2. Over the course of this media year my media skills were
not terribly good, in the sense that I was not good with
computers. As I did Media last year I was not totally
clueless, however I still did not think I had enough skills
to get me the highest grades possible and so hoped that I
could build on these to ensure I achieved the best grades
that I could. Last year I contributed to a lot towards
ideas and took on the writer/ director role, but this year I
understood that it would be different because instead of
creating a movie u would be creating a music video.
3. In terms of the music part of the project I thought I
would be satisfactory. This is because I only occasionally
listen to music which may be seen as negative when
having to complete this assignment. However, I thought
I could bring a unique innovative ideas compared to
someone who would already be influenced by the
particular genre as I would be unbiased in my opinions.
4. Over the course of the project I have progressed a lot in
both of the areas. I now find myself listening to more
music and watching more music videos and I believe my
computer skills have become more advanced in the
sense that I can operate a number of different software’s
with ease. This is due to the help and advice I have
received from my group members and from my teachers.
5. IMOVIE
This was probably the software that I struggled with the
most. Last year in my first year of A Levels I used
IMOVIE but only to a limited extent. This year however
we split the group members, we all had ¼ to do each.
This put a bit of pressure on me as I knew this was a step
up from year 12. However, I found that once I started
editing I got the hang of it quite quickly and soon started
to enjoy it. I learnt a lot of nifty tricks with the software.
For example; zooming into a specific clip and rhythmic
editing which was a key element of our music video.
6. PREZI
Last year I used Prezi quite a lot for my personal work;
my blog. Last year, I struggled with the software as U
found it difficult to work on it. However, this year they
have made significant improvements which have made
the software easier to use.
7. BLOGGER
Last year, I used Blogger to upload my work onto and so
this year I did not struggle when using it at all. However,
to ensure that my work was grammatically correct I
typed the text onto Microsoft Word first and then copied
and pasted it onto Blogspot.
8. CANON CAMERA
I found that the Canon Camera at first was a difficult
piece of technology to work with. We knew this when we
chose it to work with but we decided to use it for our
project as the camera quality is very good and much
better than the average camera. A big problem that we
encountered when using it was they kept stopping. This
meant that even though we had our performance
recorded we had to swap to the camcorder to record the
fight scenes. I think this affected the final video as we
know that this had caused the quality of our video to be
effected negatively. Due to the inconsistent quality,
mistakes could be hidden more easily.
9. POWERPOINT/ SLIDE SHARE
PowerPoint has been a software that I have used for a
very long time. It wasn’t hard to use for me and so I was
comfortable using it and I found that converting it to
SlideShare and uploading it to my blog was also rarely
simple.
10. FINISH
Overall, I feel that my media skills have been improved
quite a lot I am confident using a lot of the software’s we
have used throughout the project and I do not think I
will have any difficulties using these later on in life.
