The Process of Photosynthesis and Practicals
Introduction One of the most important bological processes on earth is photosynthesis. Plants that
comprise the majority of the food we consume need photosynthesis in order to produce life
sustaining energy. This energy is harnessed by the sun. If it were not for photosynthesis to capture
and use this vital energy, life itself would be minimal or almost non existent. Photosynthesis
entails a process that involves complex and fundamental actions that occur in plants, algae as well
as some bacteria. They use sunlight to produce carbohydrates. Oxygen is then created from carbon
dioxide (CO2) and water (Jackson, 2008). The carbohydrates created through photosynthesis
enables growth and normal functioning for the plant to sustain life. Here is an example of a
formulation of photosynthesis by Campbell et al. Light 6CO2 + 6H20 6 (CH2O) + 6O2
Chlorophyll (Campbell et al. 2009) Chloroplasts are the main place for photosynthesis to occur in
plants occurs. Chloroplasts are important organelles, and can be found within plant cells. The
structure of chloroplasts are complex networks of sacs. These are called thylakoids. Chlorophyll.
located within the membranes of thylakoids, give color to plants (Campbell et al. 2009).
Cholrophyll is a key component in allowing most photosynthesis. Chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b
are the two forms within chlorophyll. Along with chlorophylls, chloroplasts contain other
photosynthesising pigments. These are called carotene

Odette s Swan Lake
On the exposed hillsides of the Tsagayan Formation located in Kundur, Russia, a team of
paleontologists discovered an almost complete skeleton of a hadrosaurid showing an extensive
infection spreading into the shoulders, seemingly stemming from a repaired, but misfigured,
fracture in her left front leg. Another piece left behind shows faintly scarred over skin if looked at
closely. Surrounding fossils include turtles, protoceratops, and crocodiles. This specimen,
discovered to be an Olorotitan, which means giant swan, named so for their longer than normal
necks like that of a swan, would be named Odette, from the ballet Swan Lake. This discovery of
this sample, proved to have a traumatic lifestyle as a juvenile until their death, allows us... Show

Instead of retreating to her own herd with her disfigured and still painful leg, she followed other
species of dinosaurs which she could keep up with. A small herd of protoceratops, goat sized
herbivores with beaks and frills, lead her to a clearing in the forest with small pterosaurs as well
as mammals. Full of white and yellow flowers and modern trees such as maples, beeches, oaks, and
others such as metasequoia with gnarled bark.
Notwithstanding how peaceful recent weeks were, Odette s youthful days would soon be over.
The inflammation, pain, and a recently developed fever had slowed her down from the typical
style of life made for travel. Previously, she had halted many times before, albeit this would be
her last stop at the swamps as she rolled over onto the firm bank of the pond, crushing much life
beneath her. She sighed heavily, the life seemingly escaping from her, rolling over for the last time
before she made her final departure into a permanent realm of

Mr. Williams And The Music Of Music And Film
John Williams once said so much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by
ourselves, so it s gratifying to have something you have done linger in people s memories and
linger it did. Mr. Williams has made significant contributions to the arts of music and film. To fully
understand the gravity of his achievements and their affect on humanity, we must first look at the
progression of sound in film; the effect music has in film and its audience; and lastly his
accomplishments of music and film.
In the infancy of film, movies were silent but not without sound. To make film a more pleasant
experience, music was provided to cover up the ambient noise of the projector and help create an
agreeable atmosphere, often by the use of a solo piano. (Fischoff, S. (2005)). The musician
generally improvised playing mostly a variety of popular romantic and melodramatic scores of the
late nineteenth century (such as William Tell Overture, Ride of the Valkyrie, Les Preludes, etc.) as
long as it accompanied the action/scene or enhanced the mood (for dramatic effect). ( From Scene
to Shining Screen: A Short History of Film Music . para. 1 2. (n.d.)). As film grew in popularity and
length, so did the musical accompaniment adding instruments to the ensemble until even some
theaters were housing full orchestras. By the end of the silent era, the industry had completely
shifted from the all purpose improve music of the solo pianist, to exact musical scores written

Analysis Of Jane Hirshfield s Poem Tree
Jane Hirshfield connects to nature at her home in Marin County, California this is where she
gets her inspiration for her poems. Hirshfield published Tree in 2000 as a free verse poem,
divided into 4 stanzas and 4 sentences to convey the nature world. The poem represents a young
redwood (line 2) growing near a house, near a kitchen window. The redwood is already scraping
against the window frame of the house, reminding the reader of the foolish (line 1) idea of
letting it grow there. Humans were created to be one with nature, but as they evolved as a
species, they were obligated to choose between the materialistic world or the world of nature.
Hirshfield writes this poem in second person to give life to the poem so that the poem speaks to
the reader. The poem starts by accusing the reader of letting the redwood grow near the house. It
is foolish (line 1) lets the reader know that nature should not be growing this close to your home.
Hirshfield takes the liberty to talk straight to the reader through the speaker in telling them that it
is nonsense to let nature be so close to a material object such as a house. The reader can visually
see a young redwood// grow next to a house (line 2, 3). The tree starts to symbolize the beauty of
nature growing against the materialistic world. A new sentence leads into the second stanza to
introduce a new idea; it shifts the attention of the poem from the imagery of the redwood growing
against the house to the shortness of the

Battle Of The Yarmuk Essay
The early Islamic Empire expanded through military conquest, respect, and bribery. In Battle of
the Yarmuk by Al Biladuri, it says, In this battle 24,000 Muslims took part. By Allah s help,
some 70,000 of them [the Greeks] were put to death. The Muslims fought the Greeks violently
and showed us how they were able to conquer new land by military conquest. The Muslims had
fought as one with each other to protect themselves and expand their empire. In the Treaty of
Tudmir , it was a treaty between Abd al Aziz, the commander of the Muslim forces, and
Theodemir, who is the Christian king of a region in Southern Spain. Abd al Aziz wanted a non
violent, peaceful agreement with Theodemir. According to the treaty, it states, His followers will
not be killed or taken prisoner, nor will they be separated from their women and children. They
will not be coerced in matters of religion, their churches will not be burned, nor will sacred objects
be taken from the realm. This shows that this treaty enabled the empire to show respect for Spain,

The Four Pillars Of Analytical Competition
Within the Four Pillars of Analytical Competition as described by Davenport and Harris (2007),
TMNAS has varying degrees of success as well as failure. The authors describe these pillars as
pivotal to ability of any organization to successfully develop in to analytical competitors. The
first of these pillars is labeled Support of Strategic, Distinctive Capability (p. 24). Although
TMNAS has identified its strategic capability as delivering ...efficiencies and cost savings
through the streamlining of processes... (Overview 2015), it has been not examined as a viable
capability to leverage in terms of Competitive Analytics. Furthermore, given the distinct nature of
TMNAS, it stands to reason that the organization may elect to take a back seat to the group
companies as far as identifying a strategic capability. In examining the company s position as a
services organization, it may behoove the company to play a support role to the group companies
and their front office functions in fostering the identification of strategic and distinctive
capabilities. Additionally, it could fall on the members of TMNAS IT to support the spread of
competitive analytics within each of its sister companies. TMNAS has not contributed to or
fostered this step on the road to analytics within the group companies therefore its position within
this pillar of analytics competition requires more attention and resources. The next pillar identified
by Davenport and Harris (2007) is described as An

