Medicine And Medicine In The Elizabethan Era
Medicine and Shakespeare The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic, or hospital.
(Mark Hyman). In the Elizabethan Era, most of society was poverty stricken, which drove communities to improvise to
help the sick as real doctors and physicians were too expensive. Barbers and wise women rose to the occasion of helping
the sick, although they did not have much medical knowledge. Medical knowledge was also lacked in professional doctors
and physicians as their knowledge revolved around their religion, leaving the sick in the mercy of misconceptions. During
the 16th century, society suffered from lack of medical knowledge and ignorance to the benefit of sanitation, resulting in
misconceptions of faulty doctors that brought expansion of diseases and death. Society was deprived of the proper
sanitation that would of helped prevent most diseases that killed many. The daily routines of commoners contributed to the
extension of diseases as those routines were not very hygienic. For example, people emptied their bodily waste into
cesspits, which served as a breeding grounds for fatal diseases (Catcher); people rarely changed their clothes as they
usually only had an outfit for each season; and peasants had to use dried leaves as toilet paper. During their menstrual
cycle, women had to use tampons and pads made up of old rags and cloths wrapped around naturally absorbent moss
(Catcher), which can lead to infections in the genitals as the

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is the causative operator of cervical disease, which is a standout amongst the most
unmistakable tumors in ladies. HPV is a sexually transmitted malady that can influence both men and ladies. The
immunizer discovery systems uncovered that the greater part of the ladies (those that are sexually dynamic) worldwide
and roughly 70% of the sexually dynamic ladies of US populace have been presented to the papilloma infection sooner or
later in time. The African area is having the most astounding rate of commonness with an expected number of 379153

Imagine Dragons Hyperbole
In the song On Top Of The World by Imagine Dragons, they are singing about how you shouldn t give up no matter what
the circumstances. The artists are saying that you shouldn t let anyone or anything stand in your way of success. The
theme of relationships is shown by examples of hyperboles and personification. The theme of never giving up is shown
with hyperboles and personification. Starting off with Cause I m on top of the world . Cause I m on top of the world would
be a hyperbole because you can t actually be on top of the world. What Imagine Dragons are trying to say is that if you
keep pushing to reach your goal and eventually achieve it. Once you achieve that goal you might feel like you are on top
of the world. Secondly, Life

Bessie Smith Biography
On October 29, 1929, later to be known as the notorious Black Tuesday, the stock market crashed, and the United States
was thrust into the Great Depression. Companies became bankrupt one after another, resulting in more and more
Americans being laid off. Soon, it became a common sight to see large crowds of homeless people waiting outside of soup
kitchens and bread lines, no matter what city or town you were in. It was during this dark period of despair and misery that
Bessie Smith, the Empress of the Blues, recorded one of her most well known and loved songs, Nobody Knows You When
You re Down and Out. Bessie Smith s song reflected the hearts and minds of millions of Americans during that somber
period. Smith sings Nobody knows you/ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their success allowed them to spend money freely on things like bootleg whiskey, champagne and wine. Sadly, this did
not last long for either person for once again they were back at the bottom, wishing that they were back at the top.
With the peoples changing taste in music and Smith s alcoholic tendencies, it seemed unlikely that her career would ever
pick back up, but near the end of the 1930s, her career was on the rise with her recording and performing again.
Unfortunately, Smith did not get to enjoy her comeback. On September 26, 1937, she was killed in a car accident. She hit
her old Packard with a parked truck near Coahoma, Mississippi, between Clarksdale and Memphis and injured herself so
severely that one of her arms was nearly severed off her body. Since there was no record of her exact birth date, it was
estimated that she was about 43 years old when she died (History.com Staff Blues

Literature Review On Urbanization In Dhaka
Literature Review
The paper by (Bird, 2013) first sets out the theory of expenditure assignment with respect to decentralizing infrastructure
expenditure, and then considers how practice around the developing world appears to differ from what that theory appears
to suggest. The paper suggests several ways in which theory and practice might be brought closer together. distinguish
four categories in terms of the functions served by such investment: (1) Redistribution (housing, recreation, social
protection), (2) Public Goods (defense, environment, order and safety, general public services), (3) Hospitals and Schools

Celiac Disease And Celiacs Disease
Celiacs disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy) is a condition where in some people, gluten cannot be digested and causes
an immune response. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, oats, and rye. In some people who take in and ingest
gluten, an enzyme named transglutaminase transforms the gluten into a chemical that triggers an immune reaction, causing
irritation and inflammation of the lining of the small intestine (Wedro, 2016). The microvilli that make up the inside
surface of the intestine are destroyed, causing nutirents to pass without being, like our body needs from our diet. This can
cause damage to other organs in the body due to malabsorption. (Wedro, 2016) Organs that depends the most on nutrients
to function properly consist of the liver, bones and the brain. This is crucial especially in children because malnutrition can
lead to abnormal growth and development. (Wedro, 2016) Celiacs disease can also be known by Coeliac Disease. Roughly
8,000 years after its first appearence, celiacs disease was identified and named. A Greek physician named Aretaeus of
Cappadocia who lived in the first century AD, wrote about The Coeliac Affection. Also, he called it koiliakos after the
Greek word koelia meaning abdomen. (Guandalini, 2007) Another 17 centuries passed, and in the early 19th century Dr.
Mathew Baillie, presumably unaware of Aretaeus, published his observations on a chronic diarrheal disorder regarding
adults, causing malnutrition and characterized by a

