A Brief Look at Rubin Hurricane Carter
In the late 1960s black men were arrested because they fit a simple description of a black man.White
men did everything possible to stop a black man from getting recognized. Professional boxer Rubin
Carter was born on May 6, 1937, in Clifton, New Jersey. In 1966, at the height of his boxing career,
Carter was wrongfully convicted of a triple murder.Carter was arrested at twelve after attacking a man
with a boy scout knife and again in 1957 for purse snatching and served four years in trenton state
maximum security prison. When four white people were shot and the only reason for the three murders
and one survivor was racial retaliation. Rubin Hurricane Carter is an advocate, and a black man in
route of a crime scene was wrongfully arrested, put on trial four times, and released after twenty two
years in prison. Rubin Hurricane Carter was training for his next shot at the world middleweight title
against middleweight champion Dick Tiger in October 1966 when he was arrested for the June 17
triple murder of three patrons Jim Oliver,Fred Bob Nauyoks, and Hazel Tanis at the Lafayette Bar Grill
in Paterson. (Rubin) It was nearly closing time on June 17, 1966 at 2:30am at the Lafayette Grill on
Paterson when the bartender and part owner, James Oliver, was counting the day s receipts. (Passaic)
Oliver s establishment was reputed to be a haven for anti black sentiments at a time when racial
tensions in the city were high. (Passaic) A possible motive was created earlier in the

The Life Of A Volunteer Job
Barry s POV
As I woke up from my all night food coma I woke up in my armor and decided to wear a simple
jogging outfit consisting of a wife beater and some dark sweat pants.
As I ran I pondered what I should do in this universe. I ran a couple miles until I ran past a hospital
next to a retirement home. Smart move there. I backtracked remembering how my father was a docter
and how I always loved helping people.
I made up my mind as I chose to enter the retirement home first to apply for a volunteer job, I figured
that not all of the elderly relish their time left on Earth and some have nothing really left for them here
and wish for the rest they ve earned. So killing two birds with one stone I could work here and release

Powering up the phone I activated it and it gave me my number. As I rushed back to the retirement
home I saw Tiffany was gone I signed my phone number and left.
As I walked out my clothes changed to a dark shirt regular leather jacket, jeans and boots. As I walked
the streets of this National City I saw the life flourishing around me until I noticed something odd.
When I saw one person I always saw their life force flowing inside them but on one person I saw
something weird. What I saw was their life force being drained by and small, invisible, human like
creature. In an instant I transformed and dashed over calling out my scythes to slash at it only for it to
vanish before me and the man falling limp into my arms. I laid him down banishing my scythes but as
I stood back up I just narrowly dodged a punch to the face by letting it faze through me.
As I rushed away I came face to face with... Kara Zor El better known as Supergirl. As she saw the
collapsed man she put my sudden appearance and his sudden collapsing as my doing, but then I saw
the small human floating behind Supergirl taunting me as I growled in frustration as lightning burst
from me, he began taunting me to catch him. I smirked at this getting into a running position. Then I
looked at the small human mouth something I haven t heard in a long time.
Run. Barry. Run.
As I read its lips my eyes charged with lightning as I took the first step I rocketed fazing through

Literature Review On Evidence Based Practice
Main Question Post: Discussion 10
Introduction
Evidence based practice (EBP) offers a framework utilization of systematic high quality research, an
analysis which consistently enhances measurable client outcome and clinical decision making
grounded in rationality; EBP depends on data collected through experimental research and accounts
for individual client characteristics and clinician expertise. The potential benefits of EBP comprise of
increased service delivery and quality of care, heightened accountability, and a bridging of the
research practice gap (Sackett, Straus, Richardson, Rosenberg, Haynes, 2000). It is imperative that
research scholars are cognizant of research outcome dependability and validity prior to implementing

to ascertain long lasting impacts (Running Turnbeaugh, 2011). A nonrandomized single group pre and
posttest design of a randomized two period crossover of approximately 230 contributors and a
substantial result over a three year interval were appraised in the therapy of visceral pain (Running
Turnbeaugh, 2011). The researchers determined that the evidence champions the utilization of

A Brief Note On Climate Change, Biodiversity, And...
Using the Eurobarometer 83.4: Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Discrimination against Minority
Groups (May June 2015, ICPSR 36403) for the purpose of comparing various counties in the
European Union. Eurobarometer is a series of public opinion surveys conducted regularly on behalf of
the European Commission. The scope of the project would be to look into the information given in the
Eurobarometer and to compare why some countries have common characteristic while others have a
great range between them on certain characteristics. In addition, it covers these various countries the
geographic coverage is Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark,
Estonia, European Union, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy,
Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Romania,
Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden. From a time period of 2015 05 30 2015 06 08.
For this data collection project, I wanted to focus on countries that came from a wide range of
economic and social backgrounds. The purpose of doing so was to gain a better understanding on how
differing histories of certain countries could affect the answers that they responded with. The wide
array of answers would better show the diversity of these countries. I theorize that citizens in these
countries will have a high response rate of citizens who answer affirmatively to being informed.
Meaning that the citizens in these

