Life Changing Decisions And Now After 26 Years Of Military...
Just like any young teenager nearing high school graduation, I faced multiple life changing
decisions and now after 26 years of military service, I still believe that I made the right decision.
At the time of graduation, I did not envision college in my future. I was not fond of school and
was looking to gain experience in life when it happened; I met a U.S. Army recruiter who
communicated too me, you could do just that in the Army. I was not a stellar performer in
school, but neither had I failed any classes, I merely wanted something different. After a lengthy
discussion with my parents, we arranged an appointment where we could all set down with the
recruiter who probably already knew that it was my parents that he would have to convince, as I
was already sold. After several hours of open ended fact finding questions from the recruiter, my
parents could see that this was the road that I would be taking, and reluctantly signed the contract
for their 17 year old son to join the U.S. Army. After taking the entry exam and passing my
physical, I was ready to choose a career field and complete my initial contract. I still remember my
counselor telling me The Sky is the Limit as I signed up to be a United States ArmyParatrooper and
Field Artilleryman. Needless to say, my mother was not pleased at the time however, I bet if you
were to ask her how she feels after 26 years, she would have a very different answer. After a few
short years of learning every aspect of my

Quentin Tarantino s The Bride
The Bride thinks, As I lay in the back of Buck s truck, trying to will my limbs out of entropy, I

Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. When fortune smiles on something as violent and ugly as

Vol. 1 is an action film directed by Quentin Tarantino that was released in 2003. It focuses on a
skilled assassin known as The Bride who is brutally attacked at her wedding from a group of
people sent from her vengeful ex lover Bill. This leads to her dedicating her life to getting revenge

Despite the fact that the characters show no depth or development, they are strong, witty and
entertaining. First, there is the Bride. She has such an intriguing motivation that the audience
can sympathize with. Everything she does is with personal reason and in every single
interaction with another character she is badass. Later, O Ren Ishii is introduced to the
audience. The Bride flies to Tokyo to face O Ren, a powerful leader of the underground Tokyo
crime council. O Ren controls her own personal army, the Crazy 88. O Ren is shown as a very
well respected crime lord. For instance, the characters she interacts with in the movie all show
great respect or even fear towards her. Even when the Bride flies to Tokyo for her vengeance, all
of O Ren s subordinates willingly fight the Bride for her. She is met first with O Ren s best, most
trusted warriors; then after a short battle, The Bride says, So, O Ren, anymore subordinates for me
to kill? The Bride shows no fear or worry when dealing with anyone, which is compelling to
watch. Then she faces O Ren s fiercest fighter, Gogo, she almost reaches death, but survives.
Even in the moment during this fight where she seemingly has no other option but to lose hope,
she shows no unease and ends up winning the fight. After this gruesome scene, more of O Ren s
subordinates arrive. This leads to the Bride and O Ren exchanging words in which Oren asks
the Bride, You didn t think it was going to be that easy, did you? . The Bride expresses that she
did. O Ren follows up with, Silly Rabbit, and The Bride finishes her sentence with, tricks are for

Persuasive Essay On America s Birthday
America s birthday is an ideal holiday to get family and friends together. Good planning is the
key. There is more to planning a 4th of July bash than just creating a guest list and preparing
delicious food. Most parties will be held outdoors. This means implementing a strategy that gives
your guests the best experience while decreasing the potential damage to your lawn. Mark Your
Territory There might be parts of your lawn you do not want to use for your get together. You
don t want guests walking over newly sown grass. There may be other reasons you don t want
parts of your lawn to be trampled on. Mark the off limit areas with red, white and blue streamers
tied to stakes. The streamers offer a festive look while serving a good purpose.

Comparing The Book Top Guns By Joe Foss And Matthew Brennan
The novel Top Guns by Joe Foss and Matthew Brennan is a biography about many brave,
extraordinary aces back in World War 1 and 2. One pilot, Arthur Raymond Brooks, was born in
Framingham, Massachusetts in 1895. He graduated as valedictorian from Framingham
Academy and High School in 1917 (Foss, 4). Arthur didn t want to continue school, so he
enlisted in the U.S Army Signal Officer Reserve Corps. Also, he attended the School of Military
Aeronautics, with the Royal Flying Corps in Canada from September to November 1917 (Foss,
3 5). In 1918, Brooks was transferred to France, where he flew the SPAD S. VII. After three
victories he became flight commander of the 22nd Aero Squadron flying the SPAD XIII C.1.
These three victories were not easy, Brooks took on eight German Fokker D. VIII aircraft. He
shot down four Germans with God on his side, as Brooks said, I am alive today because of things
I learned to do in one case and things I knew nothing about in the other special flying techniques
and my guardian angel (Foss, 14). Arthur was followed back by the four other Germans,

swimming through water, to almost kill airspeed and allow me to drop straight down onto that
small field (Foss, 14). He had no communication to any airport or airstrip in the early days,
therefore, Arthur had to make a lot of dangerous landings in modest airplanes, when the airport had

Kasper Rorsted Essay
Abstract
How was CEO Kasper Rorsted able to transform an underperforming consumer goods company into
a great one? What methods and techniques did he use to help motivate his employees? What is the
winning culture all about? Could the agenda that Rorsted put before his company be implemented
at other large multinational corporations? I will attempt in this paper to answer these questions and
more as I dig into the life of Kasper Rorsted and his transformation of Henkel.
When Kasper Rorsted joined Henkel in 2005, it was with the understanding that he would
eventually replace current CEO, Ulrich Lehner. The process was a three year journey that
would prepare Rorsted to assume the reigns of a floundering consumer goods and cosmetics
company. Rorsted was 43 years old at the time and did not have expertise in the fields of
chemicals or cosmetics. Henkel s headquarters are in Germany, but Rorsted is not German. As a
matter of fact, when Rorsted became CEO of Henkel in 2008 three years after he was hired he
became the company s first CEO who was not born in either Germany or its neighboring country of
Austria (Simons, 2014).
Rorsted was born in Denmark and began his early career working for American based ... Show more

He instituted a new philosophy that changed the culture from one of complacency to one of
achievement. Rorsted began as CEO during the most economically challenging time possible the
height of the global recession. To be fair, Henkel was not the only large corporation that was
struggling during this period. The global recession did not discriminate and it took no prisoners;
net profit for the company was cut in half, as well as the company stock price. But, despite the
gloomy global outlook, Rorsted promised better days ahead. He made grand predictions as to how
Henkel would reemerge from this downturn a much stronger and focused corporation (Simons,

Similarities And Differences Between Beowulf And Iliad
Beowulf and Iliad are some of the most famous stories in literature. In both stories we can see
how the characteristics of heroic is presented in many sorts of different ways. Although they
bear some superficial similarities, the differences between Beowulf and Iliad are clear. They
both involved heroic events, but the settings and the way both stories are being told involved
many dissimilarities. The both heroes in the stories are also interacted with supernatural beings
and many different sorts of events. In Beowulf we see characteristics such as bravery, loyalty,
honor, superhuman physical strength, and the willingness to risk his life for the greater good.
Beowulf shows bravery when he hears about how Grendel is attacking the Hrothgar and the hall.
Grendel was attacking the men at night and Beowulf wanted to go help. In his far off home
Beowulf, Higlac s follower and the strongest of the Geats greater and stronger than anyone
anywhere in this world heard how Grendel filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a
boat fitted out, proclaiming that he d go to that famous king, would sail across the sea to
Hrothgar, now when help was needed. (Beowulf 111 116) In this section we see how Beowulf was
not afraid to go up against Grendel . He shows his willing to risk his life for the greater good when
he is not afraid to go up against the dragon in his last battle. I ve never known fear, as a youth I
fought in endless battles. I am old, now, but I will fight again,

United States Military Soldiers Suffer
Many United States military soldiers suffer, not only from health issues, but also physical
workload and finding jobs outside of the military. Many soldiers have lost limbs, and tore their
bodies apart for what they believe in. A soldier sacrifices his life, his family, and his career for our
life, family and careers. The sacrifices made by the soldierthat gives everything up is irreplaceable
and once they sign their names to that contract there is no going back. Many soldiers have health
problems. On August 31, 2010 President Obama announced that operation Iraqi freedom was
ended. Statistics show that 4,412 service men had died and 31,939 servicemen were injured during
the course of this war (Military). In 2011 there were two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Year 1000 By Robert Lacey And Danny Danziger
The Year 1000 by Robert Lacey and Danny Danziger offers a delightful, often astonishing portrait
of everyday life in Anglo Saxon England in the year 1000. This very informative book, describes
what life was like that the turn of the first millennium. The Anglo Saxons, a practical, self
contained, fervently superstitious people, were 99% illiterate, yet their language would become
their most widespread legacy. Compared to modern day times, people are almost the opposite from
the Anglo Saxons. There are many qualities that are the same, but also different when comparing
the Year 1000 to the modern era of the 21st century. Within this paper, it will discuss about how the
community, lifestyle, advances in technology, politics, and religion were formed in the Year 1000.
It will also compare and constrast the Year 1000 to the Paleolithicand Neolithicera.
The Paleolithic Era (or Old Stone Age) is a period of prehistory from about 2.6 million years ago
to around 10000 years ago . There are very few subjects that are more controversial than the
origins of the human species. During the Ice Age, a race of people known as the Neanderthals
inhabited the fringes of the European ice pack . Because their remains were discovered in
Neanderthal in Germany, these people were known as Neanderthals. Neanderthals were slightly
different then Homo sapiens. They were heavier, stronger, and hairier then the Homo sapiens .The
Neanderthals lived a very simple life. They were hunter/gathers, and