Margot Heinemann s Characteristics In King Lear
William Shakespeare s King Lear is the tragic story of a king s descent from power as the life that he had once had
crumbles before him. It is a story that relies heavily on the relationships between its characters and how they change. Lear
is slowly driven insane throughout the course of the play as he unintentionally rids himself of the positive relationships
while relying upon negative ones. However, it is Margot Heinemann s argument that the play not only relies on
interpersonal drama, but also the politics of England in her essay, Demystifying the Mystery of the State : King Lear and
the World Upside Down . In her essay, Heinemann provides an in depth analysis of how the politics of England when the

Edgar plays a large role towards the end of the story coming back from the position of Poor Tom, and as he is challenging
Edmund, he says the following:

That if my speech offend a noble heart
Thy arm may do thee justice. Here is mine.
...
Thy valor and thy heart, thou art a traitor: (5.3.125 127,133)
Edgar fearlessly challenges his brother at the end of the play, telling him to draw his sword and retaliate if he is offended
by what he says, and he then calls him a traitor among other things. The reader is surprised to see Edgar reaching this
position because he had fallen so far. He was originally in the good graces of his father, but then he had to go into hiding
and act like a crazy beggar because his father wanted him dead. He then transforms from a crazy beggar to a noble
swordsman for the end of the play so that he can defeat his brother in an attempt to save those who are in danger. This
scene is incredibly powerful to the reader because of the Upside Down World effect which is caused by Edgar s resolution
to not give up on England and to save those who are important to

The Great Purge And Was A Social Policy Of Stalin
Stalin is a name everyone probably has heard at some point, most likely in a history class that you have long forgotten
now. However people tend to not know that during his time as Premier of the Soviet Union he killed more people than
Hitler did. This could have been through his policies or his Five year plans. Joseph Stalin ruled the Soviet Union from
1929 to 1953 when he died. In that 24 year span he killed an estimated 50 million people (Haines) and this doesn t include
the lives lost in WW2. For some reason, it something that we do not learn in history; it is excluded from our history books.
This is called the Great Purge and was a social policy of Stalin, he was collecting Jewish people though he was after
opponents to his regime. Between 1934 and 1939 stalin set in a motion to have about ⅓ of the three million communist
officials purged (Freedland). These people were either sent to a work camp or a gulag, put on trial where they were forced
to plead guilty, or they were just executed. This was a policy of his that would secure his place in the communist party, he
even went as far to have pictures of himself edited so that he wasn t in them with certain people. Stalin also sent his son,
Yakov Dzhugashvili, to the eastern front hoping he would die. He did this because Yakov was an active opponent of his
father (Evans). When he was captured the Nazi s tried ransoming him back, to which stalin said to kill him; which is what
happened. Having purged the party he could

Muslim Trade And Its Influence On Early West Africa
Muslim traders brought many new things to Africa which influenced the early West African kingdoms and their cultures.
In 800 AD, in between Niger and Senegal, Ghana was established due to development of trade because of the farming
communities. The king at the time, was seen as a god like figure and he was able to control the price of exports and tax
goods coming in and out of the kingdom. Muslim merchants coming to trade brought Islam, Arabic language, coinage, and
their business practices as well as goods to trade for the salt and gold that Ghana was known for. The King of Ghana
eventually converted to Islam and employed Muslims as government councils and officials allowing the spread of Islam to
expand and the two cultures to defuse. After

Binyon For The Fallen
For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon is a third person tribute to the British men killed in action. Written following the
Battles of Mons and Marne, the first heavy fighting of the war by the British, this poem deals largely with the finality of
death for the men who fought at these battles who no longer will enjoy friends and will never grow old as their surviving
comrades do and those who did not fight do. It describes soldiers as sons of England and recognizes their sacrifices as acts
of martyrdom that the survivors of war and those at home are not to forget. In its final two stanzas it recognizes their place
among the stars, beings that will never truly be gone.
2) In this poem, Binyon is trying to say that there is a justification and glory in the death and that these young men who
gave their lives have not died in vain, but in the cause of the free . He also insists that despite the fact they may not enjoy
their worldly lives anymore, they serve forever as a light to guide England through the war.
3) Binyon personifies England as the mother to the dead soldiers her children, as well as parallel structures particularly in
the fifth stanza. He repeats They in reference to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

scare soldiers away from enlistment. It is an account much more typical of someone who was not a soldier during the war

already begun to suffer from forms of PTSD(Gilbert CH.

