Mononucleosis Symptoms and Treatment
First seen in 1889, Mononucleosis was originally named the Drüsenfieber, or having a glandular fever. They
converted to the name we now know of mononucleosis in 1920 when they saw an increasing the number of
lymphocytes that were seen in the blood of a group of college students who showed signs such as fevers and
other distinct symptoms of this virus. Mononucleosis was nicknamed mono , is an infectious agent caused by
the Epstein Barr virus (EBV). This infection is very common especially amongst the adolescents; another name
that this virus is labeled under is the kissing disease . EBV is scientifically classified to be a member of the
herpes family of viruses. An antibody that fights EBV can be detected in the blood streem of most people by the
time arrive at adult age. When this infection happens during childhood, the virus almost absolutely yields no
symptoms. only about 10% of those children that become infected with EBV is estimated to develop the illness.
In the same inference it is assumed that due to the developed immunity, most adults probably will not
developed the illness. In the U.S., there are up to 95% of adults ages 35 40 years that have antibodies directed
against the EBV. Unfortunately this is a clear indicator that most people have been infected with EBV at
sometime in their lives. This explain why some people are against their babies being kissed and makes you
wonder is the one that are open to just anyone kissing their children have this

The Common Complication Following Surgical Procedures
Infections are the most common complication following surgical procedures and are associated with significant
morbidity, mortality and increased cost in health care (Anderson, 2014). As a nurse working in a surgical
capacity this is a concern for the patients. Working for a general surgeon, surgical site infections are not
commonly seen in the office, however, it remains one of the top concerns for the well being of patients. Many
evidence based studies are aimed at nurses who provide care for patients in the pre, peri, and post operative
periods. Perioperative nurses prepare the skin for surgery to remove soil and microorganisms at the point of
incision (Cowperthwaite Holm, 2015). Surgical site infections are easy to reduce given the proper guidelines for
prevention. This includes skin antisepsis, and surgical hand hygiene and technique.
A National Patient Safety Goal set up by the Joint Commission is to prevent surgical site infections (The Joint
Commission, 2015). One of the ways this is done is through reducing bacteria at the surgical site. Skin is not
sterile, but reducing the number of bacteria on the skin may help reduce surgical site infections. (Cowperthwaite
Holm, 2015) The circulating nurse, along with other key personnel, plays a key role in preventing surgical site
infections. Proper technique must be used to reach the highest level of protection, starting with skin preperation.
Typically, in the operating room setting, there are two skin

Health Care Industry Analysis Paper
The health care industry consists of several industries that provide services to private and business consumers.
In 1886, Robert, James and Edward Johnson created a company that has since revolutionized the creation and
production of healthcare products for all ailments. From their formation in a New Jersey garage, to operating in
over 60 countries worldwide, Johnson Johnson comprises more than 250 companies and employs nearly
200,000 worldwide (Johnson Johnson Services, 2016). Dating back to the early 1900 s, Johnson Johnson has
continued to be the leading resource for providing healthcare products to consumers throughout the world.
In the event of an emergency, readily available kits did not exist with emergency response items, however,
Johnson Johnson became the first company to provide first aid kits to the public back in 1888 (Gurowitz, 2013).
Johnson Johnson introduced a line of maternity products back in 1894, designed to help women during
childbirth; which was also another industry first (Johnson Johnson Services, 2016). For the next fifty years,
Johnson Johnson secured their name as the world leader in consumer healthcare products. Total United States
sales equaled $34.8 billion, according to the 2014 Citizen and Sustainability Report, which increased from 2013
sales which were $31.9 billion and a decrease from the 2015 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

demand increases, the expectation of transparency does as well. Companies within the healthcare market

research and development to keep up with customer

Government Enforcement, Crime And The American Population...
On July 4, 1776, thirteen colonies declared independence from English rule, eventually forming the United
States of America ( American History, 2016). Built upon a unique platform of autonomy, the United States
provides citizens with freedoms not present in other countries. In order to preserve such freedoms, the
Constitution of the United States was enacted in 1797, outlining an array of rights and privileges afforded to all
citizens of the country ( American History, 2016). However, as in any society, crime and abuse pervaded the
peace of the nation, continuing to date. Methods of public, social control span deep into the history of the
United States, in an effort to combat wrongful, illicit activity, or crime. With the first official police force
established in 1838, law enforcement has grown rapidly within the nation, employing millions (Bureau of
Justice Statistics, 2015). Nevertheless, with the evolution of law enforcement, crime and the American
population have also evolved. In the present day United States, fear and unrest regarding personal rights and
freedoms are overwhelmingly prevalent, often creating controversy between the public and the police. Under
democratically inspired legal restraints, notably the Bill of Rights, the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and
Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution ensure the personal rights and freedoms of American
citizens against certain police related matters. The Fourth Amendment to the United States

Character Analysis Victor Frankenstein
Character Analysis
Victor Frankenstein is by far the most profound character that leads the plot of the story. Victor grows up in
Geneva reading works of remarkable and intelligent alchemists to understand more about the secrets of life.
This gradually affects him during his attendance in university at Ingolstadt, where he learns and masters all the
teaches his professors have to give him. Victor becomes intrigued with the secrets of heaven and earth, (Shelley
33). While he is the protagonist of the story, he narrates the events from his own point of view. From his
happiness and joy of creating a living being to his regret and demise to kill the monster. While studying in
Ingolstadt, Frankenstein discovers the truth and hideous of life. He creates a grotesque monster that ... Show

Frankenstein came through many hardships to destroy the monster, including the death of himself, his loved
ones, and innocent people who did not deserve to die. All the burden and deaths of the people fell onto
Frankenstein s shoulders. Victor s goal was to defy the natural process of human life and in the end he met his
demise. Victor Frankenstein grew up as a remarkably intelligent man with wealthy parents and a healthy
lifestyle. Frankenstein undoubtedly believes that he must fix his mistake and goes on a journey to find and kill
the monster; however, every clue and every close encounter ends with someone not involved dying. Victor tries
his hardest to keep the existence of the monster as a secret but fails when too many of injustices happen. As
time goes on his feeling of guilt and remorse expands and cannot prevent the disaster that will happen. I was
tempted to plunge into the silent lake, that the waters might close over me and my calamities forever (Shelley
81). Frankenstein is resorting to suicide to rid all his problems and fear that he must deal with. He believes that
he can save himself from misery by ending his life. Little did he know that the monster will be