William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying Essays
William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
In his book, As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner pioneers new and interesting literary forms. His most
obvious deviation from traditional novel writing was the new style of narration in which he used all
the main characters as the narrator at one point or another. This allowed the reader to gain insight
into the character s thoughts, and also to prove very interesting and entertaining. Faulkner also
ignores all boundaries that sane people have placed upon the English language to keep it readable.
Faulkner forges his own set of rules for syntax that allow for a very choppy yet elegant stream of
consciousness in the character s narration. Lastly, Faulkner makes incredible leaps away from
established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faulkner does a great job of varying the attitudes and styles of the characters as they narrate in
turn, but this creates a confusing atmosphere, especially in the first few chapters. For instance,
the first section is narrated by Darl who talks about Jewel, Tull, and Cash like we are supposed
to know who they are. The next section is by Cora who mentions Addie, Kate, and Mrs.
Lawington, and talking about issues with each one of them, and we still don t know who Darl is.
As you could imagine, this creates quite a bit of confusion in the first part of the book, until the
reader can sort through the characters, but by that time, a quarter of the book is gone and needs to
be reread. An upside of this method, however, is that it allows the author the full use of the minds
of his characters, and he can create a more clear picture of their thoughts.
Another peculiarity of the narration of this book was the idea of stream of consciousness. Faulkner
uses his words to try to express what the characters are thinking at that moment. The thoughts tend
to ramble a little, with one idea leading onto another, and many of them not making sense unless
some assumptions are made of past events. This form of narration is made possibly by the use of
fragment sentences, run ons, and many other strange

Descriptive Essay On Haunted House
My bus ride home came to a screeching halt. My bus driver is not a very good driver. I stepped,
well more like jumped down the steps of the school bus and I wish I could say I stuck the
landing, but sadly I didn t. I almost went head first into a tree, but I caught myself and played it
off as I quickly got my balance back and walked towards my house as if nothing had happened. I
watched as the wind blew through the tree branches, knocking even more warm colored leaves to
the cold ground. I swear these trees have an infinite amount of leaves to give to the autumn wind. I
have always had a special place in my heart for autumn. The food is amazing, the weather couldn t
be better, and the hoodies, don t get me started on hoodies. On top of all that, today is Halloween.

Nursing Mobility And Safety
Mobility and safety are two nursing topics that are very related. Safety is the key to ensure that the
patient can remain mobile. It is important that the patient has ways to move around without fear of
falling. It is also imperative that the patient knows how to move safely and use mobility devices.
The nurse needs to understand how these two topics go together to ensure that the patient will
remained unharmed at the hospital and in the home. As stated earlier, safetyis so important to make
sure that patient keeps their mobility. The surroundings need to be safe to prevent falls. When
falls are prevented, the patient remains mobile. One safety precautions to ensure that falls do not
happen is to have a clear area for the patient to be able to walk around. This means not having
objects in their pathway or rugs in their walkway. Having these objects in the way can cause the
patient to have a fall. Having rooms well lit will prevent falls. If they are able to see... Show more

There might be certain movements that can affect mobility in the future or could re injure they
surgical site. For example, after a hip replacement surgery patients are given and abduction pillow.
According to Hip Rehab After Surgery , the pillow is used to prevent the patient from dislocating
their new hip. After the surgery for safety reasons their mobility must be restricted while it heals.
When they do the surgery, they cut through muscles and those have to grow back. This will prevent
further injury and the patient will be able to get back their normal mobility after it is healed.
Although there are certain actions that post operation patients cannot do they still need to be
mobile. The patient is moved as soon as the patient is able to handle it. Getting the patient up will
prevent blood clots in their legs and promote blood circulation. Proper blood flow to the legs will
mean that they can remain mobile and stay

The Pros And Cons Of Eugenics
Eugenics is the science of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population by
controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristic traits and
decrease the occurrence of undesirable characteristic traits or genetical defects (Webster, 1828.)
Eugenic sterilizationrefers to the involuntary sterilizationof certain categories of individuals
without their need for consent by those subjected to the procedure (Pozgar, 2012, Pg. 411.)
Individuals classified as mentally deficient, feeble minded, epileptic, promiscuous, sexual
deviants, or persons classified as habitual criminals were mainly targeted (Pozgar, 2012, Pg. 411.)
Eugenicists argued degenerate traits tainted society through the reproduction of the lowest class
and sterilization was to keep the handicapped from perpetuating themselves (Kaelber, 2014.) In
addition, eugenicists also argued that feeble minded individuals were believed to be financial
burdens to society by overcrowding prisons, hospitals and living off welfare (Kaelber, 2014.)
Sterilization was seen as a way to prevent the spending of tax dollars on the feeble minded
(Kaelber, 2014.) These arguments allowed Eugenicsto become an acceptable practice. Advocates
believed that getting rid of the feeble minded and mentally deficient would decrease the undesirable
characteristic traits within the human gene pool and ultimately improve the human population. The
very first sterilization law was passed in

St. Thomas Aquinas, David Hume, And Nel Noddings
In life, our character is tested numerous times through difficult predicaments. In a fictional scenario
set in a genocidal, totalitarian regime, the head of house faces an extremely challenging dilemma.
While the common individual may approach the predicament a certain way, the philosophies of
Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther King, Jr., David Hume, and Nel Noddings give us an idea of what
may be the most correct choice. While each philosopher presents a different and sound argument,
they each have a different idea of what is morally right. St. Thomas Aquinasthe most influential
medieval philosopher created a bridge between faith and reason, and, thus, gave the world
philosophies that can be applied to many different scenarios. His ethics include a set of laws
known as the Eternal Law, the Divine Law, the Natural Law, and the Human Law. The Eternal
Law is the law that only God knows. The Divine Law is the Bible, and human beings have the
ability to obey these interpreted divine laws. The Natural Laws are laws that were created by God
(because God created everything), but must be deciphered by human reason. Lastly, Human Law is
what is set by governments, and it is usually unfair or flawed. That being said, the Human Law of
the fictional genocidal, totalitarian regime would be categorized as deeply flawed. In Thomas
Aquinas Summa Theologica: Question XCIV, he states that good is that which all things seek after
and that good is to be done and pursued, and evil is to be

A Comparison of A Modest Proposal, Tartuffe, and Candide
Writers use personality traits and events to change the classical ideals. Majority of the writer s
focus is to change people s attitude s. Jonathan Swift, Jean Baptiste Poquelin Moliere, Francois
Marie Arquet de Voltaire use characterization and plot to challenge the themes of the Neo Classical
period.
In A Modest Proposal, Jonathan Swift challenges the Neo classical period by creating a sense of
instability in their way of thinking. He attacks the society by carelessly endorsing cannibalism in
hopes to help Ireland through their economic crisis. He demonstrates this by humbly proposing and
assuring that a young healthy child, well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious, nourishing, and
wholesome food. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swift demands the audience to recognize the narrator s purpose having no other motive than the
public good of my country, by advancing our trade, providing for infant s, relieving the poor, and
giving some pleasure to the rich. (Swift 489) The speaker optimistically believes that his idea is
for the best. If Swift did not believe that his idea would not have a positive outcome he would not
have suggested. Regardless of Swift s inhumane suggestion, which is negative, he only tries to
reveal the positive of the situation. This feeling of insecurity is his way of disparaging the Irish and
English government.
In Tartuffe, Moliere s use s plot to defend and oppose characters that symbolize and ridicule
habitual behavior s that was imposed during the neo classical time period. His work, known as a
comedy of manners, consists of flat characters, with few and similar traits, and that always
restore some kind of peace in the end. He down plays society as a whole by creating a
microseism, where everyone in the family has to be obedient, respectful, and mindful of the head
of the home, which is played by the father Orgon. Mariane shows her obedience when she replies
To please you, sir, is what delights me best. (Moliere 324,11) Shortly afterwards, Orgon commands
Mariane to take Tartuffe as her husband even though she is not interested in him at all. Orgon s
command shows how men are dominate