Shooting Free Throw
Shooting Free Throws.
Shooting free throws should be the easiest thing about basketball, but some people just cannot get the hang of it. It seems
to be easy because of the word free , and there is no defence. You are unguarded, straight in front of the basket, and only
15 feet away. Free throws haunt players at every level of basketball. A free throw is only worth one point when made, but
one point can win or lose you the game. I will be telling you the perfect form and technique to shooting and making a free
throw.
First, you have to find a way to get in the zone and be comfortable. Everyone is focused on you, but you need to be
focusing on the shot you re about to take. That is a lot easier said than done because there are millions of eyes watching
just you. The fans, cheerleaders, and the mascots are just a few of the distractions. When practicing your freethrow always
have a mental thought like you re in the game and you re going to sink it. Nothing else matters once you re on the free
throw line, you need to be clear minded to take a good shot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one has the exact same shooting routine, you will just have to come up with one on your own. A routine will help to

target the entire time. That helps to blur the distractions and get you fully focused on the free

The Experience of Media Violence for Children
Media Violence By the time a child reaches the age of one, they see about 200,000 acts of violence on television. (Nakaya,

showed that 66 percent of Americans think that there is an abundant amount of graphic acts of violence on televisions
(Nakaya, 18). People are exposed to thousands of acts of violence through video games, television, and movies. Many
studies show that media violence increases violent behavior in in humans. Studies show, violent video games, and graphic
television have physiological effects on children. The government has very few regulations on media violence. Some
people believe the government shouldn t limit content because others might be insulted by its material. Even though the
government shouldn t censor the media, Media violence is becoming a serious issue because it is becoming more violent,
it makes people behave violently, and it has little regulations. The regularity and asperity of media violence has
dramatically increased over the years. Media violence is such a broad topic, so we cannot simple get rid of it. People are
exposed violent acts in the media everyday between video games, movies, and television. The Federal Communications

The Globalization Of A Multinational Corporation
A Multinational corporation is a corporation that does business in two or more countries. It has its home base in its own
country, but has branches or subsidiaries in other countries. Their home base is the company s identity. For example
Toyota is Japanese even though it operates in the United States. With modern technology and improvement in
communications, transportation and infrastructure, corporations are venturing beyond national boundaries in the pursuit of
business opportunities. Their size provides them the opportunity to achieve markets and increase their scale in

Managerial Styles and Culture Shock: Difference between Japan and United States
The Japanese managerial styles go as far back as Empiricism. Japanese live to work for their company. Japanese are loyal
to the company first whereas the Americans are loyal to self. Japanese management sees employees as their most
important resources and are required to contribute ideas to improve the corporation; whereas Americans see employees as
expendable. Japanese management sees the company as one group and the whole group must succeed. Decision making in
Japan is a long process, in many stages to minimize errors and bring consistency but once a decision is made, everybody is
on the same page. In the United States management makes quicker decisions that sometimes can lead to short sightedness.
It is probably because the Japanese are all one culture and Americans come from a variety of backgrounds. The Japanese
management believe in continuous improvement and

Similarities Between Buddhism And Buddhism
Buddhism, like other world religions, is not one homogeneous grouping of like minded devotees adhering to one school of
thought. Just as Christianity has its Catholics and Protestants, and Islam its Sunnis and Shiites, Buddhism is also
comprised of various schools and sects. Some scholars separate Buddhist schools into geographical groupings, such as
Southern, Eastern and Northern traditions, whereas some prefer to focus on a more tradition specific delineation, such as
Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana Buddhism (Cousins 1998, p. 370; Buddhism 2015 ). All traditions accept the
fundamental Buddhist doctines of Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, anatta (absence of soul) and karma
(causation), but differ on other significant aspects. This essay will compare and contrast two Buddhist traditions, the
Therevada Buddhism of Sri Lanka, and Mahayana Buddhism of China. Theravada Buddhism can also be characterised as
representative of the Southern tradition of Buddhism, whereas Mahayana is of the Eastern tradition. This essay will also
address how these particular types of Buddhism developed in their respective countries.
Prior to the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka in 247 BCE, the cultural environment was characterised by a mix of
indigenous (veddha) and Aryan beliefs, influenced by elements of mainland Indian culture (Perera 2013). It was the Indian
Emperor Asoka who sent his son, Mahinda, to introduce Buddhism to the Sri Lankan king (Robinson, Johnson Bhikku

Social Media and the Misuse of Information Social media refers to the publication and dissemination of media content
such as text, images and videos, through online social communications via easily reached and scalable publishing

as just a medium of interaction and virtual home to transfer or extend relationships but today social media has become a

Over the last few years, social media has gained enormous popularity all over the world. Almost everyone use Facebook,
Twitter, Flickr, Whatsapp messenger and other social media platforms for professional or social purposes. Social Media
today plays the role as an alternative press, which gives access to varieties of information and news materials. Since the
invention of social media platforms, the way of communication has changed away from the classical one way or `one to
many´ communication to a dialogue, interactive multidimensional model. These innovations are relatively quite young in
communication history and the consequences are not yet known (1184). Social media offers huge opportunities such as
democratic participation, e learning, e shopping, access to information and participation in information sharing. It is also
important to state the negative impact of these platforms on our society as it leads to recklessness and misuse of