Parallax error is indeterminate/uncertain It is minimized by proper positioning of the eyes by the
student when making the readings or measurements. Instrumental error This error is also
indeterminate. It is caused by imperfect calibration of the measurement instruments, e.g the burette,
pipette and volumetric flask. This is because these instruments are manufactured by mass
production methods, which pose high chance for certain inaccuracies. This error is minimized by
use of instruments of higher precision. Averaging of the titres obtained also minimizes the error.
Contamination/Impurity of reagents This error may have risen due to the use of unclean
apparatus, like the volumetric flask, pipette, conical flasks and the burette. It arose in the
experiment especially due to improper cleaning of the conical flask after a titration and before the
next. It is minimized by thorough cleaning of the experimental apparatus before use.
Contamination also arises from presence of impurities in the various reagents provided. Oxalic
acid usually contains impurities of calcium and potassium oxalates which may have interfered
with its reaction with sodium hydroxide. The oxalic acid also may have contained some amount
of moisture before weighing leading to an error in mass. Such errors are minimized by storing the
substance in a dessicator for a few hours before use so as to remove the moisture.

The National Alliance For End Homelessness Essay
One of the simplest pieces of knowledge we acquire in elementary school (for future growth and
development) are the three basic needs a living organism requires for living: food, water, and
shelter. However, not everyone has access to all of these essentials. Homeless people are faced
with awful conditions and suffer more due to poor weather conditions, diseases, and lack of safety.
There hasn t been much progress on this issue, and if this continues, the number of homeless people
will only increase. In a few states the topic is being named as a statewide emergency , but
unfortunately this problem is national. Instead of focusing on state programs, local programs and
non profit organizations to fix the housing issue, we must all contribute to ending this epidemic.
The National Alliance to End Homelessness(NAEH) released an article stating, In January 2015,
564,708 people were homeless on a given night in the United States (Snapshot of Homelessness).
We must develop a solution to end long term homelessness immediately. The best way of solving
this issue is to provide stable long term housing, which is a term used to describe the home s
environment and financial status.
The most logical solution for homelessness is a project known as Housing First. The Housing First
program was first launched by Tanya Tull, an individual with first hand experience of povertyand
advocate for homelessness, due to an increasing number of homeless people in the 1990s.

Symptoms vary widely with this disorder. Generally children with PDD NOS lack social skills.
They don t have language skills of those with Aspergers, but they are better than those with
autistic disorder. Individuals also have fewer repetitive behaviors than individuals with
Asperger s and autistic disorder. There is not a specified criteria for diagnosing PDD NOS
because no two individuals have the exact same symptoms. Therefore if a child is believed to be
autistic but does not meet criteria for autistic disorder or asperger s then they will be diagnosed
with PDD NOS (Autism Spectrum Disorders). Autistic Disorder is the next level of ASDs.
Children with autistic disorder have more severe impairments in social and language skills, and
repetitive behaviors. Also, often an individual with autistic disorder will have mental retardation
and seizures. (Autism Spectrum Disorders) A rare form of ASD is Rett syndrome. This syndrome
affects mostly girls; one in 10,000 to 15,000 girls will develop this syndrome. Rett syndrome is
caused by genetic mutation. It occurs randomly and is not inherited. Signs and symptoms of this
syndrome occur between six and eighteen months of birth. The childs head growth slows down
rapidly, the child stops responding socially, and the child loses language skills. (Autism Spectrum

My Leadership Philosophy Of The Coast Guard
Subj:MY LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY
1.Leadership in the Coast Guard is the process of guiding and inspiring others toward closer
adherence to the core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty. Leadership is a set of
behaviors rather than just a set of ideals. Ideals are good, but ideals without the corresponding
behaviors are useless. The best way to guide others is to show by example; a true leader not only
speaks out in favor of the core values, but also exhibits them in their daily life.
2.Although leadership traits can be studied from textbooks, the best way to adopt good leadership
traits is to follow an example of positive leadership. In my career, I ve been very fortunate to have
had numerous positive role models on which to model by own behavior after. The following
examples are some situations where shipmates and supervisors have demonstrated outstanding
leadership, and have had a profound impact on me:
a.At my first duty station, my biggest desire was to fit in with everybody else. So whatever
everybody else did, I usually followed along and did likewise. This strategy is great if everybody
else always does the right thing; however, when the majority does the wrong thing, then this
philosophy will lead you astray. In this case, a member who was struggling to perform up to
standards was becoming the subject of jokes and disrespect by the rest of the crew. This lack of
respect towards a shipmate became flagrant. Unfortunately, as a new member of the

Bottom Line Conclusion
Believe it or not, Trust Enhancer is similar to pheromone products, but it s not the same !
Oxytocin trust human hormone is different than the pheromone attractive hormone because
pheromones can attract out sexual mates, when Oxytocin can have more lifestyle benefits, such as
attracting people or having our co workers and love partners or friends to trust you more and like
you more.
If you re a salesperson, you can close more deals and get more sales, where people can value our
opinions, develop more social bonds, etc.
Which leads to become more successful in not only dating, but overall daily lifestyle activities, all
from the power of trust.
However, the Trust Enhancer company knows what they are talking about, which they mentioned
that pheromone sprays/cologne could not mimic our unique natural pheromone scent, where its
does the opposite to mask our natural levels of pheromone scent.
Since they don t believe in pheromone for such colognes/perfume, they have introduced the Attract
Rx pheromones pills. I reviewed it and brought to a conclusion to be effective in making us
naturally produce our own unique natural pheromone

Dream Of The Rood Comparison
Dream of the Rood takes on a perspective that is unfamiliar for anyone with knowledge on the
crucifixion of Christ. The narrator emphasizes the loyalty of the cross to Christ and how beautiful
it looks because it is covered in gems. Using his vision as a means to connect to the reader, he
takes us through his dream in three parts. To effectively communicate with his audience, the
narrator must make us remember our experience with the crucifixion. Dream of the Rood can be
compared with Christian George Stevens The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965) because each is
telling the story about the crucifixion. Certain similarities are present throughout both works;

taken seriously because it is too Hollywood and does not allow for the emotional connection that

This can also be represented within the child s visual schedule to provide understanding for the
child ( Strategies for Teachers ). A recess buddy allows for a child to have guaranteed social
interaction during any play time. It can be difficult for children with autism to make friends
because they have a hard time understanding social cues ( Your ATN@Work ). The recess buddy
can also provide a safe and comfortable environment for the child. Since this will be represented
in the child s personal visual schedule, the child will have an understanding of who they can
spend their social time with. The child s friend can give them comfort in any situation, and allow
them to develop their social skills. In order to provide a child the ability to communicate
effectively with their peers during their play time, assistive technology can be used. Picture

