There are three types of management theories: historical, classical, and modern. The classical theories include scientific management theory, developed by Frederick Taylor to decrease waste and increase production efficiency. It introduced differential piece rate wages. Administrative management theory focuses on standardizing processes and dividing organizations into hierarchies under Max Weber's bureaucratic theory of management. Henri Fayol's administrative theory formalized administrative structure and clear divisions of labor according to responsibilities.

 Frederick Taylor developed scientific

 The goal of this theory was to decrease
waste, increase the process and methods of

8.  Taylor felt that workers should get a fair
day’s work and that pay should be linked to
the amount produced
 He also introduced the Differential Piece rate
system of paying wages to the workers

9.  Max Weber was the first to use and describe
the term bureaucracy which is known as
bureaucratic theory of management
 Bureaucracy is an organizational structure
that is characterized by standardized
process, clear hierarchies and careful
division of labor
 So, Weber focused on dividing organizations
into hierarchies, establishing strong lines of
authority and believed that it is better than
any traditional structure

10.  Weber suggested that organizations should
develop comprehensive and detailed
Standard Operating Procedures SOP for all
routinized tasks

11.  This theory is also called Fayolism, it was
developed by French management theorist
Henri Fayol
 This theory formalized administrative
structure, a clear division of labor and
delegation of power and authority to
administrators relevant to their areas of
responsibilites

12.  It focuses on improving the efficiency of
management first so that the process can be
standardized and then moves to the
operational level
 Fayol also developed 14 principles of
management to help managers manage their
affairs more effectively