Promiscuity
Promiscuity. What is your reaction to the word? We all know a promiscuous girl. We all look
down on her in our own ways. Sometimes she is backstabbed by friends and sometimes she is
openly scorned by others. What we do not realise, is she is not the only one, or maybe we do not
want to accept it. Research positions us at first place on the podium of promiscuity. Why are we
such a promiscuous nation? What risks are we bringing upon ourselves? Are we all nomads in
the land of sexuality? Perhaps it is our loose lifestyles, or when growing up we are faced with
confusion. A young New Zealander s lifestyle of drinking, partying, and in some cases, drugs is the

This may result in a decrease of promiscuity, as the new generations self esteems will be
healthier. For young people I believe the confusion they are faced with when growing up may
play a part. Maybe the transition into adulthood makes young people think they need to start
being sexually active. They may become desperate to feel belonging or companionship. These
feelings could be likened to those of Holden Caulfield the main character and protagonist of The
Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. Throughout the novel Holden is on a seesaw between being
a child and being an adult. One of the issues that surface for him is that of having sex. At one
point in the novel Holden is faced with the opportunity I kept hoping she d be good looking. I
didn t care too much, though. I sort of just wanted to get it over with. This shows Holden s
feelings towards sex. Under these circumstances sex has no signs of intimacy or fun. It is almost
as if sex is an opportunity for him to grow up . Maybe it is simply a rite of passage. It worries me
that this may be the reason for some young people being promiscuous. If they think becoming an
adult means they must do this they are obviously not mature enough yet and still need time to
grow up. The statistics produced by a condom maker labels New Zealand women as the most
promiscuous in the world with an average of 20.3 sexual partners. New Zealand men were not at
the top like the women but still above average with

Tuck Northrop should receive the Beard Award because I truly cannot think of a person who is
as caring and kind as he is and also excels in so many areas. I m a junior at Fairfield Ludlowe
High School, and though Tuck is not one of my academic teachers, he coaches me in both the fall
and spring on our high schoolsailing team.
Though I was only a freshman and had not experienced the team pre Tuck, everything I had
heard of the past years was only negative. But from the second Tuck arrived as our coach, the
team has been on a continuous incline to some of the best years that the Fairfield Sailing Team
has experienced in its existence. We do have a few good sailors on the team from their own past
experience, but I definitely credit Tuck s coaching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is not a single coach out there who cares about his sailors more than Tuck. I have been on
many teams in the past, and not one coach dedicates as much time or care into the team as Tuck
does. In the three years that he has been our coach so far, we have greatly increased our team
building activities off the water, which has ultimately made the team stronger than ever in its
overall chemistry, disregarding just our skills and knowledge of the sport. Tuck also knows
each of the team members very well individually, which allows him to pick the best team
pairings and also teach us based on our individual personalities, goals, and weaknesses. He wants
each one of us to succeed more than anyone I know, and is willing to do everything he possibly
can in order to help us on our own personal paths to success in sailing, academics, or more. I have
no doubt that Tuck knows each of his students just as well in the classroom as he does on our team,
allowing him to interact with both his students and us much more easily than other teachers. His
ability to unite all of the team members enables our success overall to have reached our current
achievements and hopefully even more in the future.
While these two highlights of Tuck s personality and ideals demonstrate very well the type of
person he is, he has so many more great qualities including his generosity, ambition, and fun loving
nature. Though

The Final Count Is Correct
The final count is correct is a common statement that operating room (OR) nurses use daily. This
statement is a signal of safety for closing the patient s operative site. The occurrence of a retained
surgical item (RSI) was the most frequently reported sentinel event from 2010 through 2012 and
again in 2014 (The Joint Commission [TJC], 2012, 2014). Counting of surgical items is necessary
to provide protection and safety of the patient. One of the highest priorities for the OR nurse is
assuring the final countof items used in the surgical procedure is accurate. Risk factors for RSIs
are greater with varying situations and barriers which often lead to inaccurate counts. Because
RSIs can lead to death, the Institute of Medicine produced a report in 1999 that was an ethical
call to arms for never events (Stawicki S. P. et al, 2013). At this time the institute challenged all
facilities to establish safety guidelines to help minimize complications that were deemed
preventable (Stawicki S. P. et al, 2013). RSIs were at the top of the list for risk. The Perioperative
Nursing Data Sets (PNDS) are professional guidelines developed and maintained by the
Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses. These guidelines outline the expectations for the
OR nurse to carry out while a patient is in their care. One item of the PNDS states the patient is
free from signs and symptoms of injury due to extraneous objects (Rothrock, 2015). Counts

A Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) is an organism that has been genetically modified with
the genes of an unrelated plant or animal. This process is called genetic engineering, or
modification. (Smith J.) The process must be done in a laboratory because the natural barriers
organisms have to protect themselves from foreign DNA. In order to fight these natural barriers
genetic modifiers have various methods to insure the organism becomes modified. These methods
include; Using viruses or bacteria to infect animal or plant cells with the new DNA, Coating DNA

not enough research to prove this statement. There is also controversy on the lifespan of the
goat. Normal goats live around sixteen years, since there is not much research scientist are not

The Issue Of Hate Crimes
Rashawn Augustin
Soc 308
One of the major problems that we are facing in the world are hate crimes. Despite this being a
major issues, there appears to be no solution in sight to put a stop to hate crimes. For this paper I
chose to focus on hate crimes I can gain more knowledge about this topic and because it s
something that I have personally experienced. Throughout U.S. history, a significant proportion of
all murders, assaults, and acts of vandalism have been fueled by hatred. As Native Americans have
been described as the first hate crime victims, members of all immigrant groups have been subjected
to discrimination, harassment, and violence.
When people think of hate crimes they often mention the KKK and African Americans or Hitler
and Jewish people. To be exact, a hate crime is known to us a bias motivated crime which is
usually motivated by race, religion, sexuality etc that typically involves violent acts. There are
various forms of hate crimes that occur throughout the world. A few examples of this are racist
hate crimes, homophobic hate crimes, religious hate crimes, transgender hate crimes, and even
disability hate crimes. Every hour, a crime motivated by the perpetrator s bias against the victim
occurs in the United States. These hate crimes terrorize whole communities by making members of
certain classes whether racial minorities, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people,
religious minorities or people who are perceived to be members of

Hydrological Alterations Due to Climate Change
Water constitutes an indispensable component of climate system found in all parts of biosphere.
Increased temperatures reported throughout the last century resulted in a number of hydrological
alterations extending from modification of precipitation patterns, rapid snow and ice retreat, to
changes in total runoff and increasing number of intensive or extreme events. These changes of
climateassociated with the water availability show substantial spatial and temporal variability
(Bates et al., 2008). In Europe, climate change has a strong north south gradient, imposing positive
changes in the north and negative changes in the south in terms of rainfall and precipitation
(Christensen and Christensen, 2007). Areas such as the Mediterranean basin are particularly
vulnerable and projected to experience more frequent, long lasting and intensive drought events.
Therefore as indicated by several studies annual river discharge is expected to decrease along
with high seasonal flow variability (Alcamo et al., 2007; Arnell, 2004; Iglesias et al., 2011;
Milly et al., 2005). Likewise with the general Mediterranean trend, Italy is exposed to progressive
water scarcity as indicated by past observations and future projections. Over the last five decades
precipitation was decreased by 14% along the country, while a further diminishing is the main
projection of the IPCC scenarios towards the end of 2060. Under the A2 emission scenario 10%
precipitation decrease is predicted for the north and

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Chipotle
Chipotle ventured into a new territory when it was created, as it had an innovative vision for fast
casual restaurants. By using fresh and quality ingredients, Chipotle raised the bar in their segment.
The service line where customers could see their order being prepared enhanced the experience of
Chipotle. Consumers who were used to eating at fast casual restaurants where the food was frozen
and made out of sight were able to savor the uniqueness of Chipotle. These differences helped
Chipotle become successful. However, as competitors copy the traits that make Chipotle unique,
Chipotle must adapt and overcome in order to remain a profitable company. Chipotle saw an
opportunity in the fast casual restaurant industry and launched an innovative concept. It believes
that fresh and quality ingredients are key and that customers are willing to pay more for such
ingredients. To ensure such ingredients, Chipotle uses a large amount of organic food in their
restaurants. This not only creates fresher and healthier food options for consumers, but also assists
local farms that supply the organic food. Not only does Chipotle use organic food, but it uses
produce that is in season. This reduces the costs of transporting produce and ensures that the
ingredients are fresh. While competitors attempt to replicate the menu, style, and flavors of
Chipotle, they do not have the resources to use organic ingredients as efficiently as Chipotle does.