Analysis Of Veronica Roth s The Big Five Model
Throughout the history of human psychology, the development of personality and the factors that
contribute to its variations have been widely scrutinised and theorized. According to some of
psychologies most acclaimed and experienced psychologists, personality can be stagnant, morphed,
molded, developed and uncovered through a range of processes we experience before we are born,
after birth and during our lifetime. (Eyesenck, 2004) Veronica Roth s Divergent exhibits aspects of
both Gordon Allports Trait Theory and McCrae and Costa s Five Factor Model, also known as the Big
Five Model. (Eyesenck, 2004) These theories are applicable to the Divergent film in the features of its
pot line and within characterization. There accuracies as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Allport, 1937) cardinal traits were constant and consistent through life; they had overwhelming
influence on a person s total being. Central traits guided aspects of behavior, reactions and social
interaction, and finally, secondary traits were more unsettled aspects of the personality and affected
casual opinions and habitual behaviors. (Wade Tavris, 2000) Finalizing his theory, Allport stated that
while we all share common traits, and we all live in this world together, (Allport, 1961) people still
differ, as for some the world is a hostile place... for others it is a sage for fun and frolic . (Wade et al.,
2000)
Allport suggests that cardinal, secondary and central traits become apparent in people at different rates
within the growth cycle. (Schopper, 1994) This element of Allports theory is directly applicable to the
initial portrayal of Divergent s protagonist, Beatrice Prior. Beatrice assumes the mannerisms of her
faction Abnegation and emulates the required habitual behaviors, reactions and interactions. She
dresses in grey clothing, she habitually washes up after her parents, and she routinely deems it
unnecessary to look in the mirror. These are all examples of secondary traits that affect casual opinion
and habits. (Wade et al., 2000) After her move to Dauntless, these mannerisms and aspects of her
personality change, further supporting Allports theory that secondary traits are unsettled and ever
changing. She now wears black, promiscuous clothing, she

How Does Golding Show Conflict Between Ralph, Jack Piggy...
In lord of the flies, Golding presents a strong sense of conflict, between the boys, the boys and nature
and the boy s personal lives. The theme of conflict is an important one within the novel, as it helps to
represent the disagreement and fighting of World War II which was happening during the time that
Lord of the flies was written and that Golding experienced first hand. Golding s main message in Lord
of the flies was how cruel men could be to one another and conflict is an obvious link to this idea.
We begin to see conflict very early in the novel, even before the story begins, as Golding tries to
introduce the key themes at the start of the novel. The boys are actually brought to the island itself by
the conflicts of World War II. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Golding could be making a point that your background does not necessarily determine how intelligent
you are and that a lower class child can be very intelligent.
We experience more tension between Ralph and Piggy due to Ralph s attitude that he is superior,
through linguistic conflict. Piggy continuously asks Ralph questions, such as what s your name? , you
haven t seen the others have you? and making comments and telling Ralph about himself: My auntie
told me not to run...on account of my asthma and I expect we ll want to know all there names . He is
enthusiastic and keen to talk to Ralph, possibly due to the usual lack of attention he receives back
home. However Ralph tried to be offhand and not too obviously uninterested and replied to Piggy s
comments with just a shake of his head or not even acknowledging him at all. As well as this, when
Piggy asked Ralph his name he waited to be asked his name in turn but this proffer of acquaintance
was not made . This yet again shows how Ralph thinks of himself as superior to Piggy and doesn t feel
he needs to treat or show piggy the same respect and interest that he gave to Ralph. Piggy also partly
creates a gap between himself and Ralph by following Ralph and showing so much interest in him.
Piggy hung steadily at his shoulder and stood by him, breathing hard . This could show that Ralph has
a natural sense of leadership about him which makes Piggy feel as though he should look up to

Baleen Whales Research Paper
Baleen whales are known as a whalebone. They also live in the Southern Hemisphere. The meaning of
Baleen is made out of keratin, the same protein that makes up our fingernails and hair. They make up
one of two whale suborders within the cetacean family.
Baleen whales are mammals, which means that they are warm blooded and breathe air using their
lungs. That sounds interesting considering that they live in ocean waters, but they have two blowholes
at the top of their body that allows them to breathe when they reach the surface of the water. As
mammals, they also give birth to a live animal, called a whale calf. Unlike humans, who can take
around one year to learn how to walk, whale calves are born already able to swim.

Once relentlessly hunted by commercial industries for these products, cetaceans are now protected by
international law.
There are currently 86 recognized species of whales, dolphins, and porpoises. 14 are Mysticetes or
baleen whales. These whales feed using a filtering system made up of baleen plates, which allow the
whale to feed on large quantities of prey at once while filtering out sea water.
The baleen whales (Mysticeti) are characterized by baleen, a sieve like structure in the upper jaw
made of the tough, structural protein keratin. The baleen is used to filter plankton from the water.
Baleen whales are also characterized by two blowholes.
In terms of social structure, baleen whales are known to be quite solitary in nature often traveling
alone or in small groups.Communication among baleen whales involves loud low pitched moans and
whines, and physical gestures such as spy hopping, lob tailing, breaching and charging. In spite of
their enormous mass, baleen whales are able to leap completely out of the water. Particularly known
for their acrobatics are the humpback whales, but other baleen whales also break through the

Methicillin-Resistant S. Aureus (MRSA)
Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major cause of hospital acquired infections
that are becoming increasingly difficult to treat because of emerging resistance to all current
antibiotics. Infections are created by pathogens, or microbes that create diseases. There are different
types of microbes including: bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. Some microbes are beneficial to the
human body, however, there are pathogens that are deadly and require antibiotics. Antibiotics are
antimicrobials that were developed to destroy microbes. Penicillin, the first commercialized antibiotic,
was discovered in 1928 by Alexander Fleming.(Enright, Robinson, Randle, 2002) While it wasn t
distributed among the general public until 1945, it was widely used in World War II for surgical and
wound infections among the Allied Forces. Methicillin was introduced in 1959 to treat infections
caused by penicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. In 1961, there were reports from the United
Kingdom of S. aureus isolates that had acquired resistance to methicillin (methicillin resistant S.
aureus, MRSA).(Enright, Robinson, Randle, 2002)

Essay about Male Dominance and Inequality in Sports
The superior man blames himself. The inferior man blames others. Don Shula The discussion of
superior has been brought up numerous times throughout the history of time. Whether it is superiority
over a species, subject, or attribute people tend to render something better than other. In today s
modern age with a peaceful global world trying to be put into place, we have tried to eliminate
superiority between others humans and promote equality. The elimination of superiority has also
reared its head in business over time in the United States with the extinguishing of monopolies. Even

