This document discusses the water-nutrition productivity gap in Ethiopia. It makes three key points: 1) Ethiopia has made gains in food supply but productivity remains low, perpetuating poverty and risk. Low yields mean little surplus for nutrition or income. 2) Closing the productivity gap requires coordinating water, fertilizers, seeds and land management - not just increasing water supply. Small amounts of supplementary water can boost yields and reduce risk. 3) Improved nutrition depends on increasing production of nutrient-dense foods, access to those foods, and access to clean water for adequate absorption of nutrients. Coordination is needed across production, access, and absorption to make progress on nutrition.