Being Blind Vs. Being Blind In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
Being Blind vs Being Blind
A person who is medically blind can still see, and a person with 20/20 vision can be just as blind or even more than a
person who is medically blind. In Raymond Carver s short story Cathedral the narrator is waiting for his wife s old friend
to arrive. However, he is not very thrilled with him visiting because this man, Robert, is blind. The narrator is very
ignorant in what he knows about blind people, and of the comments he makes about Robert or blind people in general. The
narrator is ignorant because simply put, he does not know or have any understanding of blind people. (add something
about Robert being able to see more) In the beginning of Cathedral, the narrator states things that make it obvious that he
knows nothing about blind people. From the beginning of the story, he is put off by the arrival of Robert. In the first
paragraph of the story, the narrator says, I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one I knew. And his being blind
bothered me (Cite book). He was bothered merely by this man having a physical disability of not being able to see. One
could even go as far to say that the narrator was discriminating against Robert, in this case, that would be called Ableism.
Ableism has been defined to include overt discrimination against people with disabilities, the notion that people with
disabilities are inferior to non disabled people, and the idea that a person s disability is a defining character flaw (Neely
Barnes). The narrator makes assumptions about Robert and his life. He thinks that because Robert is blind he cannot live a
life as say he himself can. After explaining that Robert s wife had passed and he had to bury her, the narrator goes on to
explain how awful it must have been to marry a blind man and at the end of the story he says, Pathetic (Cite book). He
called Roberts s life and relationship with his wife Beulah, pathetic all because he was blind.
The narrator of Cathedral had many misconceptions about the blind. Mainly because he didn t know anything about them.
For example, he said, My idea of blindness came from the movies...A blind man in my house was not something I looked
forward to (Cite book). If everyone based all

years following the Second World War housing was designed and master planned in a way that embodied these ideologies.
These generalisations structured ideas about the location of new post war housing laying the way for married women to be
exploited in the low pay labour market. However rapid social change following the war resulted in greater number of
women being drawn into the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These houses were amalgamation of retained social expectations of housework but also more progressive architectural
ideas. The period saw great change thanks in part to the influence of the Garden City Movements and Raymond Unwin.
Unwin semis featured additional living space on the ground floor, running hot water, internalised kitchen and bathing
facilities. The extra living space on the ground floor provided an area for families to engage with everyday life and again a
parlour in the front of the house to entertain with. The changed position of the kitchen to inside the house really
demonstrates the change of gender perspective during this time, it lessened the separation of house tasks by bringing them
closer to the family. The provision of hot running water, electricity and internal washrooms helped ease some of the labour
of housework, beginning to liberate the housewife. It was however still expected that she would prepare and serve all
foods. Therefor the housewife found herself in a funny situation of being both privileged with modern conveniences but
still bound to being unseen doing her task in a small space as if a

E. Cummings Create Meaning
E.E. Cummings uses incomplete sentences and made up words to create meaning. How is that possible? Edward Estlin
Cummings was born in 1894, in Cambridge Massachusetts. He went to Harvard to study Impressionism and Cubism. He
has created many poems and has had a successful life. The question here is, How does E.E. Cummings use vision and
hearing to create meaning? E.E. Cummings creates meaning by using Visual and Auditory techniques. To begin with, E.E.
Cummings uses visual techniques to create meaning. One way he used visual techniques is by creating his poems in many
different shapes and forms including spaces and parenthesis. For example, in document A, the poem looks like a number
one. Also in his poem, r p o p h e s s a g r he uses a

I Was Waiting At Line For Lunch
I was waiting in line for lunch. I had just left from combo. At this camp my combo was a jazz ensemble that actually
sounded amazing together. None of my friends were around me in line so I just waited quietly. I heard someone behind
start talking about there combo. They said, Ugh, we have Sam again this year. Why does he have to be so bad? And sigh,
now we have Rami, he is... I turned around instantly and asked, Rami is what? He paused while his friends laughed at him.
He was literally and figuratively talking behind my back. Brian, the person who talked behind my back, grabbed me by
my waste and attempted to apologize while I thought to myself, Whatever, just sleep with one eye open. This kid lived in
Boston too and went to Belmont ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shame and embarrassment I felt stuck with me for a few hours until I got over it. One night we had a campfire.
Towards the end the lower campers were dismissed and the counselor s told us about what was planned. We were going to
play something called senior snap. You had to snap in front of your target then sing Roar by Katy Perry while pretending
to be a mime stuck in a box and then hope that no one saw you. If someone saw you then you would be out. However, if
you got the person out you would have their target. You could also be immune to being snapped if you wore an outfit that
was stated on the snap schedule. The outfits got increasingly harder as the camp went on. The only way to get someone
out in a costume was to snap them out on the green, a large open field. The counselor s had written in secret who each
person had and we had to decode it. Once I had decoded my sheet I had found out of course, that I had the one person I
didn t want. I had Brian. I had strategized multiple situations on how to get Brian out but they all ended in failure. Of
course he was always with people because he was one of the popular people on camp. It all came down to one fateful
afternoon. It was really hot out and Brian was walking back from combo by himself. I saw him on the green and didn t see
anyone else. I sprinted from behind him and snapped right in his face. I was so happy that I started laughing when I