They didn t mention as much that they person they were chasing in the medal count was a female they
just referred to her as a Russian athlete . Men superiority in United States sports is clearly displayed
throughout all the leagues and actions used to display the gender differentiated leagues. There is still a
spotlight on men superiority inside the government within the United States. It is very known that all
the presidents that have served as the President of the United States roll have been a male and not once
has a woman got on the final ballot. In Congress for example, about 21% of congress is made up of
women even though a majority of Americans are women. Even though women are finding more
opportunities to find jobs inside the government, most heads and people with the highest power are
usually males. The males dominate all the branches of government even though the government
preaches equality to the United States. In the book, Palmer says under the Second Tenet the principle
goal of ethics is the giving and receiving of care appropriate to specific persons and their situations
(pg. 322). I believe many people inside the United States follow this when it comes to politics with
Nancy Pelosi and Hilary Clinton with having such a wide scale of people who know who they are
from past endeavors like Hilary Clintons husband being Bill Clinton. Females in politics have to be in
the right situations to receive care and

The Effects Of Homeschooling On Children And Public Schools
Introduction: Homeschooling is becoming much more common now than it was years ago. Parents are
now preferring to homeschool their children over public school due to many reasons such as religion,
safety, academic quality travel, family togetherness, separation of government and school, mastery
over grades, expenses, and focusing on learning plans made for the student. Public schools are
institutions, which are funded by tax revenues from the government. Schools have boundaries to then
figure out which students will attend a certain school to avoid overcrowding. The schools curriculum
is drawn up by the state and they follow a standardized testing result and other measurements, which
gives the state information of how the school is performing. According to Isabel Shaw, there are an
abundance of pros and cons of deicing to homeschool your children. Some key points from this article
were:
Homeschooling Pros The advantages of homeschooling your children are that as a parent you get to
decide what your child learns and at what age depending on their ability and level of interested and as
a student you get to choose how long you want to learn about a topic and when you want to. During
difficult times in the family or new transitions such as having a baby, moving, or a death in the family,
homeschooling stabilizes the family because you don t have to worry about missing school since you

a) Does this sound familiar to you? It is the lyrics to the song Save my World , which is an initiative of
the Saving Gaia project by Mediacorp (savinggaia.sg). You would probably have heard the song
countless of times on the television, radio and in public, but has it impacted you to do your part in

The Russian Government Undermines Civil Rights
Megan King
English 4
Mr. Kula
November 18th, 2014
CLAIM: The Russian Government Undermines Civil Rights.
The administration of President Vladimir Putin has chosen to abridge civil liberties in Russia and
demolish the growing power of nongovernmental democratic institutions. The government has
embarked on a strategy crush any opposing viewpoints and reinforce its own dominance. In July 2012,
Vladimir Putin went into action to suppress the basic human rights of Russians. The three fundamental
freedoms of assembly, association and speech were treated to fierce legal restriction. The Government
chose to ignore parliamentary procedures and numerous protests; many experts believe, that the new
laws governing demonstrations, NGOs [non governmental organisations], the libel and the legal
regulation of the Internet are proof that these three rights have not only been restricted, but effectively
terminated.
In the case of the homophobic laws, the government s motives are clear: to mobilise the support of the
most conservative section of Russian society. This primitive law that bans the so called promotion of
homosexuality , which openly institutes legal discrimination based on sexual identity. In Russia there
is severe criticism of homosexuality. Homosexuals are publicly abused with the tormentors facing no
legal punishment. LGBT [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender] people are being targeted by anti
gay propaganda and foreign agent laws; tormentors claim to be

During this experiment, one penny stayed almost the same, while the other one turned green and
completely changed. The experiments started with two cups. One was labeled water, while the other
one was labeled vinegar. In each cup, paper towels were placed at the bottom. In the cup labeled
vinegar, vinegar was added and in the cup labeled water, water was added. Then, one penny was
placed in each cup and observed on a span of four days. On the first day, penny A (cup with water)
looked the same. Penny B (cup with vinegar) had a strong smell and the penny looked shinier. Later
on in the week, penny A looked a little brown but mainly stayed the same. Penny B had some bubbles,

The first error that might have occurred was that the water and vinegar might have been covering the
entire penny and the penny might not have been exposed to enough air. If the penny was not exposed
to enough air, then the penny could have reacted differently toward the experiment. The paper towels
were dry towards the end of the experiment and more water and vinegar was not added to the cups.
This could have affected the way the penny was affected. With more water and vinegar, the pennies
may have gotten more green or may have has a stronger reaction. At the end of the experiment, the
pennies were taken out of the cups and placed a new paper towel. The towel was then labeled with
sharpies and left to sit there for a day. The different chemicals in the sharpies could have affected the
way the penny reacted. Since the sharpie marker was so close to the pennies, they could have easily
been affected. Another experiment that people may want to do next is to the same experiment, but
with different liquids. Instead of the vinegar being white vinegar, maybe one could try the experiment
with a different type of vinegar, like apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has different ingredients
and could be affected differently and have very different results. To conclude, there were many
possible errors during this experiment and many scientific reasons on why the pennies reacted the way

Analysis Of The Central Themes From Shakespeare s Henry Iv
What is honor? That question is one of the central themes from Shakespeare s Henry IV. Throughout
the play Shakespeare provides many different views of honor, but never directly states what honor is.
Which makes sense because honor is a rather abstract concept that seems to vary depending on who
states their opinion. There are some universal ideas of honorable deeds but the word itself is rarely
defined by individuals. Two of the characters within the play have very different ideas of honor and
vary greatly in their desire for it. They are Hotspur and Falstaff, Hotspur appears to have a very clear
idea of what honor is and he pursues honor with great fervor. However, Falstaff questions the very
existence of honor and has little to no desire for it. The ideas of Falstaff and Hotspur about honor are
vastly different.
Falstaff and Hotspur differ significantly in their idea of honor. Hotspur believes honor is all about
glory and being the center of attention. While Falstaff is only certain that the dead have honor but is
unsure about what it is as described by this excerpt of his soliloquy, No. What is honour? . Hotspur
believes that honor is derived from epic or heroic deeds, these deeds tends to be very physical in
nature such as the honor gained from battle. Bravery and the acts associated with it is an additional
font from which honor can flow freely. This is described by the line, O the blood more stirs To rouse a