Increasing Trend Of Non Albicans Cutaneous Candidiasis
Increasing trend in Non albicans Cutaneous Candidiasis: Implications in treatment strategies
Introduction:
Cutaneous candidiasis is a secondary infection of the skin (body folds) and nails in predisposed patients.1 The
disease involvement may be localised or generalised to the skin or nails.2
The clinical manifestations of Candidiasis are of three types: mucocutaneous, cutaneous, and systemic.3 The
spectrum of Cutaneous candidiasis (CC): includes intertrigo, diaper candidiasis, paronychia, and
onychomycosis.4 Infections thrush, intertrigo, enterogastritis and others have long been known to be due to
abnormal proliferation of Candida cells.5
Candida species other than C.albicans have become a significant cause of infection in humans.6 Several of
these species are less susceptible to commonly used azole antifungal drugs.6
Hence, the identification of the Candida isolates upto species level along with their antifungal susceptibility
patterns can greatly influence the treatment options for the clinicians and may have an impact on the patient
care.7 Hence this study was done.
Aims and objectives:
1. To isolate Candida species from suspected cases of Cutaneous Candidiasis.
2. To speciate the isolated Candida.
3. To find the antifungal susceptibility for voriconazole and fluconazole among the isolates.
Materials Methods:

Wal Mart Essay
What impresses me about Wal Mart is its growth in the past four decades. It is unbelievable how large the
company has gotten in the time it has been open. As of 2004, it had almost 5,000 stores across the world with
profits of $9 billion. It is impressive that its strategy of low prices hasn t been duplicated by that many
companies. Wal Mart has also made the transition into the foreign market and has done extremely well. It has
over 1,000 different foreign locations in nine different countries as of 2004. There are not many things that

wide selection, a big percentage of name brand merchandise, a customer friendly store environment, low
operating costs, innovative merchandising, a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, disciplined expansion
into new geographic markets, and using acquisitions to enter foreign markets. Out of the five generic strategies
Wal Mart is employing the overall low cost strategy: lower cost and a broad cross section of buyers. The chief
components of its strategy included in Wal Mart s multiple store format strategy include Discount stores,
Supercenters, Sam s Clubs, and Neighborhood markets. The major components of Wal Mart s expansion
strategy for domestic stores is to use a backward expansion by starting in smaller geographic areas, saturating
each area with stores before moving into the larger metropolitan centers. The components of merchandising
innovation include testing, adapting, and applying a wide range of cutting edge merchandising approaches. Wal

The Downside Of Teleporting In Star Trek
Teleportation
An Introduction to Teleporting
Beam me up, Scotty!
When Star Trek was first released in 1966, teleportation was only a dream. Now a days, people are claiming
that future generations as soon as great grandchildren will be able to teleport with ease. There are, however,
many things that Star Trek hasn t prepared fans for, and although there are many perks to teleportation, people
need to weigh in the risk factors as well. The pros may sound promising but, the cons tremendously outweigh
them.
The Downside of Teleportation
This paper could go on and on about the definition of life or crap like that, however that would be a large waste
of time and space. So, with that in mind, this paper shall continue on wayward.
First of all, by teleporting, all of the atoms in the human body would essentially deconstruct and then
reconstruct in a new place. With all of this assembling and disassembling taking place, an issue that needs to be
brought up and spoken about is whether or not there would be any mixed up body parts as a complication.
While the body is disassembling, the heart would temporarily stop beating and the person would die . However,
the person would not really die. The body would continue on with life . It would just be ... Show more content

No more super slow text messages being sent in a group chat. Just teleport that information right over to anyone
of choosing. No telling when this will actually be possible, but it certainly does seem worthy of trying out. The
speed of light transfer of the encoded information from one photon to another demonstrates the possibility of
secure communication between a network of remotely located quantum computers in the future.[3] This could
lead to more secure networks on the governmental level (if used properly) and maybe it could be open for the
public to use in the more distant

McMurphy keeps the fog at bay from Chief and prevents him from being submerged in it again. Chief is no
longer subjugated to the complete control of Ratched due to McMurphy s therapy in helping wean Chief off
Ratched, thus allowing Chief to stay conscious of the events around him. On the way to the fishing trip,
McMurphy talks his way out of any situation that could be a possible roadblock against their trip, such as the
gas fillers that question the sanity/credibility of the patients as a whole even showing the patients that acting
crazy and lunatic can be to their benefit (Kesey, 239). By acting crazy, the patients are no longer restrained by
the unnerving sense of uncertainity about everything and are able to set loose all the subdued emotions. Seeing
this, Chief lets loose as he can finally be himself around McMurphy, something that he hasn t been able to do
for a long time. Not only Chief, but all the patients gain a sense of confidence, something that Ratched had tried
to suppress in order to maintain ultimate control and prolong their stay at the ward. Because of McMurphy s
constant challenging of control of the ward through various staged rebellions , Ratched orders a thorough
cleaning of the patients after their fishing excursion, and George Sorensen, one of the patients, has
germaphobia. When one of the aides forced salve, a thick, black, cleaning solution onto George s body,
Knowing the mental suffering that George goes through when else touches him, McMurphy engages in an
altercation with the aides for furthering the mental problems George has even though it is under the
authorization of Ratched. Chief follows suit and both are sent up to the Disturbed ward (274 5). By Chief s
entering into the fight, Chief acts as the walk in McMurphy s talk. Chief is

LUXURY BRAND MARKETING
What is LUXURY?
While the word luxury is used in daily lives to refer to certain lifestyle, the underlying construct s definition is
consumer and situation specific. If you earn less than 15000 a month, a pair of reebok shoes would be a really
big luxury item for you. On the other hand, if you are going to a party with some big wigs a $100,000 car may
not be a luxury. The word luxury originates from the Latin term luxus signifying, soft or extravagant living,
indulgence, sumptuousness or opulence
The meaning of luxury is extremely subjective and multidimensional in nature. It depends on dimension such as
high price, high quality, uniqueness, exclusivity etc.

How Is Siddhartha Successful
Great achievement is always correlated with fame and riches, but is that all? What about happiness, knowledge,

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Persecution
When you think yours is the only true path you forever chain yourself to judging others and narrow the vision
of God. The road to righteousness and arrogance is a parallel road that can intersect each other several times
throughout a person s life. It s often hard to recognize one road from another. What makes them different is the
road to righteousness is paved with the love of humanity. The road to arrogance is paved with the love of self.
(Shannon L. Alder). This means many people are acquitted but some people still are tormenting them without
any resistant. Crime, hate, torture, and violence all lead to religious persecution. Every person in the world has
its own personality and belief. These beliefs cause opponents between people and to seek revenge these people

This persecution didn t recoil right now, but started long ago, most of the genocide occurred because of race and

Every person in the world has a right to not be persecuted because of their believe. Should religious persecution
occur in any country such as: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, or Turkmenistan? Should there be violence and threat
towards people because of their belief? Is it possible to stop this tragedy event happening in many countries? Or
will there be an end towards hatred, violence, and death? Every person can give a helping hand and stand up for

Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps ( Irgc )
Anyone who has even the slightest clue about anything related to world news has the basic understanding that
Iran is a major player in the world of politics. From miscellaneous missile launches to disputes with other
foreign nations, they have strong armed their way onto the international stage. Iran has become the largest
threat in the Middle Eastern region as a result of the efforts of their fairly infant Iranian Revolutionary Guard
Corps (IRGC). Plunging in for a closer look, the strength of the IRGC impresses not only politics, but the
socioeconomic culture of Iran but not in the most positive fashion.
Formally known as Persia, Iran s military history spans back to the time period before Christ existed. Through
thousands of years of regime changes, in more modern times, Iran has adopted a two headed military system.
These two factions are the Artesh and the Sepah (more commonly known as Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps
[IRGC]). The Artesh is the national defense force or the conventional army of Iran. The Artesh protect the
borders and carry out other internal responsibilities while the IRGC serves as the offensive entity. The Artesh
has more soldiers than the IRGC, but the IRGC is the face and strength of Iran. The birth of the IRGC was a
result of the Iranian Revolution of 1979. The ability of the IRGC to not only stand up as an Army, but to
essentially eradicate the Iraqi presence from Iran to end the 8 year Iraq Iran War legitimizes its existence even
to this day.

The Suicide Note By Janice Mirikitani
TOPIC
There are times when we feel like we must be perfect in other to please others. No matter if we did the best we
could, if it isn t perfect, we felt like a failure. We want the approval that comes with perfectness but
perfectionism is not the same thing as striving to be our best. Perfectionism is not about healthy achievement
and growth; it s a shield. Perfectionism is refusal to accept any standard short of perfection. Suicide Note, by
Janice Mirikitani, is about an Asian American college student who commits suicide by jumping from her
dormitory window. This poem is read as the suicide note that was left behind by this young woman to apologize
to her parent s for having received less than a perfect four point grade average and not being perfect in life. Her
last thoughts and feelings were left on this note, describing why she did what she did. The pressure to succeed
that this student felt from herself and her parents was far too much to overcome. Even though the girl worked
really hard and did her very best, it wasn t good enough in her mind and maybe in her parents minds to be
worthy of her parents love or life itself and so her only option was death to atone for her sin of imperfection.
Sometimes pressure to succeed that a student feels from herself and her parents is far too much to overcome.
This poem begins by describing some of the harsh feelings associated with failure. She starts by writing, How

producing 74,315 RVUs at an aggregate 7.38 cFTE (10,070 RVUs per 1 cFTE) for the year. In January 2016 Dr.
Donald Green and Dr. Rifat Latifi exited the university and the health system, followed by Dr. Peter Rhee in
June 2016, reducing the division to 7 surgeons. In November 2016 Dr. Arpana Jain was recruited in, bringing
the division up to 8 surgeons, with an open slot for a 9th surgeon being actively recruited. As of November
2016, the division has produced 60,283 RVUs at an aggregate 5.96 cFTE (10,115 RVUs per 1 cFTE) for the
year.
Dr. Rhee had served as the Division Chief since his faculty appointment in September 2007, thus his departure
left somewhat of a void in the division; however, Dr. Terence O Keeffe (who was one of Dr. Rhee s first recruits
and also serves as Chief of Staff) was immediately appointed Interim Division Chief and has stepped up to take
the challenge head on, working closely with Dr. Neumayer and the administrative leadership team to ensure
continuity of operations and continued positive trending in the division. At the close of 2016, the division is
actively working on a SWOT analysis with the assistance of Professor Emeritus Charles Putnam MD, PhD. The
SWOT analysis will lay the groundwork for future strategic planning, including determination of a permanent
Division Chief.

Lying from the Tip of Our Tongues
Tell the truth, live the truth, do the truth, or there will be terrible consequences.

You come through the door and you see that look in their eyes, they know. All this time, all those lies; all of it
just to make sure that they didn t have to know, all so they didn t get that look in their eyes. Now you enter

This is a race that is categorized by its ability to be completely unpredictable. Why walk and turn left or right,
jog or run, go fast or slow, why do any of the things you do and when you do them? Life is full of choices, as
humans we ve a right to take advantage of the many possibilities. There can t be any one incentive. As people of
many choices, it is us that decide what the temptation to lie is, and there always is one.
People have made every excuse for their behavior. In which case, a less than truthful approach has always
seemed appealing. They don t want to hurt their loved ones, the truth can hurt, they didn t think of it as lying at
the time, they thought nobody would get hurt, it seemed fun at the time, they were trying to protect someone,
they were afraid, etc. At the core of it all, the only reason a liar lies is for self preservation. When someone is
insincere they are so because they believe that is their only way out or because that is easier. Lying is never
simple.
Who lies? From mothers to fathers, children to brothers and sisters, everybody lies. In a few interviews of the
college students in the University of Dayton, the results of inquiries about why lying is bad, proved
inconclusive. Many people believe that there is a distinction between being dishonest and telling lies. Yet, at the

Alterations: Comparing the Changes Caused by Marriage of the two Bessie Head Short Stories, Life and
Snapshots of a Wedding
Marriage is the union of two people, traditionally husband and wife. Traditional also are the roles that women
play when confined in a marriage. When a woman has had the opportunity to educate herself pass tradition and
has been use to a fast paced modern lifestyle, this role of the wife might prove to be quite onerous to mold to.
Usually a time of joy, celebration, and adulation, marriage may also bring along emotional and physical pain as
well as awkward situations, as the woman must alter herself to conform the traditional role of what a wife
should be. Bessie Head depicts two modernized, educated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being strong and independent women no longer matters as the men that they will call their husbands enter their
lives. Lesego and Kegoletile both represent the male figures and the change that Life and Neo must endure as
they conquer marriage. Lesego represents the authoritative male that is respected by all the people of the rural
village for his wealth and judgment. Life is attracted to
his power and control, but clearly underestimates them. It is with this man that Life decides to change her ways.
Life who represents all that is nontraditional clashes with the traditional Lesego.
His purpose is to marry Life and turn her into a proper village wife, one who does not throw loud parties, and
does not fornicate with other men (Kerschen 3).
Life, because of her nature is willing to try new things, welcomes the challenges that marriage bring. The
challenge of becoming a wife, which is a serious one, quickly alters Life s daily activities. All parties cease and
her mouth tell others that she has changed. All my old ways are over...I have now become a woman (Head 353),
is how Life exposes her transformation as a new wife. Kegoletile is not nearly as overbearing and demanding as
Lesego, but still provokes change in Neo. Perfectly fine with her prissy ways manner she is forced to change