Oral History Of Generational Report On My Mother s Life
This oral history generational report is about my mother, Mary Fremont on her life experiences
and beliefs that guided her in life. To achieve a historical outline of facts and experiences, I
interviewed her in person. The interview took about two hours. As the interviewer, I asked five
simplistic questions that were mostly open ended to provide a dialogue that was not hindered by
content of the question. Furthermore, on several accounts there were in depth follow up questions
to engage in a deeper discussion that will enhance the oral history report timeline.
The beginning of the interview started with a question that would highlight the timeline of my
mother s life. I asked where and when were you born? Mary responded by stating that she was
born in Oakland, California on December 8, 1959. My follow up question was what major events
where happening during the time you were born in Oakland. She indicated that it was a time of
racial conflicts and violence. I asked how long did your family stay in Oakland? She indicated that
by the time of three years old, because of racial issues in the neighborhood and school systems they
felt it was no longer safe for them.

Djambalula Bark Tree Essay
The painting is done by artist Djambalula (1908 1960), the Aborigene from Northern Australia.
Unfortunately there is no information about him, except few photos of paintings that he produced,
all of which are expected in traditional style. Djambalula follows the artistic convention of
Australian Aborigines that was established thousand years ago. The paintingis done on the small
tree bark, approximately 13 x 16 in. Bark tree is a traditional medium for Australian visual art,
along with rock and cave painting.
On the paintings we see 24 human like figures organized in three rows. The artist use white paint
against dark brownish background of tree bark. All figures look alike except five females in the
middle register, who can be identified by protruding breasts. Women hold some kind of rope or
curved stick, men are playing musical instruments and holding boomerangs. There are two figures
on the left side of the bottom register, that look like adult and child (based on the different size).

Christmas Tree Analysis
In Ibsen s play A Doll s House, the Christmas tree parallels with Nora s development, her mental
state, and position in the household. The tree can be recognized as an object placed in a house to
please the eyes and adds beauty to a home. Torvald objectifies Nora, seeing her as a plaything
carrying no purpose other than to look at and be pretty. As the play continues and Nora develops
into a mature character and becomes aware of her repression, the ChristmasTree begins to visibly

with her role as a submissive female and this represents her initial characterization which will then
develop to her rejection of her submissive role. Throughout act 1, Nora repeatedly decorates the
tree with ornaments and decorations: Nora decorates the tree, still talking to herself, saying
everything Krogstad has said is nonsense... Nora s act of decorating the tree parallels to the
standards society has for women to cover themselves in pretty clothes and makeup. Nora s
continuous decorating also represents her secrets and deceit and the lies she tells herself about her
stable marriage. In the quote, Nora rejects what Krogstad has said and refuses to accept the truth,
representing her childish behavior and her inability to face her problems, choosing to hide them
with pretty decorations instead.
Nora s character development and maturity begins after Nora has been confronted by Krogstad and
Torvald for being a lying mother. In

A Joint Tenant With Rights Of Survivorship
Martin is a joint tenant with a right of survivorship with his friends Peter, John, and Thomas. All of
them have passed away, and Martin has not been back to the property in more than 20 years.
Consequently, Peter indicated in his will that he was leaving his interest in the property to his son
Andrew. Andrew has taken a personal loan out and used his part of the interest in the propertyas
collateral. The lender has initiated a legal action to foreclose on the property. Unfortunately, this
type of property co ownership is known as joint tenancy with rights of survivorship and the
portion of the interest that is now owned by Andrew, in fact, can be attached by creditors.
Andrew s father, Peter, left his share of his interest of the property to him as joint tenancy with
rights of survivorship in an effort to provide him with quick and easy access to the property.
According to Michael L. Johnson, the advantages of placing assets in joint ownership with
rights of survivorship is to avoid the cost of administration upon death of the creator and to
provide quick and simple access to the property by the surviving joint owner upon death of the
creator (Johnson, Winter 1985). However, Andrew has defaulted on the loan and consequently,
the property is in jeopardy of going into foreclosure. From my view point, Martin has two choices
to make regarding the property. He should call the loan company and find out how much is owed
on the loan and pay it back in an effort to keep the

Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Case Study
Operative Management of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis
Introduction
Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS) affects a significant proportion of people in the population and can
cause discomfort, limit activities of daily living, and can lead to significant disability. Even though
numerous technological advancements have been made in the treatment of LSS, its management
continues to be a challenge for both patients and healthcare professionals. Spinal Stenosis is a
condition characterized by either narrowing of the spinal canal, also known as the Central
Stenosis, or narrowing of the vertebral foramina (Delitto et al., 466). The combination effect of the
loss of disc space, osteophytes, and hypertrophic lingamentum culminate to LSS (Genevay and
Atlas 253). LSS is referred to as degenerative arthritis and the foraminal narrowing leads to a
condition referred to as neurogenic claudication. Because of this narrowing, the spinal cord, and the
spinal nerves are compressed thereby causing painful symptoms in the organs served by the affected
nerves (Fishman 1141). Patients with this condition present with symptoms ranging from low back
pain, general weakness decreased sensation to numbness of the limbs (Delitto et al., 467). Walking

(Mueller, Paul. 7). Non Steroidal Anti inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) demonstrate effectiveness
when used in reducing swelling and pain associated with LSS (Fishman 1142). Opioids, on the
other hand, are used to relieve pains associated with LSS and are usually only reserved for cases
that do not respond to non opioid analgesics. Other drugs including gabapentin have been used to
combat neuropathic pain. Pregabalin is commonly used in the management of burning pain

Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe
their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your

I have always had a passion for performing. When I was around the age of 6 I use to go into the
living room and have mini concerts with my sister where we would, sing, dance and even play fake
imaginary instruments. In my mind music was the one thing that set me apart from everyone. Even
today, I still enjoy performing, although now, it in front of more people.

Biography Of Coretta Scott King
Coretta Scott King, an African American civil rights advocate, was born on April 27th, 1927 in
Perry County, Alabama. At a very young age, life for Coretta and her family was very difficult
being that her family was more successful than blacks in their area. Her father, Obadiah Scott, was
the first African Americanman to own a truck in this particular area which caused more hatred
against their family. Perry County was a very cruel place, Thanksgiving night in 1942 their house
was burned to the ground by white racists. Even though this and many other cruel events happened,
Obadiah and Bernice Scott, Scott s parents, continued to have faith.
In the Coretta Scott King Biography, Scott s early schooling was affected by segregation. Coretta
had to walk six miles to and from schools while others had bus transportation. After completing
the sixth grade, Coretta stated that her parents sent Edythe, her older sister, and her to Lincoln .
Lincoln was a semi private high school founded by slaves. Scott also mentioned how she had to
stay with other families so she could attend Lincoln and receive a better education . The white
teachers there saw worth in her which led to Coretta looking past what she experienced and
realized that under the skin were people with good hearts. Lincoln was considered a ray of hope
and an escape route for Coretta. This is the very place where she developed an interest in music
and, with the encouragement of her teachers, she pursed a career in it.