My Family And My Life
Today, my family and I are finally leaving. We have been debating on leaving for the past week or so. We have recently
lost all of our money. My dad wants to go and earn money in We live in Greece and it is about 100 miles to the coast
where our ship will board. I am taking as many clothes as possible and I am taking my old teddy bear that I have had since
the day I was born. We walked for days, taking breaks when possible and finding shelter during storms. Then one day my
father said , Look,, there it is... the ship. It had gig text on the side that said Nevada At this point I was trembling and the
hairs on the back of my neck were standing up. As we were boarding the ship the scent of people who hadn t bathed in
weeks or maybe even months. It was terrible, but it was also the best. We were on our way to freedom. There was
thousands of people. We were order to go to steerage. It was like a big room under the ships deck. It wasn t a few minutes
after we set our bags down next to our bunks that we felt the ship jerk. We were moving! My whole family looked at each
other and despite the terrible odor and sounds of the ship creaking, we smiled. For what felt like an eternity we rocked and
swayed with the motion of the waves and water. We were served the worst food you could ever imagine. It looked like
baby food, they must have just thrown things into a blender and dumped it on a plate. My mom and dad were not very big
fans of the food, so we would always sneak very

Going To Nursing Home
For most people, going to the nursing home would not be considered a fun after school activity, but to the members of one
of Athens High School s newest organizations, Health Occupations Students of America, we look forward to it. When we
go to the nursing home, we help to encourage the patients in any way we can. We like to give patients advice on their
health. Patience is key to a successful visit with a patient. For example, a lady who has Alzheimer s does not like to take
her medication. I encouraged her to take her medicine because it is essential for her health. You only need a few minutes to
sit with a patient and give them advice. This motivates people to reach their goals. Ask them what are they trying to
achieve. Let them know

Compare And Contrast Lincoln And Nathan Forrest
Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest are remembered as very influential leaders during the time of the Civil War.
Though one may argue the morals of one may have been better than the other, both Lincoln and Forrest left lasting
influences throughout and after the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln held the position of United States president during the
Civil War while Nathan Bedford Forrest held the position of general for the Confederate Army.
Both Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest were influenced by their early lives. Abraham Lincoln was born in
Hardin County, Kentucky on February 12, 1809. Lincoln s family was very poor and uneducated (Burlingame, N.D.).
Lincoln s father, Thomas Lincoln, was illiterate, and his mother, Nancy Hanks, passed away when Lincoln was just nine
years old. After Lincoln s mother passed away, his father married Sarah Bush Johnston. Lincoln s stepmother was a smart
woman who pushed Lincoln s education (Burlingame, N.D.). Lincoln s father, mother, and stepmother would be
considered major factors in Lincoln s success later on in his adult life. Nathan Bedford Forrest was born in Chapel Hill,
Tennessee on July 13, 1821. Forrest s father, a blacksmith, died when Forrest was just sixteen years old. ... Show more

Forrest effectively withdrew from Fort Donelson, even subsequent to being cornered by General Ulysses S. Allow. In
April 1864, Forrest caught the government army at Fort Pillow. Forrest absurdly slaughtered 200 Union troops, the
majority of them being African Americans who were previous slaves ( Nathan Bedford Forrest , 2009). This event would
later be known as Forrest s most controversial act, especially since he was a major supporter of the K.K.K. Forrest s left
the influence of a hero on the south, but the influence of a racist murderer on the north ( Nathan Bedford Forrest ,

Keiretsu Case Study
3.2 Enterprise ownership and corporate governance Following the post war era, Keiretsus, known as the large Japanese
enterprises, are the predominant powers in the Japanese economy with the distinguished features of Japanese organization
and business systems. Keiretsu refers to a group of firms that consist of interlinked board of directors with shareholders
who share similar business intentions (The Economist, 2009). Keiretsus are controlled by a body of professionals; a stark
departure from its previously family controlled ownership style known as Zaibatsus. Keiretsus are huge organizations with
powerful positions in the present Japanese economy and are able to easily fend off international competition. It can be
analyzed that the key features of Keiretsus are: financial independence, closely interlinked relationships, and a widely
established network around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be argued that the main difference in Japan and China s management style is the presence of centralized decision
making, which was more dominant in China as compared to Japan s meritocratic society. Additionally, the development of
different enterprise structures mainly; Keiretsus in Japan, and SOEs in China led to the new era of successful enterprise
ownership in both countries. The similarity of both countries state involvement in economy and technology was
highlighted in terms of corporate governance. Furthermore, the lack of trust was the key factor that resulted in China to
differ from Japan in terms of inter firm relations. It can be argued that Japan s extensive network was able to flourish
abroad due to lesser restrictions; whereas Chinese firms are usually more restrained within family ties and political

