The Noetic perspective (from Greek: noetikos- mental; nous- mind) identifies the [human] mind as the nexus of the future evolution of humanity. At present, human evolution is a mental process rather than biological or technological process.
The Noetic model describes mind as a relation generating complex system arising as a product of biological evolution and manifesting certain defining characteristics such as systemic closure, self reference, plasticity, etc. This model aims to integrate a systemic view with the mental constructs of the subjective plane. According to the Noetic model, human identity is a dynamic constructive process that brings forth the human observer as the subject of its perceptive and mental states. This process is identified as mind. Images and narratives are the elements encompassing the experiential and mental aspects of the identity process as they appear to the human observer.
The idea of mind as the theater of evolutionary processes is further explored: Mind as a complex system can essentially be disassociated from the historical conditions of its emergence; therefore it is virtually unbound in its evolutionary potential. This has deep implications on the understanding of human nature and the human condition. Finally, the ideas of openness and freedom beyond utility are proposed as futuristic directives of consciously guided evolution of mind.
Archetypal Pattern. Fundamentals Of Non-Traditional Psychoanalysis. Chapter 3.
An image is archetypal only when it is an individual value, which through natural analogs allows a person to learn about himself, obtain information about his individual qualities recorded in the individual structure of psyche, which ultimately allows a person to legalize his own innate qualities.
The authors reason that logically an archetype in its traditional consideration cannot be that prototype (preimage), which, as an initial idea, determines the individual human psyche because by definition it belongs to culture—it is its artifact. Consequently, according to existing semantics, an archetype can be anything except an archetype as an idea. This scientific paper examines whether semantics of an archetype in its traditional sense corresponds to the concept of “an image” if an image is considered in terms of “a copy”, ”a duplicate”; can an archetype of culture be seriously considered as something that directly forms individual human psyche, as a structure that appeared long before symbolism?
The authors think that not every image is archetypal because not every image is equal to prototype (preimage), as an initial idea corresponding to the concept of “an archetype.” An image is archetypal only when it is an individual value, which, through natural analogues, allows a person to learn about his own self and learn about his individual qualities, recorded in the individual structure of psyche, which, as a result, provides a person with a possibility to legalize his own innate qualities.

Abstract
This presentation is based on research into creative process. Findings indicate that there are infinite numbers of creative process, and therefore infinite ways that insight happens. Creative process vary from one individual to another and also within each individual. Furthermore, there is an alchemical quality to flow creative process that is unaccounted for in neuroscience. This alchemical quality is apparent when chaos theory is applied to analyze the emergent nature of creativity.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

4. The Noetic perspective:The mind is the nexus of future human evolution. Noetic: derived from Greek: noētikos - νοητικός - mental, nous - νοῦς - mind.
8. These processes originate in our minds, in our perceptual and cognitive processes, in our concepts, in the manner we interact with the environment and with each other, in our worldviews, visions and aspirations.
9.
10. In the light of tremendous advances in science and technology, many of our expectations regarding the transformation of human condition are eluding us. Perhaps because we fail to properly address the source of all human activity – the mind. It seems that the deeper existential riddles that we encounter at this point of human history need a fresh perspective.
11. The alternative Noetic view: Conscious transformation of the mind should become the nexus of future human evolution.
17. Fundamental to the human mind is the underlying biological organization that give rise to a conscious observer as the subject of his mental states.
28. The dynamic Noetic pattern is in a continuous process of recursive self description/representation bringing forth human identity – the dynamic knowledge of being someone. This is the human identity process. The mental constructs constitutive to human identity, appear in two major generic species: image and narrative. Image (definition): An image is a gestalt perception of a human, both individual and collective, in relation to the self, others, society, and the cosmos.
29.
30. Images are related associatively and the associative links between images codify their relative meaning for the observer.
31. The dynamic space spawned by images is the identity space, the state space of human-constructed reality.
32. A coherent image might be held by any individual or group, a political system, a religion, a society, or a civilization.
33.
34. While images highlight the organizational features of mental constructs, narratives highlight their temporal and causative unfoldment in the identity process.