Analysis Of The Movie Platoon
The movie Platoon reveals many different things about the nature of warfare in the post war era.
Platoon shows us what it was like being a soldier during that time. From drug use being so relevant
during that time to cope with stress to soldiers showing ruthlessness in many different scenarios like
the killing of many innocent people, and even betrayal within each other.
The drug abuse during the post war era was very great and relevant. Soldiers needed a way to
relieve their stress during the war. Thoughts of being with their parents once again would haunt
them. Drugs like marijuana and alcohol were used daily to cope with their daily stress. These
drugs are known to play with your brain which could ve caused indecisiveness or bad decisions.
The actions of one could displease another and lead to conflicts. In the movie Platoon, soldiers
would gather in their camps and use these drugs. They would use these drugs because they didn t
know if they would ever go back home and these drugs helped them escape these thoughts. These
drugs could have led to unprofessional behavior and lead to conflicts between their own people.
For some soldiers, drugs have helped them continue to fight the war and for other soldiers, it
created a very toxic environment.
The post war era was also a very ruthless era. With the killing of many innocent Vietnamese
people to the raping of little girls. The movie Platoon shows us just how little anybody cared about
these innocent people. Since this was the post war era many soldiers had the fear that some of the
innocent people could have been fighters, so they wouldn t want to take any chances of dying and
murder them before they could make any moves. A scene from Platoon shows when the squad
invaded a village and had all the villagers sit outside. Sergeant Barnes had killed the elderly lady
and then had threatened to kill the man s daughter. Sergeant Elias comes by and sees Sergeant
Barnes with a pistol to a young girls head and stops him immediately, Elias fights Sergeant
Barnes in order to call off the order of killing the whole village. Another scene would be after the
squad was done setting fire to the village, some of the soldiers took little girls to a little spot and

Datril Case
My recommendation to Marvin Koslow is to follow the first approach of pricing Datril at par with
Tylenol ($2.85 retail price, $1.69 trade cost), leveraging Bristol Myers brand name, and positioning
Datril as an analgesic with similar relief effects to the those of the already successful, aspirin based
Bufferin and Excedin, but more gentle on the stomach, and without the side effects of aspirin. By
doing so, Datril will primarily target aspirin users, specifically those from Bufferin s and Excedin s
current consumer base, who suffer from upset stomach. I explain my rationale below. According to
the case, when Datril was introduced to test markets per the strategy I recommended, it failed to

This is Bristol Myers main competitive advantage; its own consumers who may suffer from the
typical side effects of aspirin. Targeting those specific customers and communicating to them the
value of eliminated side effects should be Datril s positioning and differentiating strategy.
Cannibalization from Bufferin and Excedin, should it happen, should not necessarily be viewed
negatively, since my recommended selling price of $2.85 is double that of these aspirin products.

Why Is Gettysburg A Turning Point
America was deep into the Civil war and the armies were losing faith in themselves. Times were
tough, and both the Confederate and Union were desperate for an end to this war. Many people
could say that The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point for the civil war because of the number
of casualties, the disadvantages the Confederates had, and the Gettysburg address. Most people don
t understand the significance of the Civil war but it was one of the most important and severe wars.
The battle of Gettysburghas been known to be one of the most bloodiest battles, but it has also
come to be one of the most impactive battles. Why is that? Let s go and find out!

The Confederates began with a rough start anyways, their army was way smaller than the Union
and percentage wise, the Confederates had more casualties than the Union. (Doc B) In that
same letter from General Lee to President Davis, Lee says, General Barksdale is killed. Generals
Garnett and Armistead are missing... Generals Pender and Trimble are wounded in the leg,
General Hood in the arm, and General Heth slightly in the head. General Kemper, it is feared, is
mortally wounded. Our losses embrace many other valuable officers and men. (Doc C) This
shows that many high ranked people, such as generals, were lost in the Confederate Army which
makes it even harder to fight. (Doc C) Finally, the Confederates had taken a very big risk when
they invaded the Union. In Document A, it shows that the Confederates were far into Union
territory and due to these facts, it would be hard to retreat from an enemy s territory after such a
severe battle. The Union army could risk losing more men, while the Confederate Army had
weakened, the Union Army was determined to finish this war, once and for all, and bring the nation

Medical Ethics And Ethics Regarding Medical Marijuana
RESEARCH PAPER
Medical Ethics Ethics Regarding Medical Marijuana by Sowmya Kondapuram
Medical ethics is a system of morals and values that apply judgments to the practice of medicine.
Medical ethics mainly deals with behavior of physician and the decisions they have to make rather
than how to treat patients. Physicians face these kind of questions and dilemmas often. Simply put
ethics in medicine is about making decisions that are moral and just. Medicine is both science and
an art, where science implies physicians to recognize signs of illness, treat or cure the patients and
art involves making right decisions in ethical situations.
Medical Ethics:
All doctors take a certain oath or pledge before taking up on their career. They take up the
following oaths
п‚· Pledge to consecrate their life to service of humans.
п‚· Will respect their patients.
п‚· Practice their profession with conscience and dignity.
п‚· Health of patient would be their primary importance.
п‚· Main autonomy by protecting the secrets of the patients.
п‚· Not permit age, race, social status, disease, nationality or any other factor to falter their
decisions.
п‚· Respect for human life.
п‚· Will behave professionally at all times.
Non Rational Approaches to Ethical Issues:
п‚· Obedience, a common way of making ethical decisions. Generally agreeing to the patients
consents, following the rules fall under this approach.

Jason of Golden Fleece fame was on the run for his life. Multiple other Argonauts, jealous of
Jason s glory and riches, had chased him away from his home and family, and he was trying to

Bill Clinton Impeach Essay
A controversial issue that occurred not too long ago would be the impeachment of former
President Bill Clinton. Clinton was impeached for having an inappropriate and unprofessional

investigation to impeach Clinton began in October 1998 and he was impeached in December
1998. However, Clinton was spared removal from office after the Senate voted to acquit him in

argument made to impeach Clinton was that just because something is popular does not mean that

The reality that countries like North Korea, Iran, and Iraq are working on ballistic missiles. And
that terrorists who fly no national flag are trying to acquire chemical and biological weapons.
George J. Tenet, June 14, 2001
I. Introduction Terrorism is far from new to nations around the world. Attacks that make the
headlines in international news occur almost daily. However, each act of terrorism provides its
own goal or objective, which may or may not have a different aim than a previous attack, which
makes the threat even more difficult to prevent. Terrorism is a concept that is hard to define, but
many government organizations and authors around the world have defined or attempted to
provide a definition of terrorism. In spite of the lack of a single definition, terrorism is commonly
referred to as a phenomenon because it is constantly evolving. This, in turn, makes terrorism even
more difficult to predict and forecast.