Demon Vampire Research Paper
The Cursed Vampire
Let s start with your past shall we? About the time when you re alive, when you haven t go on a
trek to slaughter all the demon hunters. The inquisitor asked. I was silenced, I tried to avoid
him, but it didn t turn out well. He glanced at me and said nothing, as if he was use to
downworlders like me. He sighed and shake his head, pulling out something that looks like an
angel blade, but it has a gun s trigger on the two side. Pulling the trigger on both side, a bright
light came out from top and point it towards me. Then I remembered what it is, it s the blade of
justice, it is said that it will give a unique effect to downworlders who s against the person who is
holding the blade. I was vulnerable, but it didn t intimidate me a bit. Even though the light was
bright, I didn t even blink. Maybe it s because I have some crazy demonic vampire powers, but I
was stronger than any ordinary vampire.
I sighed. You can do whatever you want with the blade of justice, but it won t work against me. I
have trained to defend myself against any kind of magic. To defend demon hunters who want to
eliminate me. I was boring, so I started thinking about my past, where all the things happened.

The Impact Of Technological Change On The British...
Technological change was at the heart of driving the British Industrial Revolution over the late 18th
and early 19th century. A series of significant inventions such as steam engines, spinning jenny and
water frame had precipitated British economy s evolution from pre modern to sustained economic
growth. To explain the radical change in technology, two competing factors are highlighted in
literature. Economists like Sir John R.Hicks outlined that the real reason for the predominance of
labour saving inventions is surely that ... a change in the relative prices of the factors of production
is itself a spur to innovationand to inventions (). In contrast, Joel Mokyr argued that it was the right
combination of useful knowledge generated by scientists, engineers and inventors to be exploited
by a supply of skilled craftsmen in an institutional environment that produced the correct incentives
for entrepreneurs (Crafts, 2010, p155 156). By comparing the impacts of factor prices and
institutions on technological change in Industrial Revolution, the former is evidently more important
than the latter.
Britain s peculiar wage and price structure was decisive in motivating dramatic technological
change over industrial revolution. The abundance of coal s supply made energy very cheap (Allen,
2009, p82). Other than that, the relative price of labour to capital and energy had been surging
from the mid 17th century (Allen, 2009, pp171 172). Due to the factor price structure of British

Gender Roles: Shakespearean and Modern During the Elizabethan times, there were many issues
facing common people and William Shakespeare. An important issue that played a part in everyday
life for Elizabethans, whether rich or poor, was the difference between men and women. Gender
roles have been debated throughout history and are changing everyday. Although modern American
genderroles are much more defined and different than Elizabethan times, if Shakespeare were to

Homosexuals are fighting for their rights in court, but since the fear and hate of them is still bad
for most people, they are losing ( Homophobia ). Considering women in Elizabethan times were
looked at as weak and helpless, there are many differences between gender roles in Elizabethan
times and today. One major difference is the way that husbands treated their wives ( Elizabethan
Women ). . In the Elizabethan Era, men treated their wives as if they were servants in the
household, making them complete all of the domestic chores around the house. This gave men the
idea that women were their property, hence the thought that women were weak and helpless (
Marriage and Family ). In modern America, a man treats his wife with respect, and as equal as
every other person in society. This gives off a different idea than Elizabethan times; this idea is
that women are strong and confident. Men also had a head of the household status in Elizabethan
times, which gave them control of everything that went on in his house ( Marriage and Family ). In
present day America, women are often the head of the household, because women usually tell men
what to do and when to do it. Gender roles have changed to the highest extent since Elizabethan
times, which gives women greater opportunities to contribute to society. Back in the Elizabethan
Era, women were restricted to jobs only in the domestic field or housewives ( Elizabethan

The moral standards approach is the approach that focuses on three dimensions of the impact of
the proposed action: (1) whether it provides a net benefit to society; (2) whether it is fair to all
stakeholders; and (3) whether it is right. The moral standards approach was developed by
Professor Manuel Velasquez in 1992. Although some overlap some of the first approach, the focus
is less company centred, and is better suited for the evaluation of the decisions where stakeholders

These are all statistics regarding to the negative aspect of gambling. Is there anything positive about
gambling? At this point one wouldn t think so.
Besides stating the fact that gambling puts money in the wrong hands and that the chances of
winning are not very good, Pathlights goes on to say that gambling causes many other problems
that are destroying America. Compulsive gamblers are likely to have been married three or more
times because of the problems gambling brings home to the household. The suicide rate for
spouses of compulsive gamblers is one hundred fifty times higher than the national average. It is
estimated that the average compulsive gambler affects four to ten other people, especially the
children. Twenty five percent of compulsive gambler s kids show behavioral or adjustment
problems in school, use alcohol and other drugs, or are arrested (PATHLIGHTS). Pathlights makes
a strong argument defying gambling. Gambling seems to be an impossible way to earn money and
the money spent at casinos could be used for programs that are clearly more important. Also,
gambling is a downfall to society. It causes family problems and affects the children of gamblers.
Is there really a positive side to gambling?

Racial Disparity Essay Topics
The debate on whether or not racial disparity is an issue in the United States is very popular. On
one side, are the people saying that racial disparity is an issue and that police are the main
culprits; on the other, are the people who say that police do not racially profile people and that
racial disparity is not an issue. While both sides have their differences, they also have some
similarities. For example, both viewpoints deal with racial disparity. On top of that, both are using
policedata and official statistics to prove their points. Those two points are the only two spots
where both sides overlap. The differences between the two chapters are more evident. In chapter
fifteen, it is said that the percentage of black drivers being pulled over for traffic stops is
disproportionate because police are racially profiling the drivers; but in chapter sixteen, it is said
that police are not profiling minority drivers, they are simply stopping people most likely to be
criminals. It is also stated in chapter sixteen that the population of Richmond is mostly African
Americans, and so the statistics are not disproportionate. Another point brought up in chapter
fifteen that was not mentioned in chapter sixteen, is the concern of officers not reporting the
correct information for each stop. As an example of this, raceand ethnicity are not listed on a driver

In fact, the unitarist management views trade/Labor unions and government mandated Labor
standards as unnecessary. If management is applying effective policies and has good
communication with its employees then conflict will not be an issue, hence conflict is seen as a
result of poor management. Management with this frame of reference tend to be against unions
and government intervention hence will not want unions in their workplace. However, many
manager and employees tend to see their workplace or firms in unitary term and are happy with
their situations. So in order to avoid conflict management will provide a better working
environment, decent wages and work flexibility. However, this perspective is market based
because if the company with these frame of reference have goals that are not met, maximisation of
profit, then they will tend to cut cost in order to meet this goal. This will lead to several cuts in the
workplace such as bonuses, paid leaves and so on.
The pluralist frame of reference in management is a complete opposite of unitarist view in terms of
unions. The pluralist management perspective consist of employees and employers bargaining in
imperfect labor markets in the presence of pluralist conflict. Pluralist conflict is an employment
relationship consisting of multiple interest such as employers might want flexibility, intense pace of

Examples Of Otherness In To Kill A Mockingbird
The world is created out of oppositions, divisions and separations between the one and the Other.
When people collide or meet, in that sense, in the meeting between different cultural backgrounds
they tend to define the others by defining themselves. Jacque Derrida puts it in his essay Archive
Fever: Freudian Impressions every Otheris every other Other, is altogether Other (p.77).
Alternatively, as Harper lee sets it clearly in her novel To Kill a Mockingbird you never really
understand a person until you consider things from his point of view ... until you climb inside of
his skin and walk around in It (p.32)
It is always relevant to analyse how the One describes, and in that way defines the Other. The
definition of this Concept is related to the definition of the One. The question of the other in general
has been a controversial topic throughout the years in different fields: anthropology, sociology,
history and literature. It is associated with the time of the Civil Rights Movement in which

Ethnic Differences Between The United Kingdom And America
Throughout this paper I will focus on data from the United Kingdom and America and focus solely
on the disadvantages that ethnic minority groups endure which effect their health status. In doing
this, I will highlight several explanations put forth by social scientists, such as cultural,
socioeconomic and racial approaches whilst incorporating different literature, such as the works of
Bartley (2004), Nettleton (2013) and Nazroo (1997). Before exploring the many explanations that
social scientists offer to explain the ethnic differences in health status, it is important to
acknowledge that gathering data on racial or ethnic minorities is extremely problematic. This is
because there are not any universally agreed definitions of ethnic or racial groups and definitions
change over time (Aspinall, 2002). Such problems of the lack of conceptual clarification stem from
whether researchers presume that raceand ethnicity are a biological or a social characteristic. To
overcome this problem, throughout this paper, I will use the term racial or ethnic minority to refer
to any group of people who are exposed to unfavourable treatment because of their national origins,
shared social histories, or religion as outlined in the works of Bartley (2004: 151). Until recent years
there has not been a huge amount of literature exploring the patterns between ethnicity and health
status. The literature that was available often focussed on biomedical explanations or focused on

