This document discusses a dissertation that seeks to understand how presence and insight act as pivot points in creative and self-organizing systems. It explores how states like presence, flow, and insight relate to creativity and the creative process based on the author's experience with yoga, meditation, and painting. The dissertation examines literature on flow states, insight, meditation, chaos theory, and dependent origination to develop a model of creativity as an emergent and non-linear process requiring presence and surrender. Key findings include that creative processes vary individually and change over time in a way that is difficult to systematically study.