Give All For All Analysis
For the reflection, I chose service among many different spiritual practices in this book. The reason why I chose
it was because I have been interested in serving others in a right way. The selection of Hadewijch Give all for
all helped me understand what God expects me to do for others. However, Richard Foster mentions at the end
of the selection that it was not easy to admit the truth that the author discussed. On my first time of reading, I
also had similar feeling like this. It s because my acts of service for others seem no longer commendable in the
sight of God according to his writing. As I read it over and over to fully understand its meaning, I realized that
my services that I have done for others may be not satisfying or pleasing God.
Through this reading, I looked back my ministry that I have done for others in the past. I thought I could be
proud of myself at least in this area, service. Regularly, I visit a nursing home to see an old lady who now
became my friend. I pick up a widow s three children once a week, feed them, help them finish their home

Essay on Discuss Homosexuality in the Beat Generation
In the age that coined the word togetherness as a synonym for family values, the Beats, each in his own style
mounted the first open, sustained assault in American history on the masculine role as heterosexual spouse,
father and grown up provider. In the midst of the Cold War crusade against all deviations from the masculine
norm, in the era that could almost be said to have invented the idea of classified information, they openly
addressed homosexuality, bisexuality, and masturbation in their work, declassifying the secrets of the male
body, making sexuality as complex as individual identity and pushing their chosen forms to new limits in the

This posits the idea that cultural historians were accurate in suggesting that this was a crucial decade for the
politicization of homosexuality.
The 1950 s were in fact the turning point of change. `The Mattachine Foundation , later re named `The
Mattachine Society , was one of the earliest gay organisations set up by Harry Hay in 1950. It s aim was to raise
consciousness among gay men, challenge anti gay discrimination and build a positive homosexual community
and culture. This proved nothing less than an arduous struggle with much opposition, illustrated by the
infamous `Stonewall night. A night that set America alight with gay rights and conflicts. The name `Mattachine
was meant to symbolise that fact that gays were a masked people, unknown and anonymous. This illustrates the
traditional 1950 s attitude towards homosexuality; the problem was thought to cease to exist if ignored.
Homosexuals were un natural, sacrilegious, and in need of control and subjugation.
These movements, although insurgent, had little impact upon attitudes, particularly in the literary world. The
question of homosexuality was still a taboo issue, not discussed or entertained; what s striking about America is
the lack of a specifically sexual politics. Stimpson sees it as an American fear of men together, which the curse

Analysis Of The Book A History Of The World
Synthesis Essay In the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage it is explained how the
Mesopotamians saw beer and bread as a way to distinguish those who are civilized and those who are savages.
Standage explains how beer had a great role if the Mesopotamian culture and how in many cases it was told in
their stories and legends. The Egyptians were not far off the infatuation with beer either. The Egyptians also
cherished beer greatly and was a great deal of importance to them especially because it was used as an offering
to their gods. In both cases beer holds an important value to both societies. Tom Standage explains the
similarities between the Mesopotamian and Egyptian views and values of beer, and how it affected their
religion and culture. Tom Standage describes how beer was greatly engraved in both Mesopotamian and
Egyptian culture. Standage explains that in Egyptian culture the phrases to make a beer hall and to sit in the
beer hall were very popular expressions that meant to have a good time It is explained how beer was a staple
food which was necessary in order to complete a beer. This especially came true with the Mesopotamians. The
expression pouring of beer meant the Mesopotamians were about to have a banquet or celebratory feast and this
was usually in regards to formal visits by the king. Beer was a universal drink in both cultures. Notice how in
every one of the Egyptian and Mesopotamian expressions the involvement of beer is

Advantages Of Debit Card Vs Credit Card
The Advantages of Debit Card versus Credit Card The advantages of debit card versus credit cards used by
young adults are debit cards will not allow you to mismanage, overspend or go into debt. The most common
explanation for credit card debt for people under the age of 25. Demographic and credit trends show that young
people, and in particular students, may be the next segment of credit users that will face difficult financial
times. In the United States, there are 19.1 million students who are attending colleges and universities (US
Department of Education 2009). They account for approximately 6% of a population of 308 million people (US
Census Bureau 2011). On average, students possess 4.6 credit cards (SallieMae 2009). They also owe more on
their credit cards than they did just a few years ago; in 2004, students owed, on average, $2,900 on credit cards
whereas in 2009 this figure soared by 78% to $4,100 (SallieMae 2009). Moreover, young consumers account
for the second largest rate of bankruptcy in the United States (Sullivan, Thorne, and Warren 2001). Together,
these figures suggest that young adult consumers in America spend more with their credit cards than they
should. In addition, research shows that credit card debt is associated with financial stress (Grable and Joo
2006) as well as poor academic achievement (Pinto, Parente, and Palmer 2001). The desire to use credit as a
form of payment but with no steady income available to repay the credit line. For

Essay about A New Educational Philosophy for Law...
Since the mid 1980 s there has been a paradigm shift in law enforcement from the military policing model to
the community oriented policing model (Breci Erickson, 1998; Pliant, 1998; Rosenbaum Yeh, 1994; Thayer
Reynolds, 1997; Varricchio, 1998). In the military model, police react to events in the community (Thayer
Reynolds, 1997). Community problems filter up the chain of command and solutions filter their way back
down. Police respond when a crime is committed. There is little contact with the members of the community
until the crime has already happened. Therefore, contact with the public tends to be through negative situations

There must be a commitment on the part of city leaders and police administration. A department wide strategy
must be in place to carry out the community oriented policing program. Finally, all personnel in the department,
including civilian employees, must be educated on the philosophy of community policing.
Law enforcement s transition away from a militaristic tradition that presented an us vs. them relationship with
the community will be a difficult process. A shift in educational philosophy will be required to make this
transition. To effectively train today s law enforcement officers there must be a move away from the
Behaviorist philosophy of education in which the teacher feeds knowledge to a dependant learner and then the
learner is expected to reproduce the knowledge in some clearly observable behavioral outcome (Ramirez, 1996;
Elias Merriam, 1995). To realistically educate all personnel in the organization and make the transition, the
educational philosophy of the department should be compatible with the community policing approach.
Educational philosophies can be viewed along a continuum. Philosophical positions fall along this continuum
depending on how one views the importance of the individual and society and the involvement of the learner in
the education process.

