Hypodermic Needle
• Definition - The hypodermic needle model (known as
the hypodermic-syringe model, transmission-belt model, or
magic bullet theory) is a model of communication suggesting
that an intended message is directly received and wholly
accepted by the receiver.
• Example - The classic example of the application of the Magic
Bullet Theory was illustrated on October 30, 1938 when Orson
Welles and the newly formed Mercury Theatre group
broadcasted their radio edition of H.G. Wells' "War of the
Worlds." On the eve of Halloween, radio programming was
interrupted with a "news bulletin" for the first time. What the
audience heard was that Martians had begun an invasion of
Earth in a place called Grover's Mill, New Jersey.
Uses and Gratifications Information
I use these websites to find out different
information about stuff. For example I use
the Premier League website to find out
scores from matches that I am interested
in and I couldn’t watch it. Then I use BBC
News to see what is going on in the UK.
Finally I use Accuwather to see what the
weather is going to be like, if its going to
rain.
Uses and Gratifications Personal
Identity
I use these websites/apps for files.
I use the Gmail to send files and
other different stuff to people and
also to get different information,
such as like getting notified
through Gmail about youtubers
uploading videos. I use the
OneDrive to keep my files safe.
Uses and Gratifications Integration
and Social Interaction
People use social media to share their
life and also to find out information
about others and things happening.
Uses and Gratifications Entertainment
People use these systems/platforms to
entertain themselves and chill out and
also to enjoy their spare time with their
friends on their favourite game.