The Importance Of The Symbol System Of The Msm Liturgy On...
1.0 Introduction Ritual can be defined as a religious or solemn ceremony which is made up of a
sequence of actions performed in order to achieve a particular outcome. The purpose of this
ethnographic report is to examine the effectiveness of the symbol system of the MSM liturgy in terms
of the ritual purpose and the extent of the reflection on Christian stories and beliefs of the Easter
Triduum. This case study aims to analyse the level of engagement and understanding in the
community of the symbol system represented in the MSM liturgy in terms of the Easter Triduum by
surveying students and conducting an interview. The symbol system of the MSM liturgy on Holy
Thursday was highly effective in engaging the community in a reflection on the Easter Story when the
participants came with prior knowledge, as this offered a better understanding and insight to the
liturgy which made it easier to follow. The contemporary symbols were engaging and effectively
communicated the Easter Story to the whole community, whereas the traditional elements were
ineffective in engaging the majority of the members. 2.0 Method of Inquiry 2.1 Primary Data Primary
data was data collected and is evident throughout the report in the form of student surveys (Refer to
appendix 1), teacher interviews (Refer to appendix 2), Ms Terrey s address as well as photos and the
order of service which was gathered from the liturgy and booklet. All the primary sources provided

My Favorite Places On Earth Essay
One of my most favorite places on earth is Albany, Wyoming. In my mind it is one of the beautiful
places to be on earth. Albany is truly a beautiful place to be. It is beautiful seeing all the snow covered
mountains during the winter. If you ever get a chance to travel there I would highly recommend it. The
way the land changes so fast is truly a sight to see.
The first time I experienced Albany was in the winter of 2015. It was my first time out west during the
winter. It was very weird on our way out there. There wasn t any snow the entire way there but once
we got there I was truly amazed how much snow they had on the mountains and how one moment I
was seeing nothing but flat fields and the next I was heading up the mountain.
The drive to Wyoming was the worst part of the trip for me. Nebraska is the worst part of the trip.
There is nothing to see in Nebraska except flat endless fields. Every once and awhile you ll see some
wildlife or a tumbleweed roll across the road. Once I got to Wyoming the drive seemed to fly by
because there was a lot more to scenery to look at.
Once I got up the mountains there was hardly any wildlife because of how deep the snow is during the
winter. Even without the wildlife around the trees and landscape draws you in. The way the landscape
changes so fast is truly amazing. One moment I would be in dense forest and the next i would be on
top of a mountain without any trees around. The beauty of the way the landscape changes just draws

12 Angry Men Core Values
The 1957 movie twelve angry men tell a complete story of what it is like to be on a jury for a murder
case in which they chose whether or not a kid should live. For the start of the movie you soon realize
that the twelve men all have different core values. What is noticed soon turns out to be true in the
coming minutes with the group sitting down and beginning to vote. With one lone person stating not
guilty. That juror was named Mr. Davis. Mr. Davis leads everyone into grunts and groans as he tries to
persuade the other eleven jurors to switch the vote. The most noticeable thing that has happened
through the movie analysis is how well the college, student body reflects the core values as three of
the jurors. The movie shows three specific types of core values connecting to the college student
logical thinking, wisdom, and lastly emotional attachment. The first thing college students have in
common with the movie is the 8th juror in how we are taught to think. Day one of college is always
stressful then through the year you have to learn to switch the way you think and start thinking
logically. In the movie the juror has to provide evidence on how a kid could be innocent and so he
uses very logical thinking to not raise his voice and let biases get in the way of his thinking. He shows
many examples of how loud the train could sound, to how fast a man with a gimp leg could walk.

Asher Lev s Crucifixion Paintings as an Act of Disrespect Towards His Parents
Asher Lev paints against the values of his family and community. He disregards Jewish traditions and
observance by pursuing his passion for art. His individuality has him disobeying the Rebbe, the
mashphia, his mythic ancestor as well as his parents. Asher does not intend for his artwork to be
harmful, but that they convey truths and feelings. Yet, the Brooklyn Crucifixions cause shame for his
observant Jewish parents. In that way, he disrespects their teachings and wishes. He challenges the
Jewish belief on modesty in creating nude works and disturbs the Hasidic community in his Christian

When his father sees the paintings in the New York museum, he is in such extreme shock and anger
that he says nothing to Asher but gives him a look. His face wore an expression of awe and rage and
bewilderment and sadness all at the same time. Asher s father feels ultimately disgraced by Asher. He
does not want to believe that it is his son for no son of Aryeh Lev could be that disrespectful.
Asher deeply cares for his mother and does not want to upset her, but he disobeys her anyway. At four
years old he is encouraged by her to draw pretty things , which is in contrast to Jacob Kahn s advice to
draw with passion. Asher s mother already suspects that there would be something in the Museum that
Asher would be afraid to reveal to them. Asher looks at his mother and takes her by the hand to

Granulomatous Tissue Essay
Granulomatous tissue is a typically small area of inflammatory cells that have fused together, to create
large multinucleated cells to fight against infectious bacteria. Granulomas are most prominently
located in the lung, though they can also be found throughout various parts of the body, often due to
prolonged infection. The inflammation in granulomas, is a cell mediated hypersensitive reaction to
persistent micro bacteria, often found in pulmonary infections, whether it be a fungal, bacterial,
parasitic or mycobacterial infection. Most commonly, granulomatous tissue is found to be associated
with the mycobacterial infection that is Tuberculosis. Tuberculous is caused by a persistent bacterium,