Encomienda Or Slavery Timothy Yeager Summary
Encomienda or Slavery? by Timothy J. Yeager. I will analyze the author s thesis, the reasons why the
encomienda system was a better choice for the Crown, and I will disagree with Yeager s viewpoint that it is not
a curious option for the Crown to choose over the alternative of enslavement. Encomienda was a system in
which the Spaniards took over land, forced the natives to work for them and in return the encomenderos
provided the native Indians with protection. I will also agree with the author s views of the Crown confiscating
property from the encomenderos. In Timothy J. Yeager s article, he discusses why the Crown decided to
implement a governmental structure of the encomienda rather than have the natives become their slaves. The
encomienda would provide slightly more freedom to the natives, meaning they could ... Show more content on

However, they would be condemned to forced labor while living on the Spaniards conquered lands, or
encomienda s. When the conquistadors came and took the land they were bound by the Crown to collect taxes
in the form of resources. After conquering the land, a majority of the conquistadors became the encomenderos
of that same land. Although the Crown did not want to enslave the natives they still needed a system of forced
labor so they chose encomienda, in return they provided protection to the natives of the land they took over. The
Crown considered this a fair exchange yet they required the natives to work and practice the catholic religion
while under the protection of the encomenderos. The author speaks about the process of the decisions the
Crown needed to make to gain a stronghold hold of each region and in doing so, the crown came up with a three
tier system to not allow any encomendero to gain too much wealth and power. These restrictions were called
inheritance, trading, and relocation. Inheritance restrictions did not allow land to be passed down to the

The Importance Of Short Film
Everyone knows what films are. Film had been part of human s life for very long time. Every year many film
festivals are held to celebrate and honor those pieces of artworks and their producer. However, a type of film,
short film, often get neglected from viewers to get credit. Despite the neglection, short film is one of the perfect
way to give short but strong impression about on issue that producer wants to talk about. I wanted to talk about
how young second generation Asian females feels like when living in United States trying to adjust in both

about her identify. Film in general can be good source to address current issue in easily approachable way.
Because it is screen as a video, even those who are not educated enough to read may understand the purpose of

College Should Offer Free Tuition
Having a college degree is considered to a vital part of being successful in today s day and age. College degrees
are really expensive, but in a long run they really pay off. College can be a big financial burden so with that
being said, in my opinion, I think community college should offer free tuition with some sort of standards to be
eligible for free tuition. President Barack Obama conveyed a speech at Macomb Community College in Warren,
Michigan this past September. President Obama proposed a free educational cost at any two year junior college
at length of their stay as long as they were at least half time students, and they keep up a base evaluation point
normal of no less than 2.5 and the administration would cover seventy five percent of the costs to the state
getting the remaining total as stated by Silvia Munguia. CQ researcher Silvia Munguia, states that Although
some people may disapprove of the proposal, arguing that the country would lose a lot of money and that
offering free community colleges would not necessarily improve our educational system nor guarantee students
graduation from college, it is definitely a great starting point. I agree with this because at the end of the day, you
have to start somewhere. Munguia also states There are many benefits of making the first two years of college
free. If Obama s proposal passes more people will be able to attend college and be better prepared upon
entering the job market. Free community colleges

Mental Health And Substance Abuse Disorders
Introduction
Policy makers and researchers have paid attention to behavioral health problems due to significant burden of
morbidity and disability, as well as health care cost. The term behavioral health refers to a state of mental or
emotional being and choices and actions that affect wellness. It encompasses both mental health and substance
use, including such as depression, substance abuse or misuse, serious psychological distress, and suicide
(Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2011). In 2012, an estimated 16 million adults
aged 18 or older in the U.S. had at least one major depressive episode in the past year. This represented 6.9
percent of all U.S. adults (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2013). People with
mental and substance abuse disorders may find difficulties to maintain interpersonal relations, find and sustain
employment, and care for themselves and family members because behavioral health problem may affect
individual s ability to function in daily life. Although mental health problems are both common and important
in general population, they are especially common in women than men (Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Services Administration, 2013), and in particular in individuals who are socially disadvantaged (Heflin Iceland,
2009).
Although a variety of factors are related to psychological wellbeing among low income women, decades of
research find poverty to be a correlate of behavioral health problem

How Omnipotence Is Defined As All Powerful
Omnipotence is defined as all powerful, when sober talks about God he usually brings up the fact that if there is
a god most people argue that he would have to be an all PKG god or an all powerful, all knowing, and all good.
Sober stated that Sometimes it is said that the first premise(If God were to exist, then that being would be all
powerful, all knowing, and all good or all PKG for short) is a definition of what we mean by the concept of god
(Sober pg.120). Our typical concept of god is that god is above us in every way, god created us and everything
around us so they must be an all PKG god. If they aren t an all PKG god then at least they could be omnipotent
and if they aren t omnipotent then what is the point of looking up to them and worshipping them. If god exists
and they aren t omnipotent, or omnibenevolent, or omniscient then what makes them better than us. If god isn t
all PKG then what makes them a god at all. God is typically known everywhere even by people who don t
believe in them as a supreme being, so if god isn t at least omnipotent then god would no longer be considered a
god. So the best way to understand the concept of omnipotence is this Omni means all or all of and potency
means the power of something, so together Omnipotence is all powerful.
Evil is typically defined as unnecessary suffering. Sober says, usually is separated into two categories, there is
evil that exists because of human actions, usually suffering that is inflicted on things

Finding Deep Meaning Of Film
Finding Deep Meaning in Film As was demonstrated in my analysis of Uys (1980) film, the techniques used for
biblical interpretation may be used not merely for biblical interpretation or as a means to read literature as an
example of the modern parable. These techniques may also be used to the interpretation of film as a medium of
communication. Rosenberg, Lucchesi, Boardman, Vinson, Flynn, and Derrickson s (2005), The exorcism of
Emily Rose, provides a wonderful platform for examining these techniques as it is fraught with meaning,

There are many theological themes that flow from the basic narrative if one takes time to consider them.
Beyond the question of the cause of Emily s death, one finds themes that relate to faith and rational thought, the
existence of God and demons, the relationship between faith and science, suffering and faith, compassion and
pain, and submission to a higher authority. While I will not take the time to delve into each one of these themes
independently, I will select a few that are the most critical to this author. The first theme that becomes apparent
is an overt attack on religion. Early on in the film, we find a group of lawyers talking about who will prosecute
the case. It is stated that, We need a Christian on this, preferably a Catholic. Someone who knows this stuff
inside and out, and who the public will see as unbiased. We re going after a holy man here (Rosenberg et al,
2005). It was not merely about identifying a prosecutor who was capable, but one who took attack the faith and
discredit the exorcism rite. The courtroom attacks on Father Moore continue in this vain claiming that his views
were based upon, archaic and irrational superstition (Rosenberg et al, 2005). The Christian faith is depicted as
the product of fiction; because it cannot be rationalized. A second theme that flows from the film is the question
of the existence of God and demons. Peter Chattaway (n.d.),