The Effect Of Temperature On A Chemical Reaction
Leonardo Cufone
Aim: to determine the effect of temperature on a chemical reaction.
Hypothesis: If the temperature (I.V.) of materials in the reaction are increased, the reaction time (D.V.) will decrease.
Variables: In this experiment, the temperature (in degrees Celsius) of the chemicals is the independent variable. To change
the temperature, the materials are placed in a bath of water being heated by a hotplate.
The reaction time (in seconds) is the dependent variable of this experiment. This will be changed by the temperature of the
chemicals, and as it is affected by the independent variable it is considered the dependent variable.
The volume of chemicals (in mL) is the controlled variable of the experiment. As it will be the same in each trial and will
not be changed, it is considered the controlled variable. Another controlled variable is the equipment that is used. For each
trial the same equipment is always used, and therefore is also a controlled variable. The type of chemicals themselves are
also controlled as for each trial they are the only chemicals used.
Safety: There are two potential hazards in this experiment.
Hydrochloric acid (HCl) has risks as it is a corrosive compound. Corrosive compounds, including HCl, can cause injuries
such as burning and eating away skin and eyes. To prevent such injuries, do not come into physical contact with HCl.
Wear safety glasses, safety gloves and lab clothing.
Sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3) is risky as it is a toxic

The values of Kp are 0.2576, 0.7727 and 10.3 for T1(s), T2(s) and T3(s) respectively.
1.3. Solution Description
In order to complete the experiment the values for Kp were needed as shown at the end of the previous section. The
method of simplify the block diagram in section 1.2 to the final transfer function equation is shown below:
Ts= KpKmKθτS+1s+KpKmKθ
Then by substituting in values for Km, Kθ and τ, gives:
Ts= 15.53Kp0.1s2+s+15.53Kp
Ts= 155.3Kps2+10s+155.3Kp eq. 1.3.1.
That then is the final version of the simplified equation to get the values for Kp needed in the ESVL section of the
experiment.
In order to calculate the response characteristics the equations listed in the introductions were utilized and programmed
into the MATLAB program in order to speed up the calculation progress for each of the experiments.
The MATLAB code generated was quite basic, the program aimed to easily calculate the required variables through firstly

Animals And Animal Rights
Introduction, animals that are being tested safety of their products that s been a subject of an intense debate for over 10
years. While, a lot of people that alleged animals, the remained animals are being subjugated by the research cosmetics
companies all over the country/all over the world. Even though, the scientists frequently profit from animal research, I don
t think all the suffering, the pain, and the animals dying are worth just trying find out the human benefits from the
products. Foremost, the animal s rights were dishonored when they are used in experiments. Humans and animals are very
similar in a lot of ways, such as both humans and animals think, they behave, experience pain and they have feelings too.
Therefore, animals must remain preserved with the same admiration as us humans. Even though, the animal s rights had
been dishonored when they re being used in examination because they can t say no. The Animals are endangered because
of the tests, the tests often cause permanent damage or even death. The animals never have the option if they want to do
the experiment. Animals don t just freely give up themselves for the development for new technology. The scientist makes
the animals decision for them whether they like it or not. Their decisions are made for them because they cannot tell them
what they do or don t want to happen to them. When the scientist chooses the animals destiny in their experimental
environments, the animal s rights are taken away