The granulomas associated with tuberculosis are both necrotising and non necrotising. The
involvement with lung parenchyma leads to; peribronical, perivascular, interstitial and alveolar
granulomatous tissue formation. These lesions can either transform into a fibrocaseous granuloma,
developing a dense fibrous capsule, or can undergo liquefaction and cavitation. Cavitation of the
liquefactive exudate releases into an airway in is evacuated. The exudate released from these
developments can occasionally develop into a granulomatous tuberculosis pneumonia.
Though there are various forms of mature granulomas and different causes for development, the key
feature of the inflammatory masses is characterised by the primary cell types involved. This includes;
foamy cells, uninfected epithelioid macrophages, giant multinucleated cells and CD4+ T cells (T
helper, or Th, lymphocytes). Though there are other immune cells involved (i.e. fibroblasts,
neutrophils, etc) these primary cell types affect the function of the granuloma s development and
function and play a vital role in the effectiveness of walling off bacterium for eradication. Within a

Public Health Initiatives For Preventing Heart Disease And...
Health Care
Currently the support for public health initiatives to prevent heart disease and stroke are low,
constituting to less than 3% of the total budget of state public health agencies. Despite considerable
public health advances in previous years, failing to stop and reverse the menace has been very costly.
The number of fatalities and health care expenses only continue to escalate day by day. Out of the ten
essential public health services, I recommend three. First, inform, educate and empower people about
health issues. People are not informed on the issue. The provision of information ensures stroke
patients get to hospitals as fast as possible. Sharing experience and knowledge on heart disease and
stroke prevention with all stakeholders goes to uprooting the menace at the root. The second is to
investigate health problems and health hazards, and diagnose then within the community. Research
has to be fostered policies and public health initiatives intended to prevent the menace, particularly, at
the community level. Lastly is to ensure that there are qualified public and personal healthcare
personnel. Heart disease patients require effective interventions and best practices when receiving

Big Data Is Not A New Technology

Big data is not a new technology, however applied to the rapidly growing and changing field of cyber
security, big data companies are finding new and emerging ways to use big data analytics to gain a
competitive edge (Emerging Trends in Big Data Analytsis for 2015, 2015). Big data analysis looks for
and utilizes the patterns extracted from large volumes of data. (Kantarcioglu, 2015). One of the
important uses of big data analytics is in the detection, discovery, and prevention of cyber security
threats. Big data analysis is also instrumental in the collection and analysis of the large volumes of

How Big Data Analytics Can Be Used to Improve or Support Cyber Security Big data analytics shows
a number of promising applications to improve and support cybersecurity. No longer can companies
and organizations rely on traditional cyber security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and anti
virus software. One of the most obvious of these is in the early detection and prevention of cyber
threats. Using a visual analytic system, IT professionals can use software that will analyze large scale
high dimensional cyber security datasets containing logs of a million computers (Chen, 2015). This
analysis will help detect unexpected changes taking places in all areas of the data and identify
potential anomalies, and help protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the data. Big data
analytics can not only help detect potential future cyber attacks, it can be used to help detect a breach
that is in progress (Kern, 2015). By applying machine learning techniques, new security events can be
identified based on historical patterns (Enhancing Cybersecurity with Big Data: Challenges
Opportunities, 2014). Documentation and prevention of cybersecurity attacks is another key

Essay about The Abortion Debate
The Abortion Debate There are few issues that can cause as many heated and sometimes, irrational,
debates than that of abortion. The issue strikes at the very heart of an individual s religious and
philosophical beliefs. Does a woman have the right to terminate a pregnancy? Is it moral to do so in
any circumstance? Is a fetus a living human being? The debate has raged for nearly thirty years and
there does not seem to be any end to the controversy that often results in violence. Irrational
individuals who have committed murder want to make their beliefs heard and followed. In response to
the question, some people have resulted to using qualifiers: no, abortion is not moral except if the

Some of her analogies border on the absurd such as attempting to compare a young boy who does not
want to share his box of candy with his younger brother to a pregnant woman who does not want to
share her body with this unwanted fetus. It is simply not a rational comparison. Equally absurd would
be to counterargue that the little brother is already living, the aborted fetus has not been given the
opportunity to live. Ronald Dworkin argued that the law should not call abortion murder. For him, this
is a First Amendment issue that deals with the separation of church and state. Dworkin s rationale
focused on the fact that most religions do not agree on when life actually begins at conception, as a
four month fetus or at birth. He alleged that abortion was a religious decision and as such should not
be restricted by the law. Pope John Paul II, on the other hand, left no question about abortion in the
Catholic Church. The Pope has often argued vigorously that abortion is murder and condemns laws
that permit abortion as being intrinsically unjust, lacking in authentic juridical validity, and not being
morally binding (Thomson, 1996; p. htm). Dworkin said that there should be an agreement on the