Color-Blind Racism
Sociologist define race as a socially defined category based on real or percived biological
differnces between groups of people . In the 19th century biologist came up with the three different
categories that groups the three human races: Mongoloid, Causasoid and Negroid. They belived
that different races where charaterized by biological makeup. But modern sciences have proved
that theory to be wrong because there is no such thing as a pure race. We are 99.9% genetically
idenitcal. Race is just a concept humans made up, it isn t actually real.
A minortiy group is the percentage of a ethnic group in a certain area. While dominate culture

Intelligence, Surveillance, And Reconnaissance Operations
Introduction
The United States (US) Intelligence Community (IC) requires a succinct method for measuring the
collection effectiveness of Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) operations of both National Technical
Means (NTM) and airborne Sensitive Reconnaissance Operations (SRO) Intelligence, Surveillance,
and Reconnaissance (ISR) collection. Intelligence professionals seek to leverage the GEOINT
capabilities at their disposal to satisfy validated requirements in the most efficient manner possible
due to the high demand, low density nature of ISR GEOINT assets. With the number of validated
collection requirements surpassing the collection capacity available to collection managers there
must be an effective manner of evaluating the GEOINT collection strategy to ensure the greatest
amount of GEOINT is collected to satisfy a Joint Force Commander s (JFC) Priority Intelligence
Requirements (PIR). This imbalance between the amount of collection that is needed and the
capacity available to acquire and exploit the images drives home the necessity for a GEOINT
collection strategy that incorporates a method for measuring its effectiveness of satisfying
requirements throughout the execution cycle of collection operations.
When discussing the options available for measuring GEOINT collection effectiveness a brief
background section will highlight the significance of ISR GEOINT collection across the six
phases of operations. Additionally, the background section will provide a review of

The Balance Of Power Theory
Balance of power theory represents a body of interrelated concepts for achieving security and
stability by maintaining an equal distribution of power throughout the international system. Some
critics contend that the theory cannot provide guidance to states in a unipolar system since it
developed out of centuries of multipolarity and decades of bipolarity. This assessment is
incorrect. Although a specific conception of balance of power theory may not provide guidance,
an appraisal of the concepts within its various forms suggests continuing relevance. This paper
discusses balance of power theory by examining the evolution of its structural and ideational
variants, and asserts that the concept remains relevant in a unipolar international system. The
balance of power is a historical concept with a variety of meanings. In Thucydides account of the
Melian dialogue, he indirectly refers to countries balancing in response to growing Athenian
power and aggression (Thucydides, 1972). Over 1200 years later, Hobbes described balancing in
reference to the ability of a confederacy of the weak to overwhelm the strong (Hobbes, 1996).
Both Thucydides and Hobbes reference a type of balancing aimed at reestablishing an equilibrium
of power within the international system. Gulick refers to this behavior by states as a doctrine of
counterpoise, designed to ensure the survival of individual states and to prevent a state from
accruing predominant power (Gulick, 1955). During the 19th

Arctic Tern Research Papers
The Arctic Tern The Arctic tern is a seabird that belongs to the tern family, Sternidae. The species
spends the northern summers in the colder regions of Eurasia and North America. It migrates to the
southern hemisphere during the northern winter. The Arctic tern breeds between May and July in
the Arctic and subarctic regions of Asia, North America and Europe, as far south as Massachusetts.
The Arctic tern has the K reproductive strategy because it only lays two eggs a year, each with a
high probability of survival into adulthood. The population size generally stays the same and equal
throughout the age demographics, a common characteristic of K reproductive strategists. The
community of the Arctic tern contains a wide range of species, as... Show more content on

It s all about survival. When the Arctic tern enters the southern hemisphere, summer starts over
and temperatures stay mild and within the tern s range of tolerance. Most Arctic terns spend the
first month of their migration in the north Atlantic ocean eating and collecting energy for the
long trip ahead. Some migrations have been over 44,000 miles long round trip, with the birds
rarely stopping for rest and food. The specific reason these animals migrate so far is widely
unknown, although it is assumed for survival or breeding purposes. Some scientists suggest that
it s because of the rich [polar] feeding grounds that they travel so far. If the migrations performed
by this organism were to stop, the population would decrease rapidly because the temperatures in
either one of their habitats will drop so low that they will be outside the Arctic tern s limits of
tolerance and the birds would freeze to death. Arctic terns also provide a great source of pest
control when they eat insects and worms during their migrations. This would then be lost if the
Arctic tern stopped migrating. The Arctic tern has an annual mortality rate of 18%, according to
a study in the Farne Islands. Over 50% of the species will live past their 30th birthday, with an
average lifespan of 20 years, an anomaly for birds, who normally live between 2 and 5

Mussolini s rise to power
How far do you agree, that the Bienno Rosso was the most important reason for Mussolini and
Fascism s rise to power in Italy, 1919 22?
Mussolini and the fascists managed to rise to power and take control of Italy in 1922. Mussolini
s rise to power took place mainly due to a combination of conditions that characterized the liberal
Italian state, which existed before his take over. The main factors that led to Mussolini s rise to
power were the impact of the First World War, the weaknesses of the Risorgimento, the Biennio
Rosso , the elite s support for the Fascist Party, and the March on Rome. All of these factors
contributed to Mussolini and the fascist s rise to power.
The Biennio Rosso was a vital factor that contributed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main political alignments of the newly unified Italy were the liberalists, socialist and the
Catholic Church supporters and they all had different views and opposed each other. When
Giolitti was in power he tried to win over all the key groups in order for them to accept and
support the liberal state, however he was unable to do so because in trying to please one section he
would end up alienating the other.
During the years of the liberal system the development of industry in the North led to the founding
of trade unions and cooperative organizations, which then resulted in a significant growth of
socialism.
The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and
glory for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento
were made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. The conditions of growing industry
of the Risorgimento had caused the growth of the socialist movement, which then helped Mussolini
gain power due to his anti communist beliefs.
As a result of how Italy was created but not fully unified, the new Italian state suffered from a
variety of weaknesses which the new liberal state was unable to tackle these. This made Italy
susceptible to the appeal of fascism, and therefore aided Mussolini s rise to power.
Another reason that led to Mussolini s rise to power was the Biennio Rosso which took place in
the years

post course. Journal of outdoor recreation, education, and leadership. 3(2), 87 90.
This research article looks at the concept of expedition behavior. Expedition behavior is the
mindset in which an individual acts during a wilderness adventure in order to benefit the group.
Using this idea as a framework, Furman and Sibthorp look to see how expedition behavior is
transferred from a wilderness setting to regular daily life. To test this, the researcher sent online
questionnaire to individuals that partook in 14 day long backpacking trips through the National
Outdoor Leadership School. In the questionnaire, participants were asked about expedition
behavior and how they use it in their daily life. From the results, they found that participants used
this mindset to become better working in groups, provide a new prospective, and helping with a
task. They go on to suggest that the concept of expedition behavior is a transferable skill. Kriel, C.,

Memorie Episodic Memory Paper
Have you ever wondered how you can remember things so easily sometimes without hesitation?
Your brain is made up of millions of different chemicals and processes to create these memories.
Psychologist Margaret W. Matlin describes memory as the process of retaining information over
time (Zimmermann). This process includes encoding, storing, retaining and then recalling thoughts.
Without our memorywe would be lost not knowing where you are in time, endlessly moving
forward. Memory is essential for almost everything you do day by day, consider for a moment
how much you rely on your memory to help you function just in one day such as using your phone,
test answers or as simple as eating (Cherry). Encoding is the crucial first step to creating a new
memory (Mastin). This is meant to cement the memory in your head using various parts of the
brain. There are three types of encoding such as Acoustic, Visual and Semantic (Mastin). Encoding

Episodic memory critically depends on the medial temporal lobe and several neocortical regions
during memory encoding (Papassotiropoulos). Memory strategies to help with long term memory
has not been shown to affect memory rehabilitation (Ylvisaker). One reason is people with common
forgetfulness often do not use the strategies that have been taught to help with memorization. Also
most have limited space in their working memory, therefore it is hard to remember these strategies.
Most of the studies have been conducted with adults who rarely have to learn or memorize large
amounts of new information. However, in an academic atmosphere, it is worth encouraging
students to do at least some of the following at the time of encoding to enhance their memory
(Hibbard). These being summarizing, taking notes, speaking information aloud and taking in
reasonably small amounts of information in short amounts of

The Emotional Scene In Act IV Scene IV, By William...
Many seem to see Act IV Scene IV as lighthearted and simple or even boring, but this scene is a
truly actually very complex scene due to some and carries some dark undertones. The spring setting
directly contrasts thewith tense discussions and dark themes of death and decay. This comes to a
head when Polixenes reveals himself, sentencing the Old Shepard to death, and Perditato be horribly
disfigured. Throughout the scene, Polixenes actually seems like a mirror for Leontes s actions in
the first three acts. Overall, this scene is definitely more than meets the eye.