In the beginning of the short story, in just a few sentences the reader can quickly determine what
type of son Tommy is, he is one who doesn t give two hoots about anyone but himself, after being

characteristics of his father and proves the old saying like father, like son holds true (121).
Similarly, Kyle left Mawmaw with Tommy, and Tommy left Mawmaw with Shirley Temple

alone, it is not surprising that she took on the role of a caretaker for the mammoth. Pierce allows
the reader to be put in the perspective of Mawmaw. Throughout the short story, you can see what
type of person Mawmaw is based on her actions in regards to the mammoth. She cares deeply
about the mammoth, even making her home nearly an Arctic tundra to help the mammoth

bringing light to all of the internal conflicts that Mawmaw is dealing with and the different things
that she has had to pray about over the last thirty years. Pierce develops all characters very

cooperated and why some nations were more successful in implementing the final solution. Lastly, I
will compare and contrast all the data of the nations in the conclusion. The Netherlands The
installation of pro German government in the Netherlands starkly contributed to the high Jewish
death toll. When the Netherlands was being invaded by the Germans the Dutch Cabinet and the
Queen fled to England. Therefore, after the occupation, the Germans could install in contrast to
other occupied countries a Pro German Civilian Government, led by the Austrian Arthur Seyss
Inquart. He had the full control over all the civil servants in the Netherlands and could therefore
easily implement new anti Jewish policies. One of his first policies was to establish a Jewish
Council with the purpose to control the Jews and unnoticeably strip them away of their rights. Also
with the help of the civil servants, Seyss Inquart could initiate a registration system to make the
Jews more easily identifiable by inserting a J on their card. This registration simplified and

Antony And Cleopatra Comparison Analysis
In Antony and Cleopatra, Shakespeare shifts from praising Antony as a great warrior to
condemning him by depicting the gradual decline of his honor and image in order to show his
inner battle between reason and emotion. This is an apparent theme in both the book and the
play, though there might be some small differences, both shows how this inner battle defeats
him and leaves Cleopatra with most of the power. One thing that I noticed is that Cleopatra
seemed far more regal in the book than in the play. For example, in the book when Antony wants
Scarus to kiss her favoring hand (205), he makes it sound like a big honor that he is able to do
this. In addition, the way he describes her makes me imagine that it is a regal and important
moment. In the play, however she does a little dance after he kisses her hand, which to me
seemed like she was acting inappropriately and taking away the importance of the moment. It is
almost as if she was undermining what the warrior had done. She made what should have been a
serious and honorable moment and turned it into a joke. Even though Antony loves Cleopatra
his rational side takes over when he decides to marry Octavia in order to show his loyalty to
Rome. He knows that his duty is to Rome and it is where he is supposed to be and the people of
Rome are not happy about all of the time he has been spending in Egypt. To fix this and mend their
bond Antony agrees to marry Caesar s sister Octavia. This mend is shown when Caesar says that the

The Role Of Music Festivals On The Inner City Muslim...
In Iranian jails, artists, musicians and filmmakers are held as prisoners on charges of insulting
Islamic sanctities through their work. Coordinated by Amnesty International, the #FreeArtists
social media campaign was recently launched to secure artists release. Considered the nail in the
coffin for freedom of expression in Iran, the imprisonment of these artists was an attempt by Iranian
authorities to silence what was considered sacrilegious rhetoric in their works. For most Americans,
the ability to freely practice artistic expression is often taken for granted. For MuslimAmericans, the
opportunity for freedom of expression is taken and used to further the aims of their community. As a
community, Muslims in the United Statesface increasing challenges from anti Muslim rhetoric,
divisive political speech and negative media portrayals. The arts are used by organizations like the
Inner City Muslim Action Network (IMAN the Arabic word for faith) as a site of opportunity,
engagement and representation. Specifically, music festivals are used by Muslim Americans to
assert cultural identity, create and connect communities and establish a positive cultural presence in
the United States. Chicago s Takin It To The Streets event provides a unique lens through which to
view Muslim cultural identities in the United States and allows for analysis of how these identities
form cross cultural encounters and interfaith connections. Chicago is one of the most diverse cities

Similarities Between Inherit The Wind And Robert E. Lee
Henry Norris Russel once said Conflict between science and religion a dangerous foe . Throughout
history, people have argued about the origin of mankind and tried to explain the unexplainable
through religion. These different views have caused segregation and disputes over what s right and
wrong. Intolerance towards outcasts, and consequences of extreme fundamentalism are
demonstrated in Inherit the Windwritten by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. The central focus
of the play is the trial of Bertram Cates, which debates the education of evolution. It reveals the
importance of free thought and the necessity for respect for views that differ from one s own.
However, where there has been a disagreement about views, conflict has sparked. It is not possible
for two different views of humankind s roots to exist side by side because non conformity can
provoke conflict.
Cates, the defendant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although she had the same views on humankind s roots as the rest of the townspeople, she
caused conflict between her and father since she defended and was romantically involved with
someone who had opposing views. When Rachel tried to defend Cates at the prayer meeting,
Reverend Brown asserted We call down the same curse on those who ask grace for this sinner
(66). His relentless tone highlights how seriously he takes his beliefs, even if it means going
against family. The effects of this amplified because her father was the Reverend who preached a
faith on the fear of God and punishment of sinners. His use of faith as an excuse for his wrongful
actions, and his excessive fundamentalism amounts to him losing his own daughter, as
demonstrated by the proverb He that troubleth his own house...shall inherit the wind (67). To
conclude, Rachel s non conformity with the loathing views of the Hillsboro citizens for Cates,
induce conflicts between her and her

Argument Between Keynes And Hayak
Keynes and Hayak and their influence on the modern day economyпјљWho Won and Why? Whose
model for economic development is more suitable for modern day societyпјџ This essay wilI
identify themes and arguments between the two economist camps of Keynes and Hayak and their
controvertial ideas on whether a controlled economy or a free market economy is better suited for
economic development. It will both describe and alalyse their ideas of development and explain
why different countries adopted different methods to further their economic goals as with how this
has changed with the times. The four readings I will introduce and analyse for you in this article

Margret Thatcher, Prime Minister of Britain preferred a more Hayakian approach and directly
attacked Keynesian ideology using a direct quote from his book The Road to Serfdem utilizing
it to give a brutal attack on state planning. Hayak explains how free markets were not just a
politcal construct but remained the best way of coordinating scattered information. (Cassidy
2000) Cassidy goes further to tell us how the central economic problem is how best to organize
production and employ available resources in order to satisfy the needs and desires of millions
of different people. (Cassidy 2000) Hayaks contemporaries on the other hand believed the best
path forward was central planning which would allow resources to be directed to socially useful
areas. Hayak on the contrary begged to differ saying centralised systems suffered from a division
of knowledge problem which basically means in order to successfully allocate free resources the
central planner needs to know what goods people want and how they can most cheaply be
produced. Hayak believed this knowledge is based in the heads of the individuals and not that of
state authorities and the only way to relay this knowledge is through a system of market determined
prices. (Cassidy