Ethnocentrism In Prejudging Places
Put on your thinking caps and think of the last time you pre judged someone based upon culture? I think it is
safe to assume everyone has experienced first hand the act of prejudging culture. Culture comes in many shapes
and forms, such as ways of dressing, dating, or eating, as we learned about on January 3, 2017 lecture.
Ultimately, judging someone in view of their culture, or way of living, before getting to know them is called
ethnocentrism (page 37 in Communicate!). We discover ethnocentrism in a multitude of different places, for
example in the market, workplace, school, or restaurants (page 191 in Communicate!). Many people are guilty
of making these judgements of culture each day. These predicaments of culture can be made by public ... Show

Why does ethnocentrism exist? Well, I firmly believe it exists because of our lack of respect, knowledge, and
consideration for others. My impression perceives to be that the world we live in is too fast paced. Everything
we do is by a touch of a button! We do not take the time to gain knowledge of other people s way of living,
therefore we create automatic assumptions of others as if at a push of a button, see the connection? Assumptions
can happen as fast as a millisecond, because of looks, dress, or makeup. Therefore, I read an article the other
day about ethnocentrism in the hospital. If you have never been a patient at a hospital, let me tell you the basics.
When admitted to a hospital and the procedure will require an overnight stay, the patient would be assigned a
room for the night, as well as a bed to sleep on. The patient, usually, would not be allowed to stand, or walk
during their stay (for precautionary reasons). That being said, to receive the attention of a nursing assistant or a
nurse, the patient is required to press a hand held red button in order to obtain assistance to go for a walk, go to
the bathroom, etc. This article that I came across told the story of a nurse, a patient, significant other, and a
nursing assistant. In the

Hydrogen Isotopes And Radioactive Isotopes
Distinguish between stable and radioactive isotopes and describe the conditions under which a nucleus is
unstable.
An isotope refers to elements that have different mass numbers with the same number of protons and similar
chemical and physical properties but a greater number of neutrons for example carbon has 3 isotopes including
carbon ((_6^12)C), carbon 13 ((_6^13)C) and carbon 14 ((_6^14)C).
The difference between stable and radioactive isotopes lies in their ability to emit radiation. That is stable
isotopes are unable to emit radiation whereas radioactive isotopes are capable of emitting radiation such as
Alpha particles α (helium nucleus), Beta β particles (fast moving electron) and gamma γ particles (high energy
electromagnetic rays). An Isotopes stability is dependent on it neutron to proton ratio for example elements are
generally stable if in the lighter elements (those with atomic numbers less than 20) for example lithium, the
neutron to proton ratio is 1:1 and in heavier elements (those with atomic numbers from 79 83) are stable if the
ratio is 1.5:1. Also any element with an atomic number greater than 83 is naturally radioactive as they are
composed of an unstable nucleus for example promethium ((_61^145)Pm). An element may also be classified
as unstable/radioactive if:
It has too many protons and neutron:
This results in the nucleus becoming too heavy and releasing alpha particles for example: cadmium releases
alpha particles and becomes palladium

Project: Making of Eco friendly Flowers through Recycling of Disposable Plastic Cups
Essay
In line with the current trends of climate change, there is great need to protect the environment we live in. Some
of the actions we take towards environmental protection may have a plan to safeguard the environment whereas
others might do so automatically even if our intentions were to achieve something else. What does this mean?
The answer is simple; some of the projects we embark on follow the concept of Collins and Scott, where nature
participates in its evolution without our direct intervention. In my project, I intend to make decorative flowers
from disposable plastic cups, which I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my project, I intend to make several flowers of different shapes and sizes from the plastic cups with the aim
of taking them to the market for sale. The task will be very easy considering that the labor will be cheap and the
equipments needed for successful execution will just be ordinary tools found around our houses. The jobless,
younger generation will form part of my working team and together, I believe we will be able to collect huge
piles of plastic cups from household solid wastes and make a considerable number of decorative flowers for
sale. While carrying out the project, I look forward to liaise with other concerned individuals, groups, or
organizations that will facilitate its growth and ensure that any good objective, planned or unplanned for the
project, is attainable at the end of the day. For example, I will expect to work with environmental movements
and groups that will ensure segregation of the plastics takes place from other wastes and availed accordingly at
my working station. According to Rich (120), waste segregation is an important element of waste management
and the management of plastic wastes is a very difficult process considering the fact that plastics do not
decompose like the biodegradable wastes. In addition, I will anticipate working with persons from other fields
such as entrepreneurs, marketers, and so forth. Collaborating with

The Consequences Of Civil Disobedience
The meaning of civil disobedience has been disoriented throughout the years. Unfortunately, civil disobedience
is often confused with simply violating laws that you do not like (docsoffredom.org). On the other hand, true
civil disobedience lies in violating inequitable laws, but accepting the consequences that come with it. Peaceful
resistance can positively impact a free society and bring about reform people desire, but only in the form of true
civil disobedience. For example, the Civil Rights Movement won desegregation for many African Americans.
Furthermore, Mahatma Gandhi and his non violent acts of civil disobedience helped to ensure India s
independence from Britain. Also, protests of the Dakota Access pipeline has led the Army ... Show more

This can be seen in the Civil Rights Movement, which desegregated the United States for many African
Americans. Moreover, another defining example of this is seen in the many non violent protests of Mahatma
Gandhi, which aided India in gaining independence. Finally, a modern example of true civil disobedience are
the protests against the Dakota pipeline, which had a small taste of victory until President Donald Trump
authorized the pipeline to continue. All of these examples are evidence of how true civil disobedience can
impact not just one society, but the entire world, and how it will continue to do so for generations to

Antitrust And Legal Of A Business Context
Evaluate Antitrust and Legal Rights in a Business Context Over the year s organizations from, all parts of the
world have experienced growth in the areas of business. Much of this growth is in part due to multinational
companies, many of them enjoying significant benefits. One such area is investment, however it creates benefits
for foreign MNCs, and it brings about concern. Perhaps the greatest fear. Fear concerning state owned
corporations and the lack of effectiveness of legislation / regulatory enforcement. One reason for the concern is
the current doctrine of immunity, why this is of concern. In the world of international investment, regulations

This were due to a requirement that forced the host organization to request permission to enter into a legal
proceeding as well they all enjoyed the benefit of full immunity making it risky to conduct business outside the
boundaries of the home state. For many years, organizations and states have continued to seek resolutions to the
continued on stableness of international investments. However, in 2004 the United Nations General Assembly
facilitated a long awaited agreement that would help bring about a stable environment concerning multinational
corporations and their foreign investments however the agreement hinged upon the acceptance of no less than
30 states or nations. In 1952, the US Department of State introduced one of the most important developments as
it relates to international practices and policy with providing guidance for dealing with international
organizations. However, in retrospect 1976, brought about a similar adoption called the foreign sovereign
immunities act (us FSIA) (Alfred Dunhill of London v. Republic of Cuba, 1976). However, this was perhaps the
first legislation enacted to assist with making decisions as to the determination of situations of immunity. After
the legislation of 1976, was enacted other organizations around the world began to identify that there was