other horrible ways. This scares the Shepherd and Clown so much that they gladly pay the thief to

No Real Hero In Maus II
The Impact Of Past Events On The Present: No Real Hero in Maus Maus I and Maus II are
graphic novels written by Art Spiegelman which both make up a good story as well as attempt to
understand the human condition, sort it out and put it in its place. Lynda Barry, the author of One
Hundred Demons suggests that literature helps us to cope as if looking at our demons is a way to
get to know them, to befriend them and even master them. The story explores the nature of guilt,
while exploring traumatic events of the Holocaust through a survivor. This graphic novelalso
explores the impact of the Holocaust and how it affected the lives of people who were born after it

Golf GPS Devices: Knowing the Right Distance
SkyCaddie states golfers need to know the distance to a target and the distance they hit a golf
ball. Observe any golf course and notice the majority of golfers that utilize some form of GPS
device. GPS devices help speed up play and deliver accurate yardages, thus eliminating the need to
walk off distances from yardage markers on the course. There are numerous Golf GPS options
available. Simple information such as the front, middle and back of the green yardages are
available for smaller, wearable, voice enabled and less expensive units. However, if you are

along with a distance to another point on the hole.
Golf Club Distance
Knowing the distance to a target will help when you understand how far you hit the ball. Therefore,
nearly every GPS unit allows you to update and average how far you hit each club. The GPS

club. Once you understand how far you hit each club you will successfully pick the appropriate
club for correct lay ups or precise yardages into greens.

how far you hit each club. The addition of a GPS device will remove any guesswork and take your

