demonstrate social responsibility and
environment awareness
➢ Protecting the environment for present and
future generations
34. Methods of Wastes Disposal
Landfill is the most common practice of waste
disposal and focuses attention on burying the waste
in the land.
Incineration/ Combustion is a method in which
municipal solid wastes are burned at high
temperatures so as to convert them to into
residue and gaseous products.
Recovery is the process of taking useful
discarded items for the next specific use.
Recycling is the process of converting waste
products into new products.

to health and to the environment.
39. I. Directions: Make your own garbage bins at home with labels and take
a picture of it then attach it upon submission. For those who have no
cellphones or any means of taking pictures simply make an illustration of
how you practice proper waste disposal at home. Use short size bond
paper for this activity.