Dances With Wolves Essay
Dances With Wolves
No matter how you choose to categorize human beings, whether by race or religion, nationality or
gender, the resultant categories will display at least one immutable constant. Each group, no matter
how diverse their beliefs or how dissimilar their behaviors, will contain men of honest and peaceful
natures as well as men of divisive and violent natures. In the film Dances With Wolves, we are
exposed to two distinct categories of people inhabiting post civil war America, the white man and the
Native American. We, most likely, begin the movie with defined ideas as to which group contains
honest, peaceful men and which group contains violent and savage men. We are, however, exposed to
behaviors which are in opposition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, compassionate, thinking white men are definitely in the minority in this film.
When John begins his Westward move, the crude, maniacal white man makes his reappearance. The
officer who gives John the information about getting to his new post appears to be downright insane
and apparently kills himself. The guide who accompanies John to his post is also no prize. John refers
to him as the foulest man alive (Dances with Wolves). This constant exposure to the violent and crude
men who make up the white race is an effective first step in shifting our sympathies. We want to
distance ourselves from these shameful characters. We don t want to identify with them.
Our first exposure to Indians is a mere suggestion of the expected stereotype. We are shown a skeleton
on the ground with an arrow stuck through it. So far so good. We are accustomed to that image.
Dunbar s guide states that Indians are nothin but thieves and beggars and that you only want to see
them when they are dead (Dances with Wolves). He, of course, is such an exemplary man that it s not
ironic at all to hear him degrading someone else.
From the beginning of the film we are given hints that Dunbar is not like his fellow ugly Americans.
When John and his guide arrive at the deserted Fort, the guide is in a hurry to be away. He is nervous
and uncomfortable and thinks nothing of leaving without accomplishing what he was sent to do.

Examples Of Isolation In A Rose For Emily
In William Faulkner s short story, A Rose for Emily, Emily Grierson, a prominent member of her
small town, dies alone in her home. Upon her death, curious townsfolk entered her home trying to

A Rose for Emily is a short story based in a small town. The narrator focuses a lot on Emily Grierson
after her death, which contributed to the odd circumstances of her life. The narrator said multiple
times they believed she wasn t crazy. However, their actions proved to show the opposite.
Emily s father played a role in her isolation. Her town believed she was crazy because of the way she

The Americanization Of Edward Bok And The America I Believe
Since the dawn of American colonization in the early 1600s, the notion of immigrating to America has
long been instilled upon various people as a stimulating opportunity to begin a fresh chapter in their
lives. Even now, this possibility has brought many variations of people to America, culminating a
society that brims with dreams and aspirations to form the diversified nation of today. When speaking
of the current state of immigration, it is easy to conclude that immigration is heavily discussed from
political standpoints. Though this current condition is composed of highly controversial perspectives,
many of the early century viewpoints found in literature genuinely embrace reality, for these writers
were indeed immigrants themselves, thus adding an authoritative standpoint over immigration. The
Americanization of Edward Bok (1921) by Edward Bok and The America I Believe In by Colin
Powell, display the perspectives of two authors, who have lived as immigrants, through their own
personal anecdotes. Both Edward Bok and Colin Powell convey a sincerely grateful tone and develop
the idea of Americanization and the quest for opportunity through the use of connotative diction in
contrast to the Immigration Chart and Political Cartoon which have a downright concrete and
pessimistic tone and supports the idea that immigration exposes various challenges to incoming
immigrants. Throughout majority of the two passages, Edward Bok and Colin Powell both convey
their perspectives

Animistic Beliefs
Under the same regard as Catholics pray not only to the Lord, but to their ancestors, saints, and the
Holy Mother during times of need, and in the same regard that most Christians pray for each other
during hardships, it is acceptable for those who hold animistic beliefs to pray to alternative sources as
well. Prayers, after all, are simply the method of communicating to those beyond the reach of our
normal perceptions. There is a wide divide between communicating and worshipping. One of the
strongest principles of Christianity is the Holy Spirit, the essence of the Lord that fills all things and
inhabits all people, beckoning them to accept the divine and guiding them towards righteousness.

The differences between idolatry and respect are vast, but the line between them can be thin. Without
using a Christianized filter of thought, many practitioners of animistic traditions fall victim to Pagan
actions. It is easy for God s works to be misinterpreted, misused, and mistreated. Unless one can
recognize that the spirits of their belief exist solely because of the Holy Spirit placed within them by
the Lord, they risk performing idolatry and falling into polytheistic worship. However, when reviewed
with a Christianized filter of thought, one may derive different messages through scripture. In Exodus,
the Lord states that [t]hou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any
graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or
that is in the water under the earth (Exo. 20. 4 5). While not necessarily dictating that the faithful
should not believe in other spiritual entities, the Lord merely states that such entities should not be
respected above Him. Faithful should not idolize anything in the skies, the earth, or the waters,
although the skies, earth, and waters themselves may be another story. Regardless, these forces of
nature are only divine because the Lord has made them so, and nothing should be respected above the
Lord himself. These forces should not be worshipped. The Lord s faithful should not bow to them nor
serve them. However, just as the faithful are commanded to love thy neighbor, the faithful that believe
that aspects of the natural world embody spiritual entities should extend this precept to these spirits as
well. When they love thy neighbor, they should extend their love to both the physical persons in their
lives as well as to the spiritual persons in their lives, and should recognize all the while the differences

Phenotypes In Animals Lab Report
Introduction A study was created on the difference between phenotypes in corn stalks. We planted
corn seeds to see what phenotype they would result in and record the data. Using statistical analysis,
we determined the expected and observed color of the stalks. There were some green and white. The
ratio we tested was 3:1, a monohybrid cross. This means the dominant trait is present 3 times, and the
recessive only one (NDSU 2000). The objective of this study was to compare our expected and
observed phenotypes between corn plants.
Methods Our methods were fairly simple. To make sure our results were accurate, we used three plant
pots to plant our seeds. We labeled the pots with our names and their cross numbers. Filling the pots
with soil, we made sure it was damp and not wet by squeezing the soil out and packing it in the pot
about half way. Then, we planted five seeds and spread them out, so they had room to grow. Lastly, we
covered the seeds with more soil, also packing it lightly but tightly. After the plants grew, we
examined and determined that our hypothesized ratio was 3:1 with a sample size of 38. Our
phenotypes were green and white. We used a Chi square analysis to determine our hypothesis. Null
hypothesis: There is no difference in phenotypes between corn plants. Our alternate hypothesis was
that there is a difference in phenotypes between corn plants.

