• Do you look for problems or do you find solutions?

If YOU have a negative attitude at work it can mean you will:-
• Cause problems with work-mates
• Break an employer’s confidence in you
• Upset and de-motivate colleagues and work-mates
• Waste time
• Lose focus and concentration
• Miss targets and objectives

If you have a positive attitude you are more likely to:-
• Lead by example
• Motivate and support colleagues with a positive word
• Be of a sunny and friendly disposition
• Know that there is an answer to every problem
• Work through difficult situations
• Never give up
• Enjoy the unexpected, even if it’s not what you had anticipated
• Use the subtlety of a smile to lighten the tone of a situation

Some people say that negative people think a glass is half empty
Whilst positive people think a glass is half full
From another perspective… both are missing the point
The glass is refillable
Please keep in mind

If getting back up after being knocked down is being positive, then, it would seem to
me that the majority of us are born with positive natures.
After all when we were learning to walk we fell down, many, many times but even
though we may have had cuts and bruises, we just got up again and kept trying.
The same applied when we were learning to talk. We don’t know how we managed
it… but after subconsciously listening to words for much of our very young lives, we
started talking!
Many of the activities we do today we have learned to do through repetition. Think
about how well you walk and talk these days. You don’t even think about it very much
any more.
Learning those few very basic skills was almost an automatic process!

• And learning new skills today is not so very different. Except that many of you have
lost your belief in self.
• You have not lost the ability to learn new things; you have lost the ability to believe
you can learn new things
• As we grow older, many people are of the belief that learning get harder. It doesn’t.
It is this belief that makes it grow harder.
• Come on this journey through time with me, back to the time before you could walk
or talk.
• You didn’t know you could learn then either, did you, yet you did and how did you
learn, you learned everything though repetition, through trial and error!

Motivation – what’s it all about!
Well… though you probably won’t remember it. If you go back to that very first step
you made when learning to walk one, both or all of your parents/guardians would
have, more than likely, made such pleasing noises that, even although you didn’t
understand what they were saying you understood the positive energy they were
emitting and that spurred you on.
When you are self motivated and enthusiastic you become a source of energy that
lifts and inspires those around you.
Show appreciation and make people feel like they are valued.
Be happy for someone or everyone else’s success.

• Think about what motivates you
• Do you have a family to feed
• Do you want a particular kind of car
• A particular house
• Holidays
Draw a map and stick pictures of what you want on it. Then focus and work towards
your goals!

How do you portray a positive attitude?
• Do things willingly
• Smile enthusiastically and stay focused
• Pay people complements
• Let people know when they have done a great job.
• Make someone’s day special
• If complaining’s a waste of time, work your way round things
• Don’t let gossip and other people bring you down
• Keep calm, look diversity in the eye and …. Laugh….

  • 6. If getting back up after being knocked down is being positive, then, it would seem to me that the majority of us are born with positive natures. After all when we were learning to walk we fell down, many, many times but even though we may have had cuts and bruises, we just got up again and kept trying. The same applied when we were learning to talk. We don’t know how we managed it… but after subconsciously listening to words for much of our very young lives, we started talking! Many of the activities we do today we have learned to do through repetition. Think about how well you walk and talk these days. You don’t even think about it very much any more. Learning those few very basic skills was almost an automatic process! Except that many of you have lost your belief in self. • You have not lost the ability to learn new things; you have lost the ability to believe you can learn new things • As we grow older, many people are of the belief that learning get harder. It doesn’t.   • 8. Motivation – what’s it all about! Well… though you probably won’t remember it. If you go back to that very first step you made when learning to walk one, both or all of your parents/guardians would have, more than likely, made such pleasing noises that, even although you didn’t understand what they were saying you understood the positive energy they were emitting and that spurred you on. When you are self motivated and enthusiastic you become a source of energy that lifts and inspires those around you. Show appreciation and make people feel like they are valued.