Danny Archer s Blood Diamond
In the beginning of Blood Diamond, the protagonist, Danny Archer, a white South African diamond smuggler,
is a man who cares only for himself. This personality trait makes sense because he has unfortunately been alone
for the majority of his life. His mother and father were both violently killed when Danny was just nine years
old. From then on, he had to learn how to survive on his own, without anyone to support him, and with that he
developed selfish characteristics. When he was a young adult, he fought in the war, which did not help with his
selfishness. This most likely made it worse because hypothetically people that he got close to were killed in
battle. As an adult he lives a life smuggling diamonds to make money for himself, even though ... Show more

it is his first time understanding this because he never had a family for himself. Danny s objective shifts little by

their mission to find the diamond, Danny watches Solomon risk his life everyday just to see his son, and risk his

How To Build An Autocracy
Growing up in a community where the education succeeds, and learning is rich, it is easy to see why America as
a whole is ignorant to facts and education that is essential to fill our civil duties of voting. The underlying facts
of what s to come is hidden because of rhetoric and lying to the public, and the public is blind to these facts
because of their lack of education. In America, the lack of quality education and knowledge of extremely
important information will lead to the destruction of our country and to our civic society.
Ever since 1960 the culture of American Education has gone down significantly. In efforts to make things easier
for readers, authors are trying to trim their materials so it is basically easier for the reader to ... Show more

In the article Ignorance Does not Lead to Education Bliss, published in The Atlantic, written by Jonathan R.
Cole states,
When this kind of ignorance reaches the level of presidential aspirants, it must give Americans pause. Where
does the ignorance originate? Why has it become so pervasive in the United States today? Can the U.S. have
meaningful elections if its citizens have a paucity of civic knowledge and history that might allow them to make
informed decisions? A significant part of the answer lies, I believe, in the failures of the American education
system .
What Cole is arguing is that why should we in the United States hold elections if we seriously have no idea
what we are talking about. We are making decisions without ever really knowing what we are talking about or
what people are even saying. We have a paucity of knowledge for the important things that we need to know
like civic knowledge and the history of our country and of the world, which are essential topics. Our education
system is failing us, and if we don t fix it, our country will continue to fall, until we are at a point where we can
t come back from it anymore. Education is something that needs to urgently so that our country can come back