We declared a number of 33 green stalks and 5 white stalks. Our expectations were moderately
accurate. We expected 28.5 green stalks and 9.5 white stalks (Figure 1). Our calculated X^2 value was
2.843 and our X^2 0.05,df critical value was 3.84, which resulting in accepting our null hypothesis
because our values were

The Formulation Of Public Policy
Sherri Torjman seems not to answer her own question, What is Policy as she skirts articulating any
concrete definition of policy as she attempts to explain what it is. She attempts to succinctly describe
policy, stating, At the end of the day, the formulation of public policy involves a process of making
good decisions for the public good (2005, p. 18) but this is a description of how policy is made and
fails to define policy. Levison and Sutton (2001) also define policy as a verb by equating policy as a
practice of power (p. 2). This definition implies that policymakers are powerful when in there have
been times in our history that marginalized groups of people acquired more power as a result of policy.
Groups such as the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community (or communities, depending
on your perspective), could hardly be described as powerful yet they are moving public perception and
policy initiatives in new directions with rapidity politicians either envy or decry. Levison and Sutton
(2001) state that policy is a fluid and negotiated (Levison Sutton, 2001, p. 3) means to govern (p. 3)
diverse people and their values; it is a tug of war contrasting , values, desires, wants, and needs. Yet
this description of what policy is remains insufficient; policy is not just a means to govern. Means or
methods to govern implies lots of things besides or in addition to policy: with a big stick, by coalition
building, or as a compassionate

The Novel -victor Frankenstein
The world to me was a secret, which I desired to discover; to her it was a vacancy, which she sought to
people with imaginations of her own. Victor Frankenstein
Victor Frankenstein was and had always been a curious boy and intelligent boy. His childhood
consisted of revealing and investigating facts about the world that he lives in. This undoubtedly led to
his desire to explore and take part in adventures including his journey to the North Pole later on in his
life. The quote itself however, has several interpretations. The first part explains that the world had so
much to uncover, to reveal about itself. To Victor, he thought that it was a secret land that was yet to
be discovered and possessed so many secrets that were left to be unveiled to the public eye. At birth,
his curiosity lingered throughout not just childhood but also carried into his adult life. His curiosity
was his excuse that he created to take the blame for his actions. He was curious about nature, and also
about the fact that his father insisted on him not pursuing a career in chemistry. His insistence to find
the truth soon led to the demise of many of his loved ones through the creation of Frankenstein, the
monster he created because he was inclined to know about nature and chemistry. On the other hand,
Elizabeth was not curious. She viewed the world as a vacant, blank canvas that people sought to fill
with the imaginations and rather, aspirations of others as well as her. This shows the extreme

Essay about Buck versus Bell
Buck versus Bell
During the early twentieth century, the United States was enduring significant social and economic
changes due to its transformation into a commercial and industrial world power. As the need for labor
escalated within many urban areas, millions of Europeans emigrated from Southern and Eastern
Europe with the hopes of capitalizing upon these employment opportunities and attaining a better life.
Simultaneously, many African Americans migrated from the rural South into major cities, bearing the
same intentions as those of the European immigrants. The presence of these minority groups generated
both racial and class fears within white middle and upper class Americans. The fervent ethnocentrism
resulting from these fears, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to the negative eugenics position of the state of Virginia, involuntary sterilization laws
emphasizing breeding restrictions for society s unfit neither benefit the welfare of the individual nor
that of society for several moral and legal reasons. The legal validity of these involuntary sterilization
laws would be challenged within the Supreme Court case of Buck v. Bell. In September of 1924, at the
age of eighteen, Carrie Buck, an illegitimate daughter of an allegedly feebleminded woman, was
admitted to the Virginia s State Colony for Epileptics and the Feebleminded. Six months earlier, the
Virginia State Legislature decisively passed their involuntary sterilization bill authorizing the
Superintendents of five state institutions to petition for the permission to sterilize inmates. Buck, who
had a mental age of nine and an I.Q. of about fifty, had already given birth to an illegitimate child
herself, who was allegedly feebleminded as well. At the time, the Superintendent of the State Colony,
Dr. A. S. Priddy, petitioned for permission to sterilize this woman for fear that Buck would have more
mentally defective children. The statute had provided that each Superintendent needed to receive
permission from a special Board of Directors of that institution, who would hear the grounds for
sterilization and determine whether or not to follow through on the operation. Priddy faced immense
pressure from state officials to petition for sterilization, as