36. In telling stories, they create images of themselves.
37. These images realize the ethos of human existence – the human existential narrative.
38. Mind - summary Our very conception of mind is a complex dynamic image. Mind therefore is a self generative and self referential construct. Mind as the dynamic identity process modulates and is modulated by the interactions of the human organism with its environment (including other minds). Mind, therefore, cannot be located in the brain. It is rather a holistic and all pervading happening that transgresses the spatio-temporal boundaries. From the standpoint of a human observer, images and narratives constitute the mind as a fully immersive identity space. As observers, we never leave this space.
39. Examples Much of human psychology and politics reflect the drama of the Noetic theater and the dynamic identity process: “Hence there is a thin line between the organization of the nervous system and the political and social organization that both condition and is conditioned by human experience.” [What should we do with our brains?, Catherine Malabou, 2008]
40. Images on the brink of transformation The relation of mankind with nature - An image of interconnectivity of all life, the holistic nature of the biosphere and the value of balance and sustainability replace the Judeo-Christian image of the human as being removed from nature and by godly mandate being the master of nature. The concept of death – The image of death as a universal inevitable condition of existence changes into a treatable health condition.
41. Images that strongly resist change Free will – The idea does not stand philosophical scrutiny. It serves, however, a currently irreplaceable function in the manner we understand human agency, in human relations and social organization. Even if, factually, we do not have free will, in many aspects, at present we are better off describing ourselves as if we do. Individual selfhood – ‘Being someone’ is perhaps the most powerful image that governs the human identity process. Though the existence of ‘self’ is refuted by a wide spectrum of arguments from Buddhist philosophy to contemporary works (such as Metzinger’s “Being no one”), this image is deeply entrenched in our psyche, in our language, in our relations and primary cultural patterns.
42. The image of human nature What are the images and narratives we apply to our own identity process? (the image of our image) What is our evolutionary potential and how to think about it? Are we free or bound by blind forces that shape who and what we are? “We have made you a creature neither of heaven nor of earth, neither mortal nor immortal, in order that you may, as the free and proud shaper of your own being, fashion yourself in the form you may prefer.” [Oration on the Dignity of Man, Pico Della Mirandolla,1486]
43. Mind and evolution Evolution (working definition): A systemic process of semi organized and open-ended variation taking place under given sets of constraints and degrees of freedom. What distinguishes evolution? It is neither an entirely random nor entirely deterministic (computationally tractable) variation. It is open ended in the sense that it follows no predesigned goal or end result. as long as the constraints are satisfied. It ‘discovers’ interesting unexpected variations within the system’s state space that expand the state space of the system.
44. Evolution of mind is an expansion of identity The process of variation of identity that results in the discovery of interesting images, concepts or narratives that bring about an expansion of identity - a significant expansion of the repertoire of states and interactions available in identity space. The systemic components being the subject of the evolutionary process are the ‘units’ of evolution. These are the elements undergoing variation. According to the Noetic perspective, the units of evolution are mental constructs, namely, the images and narratives that populate our identity space and their corresponding Noetic patterns.
45.
46. They constitute simplified representations and abstractions of the overall stream of interactions of the organism with the environment.
47.
48. The future direction of evolution Apparently, realizing the evolutionary potential of humanity has to do with realizing the freedom inherent in the mind. How can we pursue this freedom? Openness is a design strategy for our individual and collective identity space. It is applied by consciously reforming images and narratives. Openness is achieved in the elimination of constraints, in admitting no closed contours and giving up complete, final distinctions. In openness, endpoints and borders are always provisional.
49.
50. Openness eliminates the need to affirm one’s own identity by diminishing or rejecting the different.
51.
52. What might we ‘do’ with freedom beyond utility? The freedom emerging from the Noetic perspective is a kind of freedom that is continuously realized in the conscious aesthetic choices made in the expansion of identity. We will realize freedom by becoming fluid aesthetic beings, our identity becoming an ongoing artistic creation.
53. Aesthetic choice An aesthetic choice is not compliant to the currently ongoing narrative. Often it would be an act of departure, distinction, even rebellion against the order at play. A true aesthetic choice is unique and unpredictable in its uniqueness. Since it is not supported by, or coherent with existing images, it invites a special kind of sensibility (and responsibility) to be associated with the freedom that allows it. I would call this special sensibility commitment. One does not simply identifies with an aesthetic choice, one becomes consciously committed to it and by that brings forth a new kind of identity.
54. If we change the image we change the world. (WimWenders)