A Brief Note On Anorexia And Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia is a severe eating disorder which is generally characterized by severe weight loss and
life threatening dieting these then results in malnourishment (Anorexia Nervosa , 2015). Bulimia
and Anorexia are known to be the two most largely known eating disorders that are very serious
and affect many teenagers. 95% of people suffering with anorexia are known to be girls however
there s an average 5% of males that suffer from this mental illness. Anorexia is when the brain goes
into over drive to control over the amount of food they eat and the size of their body (unkown,
Eating Disorders/Malnutrition).
Anorexia is a very serious and life threatening mental illness. A person suffering from Anorexia

anorexia and these causes may differ between people. These known causes may include, cultural

As Anorexia is a fatal disease there are then some vital symptoms people will have a loss of at

Legal Ethical Issues with Advertising and Online Counseling
Since the end of World War 2, the technology one sees around them and uses everyday has grown
exponentially. In the field of counseling, phones, fax machines, copiers, and computers are all used
to run everyday operations and transfer information. Despite how great technology can be, ethical
issues can arise because of it. For example, talking on the phone with a client in a crisis situation
can create a condition in which confidentiality can be breeched. (McMinn, 1999).
One new way in which technology has been used to extend the services of the counseling field is
through online counseling. According to Corey (2011), online counseling can be beneficial because
some consumers want brief and anonymous therapy, some clients who are ... Show more content on

LaCombe s online counseling business and advertising.
The first ethical issue with this online counseling venture is the fact that it is labeled as an online
counseling program for people in crisis, but one does not need to provide their name to get therapy.
This breaks two ethical codes found in the American Counseling Association s Code of Ethics
(2005). The first one is ACA: A.1.a which cites that as a counselor, one is responsible for the
welfare of the client s and promoting that welfare. The second one is A.12.c which states that
counselors should avoid using technology assisted counseling services when it would be better
or more appropriate to use face to face services (ACA, 2005). If a suicidal individual goes on Dr.
LaCombe s site and let s their online therapist know, how is said therapist supposed to get that
individual help if they do not know their name? In addition, it may be more appropriate to help
people in crisis in person as opposed to over the internet.
Secondly, according to Corey (2011), many online counseling providers do not have an intake
procedure, a confidentiality waiver, or informed consent write up. Dr. LaCombe s site does not
have an intake procedure or confidentiality waiver. Her website has some aspects of informed
consent such as a statement about live counseling versus online counseling and payment. That said
she does not talk about the