  • 7. How Does Golding Show Conflict Between Ralph, Jack Piggy... In lord of the flies, Golding presents a strong sense of conflict, between the boys, the boys and nature and the boy s personal lives. The theme of conflict is an important one within the novel, as it helps to represent the disagreement and fighting of World War II which was happening during the time that Lord of the flies was written and that Golding experienced first hand. Golding s main message in Lord of the flies was how cruel men could be to one another and conflict is an obvious link to this idea. The administration of President Vladimir Putin has chosen to abridge civil liberties in Russia and demolish the growing power of nongovernmental democratic institutions. The government has embarked on a strategy crush any opposing viewpoints and reinforce its own dominance. In July 2012, Vladimir Putin went into action to suppress the basic human rights of Russians. The three fundamental freedoms of assembly, association and speech were treated to fierce legal restriction. The Government chose to ignore parliamentary procedures and numerous protests; many experts believe, that the new laws governing demonstrations, NGOs [non governmental organisations], the libel and the legal regulation of the Internet are proof that these three rights have not only been restricted, but effectively terminated. In the case of the homophobic laws, the government s motives are clear: to mobilise the support of the most conservative section of Russian society. • 22. The Importance Of The Symbol System Of The Msm Liturgy On... 1.0 Introduction Ritual can be defined as a religious or solemn ceremony which is made up of a sequence of actions performed in order to achieve a particular outcome. The purpose of this ethnographic report is to examine the effectiveness of the symbol system of the MSM liturgy in terms of the ritual purpose and the extent of the reflection on Christian stories and beliefs of the Easter Triduum. This case study aims to analyse the level of engagement and understanding in the community of the symbol system represented in the MSM liturgy in terms of the Easter Triduum by surveying students and conducting an interview. The symbol system of the MSM liturgy on Holy Thursday was highly effective in engaging the community in a reflection on the Easter Story when the participants came with prior knowledge, as this offered a better understanding and insight to the liturgy which made it easier to follow. The contemporary symbols were engaging and effectively communicated the Easter Story to the whole community, whereas the traditional elements were ineffective in engaging the majority of the members. 2.0 Method of Inquiry 2.1 Primary Data Primary data was data collected and is evident throughout the report in the form of student surveys (Refer to appendix 1), teacher interviews (Refer to appendix 2), Ms Terrey s address as well as photos and the order of service which was gathered from the liturgy and booklet. Albany is truly a beautiful place to be. It is beautiful seeing all the snow covered mountains during the winter. If you ever get a chance to travel there I would highly recommend it. The way the land changes so fast is truly a sight to see. The first time I experienced Albany was in the winter of 2015. It was my first time out west during the winter. It was very weird on our way out there. There wasn t any snow the entire way there but once we got there I was truly amazed how much snow they had on the mountains and how one moment I was seeing nothing but flat fields and the next I was heading up the mountain. The drive to Wyoming was the worst part of the trip for me. Nebraska is the worst part of the trip. There is nothing to see in Nebraska except flat endless fields. Every once and awhile you ll see some wildlife or a tumbleweed roll across the road. Once I got to Wyoming the drive seemed to fly by because there was a lot more to scenery to look at. For the start of the movie you soon realize that the twelve men all have different core values. What is noticed soon turns out to be true in the coming minutes with the group sitting down and beginning to vote. With one lone person stating not guilty. That juror was named Mr. Davis. Mr. Davis leads everyone into grunts and groans as he tries to persuade the other eleven jurors to switch the vote. The most noticeable thing that has happened through the movie analysis is how well the college, student body reflects the core values as three of the jurors. The movie shows three specific types of core values connecting to the college student logical thinking, wisdom, and lastly emotional attachment. The first thing college students have in common with the movie is the 8th juror in how we are taught to think. Day one of college is always stressful then through the year you have to learn to switch the way you think and start thinking logically. In the movie the juror has to provide evidence on how a kid could be innocent and so he uses very logical thinking to not raise his voice and let biases get in the way of his thinking. Health Care Currently the support for public health initiatives to prevent heart disease and stroke are low, constituting to less than 3% of the total budget of state public health agencies. Despite considerable public health advances in previous years, failing to stop and reverse the menace has been very costly. The number of fatalities and health care expenses only continue to escalate day by day. Out of the ten essential public health services, I recommend three. First, inform, educate and empower people about health issues. People are not informed on the issue. The provision of information ensures stroke patients get to hospitals as fast as possible. Sharing experience and knowledge on heart disease and stroke prevention with all stakeholders goes to uprooting the menace at the root. The second is to investigate health problems and health hazards, and diagnose then within the community. Research has to be fostered policies and public health initiatives intended to prevent the menace, particularly, at the community level. Lastly is to ensure that there are qualified public and personal healthcare personnel. One of the most obvious of these is in the early detection and prevention of cyber threats. Using a visual analytic system, IT professionals can use software that will analyze large scale high dimensional cyber security datasets containing logs of a million computers (Chen, 2015). When speaking of the current state of immigration, it is easy to conclude that immigration is heavily discussed from political standpoints. Prayers, after all, are simply the method of communicating to those beyond the reach of our normal perceptions. There is a wide divide between communicating and worshipping. Without using a Christianized filter of thought, many practitioners of animistic traditions fall victim to Pagan actions. It is easy for God s works to be misinterpreted, misused, and mistreated. Unless one can recognize that the spirits of their belief exist solely because of the Holy Spirit placed within them by the Lord, they risk performing idolatry and falling into polytheistic worship. However, when reviewed with a Christianized filter of thought, one may derive different messages through scripture. In Exodus, the Lord states that [t]hou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth (Exo. 20. 4 5). While not necessarily dictating that the faithful should not believe in other spiritual entities, the Lord merely states that such entities should not be respected above Him. Faithful should not idolize anything in the skies, the earth, or the waters, although the skies, earth, and waters themselves may be another story. Regardless, these forces of nature are only divine because the Lord has made them so, and nothing should be respected above the Lord himself. These forces should not be worshipped. The Lord s faithful should not bow to them nor serve them. However, just as the faithful are commanded to love thy neighbor, the faithful that believe that aspects of the natural world embody spiritual entities should extend this precept to these spirits as well. There were some green and white. The ratio we tested was 3:1, a monohybrid cross. This means the dominant trait is present 3 times, and the recessive only one (NDSU 2000). The objective of this study was to compare our expected and observed phenotypes between corn plants. Methods Our methods were fairly simple. To make sure our results were accurate, we used three plant pots to plant our seeds. We labeled the pots with our names and their cross numbers. Filling the pots with soil, we made sure it was damp and not wet by squeezing the soil out and packing it in the pot about half way. Then, we planted five seeds and spread them out, so they had room to grow. Lastly, we covered the seeds with more soil, also packing it lightly but tightly. After the plants grew, we examined and determined that our hypothesized ratio was 3:1 with a sample size of 38. Our phenotypes were green and white. She attempts to succinctly describe policy, stating, At the end of the day, the formulation of public policy involves a process of making good decisions for the public good (2005, p. 18) but this is a description of how policy is made and fails to define policy. Levison and Sutton (2001) also define policy as a verb by equating policy as a practice of power (p. 2). This definition implies that policymakers are powerful when in there have been times in our history that marginalized groups of people acquired more power as a result of policy.
