2. How did you use new media
technologies in the
construction and research,
planning and evaluation?
3. Whilst creating my main product, I used familiar websites that I had been introduced last year
in AS. When creating my Thriller video and Music video, I used certain websites such as Blogger
and Final Cut express. Blogger is the main media technology that I have been using in Media
Studies for the past two years. Blogger is a sort of journal which allows me to put any sort of
information on it, as this is for my Media course I have to post about what sort of things I get
up to daily or weekly inside and outside of class, so the examiner and teacher may analyse
what I have been doing.
These are other types of technologies that have come across to me whilst researching and
planning my music product and ancillary task:

4. Final Cut Express
• Final Cut Express has been an important technology . We used Final cut express last year for
editing my Thriller sequence. Over the last year final cut express has taught me how to develop
more skills. Such as good editing skills. This has also taught me how to follow instructions
carefully and properly especially when it came to transferring videos from Final cut express onto
Youtube. As a group we learnt a lot of different things that may have not occurred to us last year.
We learnt how to use different types of transitions, we also learnt that the black dots were used
for fading in and out. One thing that I had to remember was once I used the cut symbol I had to
make sure that I always went back the the point symbol incase I erase all my shots which would
have been a dilemma.
5. IMAC
• To make this PowerPoint I used an Imac!
• An Imac is a brand by Apple and is very popular, I first got introduced to using an Imac in AS, I
was so excited because I’ve never used one before
• An Imac is just like an ordinary computer but I struggled because of the way the apps were
displayed, as you would not usually edit and cut footage on an ordinary computer it was
quite hard to edit on an Imac and I started in AS, I got used to using an Imac in A2, I used
more of an Imac than my laptop at home
• Everything that I did in this course I used an Imac, going on different apps such as Photoshop
and final Cut Express. I loved using an Imac, I am going to miss it but at least I used one
6. HD Camera
• The HD camera is what we used to film our music video. The HD camera is an upgrade from
last year, last year we used a DV camera. The HD camera was the main technology that we
used this year. As this was a new camera, I personally found it hard to use. I preferred the
camera we used lat year. This year it took me time to learn how to use it as one of my roles
was to record the footage so I had to learn fast. After practicing using the camera I felt more
comfortable. Every time we recorded footage, as a group we would watch it back on the
camera, the sound was not loud enough but we managed. At times we would be
embarrassed to hear our voices or see us doing something silly on camera. After watching
footage we then would connect the camera into an Imac and rewind it to the beginning of
the footage that we wanted and then capture it. Using this camera was a good, hard and fun
experience to use.
