This document discusses thinking skills and the importance of developing evaluative thinking. It introduces various thinking tools, including observation skills, distinguishing facts from opinions, considering different points of view, and challenging the reliability of claims. The presentation emphasizes developing tolerance by listening to other perspectives and evaluating information critically rather than accepting all claims at face value. The goal is to equip future leaders with strong thinking abilities.

Overview of User Research for Design and DevelopmentFITC
Presented by Michelle Yaiser
In Boston on Nov 7-8, 2013 at FITC's Web Unleashed 2013 event
Good research is critical to ensuring the success of the experiences you design and develop. But research doesn’t have to be costly or take a long time; by conducting even small, quick research projects, you’ll learn more about who your audiences are, what they want and what they need. You’ll discover what your users really think about your project and what you never knew about how they use it. Armed with this knowledge, you’ll save time and money on both design and development.
In this session, Michelle will discuss the core user research methods and tools available. She will also talk about how to use multiple research methods in a project to get more valuable results. Finally, attendees will learn the questions to ask that help determine which methods to use and when.
A necessary skills that managers need to be equipped with. This workshop is only 3 hours including a group case study. If you need the case study material you may pm me.
In this presentation, discussions are made over the definitions of critical thinking, historical development of critical thinking domain, critical thinking skills, critical thinking goals, and the heart of critical thinking- Socratic Questions.
Working as a UX designer or researcher can be incredibly stressful. Our work is constantly subject to intense scrutiny and debate from clients and colleagues. If we're consultants, we have the added pressure of constantly proving our worth to clients. If we're in-house, we may have to get along with and even prove the value of UX to other departments. Even the fast pace and ill-defined nature of the field itself can lead to stress: we can suffer from impostor syndrome and general insecurity about where we fit in our own profession. In this talk I take a frank look at common UX stressors and, most importantly, discuss ways to address them. Become better prepared to handle a UXer's everyday challenges, and take away a myriad of ways to improve your emotional wellbeing.

Evolving Changes of Leadership: Navigating ComplexityLeland Sandler
cAs companies grow, and as leaders take on higher levels of responsibility, they must deal with more and more complexity. Not just a complicated set of problems, but often unpredictable, overwhelming complexity; with lots of moving parts, many interrelated forces, and a whole host of perspectives and opinions of the stakeholders around them. Consequently, leaders need to be ever more agile and fluid in navigating the challenges and uncertainties of their world. Leaders need to think differently so that they can act differently.
In this presentation, Birgit introduces the topic of communication styles, while putting it into context of our profession. She will show how you can identify our own style and that of others and how that helps to be heard by various stakeholders during the process. She will explain the different communication and behavioral needs, and why you need to be able to flex our own style to that of others: this helps you to avoid conflicts, it increases your impact on projects, and it will also contribute to a prosperous work environment.

"To know, is good. To live, is better. To be, that is perfect." - The Mother
During the Agile adoption, its a common complain that many team in many organizations get caught up in the ceremonies or mechanics of Agile and fail to understand/appreciate the true value and spirit of Agile. And because of this, the original intent of the Agile movement itself is lost. This is a serious issue!
This workshop will highlight, a well-proven approach to transformation (not adoption) and show the distinct steps in this journey that an individual or a collective goes through when learning anything new. Activities, serving as examples, in the workshop, will focus to show the journey - that is, how to begin with rituals, then gradually move to practices, arriving at principles and eventually internalizing the values. Witnessing this gradual process of transformation will help participants discover for themselves their current progression. We hope this will serve as a guiding light during their Agile journey.
Finally, we will leave the participants to ponder upon and discover for themselves their ideals in life and work as this is not only applicable to software development, but also to any discipline where humans are involved, including life itself.

Talk by Sue Johnston and Declan Whelan at Agile & Beyond, Ypsilanti, MI, May 5, 2016
The stereotype of engineers and technical professionals as inarticulate, socially inept geniuses inventing problems to solve is not just unkind. It's inaccurate. (OK, maybe not the "genius" part.) Yet the Dilbert image persists. So do jokes like the one about the engineer sentenced to death on the guillotine, who watches the instrument of death malfunction, then tells the operators how to fix it. In this interactive session, we'll show a little empathy for engineers and other analytical folk whose neurological wiring makes them seem different from the rest of humanity. We'll also explore how those with the engineering mindset can consciously adopt behaviours that amplify their value to their teams and organizations - and make their lives easier by positioning themselves for understanding. The analytical mind is particularly valuable when we can turn it off and adopt the perspective of the person we're talking with. Technical professionals are excellent at finding solutions to problems. Unfortunately, searching for the perfect solution to the interesting problem we see can prevent us from seeing other problems that stand in the way of value for others. True collaboration and value creation invite us to see through the lenses of end users and sponsors and help them connect the dots. In this interactive presentation, you will discover: - how to make your ideas meaningful to others by taking their perspective - how shifting your language from "What?" to "So What?" helps people connect your dots - why giving up the need to be smart may be the smartest thing you ever do Join Declan, a professional engineer and developer, and Sue, a communication coach, in a lively discussion of what can happen when engineers and technical professionals shift their mindset from solving problems to creating impact.
The presentation will introduce you to the different ways teachers can help learners to be better prepared for life in the 21st century. There are many ideas which teachers are already using every day such as Global Awareness and Cross Curricular Skills, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Communication and Collaboration. The author of the presentation reflects on how we can develop such skills while teaching English to our students.
In this presentation, we tried to cover all the information regarding Reverse Osmosis technology. We have discussed its different types, major parts of Reverse Osmosis i.e Activated Carbon Bed, Ion Exchange Unit, Cartridge Filter and then at the end design steps of Reverse Osmosis.