  • 2. The Process of Photosynthesis and Practicals Introduction One of the most important bological processes on earth is photosynthesis. Plants that comprise the majority of the food we consume need photosynthesis in order to produce life sustaining energy. This energy is harnessed by the sun. If it were not for photosynthesis to capture and use this vital energy, life itself would be minimal or almost non existent. Photosynthesis entails a process that involves complex and fundamental actions that occur in plants, algae as well as some bacteria. They use sunlight to produce carbohydrates. Oxygen is then created from carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (Jackson, 2008). The carbohydrates created through photosynthesis enables growth and normal functioning for the plant to sustain life. Here is an example of a formulation of photosynthesis by Campbell et al. Light 6CO2 + 6H20 6 (CH2O) + 6O2 Chlorophyll (Campbell et al. 2009) Chloroplasts are the main place for photosynthesis to occur in plants occurs. Chloroplasts are important organelles, and can be found within plant cells. The structure of chloroplasts are complex networks of sacs. These are called thylakoids. Chlorophyll. located within the membranes of thylakoids, give color to plants (Campbell et al. 2009). Cholrophyll is a key component in allowing most photosynthesis. Chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b are the two forms within chlorophyll. Along with chlorophylls, chloroplasts contain other photosynthesising pigments. These are called carotene ... • 4. Mr. Williams And The Music Of Music And Film John Williams once said so much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it s gratifying to have something you have done linger in people s memories and linger it did. Mr. Williams has made significant contributions to the arts of music and film. To fully understand the gravity of his achievements and their affect on humanity, we must first look at the progression of sound in film; the effect music has in film and its audience; and lastly his accomplishments of music and film. In the infancy of film, movies were silent but not without sound. To make film a more pleasant experience, music was provided to cover up the ambient noise of the projector and help create an agreeable atmosphere, often by the use of a solo piano. (Fischoff, S. (2005)). The musician generally improvised playing mostly a variety of popular romantic and melodramatic scores of the late nineteenth century (such as William Tell Overture, Ride of the Valkyrie, Les Preludes, etc.) as long as it accompanied the action/scene or enhanced the mood (for dramatic effect). ( From Scene to Shining Screen: A Short History of Film Music . para. 1 2. (n.d.)). As film grew in popularity and length, so did the musical accompaniment adding instruments to the ensemble until even some theaters were housing full orchestras. By the end of the silent era, the industry had completely shifted from the all purpose improve music of the solo pianist, to exact musical scores written ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Jane Hirshfield s Poem Tree Jane Hirshfield connects to nature at her home in Marin County, California this is where she gets her inspiration for her poems. Hirshfield published Tree in 2000 as a free verse poem, divided into 4 stanzas and 4 sentences to convey the nature world. The poem represents a young redwood (line 2) growing near a house, near a kitchen window. The redwood is already scraping against the window frame of the house, reminding the reader of the foolish (line 1) idea of letting it grow there. Humans were created to be one with nature, but as they evolved as a species, they were obligated to choose between the materialistic world or the world of nature. Hirshfield writes this poem in second person to give life to the poem so that the poem speaks to the reader. The poem starts by accusing the reader of letting the redwood grow near the house. It is foolish (line 1) lets the reader know that nature should not be growing this close to your home. Hirshfield takes the liberty to talk straight to the reader through the speaker in telling them that it is nonsense to let nature be so close to a material object such as a house. The reader can visually see a young redwood// grow next to a house (line 2, 3). The tree starts to symbolize the beauty of nature growing against the materialistic world. A new sentence leads into the second stanza to introduce a new idea; it shifts the attention of the poem from the imagery of the redwood growing against the house to the shortness of the ... Abd al Aziz wanted a non violent, peaceful agreement with Theodemir. According to the treaty, it states, His followers will not be killed or taken prisoner, nor will they be separated from their women and children. Furthermore, given the distinct nature of TMNAS, it stands to reason that the organization may elect to take a back seat to the group companies as far as identifying a strategic capability. In examining the company s position as a services organization, it may behoove the company to play a support role to the group companies and their front office functions in fostering the identification of strategic and distinctive capabilities. Instrumental error This error is also indeterminate. It is caused by imperfect calibration of the measurement instruments, e.g the burette, pipette and volumetric flask. This is because these instruments are manufactured by mass production methods, which pose high chance for certain inaccuracies. This error is minimized by use of instruments of higher precision. Averaging of the titres obtained also minimizes the error. Contamination/Impurity of reagents This error may have risen due to the use of unclean apparatus, like the volumetric flask, pipette, conical flasks and the burette. It arose in the experiment especially due to improper cleaning of the conical flask after a titration and before the next. It is minimized by thorough cleaning of the experimental apparatus before use. Contamination also arises from presence of impurities in the various reagents provided. Oxalic acid usually contains impurities of calcium and potassium oxalates which may have interfered with its reaction with sodium hydroxide. • 9. The National Alliance For End Homelessness Essay One of the simplest pieces of knowledge we acquire in elementary school (for future growth and development) are the three basic needs a living organism requires for living: food, water, and shelter. However, not everyone has access to all of these essentials. Homeless people are faced with awful conditions and suffer more due to poor weather conditions, diseases, and lack of safety. There hasn t been much progress on this issue, and if this continues, the number of homeless people will only increase. In a few states the topic is being named as a statewide emergency , but unfortunately this problem is national. Instead of focusing on state programs, local programs and non profit organizations to fix the housing issue, we must all contribute to ending this epidemic. The National Alliance to End Homelessness(NAEH) released an article stating, In January 2015, 564,708 people were homeless on a given night in the United States (Snapshot of Homelessness). We must develop a solution to end long term homelessness immediately. The best way of solving this issue is to provide stable long term housing, which is a term used to describe the home s environment and financial status. The most logical solution for homelessness is a project known as Housing First. The Housing First program was first launched by Tanya Tull, an individual with first hand experience of povertyand advocate for homelessness, due to an increasing number of homeless people in the 1990s. My Leadership Philosophy Of The Coast Guard Subj:MY LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY 1.Leadership in the Coast Guard is the process of guiding and inspiring others toward closer adherence to the core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty. Leadership is a set of behaviors rather than just a set of ideals. Ideals are good, but ideals without the corresponding behaviors are useless. The best way to guide others is to show by example; a true leader not only speaks out in favor of the core values, but also exhibits them in their daily life. 2.Although leadership traits can be studied from textbooks, the best way to adopt good leadership traits is to follow an example of positive leadership. In my career, I ve been very fortunate to have had numerous positive role models on which to model by own behavior after. The following examples are some situations where shipmates and supervisors have demonstrated outstanding leadership, and have had a profound impact on me: a.At my first duty station, my biggest desire was to fit in with everybody else. So whatever everybody else did, I usually followed along and did likewise. This strategy is great if everybody else always does the right thing; however, when the majority does the wrong thing, then this philosophy will lead you astray. Unfortunately, this type of property co ownership is known as joint tenancy with rights of survivorship and the portion of the interest that is now owned by Andrew, in fact, can be attached by creditors. Andrew s father, Peter, left his share of his interest of the property to him as joint tenancy with rights of survivorship in an effort to provide him with quick and easy access to the property. According to Michael L. Johnson, the advantages of placing assets in joint ownership with rights of survivorship is to avoid the cost of administration upon death of the creator and to provide quick and simple access to the property by the surviving joint owner upon death of the creator (Johnson, Winter 1985). However, Andrew has defaulted on the loan and consequently, the property is in jeopardy of going into foreclosure. From my view point, Martin has two choices to make regarding the property. He should call the loan company and find out how much is owed on the loan and pay it back in an effort to keep the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Case Study Operative Management of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Introduction Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS) affects a significant proportion of people in the population and can cause discomfort, limit activities of daily living, and can lead to significant disability. Even though numerous technological advancements have been made in the treatment of LSS, its management continues to be a challenge for both patients and healthcare professionals. Spinal Stenosis is a condition characterized by either narrowing of the spinal canal, also known as the Central Stenosis, or narrowing of the vertebral foramina (Delitto et al., 466). The combination effect of the loss of disc space, osteophytes, and hypertrophic lingamentum culminate to LSS (Genevay and Atlas 253). LSS is referred to as degenerative arthritis and the foraminal narrowing leads to a condition referred to as neurogenic claudication. Because of this narrowing, the spinal cord, and the spinal nerves are compressed thereby causing painful symptoms in the organs served by the affected nerves (Fishman 1141). Patients with this condition present with symptoms ranging from low back pain, general weakness decreased sensation to numbness of the limbs (Delitto et al., 467). • 25. Biography Of Coretta Scott King Coretta Scott King, an African American civil rights advocate, was born on April 27th, 1927 in Perry County, Alabama. At a very young age, life for Coretta and her family was very difficult being that her family was more successful than blacks in their area. Her father, Obadiah Scott, was the first African Americanman to own a truck in this particular area which caused more hatred against their family. Perry County was a very cruel place, Thanksgiving night in 1942 their house was burned to the ground by white racists. Even though this and many other cruel events happened, Obadiah and Bernice Scott, Scott s parents, continued to have faith. In the Coretta Scott King Biography, Scott s early schooling was affected by segregation. Coretta had to walk six miles to and from schools while others