  • 2. Medicine And Medicine In The Elizabethan Era Medicine and Shakespeare The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic, or hospital. (Mark Hyman). In the Elizabethan Era, most of society was poverty stricken, which drove communities to improvise to help the sick as real doctors and physicians were too expensive. Barbers and wise women rose to the occasion of helping the sick, although they did not have much medical knowledge. Medical knowledge was also lacked in professional doctors and physicians as their knowledge revolved around their religion, leaving the sick in the mercy of misconceptions. During the 16th century, society suffered from lack of medical knowledge and ignorance to the benefit of sanitation, resulting in misconceptions of faulty doctors that brought expansion of diseases and death. Society was deprived of the proper sanitation that would of helped prevent most diseases that killed many. The daily routines of commoners contributed to the extension of diseases as those routines were not very hygienic. For example, people emptied their bodily waste into cesspits, which served as a breeding grounds for fatal diseases (Catcher); people rarely changed their clothes as they usually only had an outfit for each season; and peasants had to use dried leaves as toilet paper. During their menstrual cycle, women had to use tampons and pads made up of old rags and cloths wrapped around naturally absorbent moss (Catcher), which can lead to infections in the genitals as the ... Companies became bankrupt one after another, resulting in more and more Americans being laid off. Soon, it became a common sight to see large crowds of homeless people waiting outside of soup kitchens and bread lines, no matter what city or town you were in. It was during this dark period of despair and misery that Bessie Smith, the Empress of the Blues, recorded one of her most well known and loved songs, Nobody Knows You When You re Down and Out. She hit her old Packard with a parked truck near Coahoma, Mississippi, between Clarksdale and Memphis and injured herself so severely that one of her arms was nearly severed off her body. • 7. Celiac Disease And Celiacs Disease Celiacs disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy) is a condition where in some people, gluten cannot be digested and causes an immune response. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, oats, and rye. In some people who take in and ingest gluten, an enzyme named transglutaminase transforms the gluten into a chemical that triggers an immune reaction, causing irritation and inflammation of the lining of the small intestine (Wedro, 2016). The microvilli that make up the inside surface of the intestine are destroyed, causing nutirents to pass without being, like our body needs from our diet. This can cause damage to other organs in the body due to malabsorption. (Wedro, 2016) Organs that depends the most on nutrients to function properly consist of the liver, bones and the brain. This is crucial especially in children because malnutrition can lead to abnormal growth and development. (Wedro, 2016) Celiacs disease can also be known by Coeliac Disease. Roughly 8,000 years after its first appearence, celiacs disease was identified and named. A Greek physician named Aretaeus of Cappadocia who lived in the first century AD, wrote about The Coeliac Affection. Also, he called it koiliakos after the Greek word koelia meaning abdomen. (Guandalini, 2007) Another 17 centuries passed, and in the early 19th century Dr. Mathew Baillie, presumably unaware of Aretaeus, published his observations on a chronic diarrheal disorder regarding adults, causing malnutrition and characterized by a ... It is a story that relies heavily on the relationships between its characters and how they change. Lear is slowly driven insane throughout the course of the play as he unintentionally rids himself of the positive relationships while relying upon negative ones. However, it is Margot Heinemann s argument that the play not only relies on interpersonal drama, but also the politics of England in her essay, Demystifying the Mystery of the State : King Lear and the World Upside Down . In her essay, Heinemann provides an in depth analysis of how the politics of England when the play takes place, and also when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reader is surprised to see Edgar reaching this position because he had fallen so far. He then transforms from a crazy beggar to a noble swordsman for the end of the play so that he can defeat his brother in an attempt to save those who are in danger. • 11. The Great Purge And Was A Social Policy Of Stalin Stalin is a name everyone probably has heard at some point, most likely in a history class that you have long forgotten now. However people tend to not know that during his time as Premier of the Soviet Union he killed more people than Hitler did. This could have been through his policies or his Five year plans. Joseph Stalin ruled the Soviet Union from 1929 to 1953 when he died. In that 24 year span he killed an estimated 50 million people (Haines) and this doesn t include the lives lost in WW2. For some reason, it something that we do not learn in history; it is excluded from our history books. This is called the Great Purge and was a social policy of Stalin, he was collecting Jewish people though he was after opponents to his regime. Between 1934 and 1939 stalin set in a motion to have about ⅓ of the three million communist officials purged (Freedland). These people were either sent to a work camp or a gulag, put on trial where they were forced to plead guilty, or they were just executed. This was a policy of his that would secure his place in the communist party, he even went as far to have pictures of himself edited so that he wasn t in them with certain people. Stalin also sent his son, Yakov Dzhugashvili, to the eastern front hoping he would die. He did this because Yakov was an active opponent of his father (Evans). When he was captured the Nazi s tried ransoming him back, to which stalin said to kill him; which is what happened. Having purged the party he could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 800 AD, in between Niger and Senegal, Ghana was established due to development of trade because of the farming communities. The king at the time, was seen as a god like figure and he was able to control the price of exports and tax goods coming in and out of the kingdom. Muslim merchants coming to trade brought Islam, Arabic language, coinage, and their business practices as well as goods to trade for the salt and gold that Ghana was known for. • 13. Binyon For The Fallen For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon is a third person tribute to the British men killed in action. Written following the Battles of Mons and Marne, the first heavy fighting of the war by the British, this poem deals largely with the finality of death for the men who fought at these battles who no longer will enjoy friends and will never grow old as their surviving comrades do and those who did not fight do. It describes soldiers as sons of England and recognizes their sacrifices as acts of martyrdom that the survivors of war and those at home are not to forget. In its final two stanzas it recognizes their place among the stars, beings that will never truly be gone. 2) In this poem, Binyon is trying to say that there is a justification and glory in the death and that these young men who gave their