  • 2. Life Changing Decisions And Now After 26 Years Of Military... Just like any young teenager nearing high school graduation, I faced multiple life changing decisions and now after 26 years of military service, I still believe that I made the right decision. At the time of graduation, I did not envision college in my future. I was not fond of school and was looking to gain experience in life when it happened; I met a U.S. Army recruiter who communicated too me, you could do just that in the Army. I was not a stellar performer in school, but neither had I failed any classes, I merely wanted something different. After a lengthy discussion with my parents, we arranged an appointment where we could all set down with the recruiter who probably already knew that it was my parents that he would have to convince, as I was already sold. After several hours of open ended fact finding questions from the recruiter, my parents could see that this was the road that I would be taking, and reluctantly signed the contract for their 17 year old son to join the U.S. Army. After taking the entry exam and passing my physical, I was ready to choose a career field and complete my initial contract. I still remember my counselor telling me The Sky is the Limit as I signed up to be a United States ArmyParatrooper and Field Artilleryman. Needless to say, my mother was not pleased at the time however, I bet if you were to ask her how she feels after 26 years, she would have a very different answer. After a few short years of learning every aspect of my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quentin Tarantino s The Bride The Bride thinks, As I lay in the back of Buck s truck, trying to will my limbs out of entropy, I could see the faces of the cunts that did this to me and the dicks responsible. Members all of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. When fortune smiles on something as violent and ugly as revenge, it seems proof like no other, that not only does God exist, you re doing His will. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 is an action film directed by Quentin Tarantino that was released in 2003. It focuses on a skilled assassin known as The Bride who is brutally attacked at her wedding from a group of people sent from her vengeful ex lover Bill. This leads to her dedicating her life to getting revenge on all of the people involved. Due to strong and entertaining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the fact that the characters show no depth or development, they are strong, witty and entertaining. First, there is the Bride. She has such an intriguing motivation that the audience can sympathize with. Everything she does is with personal reason and in every single interaction with another character she is badass. Later, O Ren Ishii is introduced to the audience. The Bride flies to Tokyo to face O Ren, a powerful leader of the underground Tokyo crime council. O Ren controls her own personal army, the Crazy 88. O Ren is shown as a very well respected crime lord. For instance, the characters she interacts with in the movie all show great respect or even fear towards her. Even when the Bride flies to Tokyo for her vengeance, all of O Ren s subordinates willingly fight the Bride for her. She is met first with O Ren s best, most trusted warriors; then after a short battle, The Bride says, So, O Ren, anymore subordinates for me to kill? The Bride shows no fear or worry when dealing with anyone, which is compelling to watch. Then she faces O Ren s fiercest fighter, Gogo, she almost reaches death, but survives. Even in the moment during this fight where she seemingly has no other option but to lose hope, she shows no unease and ends up winning the fight. After this gruesome scene, more of O Ren s subordinates arrive. This leads to the Bride and O Ren exchanging words in which Oren asks the Bride, You didn t think it was going to be that easy, did you? . The Bride expresses that she did. O Ren follows up with, Silly Rabbit, and The Bride finishes her sentence with, tricks are for kids. This is the type of comedic relief that adds to the action and makes the movie so ... There is more to planning a 4th of July bash than just creating a guest list and preparing delicious food. Most parties will be held outdoors. This means implementing a strategy that gives your guests the best experience while decreasing the potential damage to your lawn. Mark Your Territory There might be parts of your lawn you do not want to use for your get together. You don t want guests walking over newly sown grass. There may be other reasons you don t want parts of your lawn to be trampled on. Mark the off limit areas with red, white and blue streamers tied to stakes. • 5. Comparing The Book Top Guns By Joe Foss And Matthew Brennan The novel Top Guns by Joe Foss and Matthew Brennan is a biography about many brave, extraordinary aces back in World War 1 and 2. One pilot, Arthur Raymond Brooks, was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1895. He graduated as valedictorian from Framingham Academy and High School in 1917 (Foss, 4). Arthur didn t want to continue school, so he enlisted in the U.S Army Signal Officer Reserve Corps. Also, he attended the School of Military Aeronautics, with the Royal Flying Corps in Canada from September to November 1917 (Foss, 3 5). In 1918, Brooks was transferred to France, where he flew the SPAD S. VII. After three victories he became flight commander of the 22nd Aero Squadron flying the SPAD XIII C.1. These three victories were not easy, Brooks took on eight German Fokker D. VIII aircraft. He shot down four Germans with God on his side, as Brooks said, I am alive today because of things I learned to do in one case and things I knew nothing about in the other special flying techniques and my guardian angel (Foss, 14). • 6. Kasper Rorsted Essay Abstract How was CEO Kasper Rorsted able to transform an underperforming consumer goods company into a great one? What methods and techniques did he use to help motivate his employees? What is the winning culture all about? Could the agenda that Rorsted put before his company be implemented at other large multinational corporations? I will attempt in this paper to answer these questions and more as I dig into the life of Kasper Rorsted and his transformation of Henkel. When Kasper Rorsted joined Henkel in 2005, it was with the understanding that he would eventually replace current CEO, Ulrich Lehner. The process was a three year journey that would prepare Rorsted to assume the reigns of a floundering consumer goods and cosmetics company. Rorsted was 43 years old at the time and did not have expertise in the fields of chemicals or cosmetics. Henkel s headquarters are in Germany, but Rorsted is not German. As a matter of fact, when Rorsted became CEO of Henkel in 2008 three years after he was hired he became the company s first CEO who was not born in either Germany or its neighboring country of Austria (Simons, 2014). Rorsted was born in Denmark and began his early career working for American based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He instituted a new philosophy that changed the culture from one of complacency to one of achievement. Rorsted began as CEO during the most economically challenging time possible the height of the global recession. To be fair, Henkel was not the only large corporation that was struggling during this period. The global recession did not discriminate and it took no prisoners; net profit for the company was cut in half, as well as the company stock price. But, despite the gloomy global outlook, Rorsted promised better days ahead. He made grand predictions as to how Henkel would reemerge from this downturn a much stronger and focused corporation (Simons, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In both stories we can see how the characteristics of heroic is presented in many sorts of different ways. Although they bear some superficial similarities, the differences between Beowulf and Iliad are clear. They both involved heroic events, but the settings and the way both stories are being told involved many dissimilarities. The both heroes in the stories are also interacted with supernatural beings and many different sorts of events. In Beowulf we see characteristics such as bravery, loyalty, honor, superhuman physical strength, and the willingness to risk his life for the greater good. Beowulf shows bravery when he hears about how Grendel is attacking the Hrothgar and the hall. Grendel was attacking the men at night and Beowulf wanted to go help. In his far off home Beowulf, Higlac s follower and the strongest of the Geats greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world heard how Grendel filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a boat fitted out, proclaiming that he d go to that famous king, would sail across the sea to Hrothgar, now when help was needed. (Beowulf 111 116) In this section we see how Beowulf was not afraid to go up against Grendel . • 9. The Year 1000 By Robert Lacey And Danny Danziger The Year 1000 by Robert Lacey and Danny Danziger offers a delightful, often astonishing portrait of everyday life in Anglo Saxon England in the year 1000. This very informative book, describes what life was like that the turn of the first millennium. The Anglo Saxons, a practical, self contained, fervently superstitious people, were 99% illiterate, yet their language would become their most widespread legacy. Compared to modern day times, people are almost the opposite from the Anglo Saxons. There are many qualities that are the same, but also different when comparing the Year 1000 to the modern era of the 21st century. Within this paper, it will discuss about how the community, lifestyle, advances in technology, politics, and religion were formed in the Year 1000. It will also compare and constrast the Year 1000 to the Paleolithicand Neolithicera. The Paleolithic Era (or Old Stone Age) is a period of prehistory from about 2.6 million years ago to around 10000 years ago . There are very few subjects that are more controversial than the origins of the human species. During the Ice Age, a race of people known as the Neanderthals inhabited the fringes of the European ice pack . Because their remains were discovered in Neanderthal in Germany, these people were known as Neanderthals. Neanderthals were slightly different then Homo sapiens. They were heavier, stronger, and hairier then the Homo sapiens .The Neanderthals lived a very simple life. They were hunter/gathers, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying Essays William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying In his book, As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner pioneers new and interesting literary forms. His most obvious deviation from traditional novel writing was the new style of narration in which he used all the main characters as the narrator at one point or another. This allowed the reader to gain insight into the character s thoughts, and also to prove very interesting and entertaining. Faulkner also ignores all boundaries that sane people have placed upon the English language to keep it readable. Faulkner forges his own set of rules for syntax that allow for a very choppy yet elegant stream of consciousness in the character s narration. Lastly, Faulkner makes incredible leaps away from established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Faulkner does a great job of varying the attitudes and styles of the characters as they narrate in turn, but this creates a confusing atmosphere, especially in the first few chapters. For instance, the first section is narrated by Darl who talks about Jewel, Tull, and Cash like we are supposed to know who they are. The next section is by Cora who mentions Addie, Kate, and Mrs. Lawington, and talking about issues with each one of them, and we still don t know who Darl is. As you could imagine, this creates quite a bit of confusion in the first part of the book, until the reader can sort through the characters, but by that time, a quarter of the book is gone and needs to be reread. An upside of this method, however, is that it allows the author the full use of the minds of his characters, and he can create a more clear picture of their thoughts. Another peculiarity of the narration of this book was the idea of stream of consciousness. Faulkner uses his words to try to express what the characters are thinking at that moment. The thoughts tend to ramble a little, with one idea leading onto another, and many of them not making sense unless some assumptions are made of past events. This form of narration is made possibly by the use of fragment sentences, run ons, and many other strange ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Descriptive Essay On Haunted House My bus ride home came to a screeching halt. My bus driver is not a very good driver. I stepped, well more like jumped down the steps of the school bus and I wish I could say I stuck the landing, but sadly I didn t. I almost went head first into a tree, but I caught myself and played it off as I quickly got my balance back and walked towards my house as if nothing had happened. I watched as the wind blew through the tree branches, knocking even more warm colored leaves to the cold ground. I swear these trees have an infinite amount of leaves to give to the autumn wind. I have always had a special place in my heart for autumn. The food is amazing, the weather couldn t be better, and the hoodies, don t get me started on hoodies. It is important that the patient has ways to move around without fear of falling. It is also imperative that the patient knows how to move safely and use mobility devices. The nurse needs to understand how these two topics go together to ensure that the patient will remained unharmed at the hospital and in the home. The Pros And Cons Of Eugenics Eugenics is the science of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristic traits and decrease the occurrence of undesirable characteristic traits or genetical defects (Webster, 1828.) Eugenic sterilizationrefers to the involuntary sterilizationof certain categories of individuals without their need for consent by those subjected to the procedure (Pozgar, 2012, Pg. 411.) Individuals classified as mentally deficient, feeble minded, epileptic, promiscuous, sexual deviants, or persons classified as habitual criminals were mainly targeted (Pozgar, 2012, Pg. 411.) Eugenicists argued degenerate traits tainted society through the reproduction of the lowest class and sterilization was to keep the handicapped from perpetuating themselves (Kaelber, 2014.) In addition, eugenicists also argued that feeble minded individuals were believed to be financial burdens to society by overcrowding prisons, hospitals and living off welfare (Kaelber, 2014.) Sterilization was seen as a way to prevent the spending of tax dollars on the feeble minded (Kaelber, 2014.) These arguments allowed Eugenicsto become an acceptable practice. Advocates believed that getting rid of the feeble minded and mentally deficient would decrease the undesirable characteristic traits within the human gene pool and ultimately improve the human population. • 14. St. Thomas Aquinas, David Hume, And Nel Noddings In life, our character is tested numerous times through difficult predicaments. In a fictional scenario set in a genocidal, totalitarian regime, the head of house faces an extremely challenging dilemma. While the common individual may approach the predicament a certain way, the philosophies of Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther King, Jr., David Hume, and Nel Noddings give us an idea of what may be the most correct choice. While each philosopher presents a different and sound argument, they each have a different idea of what is morally right. St. Thomas Aquinasthe most influential medieval philosopher created a bridge between faith and reason, and, thus, gave the world philosophies that can be applied to many different scenarios. His ethics include a set of laws known as the Eternal Law, the Divine Law, the Natural Law, and the Human Law. The Eternal Law is the law that only God knows. The Divine Law is the Bible, and human beings have the ability to obey these interpreted divine laws. The Natural Laws are laws