When we sit, our brains become leaden. But when we walk, our hearts pump faster
and our brains and other organs get more blood and oxygen. Scientists have shown
this helps our memories work better and improves our attention.
The gentle exercise of walking also leads to new connections between brain cells,
holding at bay the usual decline of brain tissue that comes with age. Even as my hair
turns grey, I m glad to know that I don t have to listen to contemporary music to keep

Proper patient identification in hospitals has been an issue for many years,
especially when it comes to blood specimen collection. Laboratory specimens being
mislabeled are a everyday cause of harm to patients including repeat diagnostic
procedures; repeat phlebotomy; delays in necessary surgical procedures; a
performing unnecessary surgical procedures (Dunn and Moga, 2010). This is not
only costly, but it is very stressing to patients and medical staff. The biggest concern
is the possibility of making a fatal error when it comes to specimen collection.
Without proper patient identification this risk increases substantially. Wallin,
Sodberg, Van Guelpen, Stenlund, Grankvist, and Brulin (2009) state that critical
errors in patient identification for blood testing occurs in up to one per 1000
specimens or procedures and misidentified specimens cause 160,000 adverse events
every year in America.
Bar coding has been introduced into many hospitals in the last several years. Using
bar codes on patients ID bracelets and labels for specimens has been the normal
practice for Saint Francis Hospital for some time. However, the labels aren t used as

Literary Analysis Of The Storm
In every society there are expectations placed on people to act certain ways and do
certain things. The Storm, by Kate Chopin, sheds light on the negative consequences
of societal expectations, social inequality, and intentionally contradicts common
gender roles. The story is centered around the complex relationship between a Cajun
woman and a Creole man. These two groups equate to the lower class and the middle
/upper class respectively. The mixing of these two groups is frowned upon, and each
group comes with different expectations. Kate Chopinuses these expectations and
proves just how disastrous they can be. The antagonist in this story is the storm itself.
The storm, in this case a threatening cyclone, represents everything that is
problematic with implementing such strict expectations onto people. The concluding
line seen above, is representative of the contradictions between the storm and these
roles and expectations. Considering all that occurs between the characters during the
storm, the notion that everyone ends up happy is contradictory to what people are
told is expected of them. The driving force in all of this happiness is the mixing of
the two groups, which is essentially a storm itself and would be condemned if
anybody were to find out exactly what happened.
The story opens with BobinГґt and his son Bibi, both Cajun, as they realize the storm
is approaching. They decide to stay put and wait it out. Bibi is concerned that his
mother, Calixta, is going to be afraid. BobinГґt reassures his young son and
purchases some shrimp for Calixta because she is very fond of them. This is the first
time Chopin challenges gender roles in this story. In most cultures it is commonplace
for the mother to take care of the children, but it is clear that BobinГґt plays a central
role in his child s life. BobinГґt is accustomed to converse on terms of perfect

Bibi is out shopping with his father, yet another domestic responsibility usually

When I was a little girl, I was always eager to go to the zoo where I could get up
close with hundreds of beautiful animals. I had heard many interesting stories of
animal lives and how hard they had to fight in the wildlife to survive. The zoo, in
my eyes, was a wonderful place where animals were rescued and taken care of. It
was much more interesting when I figured out animals could do several things like
monkeys could drive bicycles, and dolphins could dance in the water. However,

in its price. But, a German chemist, Johann Friedrich Willhelm Adolf von Baeyer,
developed a cheaper alternative method by making synthetic indigo. He started
working with indigo in 1865. His work resulted in the first chemical synthesis of
indigo, in 1880. And then, three years later, he announced the chemical structure of
synthetic indigo. He then sold this invention to BASF (Badische Anilin und Soda
Fabrik), an international chemical company, for $100,000. Synthetic indigo, by