lives have not died in vain, but in the cause of the free . He also insists that despite the fact they may not enjoy their worldly lives anymore, they serve forever as a light to guide England through the war. 3) Binyon personifies England as the mother to the dead soldiers her children, as well as parallel structures particularly in the fifth stanza. He repeats They in reference to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This perspective is one that would have been peddled mostly by domestic supporters of the war and propaganda offices as it is very inspirational and ideal, creating an image of death that would not scare soldiers away from enlistment. It is an account much more typical of someone who was not a soldier during the war as it features no references to violence and isn t cynical in nature, and ignores that survivors of these two battles had already begun to suffer from forms of PTSD(Gilbert CH. ... Japanese are loyal to the company first whereas the Americans are loyal to self. Japanese management sees employees as their most important resources and are required to contribute ideas to improve the corporation; whereas Americans see employees as expendable. Japanese management sees the company as one group and the whole group must succeed. Decision making in Japan is a long process, in many stages to minimize errors and bring consistency but once a decision is made, everybody is on the same page. Just as Christianity has its Catholics and Protestants, and Islam its Sunnis and Shiites, Buddhism is also comprised of various schools and sects. Some scholars separate Buddhist schools into geographical groupings, such as Southern, Eastern and Northern traditions, whereas some prefer to focus on a more tradition specific delineation, such as Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana Buddhism (Cousins 1998, p. 370; Buddhism 2015 ). All traditions accept the fundamental Buddhist doctines of Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, anatta (absence of soul) and karma (causation), but differ on other significant aspects. This essay will compare and contrast two Buddhist traditions, the Therevada Buddhism of Sri Lanka, and Mahayana Buddhism of China. Theravada Buddhism can also be characterised as representative of the Southern tradition of Buddhism, whereas Mahayana is of the Eastern tradition. This essay will also address how these particular types of Buddhism developed in their respective countries. Prior to the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka in 247 BCE, the cultural environment was characterised by a mix of indigenous (veddha) and Aryan beliefs, influenced by elements of mainland Indian culture (Perera 2013). • 21. Being Blind Vs. Being Blind In Raymond Carver s Cathedral Being Blind vs Being Blind A person who is medically blind can still see, and a person with 20/20 vision can be just as blind or even more than a person who is medically blind. In Raymond Carver s short story Cathedral the narrator is waiting for his wife s old friend to arrive. However, he is not very thrilled with him visiting because this man, Robert, is blind. The narrator is very ignorant in what he knows about blind people, and of the comments he makes about Robert or blind people in general. The narrator is ignorant because simply put, he does not know or have any understanding of blind people. (add something about Robert being able to see more) In the beginning of Cathedral, the narrator states things that make it obvious that he knows nothing about blind people. From the beginning of the story, he is put off by the arrival of Robert. In the first paragraph of the story, the narrator says, I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one I knew. And his being blind bothered me (Cite book). He was bothered merely by this man having a physical disability of not being able to see. One could even go as far to say that the narrator was discriminating against Robert, in this case, that would be called Ableism. Ableism has been defined to include overt discrimination against people with disabilities, the notion that people with disabilities are inferior to non disabled people, and the idea that a person s disability is a defining character flaw (Neely Barnes). The narrator makes assumptions about Robert and his life. He thinks that because Robert is blind he cannot live a life as say he himself can. After explaining that Robert s wife had passed and he had to bury her, the narrator goes on to explain how awful it must have been to marry a blind man and at the end of the story he says, Pathetic (Cite book). He called Roberts s life and relationship with his wife Beulah, pathetic all because he was blind. The narrator of Cathedral had many misconceptions about the blind. Mainly because he didn t know anything about them. For example, he said, My idea of blindness came from the movies...A blind man in my house was not something I looked forward to (Cite book). In this lifestyle model the male of the house is the wage earner and the woman holds responsibility for domestic chores and rising children. This model is particular apparent in the working classes during the early 20th century. In the years following the Second World War housing was designed and master planned in a way that embodied these ideologies. These generalisations structured ideas about the location of new post war housing laying the way for married women to be exploited in the low pay labour market. The extra living space on the ground floor provided an area for families to engage with everyday life and again a parlour in the front of the house to entertain with. The changed position of the kitchen to inside the house really demonstrates the change of gender perspective during this time, it lessened the separation of house tasks by bringing them closer to the family. The provision of hot running water, electricity and internal washrooms helped ease some of the labour of housework, beginning to liberate the housewife. It was however still expected that she would prepare and serve all foods. Hypothesis: If the temperature (I.V.) of materials in the reaction are increased, the reaction time (D.V.) will decrease. Variables: In this experiment, the temperature (in degrees Celsius) of the chemicals is the independent variable. To change the temperature, the materials are placed in a bath of water being heated by a hotplate. The reaction time (in seconds) is the dependent variable of this experiment. This will be changed by the temperature of the chemicals, and as it is affected by the independent variable it is considered the dependent variable. The volume of chemicals (in mL) is the controlled variable of the experiment. As it will be the same in each trial and will not be changed, it is considered the controlled variable. Another controlled variable is the equipment that is used. For each trial the same equipment is always used, and therefore is also a controlled variable. The type of chemicals themselves are also controlled as for each trial they are the only chemicals used. Safety: There are two potential hazards in this experiment. Hydrochloric acid (HCl) has risks as it is a corrosive compound. Corrosive compounds, including HCl, can cause injuries such as burning and eating away skin and eyes. To prevent such injuries, do not come into physical contact with HCl. Wear safety glasses, safety gloves and lab clothing. Sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3) is risky as it is a toxic ...