had bus transportation. After completing the sixth grade, Coretta stated that her parents sent Edythe, her older sister, and her to Lincoln . Lincoln was a semi private high school founded by slaves. Scott also mentioned how she had to stay with other families so she could attend Lincoln and receive a better education . The white teachers there saw worth in her which led to Coretta looking past what she experienced and realized that under the skin were people with good hearts. Lincoln was considered a ray of hope and an escape route for Coretta. This is the very place where she developed an interest in music and, with the encouragement of her teachers, she pursed a career in it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Analysis Of The Movie Platoon The movie Platoon reveals many different things about the nature of warfare in the post war era. Platoon shows us what it was like being a soldier during that time. From drug use being so relevant during that time to cope with stress to soldiers showing ruthlessness in many different scenarios like the killing of many innocent people, and even betrayal within each other. The drug abuse during the post war era was very great and relevant. Soldiers needed a way to relieve their stress during the war. Thoughts of being with their parents once again would haunt them. Drugs like marijuana and alcohol were used daily to cope with their daily stress. These drugs are known to play with your brain which could ve caused indecisiveness or bad decisions. The actions of one could displease another and lead to conflicts. In the movie Platoon, soldiers would gather in their camps and use these drugs. They would use these drugs because they didn t know if they would ever go back home and these drugs helped them escape these thoughts. These drugs could have led to unprofessional behavior and lead to conflicts between their own people. For some soldiers, drugs have helped them continue to fight the war and for other soldiers, it created a very toxic environment. The post war era was also a very ruthless era. With the killing of many innocent Vietnamese people to the raping of little girls. The movie Platoon shows us just how little anybody cared about these innocent people. Since this was the post war era many soldiers had the fear that some of the innocent people could have been fighters, so they wouldn t want to take any chances of dying and murder them before they could make any moves. A scene from Platoon shows when the squad invaded a village and had all the villagers sit outside. Sergeant Barnes had killed the elderly lady and then had threatened to kill the man s daughter. Sergeant Elias comes by and sees Sergeant Barnes with a pistol to a young girls head and stops him immediately, Elias fights Sergeant Barnes in order to call off the order of killing the whole village. There will be a description of the treatment of Jews as well as the kill rate in that country. Besides, there will be an analysis, why the countries cooperated and why some nations were more successful in implementing the final solution. Lastly, I will compare and contrast all the data of the nations in the conclusion. The Netherlands The installation of pro German government in the Netherlands starkly contributed to the high Jewish death toll. When the Netherlands was being invaded by the Germans the Dutch Cabinet and the Queen fled to England. Therefore, after the occupation, the Germans could install in contrast to other occupied countries a Pro German Civilian Government, led by the Austrian Arthur Seyss Inquart. He had the full control over all the civil servants in the Netherlands and could therefore easily implement new anti Jewish policies. One of his first policies was to establish a Jewish Council with the purpose to control the Jews and unnoticeably strip them away of their rights. • 41. Antony And Cleopatra Comparison Analysis In Antony and Cleopatra, Shakespeare shifts from praising Antony as a great warrior to condemning him by depicting the gradual decline of his honor and image in order to show his inner battle between reason and emotion. This is an apparent theme in both the book and the play, though there might be some small differences, both shows how this inner battle defeats him and leaves Cleopatra with most of the power. One thing that I noticed is that Cleopatra seemed far more regal in the book than in the play. For example, in the book when Antony wants Scarus to kiss her favoring hand (205), he makes it sound like a big honor that he is able to do this. In addition, the way he describes her makes me imagine that it is a regal and important moment. In the play, however she does a little dance after he kisses her hand, which to me seemed like she was acting inappropriately and taking away the importance of the moment. It is almost as if she was undermining what the warrior had done. She made what should have been a serious and honorable moment and turned it into a joke. Even though Antony loves Cleopatra his rational side takes over when he decides to marry Octavia in order to show his loyalty to Rome. He knows that his duty is to Rome and it is where he is supposed to be and the people of Rome are not happy about all of the time he has been spending in Egypt. In Iranian jails, artists, musicians and filmmakers are held as prisoners on charges of insulting Islamic sanctities through their work. Coordinated by Amnesty International, the #FreeArtists social media campaign was recently launched to secure artists release. Considered the nail in the coffin for freedom of expression in Iran, the imprisonment of these artists was an attempt by Iranian authorities to silence what was considered sacrilegious rhetoric in their works. For most Americans, the ability to freely practice artistic expression is often taken for granted. For MuslimAmericans, the opportunity for freedom of expression is taken and used to further the aims of their community. As a community, Muslims in the United Statesface increasing challenges from anti Muslim rhetoric, divisive political speech and negative media portrayals. The arts are used by organizations like the Inner City Muslim Action Network (IMAN the Arabic word for faith) as a site of opportunity, engagement and representation. Specifically, music festivals are used by Muslim Americans to assert cultural identity, create and connect communities and establish a positive cultural presence in the United States. Chicago s Takin It To The Streets event provides a unique lens through which to view Muslim cultural identities in the United States and allows for analysis of how these identities form cross cultural encounters and interfaith connections. Chicago is one of the most diverse cities in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Similarities Between Inherit The Wind And Robert E. Lee Henry Norris Russel once said Conflict between science and religion a dangerous foe . Throughout history, people have argued about the origin of mankind and tried to explain the unexplainable through religion. These different views have caused segregation and disputes over what s right and wrong. Intolerance towards outcasts, and consequences of extreme fundamentalism are demonstrated in Inherit the Windwritten by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. The central focus of the play is the trial of Bertram Cates, which debates the education of evolution. It reveals the importance of free thought and the necessity for respect for views that differ from one s own. However, where there has been a disagreement about views, conflict has sparked. It is not possible for two different views of humankind s roots to exist side by side because non conformity can provoke conflict. Cates, the defendant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although she had the same views on humankind s roots as the rest of the townspeople, she caused conflict between her and father since she defended and was romantically involved with someone who had opposing views. When Rachel tried to defend Cates at the prayer meeting, Reverend Brown asserted We call down the same curse on those who ask grace for this sinner (66). His relentless tone highlights how seriously he takes his beliefs, even if it means going against family. The effects of this amplified because her father was the Reverend who preached a faith on the fear of God and punishment of sinners. His use of faith as an excuse for his wrongful actions, and his excessive fundamentalism amounts to him losing his own daughter, as demonstrated by the proverb He that troubleth his own house...shall inherit the wind (67). To conclude, Rachel s non conformity with the loathing views of the Hillsboro citizens for Cates, induce conflicts between her and her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Margret Thatcher, Prime Minister of Britain preferred a more Hayakian approach and directly attacked Keynesian ideology using a direct quote from his book The Road to Serfdem utilizing it to give a brutal attack on state planning. Hayak explains how free markets were not just a politcal construct but remained the best way of coordinating scattered information. (Cassidy 2000) Cassidy goes further to tell us how the central economic problem is how best to organize production and employ available resources in order to satisfy the needs and desires of millions of different people. (Cassidy 2000) Hayaks contemporaries on the other hand believed the best path forward was central planning which would allow resources to be directed to socially useful areas. Hayak on the contrary begged to differ saying centralised systems suffered from a division of knowledge problem which basically means in order to successfully allocate free resources the central planner needs to know what goods people want and how they can most cheaply be produced. Hayak believed this knowledge is based in the heads of the individuals and not that of state authorities and the only way to relay this knowledge is through a system of market determined prices. • 46. Legal Ethical Issues with Advertising and Online Counseling Since the end of World War 2, the technology one sees around them and uses everyday has grown exponentially. In the field of counseling, phones, fax machines, copiers, and computers are all used to run everyday operations and transfer information. Despite how great technology can be, ethical issues can arise because of it. For example, talking on the phone with a client in a crisis situation can create a condition in which confidentiality can be breeched. (McMinn, 1999). One new way in which technology has been used to extend the services of the counseling field is through online counseling. According to Corey (2011), online counseling can be beneficial because some consumers want brief and anonymous therapy, some clients who are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... LaCombe s online counseling business and advertising. The first ethical issue with this online counseling venture is the fact that it is labeled as an online counseling program for people in crisis, but one does not need to provide their name to get therapy. This breaks two ethical codes found in the American Counseling Association s Code of Ethics (2005). The first one is ACA: A.1.a which cites that as a counselor, one is responsible for the welfare of the client s and promoting that welfare. The second one is A.12.c which states that counselors should avoid using technology assisted counseling services when it would be better or more appropriate to use face to face services (ACA, 2005). If a suicidal individual goes on Dr. LaCombe s site and let s their online therapist know, how is said therapist supposed to get that individual help if they do not know their name? In addition, it may be more appropriate to help people in crisis in person as opposed to over the internet. Secondly, according to Corey (2011), many online counseling providers do not have an intake procedure, a confidentiality waiver, or informed consent write up. Dr. LaCombe s site does not have an intake procedure or confidentiality waiver. Her website has some aspects of informed consent such as a statement about live counseling versus online counseling and payment. That said she does not talk about the ...