that were created by God (because God created everything), but must be deciphered by human reason. Lastly, Human Law is what is set by governments, and it is usually unfair or flawed. That being said, the Human Law of the fictional genocidal, totalitarian regime would be categorized as deeply flawed. In Thomas Aquinas Summa Theologica: Question XCIV, he states that good is that which all things seek after and that good is to be done and pursued, and evil is to be ... Majority of the writer s focus is to change people s attitude s. Jonathan Swift, Jean Baptiste Poquelin Moliere, Francois Marie Arquet de Voltaire use characterization and plot to challenge the themes of the Neo Classical period. In A Modest Proposal, Jonathan Swift challenges the Neo classical period by creating a sense of instability in their way of thinking. He attacks the society by carelessly endorsing cannibalism in hopes to help Ireland through their economic crisis. He demonstrates this by humbly proposing and assuring that a young healthy child, well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food. ... Regardless of Swift s inhumane suggestion, which is negative, he only tries to reveal the positive of the situation. This feeling of insecurity is his way of disparaging the Irish and English government. In Tartuffe, Moliere s use s plot to defend and oppose characters that symbolize and ridicule habitual behavior s that was imposed during the neo classical time period. His work, known as a comedy of manners, consists of flat characters, with few and similar traits, and that always restore some kind of peace in the end. He down plays society as a whole by creating a microseism, where everyone in the family has to be obedient, respectful, and mindful of the head of the home, which is played by the father Orgon. Mariane shows her obedience when she replies To please you, sir, is what delights me best. For young people I believe the confusion they are faced with when growing up may play a part. Maybe the transition into adulthood makes young people think they need to start being sexually active. They may become desperate to feel belonging or companionship. These feelings could be likened to those of Holden Caulfield the main character and protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. Throughout the novel Holden is on a seesaw between being a child and being an adult. One of the issues that surface for him is that of having sex. At one point in the novel Holden is faced with the opportunity I kept hoping she d be good looking. I didn t care too much, though. I sort of just wanted to get it over with. This shows Holden s feelings towards sex. Under these circumstances sex has no signs of intimacy or fun. It is almost as if sex is an opportunity for him to grow up . Maybe it is simply a rite of passage. It worries me that this may be the reason for some young people being promiscuous. If they think becoming an adult means they must do this they are obviously not mature enough yet and still need time to grow up. The occurrence of a retained surgical item (RSI) was the most frequently reported sentinel event from 2010 through 2012 and again in 2014 (The Joint Commission [TJC], 2012, 2014). Counting of surgical items is necessary to provide protection and safety of the patient. One of the highest priorities for the OR nurse is assuring the final countof items used in the surgical procedure is accurate. Risk factors for RSIs are greater with varying situations and barriers which often lead to inaccurate counts. Because RSIs can lead to death, the Institute of Medicine produced a report in 1999 that was an ethical call to arms for never events (Stawicki S. P. et al, 2013). At this time the institute challenged all facilities to establish safety guidelines to help minimize complications that were deemed preventable (Stawicki S. P. et al, 2013). Increased temperatures reported throughout the last century resulted in a number of hydrological alterations extending from modification of precipitation patterns, rapid snow and ice retreat, to changes in total runoff and increasing number of intensive or extreme events. These changes of climateassociated with the water availability show substantial spatial and temporal variability (Bates et al., 2008). In Europe, climate change has a strong north south gradient, imposing positive changes in the north and negative changes in the south in terms of rainfall and precipitation (Christensen and Christensen, 2007). Areas such as the Mediterranean basin are particularly vulnerable and projected to experience more frequent, long lasting and intensive drought events. Therefore as indicated by several studies annual river discharge is expected to decrease along with high seasonal flow variability (Alcamo et al., 2007; Arnell, 2004; Iglesias et al., 2011; Milly et al., 2005). Likewise with the general Mediterranean trend, Italy is exposed to progressive water scarcity as indicated by past observations and future projections. • 28. The Impact Of Technological Change On The British... Technological change was at the heart of driving the British Industrial Revolution over the late 18th and early 19th century. A series of significant inventions such as steam engines, spinning jenny and water frame had precipitated British economy s evolution from pre modern to sustained economic growth. To explain the radical change in technology, two competing factors are highlighted in literature. Economists like Sir John R.Hicks outlined that the real reason for the predominance of labour saving inventions is surely that ... a change in the relative prices of the factors of production is itself a spur to innovationand to inventions (). In contrast, Joel Mokyr argued that it was the right combination of useful knowledge generated by scientists, engineers and inventors to be exploited by a supply of skilled craftsmen in an institutional environment that produced the correct incentives for entrepreneurs (Crafts, 2010, p155 156). By comparing the impacts of factor prices and institutions on technological change in Industrial Revolution, the former is evidently more important than the latter. Britain s peculiar wage and price structure was decisive in motivating dramatic technological change over industrial revolution. The abundance of coal s supply made energy very cheap (Allen, 2009, p82). Other than that, the relative price of labour to capital and energy had been surging from the mid 17th century (Allen, 2009, pp171 172). Due to the factor price structure of British ... One major difference is the way that husbands treated their wives ( Elizabethan Women ). . In the Elizabethan Era, men treated their wives as if they were servants in the household, making them complete all of the domestic chores around the house. This gave men the idea that women were their property, hence the thought that women were weak and helpless ( Marriage and Family ). In modern America, a man treats his wife with respect, and as equal as every other person in society. This gives off a different idea than Elizabethan times; this idea is that women are strong and confident. Men also had a head of the household status in Elizabethan times, which gave them control of everything that went on in his house ( Marriage and Family ). Besides stating the fact that gambling puts money in the wrong hands and that the chances of winning are not very good, Pathlights goes on to say that gambling causes many other problems that are destroying America. Compulsive gamblers are likely to have been married three or more times because of the problems gambling brings home to the household. The suicide rate for spouses of compulsive gamblers is one hundred fifty times higher than the national average. It is estimated that the average compulsive gambler affects four to ten other people, especially the children. Twenty five percent of compulsive gambler s kids show behavioral or adjustment problems in school, use alcohol and other drugs, or are arrested (PATHLIGHTS). Pathlights makes a strong argument defying gambling. Gambling seems to be an impossible way to earn money and the money spent at casinos could be used for programs that are clearly more important. Also, gambling is a downfall to society. It causes family problems and affects the children of gamblers. Is there really a positive side to gambling? • 34. Racial Disparity Essay Topics The debate on whether or not racial disparity is an issue in the United States is very popular. On one side, are the people saying that racial disparity is an issue and that police are the main culprits; on the other, are the people who say that police do not racially profile people and that racial disparity is not an issue. While both sides have their differences, they also have some similarities. For example, both viewpoints deal with racial disparity. On top of that, both are using policedata and official statistics to prove their points. Those two points are the only two spots where both sides overlap. The differences between the two chapters are more evident. In chapter fifteen, it is said that the percentage of black drivers being pulled over for traffic stops is disproportionate because police are racially profiling the drivers; but in chapter sixteen, it is said that police are not profiling minority drivers, they are simply stopping people most likely to be criminals. It is also stated in chapter sixteen that the population of Richmond is mostly African Americans, and so the statistics are not disproportionate. Another point brought up in chapter fifteen that was not mentioned in chapter sixteen, is the concern of officers not reporting the correct information for each stop. It is necessary first to discuss the roles of unions and management in the workplace and discuss both points of view on the power distribution between unions and managementin the workplace. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, the unitarist management views trade/Labor unions and government mandated Labor standards as unnecessary. If management is applying effective policies and has good communication with its employees then conflict will not be an issue, hence conflict is seen as a result of poor management. Management with this frame of reference tend to be against unions and government intervention hence will not want unions in their workplace. However, many manager and employees tend to see their workplace or firms in unitary term and are happy with their situations. So in order to avoid conflict management will provide a better working environment, decent wages and work flexibility. However, this perspective is market based because if the company with these frame of reference have goals that are not met, maximisation of profit, then they will tend to cut cost in order to meet this goal. This will lead to several cuts in the workplace such as bonuses, paid leaves and so on. The pluralist frame of reference in management is a complete opposite of unitarist view in terms of unions. Ethnic Differences Between The United Kingdom And America Throughout this paper I will focus on data from the United Kingdom and America and focus solely on the disadvantages that ethnic minority groups endure which effect their health status. In doing this, I will highlight several explanations put forth by social scientists, such as cultural, socioeconomic and racial approaches whilst incorporating different literature, such as the works of Bartley (2004), Nettleton (2013) and Nazroo (1997). Before exploring the many explanations that social scientists offer to explain the ethnic differences in health status, it is important to acknowledge that gathering data on racial or ethnic minorities is extremely problematic. This is because there are not any universally agreed definitions of ethnic or racial groups and definitions change over time (Aspinall, 2002). Such problems of the lack of conceptual clarification stem from whether researchers presume that raceand ethnicity are a biological or a social characteristic. To overcome this problem, throughout this paper, I will use the term racial or ethnic minority to refer to any group of people who are exposed to unfavourable treatment because of their national origins, shared social histories, or religion as outlined in the works of Bartley (2004: 151). Until recent years there has not been a huge amount of literature exploring the patterns between ethnicity and health status. Intelligence professionals seek to leverage the GEOINT capabilities at their disposal to satisfy validated requirements in the most efficient manner possible due to the high demand, low density nature of ISR GEOINT assets. With the number of validated collection requirements surpassing the collection capacity available to collection managers there must be an effective manner of evaluating the GEOINT collection strategy to ensure the greatest amount of GEOINT is collected to satisfy a Joint Force Commander s (JFC) Priority Intelligence Requirements (PIR). This imbalance between the amount of collection that is needed and the capacity available to acquire and exploit the images drives home the necessity for a GEOINT collection strategy that incorporates a method for measuring its effectiveness of satisfying requirements throughout the execution cycle of collection operations. • 43. The Balance Of Power Theory Balance of power theory represents a body of interrelated concepts for achieving security and stability by maintaining an equal distribution of power throughout the international system. Some critics contend that the theory cannot provide guidance to states in a unipolar system since it developed out of centuries of multipolarity and decades of bipolarity. This assessment is incorrect. Although a specific conception of balance of power theory may not provide guidance, an appraisal of the concepts within its various forms suggests continuing relevance. This paper discusses balance of power theory by examining the evolution of its structural and ideational variants, and asserts that the concept remains relevant in a unipolar international system. The balance of power is a historical concept with a variety of meanings. In Thucydides account of the Melian dialogue, he indirectly refers to countries balancing in response to growing Athenian power and aggression (Thucydides, 1972). Over 1200 years later, Hobbes described balancing in reference to the ability of a confederacy of the weak to overwhelm the strong (Hobbes, 1996). Both Thucydides and Hobbes reference a type of balancing aimed at reestablishing an equilibrium of power within the international system. Gulick refers to this behavior by states as a doctrine of counterpoise, designed to ensure the survival of individual states and to prevent a state from accruing predominant power (Gulick, 1955). When the Arctic tern enters the southern hemisphere, summer starts over and temperatures stay mild and within the tern s range of tolerance. Most Arctic terns spend the first month of their migration in the north Atlantic ocean eating and collecting energy for the long trip ahead. Some migrations have been over 44,000 miles long round trip, with the birds rarely stopping for rest and food. The specific reason these animals migrate so far is widely unknown, although it is assumed for survival or breeding purposes. Some scientists suggest that it s because of the rich [polar] feeding grounds that they travel so far. If the migrations performed by this organism were to stop, the population would decrease rapidly because the temperatures in either one of their habitats will drop so low that they will be outside the Arctic tern s limits of tolerance and the birds would freeze to death. Arctic terns also provide a great source of pest control when they eat insects and worms during their migrations. This would then be lost if the Arctic tern stopped migrating. The Arctic tern has an annual mortality rate of 18%, according to a study in the Farne Islands. The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and glory for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento were made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. The conditions of growing industry of the Risorgimento had caused the growth of the socialist movement, which then helped Mussolini gain power due to his anti communist beliefs.