  • 2. Mononucleosis Symptoms and Treatment First seen in 1889, Mononucleosis was originally named the Drüsenfieber, or having a glandular fever. They converted to the name we now know of mononucleosis in 1920 when they saw an increasing the number of lymphocytes that were seen in the blood of a group of college students who showed signs such as fevers and other distinct symptoms of this virus. Mononucleosis was nicknamed mono , is an infectious agent caused by the Epstein Barr virus (EBV). This infection is very common especially amongst the adolescents; another name that this virus is labeled under is the kissing disease . EBV is scientifically classified to be a member of the herpes family of viruses. An antibody that fights EBV can be detected in the blood streem of most people by the time arrive at adult age. When this infection happens during childhood, the virus almost absolutely yields no symptoms. only about 10% of those children that become infected with EBV is estimated to develop the illness. In the same inference it is assumed that due to the developed immunity, most adults probably will not developed the illness. In the U.S., there are up to 95% of adults ages 35 40 years that have antibodies directed against the EBV. Unfortunately this is a clear indicator that most people have been infected with EBV at sometime in their lives. This explain why some people are against their babies being kissed and makes you wonder is the one that are open to just anyone kissing their children have this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Common Complication Following Surgical Procedures Infections are the most common complication following surgical procedures and are associated with significant morbidity, mortality and increased cost in health care (Anderson, 2014). As a nurse working in a surgical capacity this is a concern for the patients. Working for a general surgeon, surgical site infections are not commonly seen in the office, however, it remains one of the top concerns for the well being of patients. Many evidence based studies are aimed at nurses who provide care for patients in the pre, peri, and post operative periods. Perioperative nurses prepare the skin for surgery to remove soil and microorganisms at the point of incision (Cowperthwaite Holm, 2015). Surgical site infections are easy to reduce given the proper guidelines for prevention. This includes skin antisepsis, and surgical hand hygiene and technique. A National Patient Safety Goal set up by the Joint Commission is to prevent surgical site infections (The Joint Commission, 2015). One of the ways this is done is through reducing bacteria at the surgical site. Skin is not sterile, but reducing the number of bacteria on the skin may help reduce surgical site infections. (Cowperthwaite Holm, 2015) The circulating nurse, along with other key personnel, plays a key role in preventing surgical site infections. The reason why I chose it was because I have been interested in serving others in a right way. The selection of Hadewijch Give all for all helped me understand what God expects me to do for others. However, Richard Foster mentions at the end of the selection that it was not easy to admit the truth that the author discussed. On my first time of reading, I also had similar feeling like this. It s because my acts of service for others seem no longer commendable in the sight of God according to his writing. As I read it over and over to fully understand its meaning, I realized that my services that I have done for others may be not satisfying or pleasing God. The 1950 s were in fact the turning point of change. `The Mattachine Foundation , later re named `The Mattachine Society , was one of the earliest gay organisations set up by Harry Hay in 1950. It s aim was to raise consciousness among gay men, challenge anti gay discrimination and build a positive homosexual community and culture. This proved nothing less than an arduous struggle with much opposition, illustrated by the infamous `Stonewall night. A night that set America alight with gay rights and conflicts. The name `Mattachine was meant to symbolise that fact that gays were a masked people, unknown and anonymous. This illustrates the traditional 1950 s attitude towards homosexuality; the problem was thought to cease to exist if ignored. Homosexuals were un natural, sacrilegious, and in need of control and subjugation. These movements, although insurgent, had little impact upon attitudes, particularly in the literary world. The most common explanation for credit card debt for people under the age of 25. Demographic and credit trends show that young people, and in particular students, may be the next segment of credit users that will face difficult financial times. In the United States, there are 19.1 million students who are attending colleges and universities (US Department of Education 2009). They account for approximately 6% of a population of 308 million people (US Census Bureau 2011). On average, students possess 4.6 credit cards (SallieMae 2009). They also owe more on their credit cards than they did just a few years ago; in 2004, students owed, on average, $2,900 on credit cards whereas in 2009 this figure soared by 78% to $4,100 (SallieMae 2009). Moreover, young consumers account for the second largest rate of bankruptcy in the United States (Sullivan, Thorne, and Warren 2001). In the military model, police react to events in the community (Thayer Reynolds, 1997). Community problems filter up the chain of command and solutions filter their way back down. Law enforcement s transition away from a militaristic tradition that presented an us vs. them relationship with the community will be a difficult process. A shift in educational philosophy will be required to make this transition. To effectively train today s law enforcement officers there must be a move away from the Behaviorist philosophy of education in which the teacher feeds knowledge to a dependant learner and then the learner is expected to reproduce the knowledge in some clearly observable behavioral outcome (Ramirez, 1996; Elias Merriam, 1995). To realistically educate all personnel in the organization and make the transition, the educational philosophy of the department should be compatible with the community policing approach. I will analyze the author s thesis, the reasons why the encomienda system was a better choice for the Crown, and I will disagree with Yeager s viewpoint that it is not a curious option for the Crown to choose over the alternative of enslavement. Encomienda was a system in which the Spaniards took over land, forced the natives to work for them and in return the encomenderos provided the native Indians with protection. I will also agree with the author s views of the Crown confiscating property from the encomenderos. In Timothy J. Although the Crown did not want to enslave the natives they still needed a system of forced labor so they chose encomienda, in return they provided protection to the natives of the land they took over. The Crown considered this a fair exchange yet they required the natives to work and practice the catholic religion while under the protection of the encomenderos. The author speaks about the process of the decisions the Crown needed to make to gain a stronghold hold of each region and in doing so, the crown came up with a three tier system to not allow any encomendero to gain too much wealth and power. College degrees are really expensive, but in a long run they really pay off. College can be a big financial burden so with that being said, in my opinion, I think community college should offer free tuition with some sort of standards to be eligible for free tuition. President Barack Obama conveyed a speech at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan this past September. President Obama proposed a free educational cost at any two year junior college at length of their stay as long as they were at least half time students, and they keep up a base evaluation point normal of no less than 2.5 and the administration would cover seventy five percent of the costs to the state getting the remaining total as stated by Silvia Munguia. How Omnipotence Is Defined As All Powerful Omnipotence is defined as all powerful, when sober talks about God he usually brings up the fact that if there is a god most people argue that he would have to be an all PKG god or an all powerful, all knowing, and all good. Sober stated that Sometimes it is said that the first premise(If God were to exist, then that being would be all powerful, all knowing, and all good or all PKG for short) is a definition of what we mean by the concept of god (Sober pg.120). Our typical concept of god is that god is above us in every way, god created us and everything around us so they must be an all PKG god. If they aren t an all PKG god then at least they could be omnipotent and if they aren t omnipotent then what is the point of looking up to them and worshipping them. If god exists and they aren t omnipotent, or omnibenevolent, or omniscient then what makes them better than us. If god isn t all PKG then what makes them a god at all. God is typically known everywhere even by people who don t believe in them as a supreme being, so if god isn t at least omnipotent then god would no longer be considered a god. So the best way to understand the concept of omnipotence is this Omni means all or all of and potency means the power of something, so together Omnipotence is all powerful. While I will not take the time to delve into each one of these themes independently, I will select a few that are the most critical to this author. The first theme that becomes apparent is an overt attack on religion. Early on in the film, we find a group of lawyers talking about who will prosecute the case. It is stated that, We need a Christian on this, preferably a Catholic. Someone who knows this stuff inside and out, and who the public will see as unbiased. An Isotopes stability is dependent on it neutron to proton ratio for example elements are generally stable if in the lighter elements (those with atomic numbers less than 20) for example lithium, the neutron to proton ratio is 1:1 and in heavier elements (those with atomic numbers from 79 83) are stable if the ratio is 1.5:1. Also any element with an atomic number greater than 83 is naturally radioactive as they are composed of an unstable nucleus for example promethium ((_61^145)Pm). An element may also be classified as unstable/radioactive if: It has too many protons and neutron: This results in the nucleus becoming too heavy and releasing alpha particles for example: cadmium releases alpha particles and becomes palladium ... J Nae Wong Professor Finck English 1102 A12 March 10, 2017 Project: Making of Eco friendly Flowers through Recycling of Disposable Plastic Cups Essay In line with the current trends of climate change, there is great need to protect the environment we live in. Some of the actions we take towards environmental protection may have a plan to safeguard the environment whereas others might do so automatically even if our intentions were to achieve something else. For example, I will expect to work with environmental movements and groups that will ensure segregation of the plastics takes place from other wastes and availed accordingly at my working station. According to Rich (120), waste segregation is an important element of waste management and the management of plastic wastes is a very difficult process considering the fact that plastics do not decompose like the biodegradable wastes. In addition, I will anticipate working with persons from other fields such as entrepreneurs, marketers, and so forth. Collaborating with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Consequences Of Civil Disobedience The meaning of civil disobedience has been disoriented throughout the years. Unfortunately, civil disobedience is often confused with simply violating laws that you do not like (docsoffredom.org). On the other hand, true civil disobedience lies in violating inequitable laws, but accepting the consequences that come with it. Peaceful resistance can positively impact a free society and bring about reform people desire, but only in the form of true civil disobedience. For example, the Civil Rights Movement won desegregation for many African Americans. Furthermore, Mahatma Gandhi and his non violent acts of civil disobedience helped to ensure India s independence from Britain. Also, protests of the Dakota Access pipeline has led the Army ... In 1952, the US Department of State introduced one of the most important developments as it relates to international practices and policy with providing guidance for dealing with international organizations. However, in retrospect 1976, brought about a similar adoption called the foreign sovereign immunities act (us FSIA) (Alfred Dunhill of London v. Republic of Cuba, 1976). This personality trait makes sense because he has unfortunately been alone for the majority of his life. His mother and father were both violently killed when Danny was just nine years old. From then on, he had to learn how to survive on his own, without anyone to support him, and with that he developed selfish characteristics. When he was a young adult, he fought in the war, which did not help with his selfishness. This most likely made it worse because hypothetically people that he got close to were killed in battle. The underlying facts of what s to come is hidden because of rhetoric and lying to the public, and the public is blind to these facts because of their lack of education. In America, the lack of quality education and knowledge of extremely important information will lead to the destruction of our country and to our civic society. In the article Ignorance Does not Lead to Education Bliss, published in The Atlantic, written by Jonathan R. Cole states, When this kind of ignorance reaches the level of presidential aspirants, it must give Americans pause. Where does the ignorance originate? Why has it become so pervasive in the United States today? Can the U.S. have meaningful elections if its citizens have a paucity of civic knowledge and history that might allow them to make informed decisions? A significant part of the answer lies, I believe, in the failures of the American education system . What Cole is arguing is that why should we in the United States hold elections if we seriously have no idea what we are talking about. We are making decisions without ever really knowing what we are talking about or what people are even saying. We have a paucity of knowledge for the important things that we need to know like civic knowledge and the history of our country and of the world, which are essential topics. Our education system is failing us, and if we don t fix it, our country will continue to fall, until we are at a point where we can t come back from it anymore.
