You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I m not the
same person that I was. I guess you could say it s part of growing up. It never really was intentional
but it s just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different.
First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don t personally like to write for
leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being
able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my
attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I
write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better
explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because
the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is
subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP
english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing
involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to
write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a

Most fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal are considered nonrenewable resources in that their
use is not sustainable because their formation takes billions of years (Investopedia, 2014). As the
nonrenewable resources become more and more scarce, the cost to obtain them will continue to
gradually rise (Investopedia, 2014). Eventually, the price will become so high that users will no longer
be able to afford them, forcing the change from fossil fuels to alternative energy sources

used again in the process (Duke Energy). The next alternative energy source to be discussed is Solar
Energy. Solar power is energy from the sun, which is converted into thermal or electrical energy
(Solar Energy). Solar energy is also the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy source
available, and the United States has some of the richest solar resources in the world (Solar Energy).
Technology now days can use this solar energy for several different uses, including generating
electricity, providing light, and heating water for all uses (Solar Energy). There are several ways to
harness the solar energy: photovoltaics also called solar electric, solar heating and cooling,
concentrating solar power, and passive solar (Solar Energy). The first three ways are called active
solar systems, which use mechanical or electrical devices that convert the sun s heat or light to another
form of usable energy (Solar Energy). Passive solar on the other hand are buildings designed and

1. Primary Qualitative Research
1.1 Methodology
The qualitative research for this project included both focus group and in depth interviews. All
participants were females since that is the demographic towards which Rocco is catered and included
both some of its existing and potential consumers. Each focus group and set of interviews was divided
according to four different age segments: those under 20 years old, those in their twenties, those in

They generally preferred stylish, funky, and usually colourful products and identified quality as an
unimportant factor when it comes to making a purchase decision. These respondents requested to be
interviewed together, which proved to be favourable since it made them more comfortable and
allowed for more thorough responses.
The second interview (Please see Appendix G) consisted of one individual, also of 16 years of age,
who was a Canadian high school student. She resided in Cote St Luc. Like the previous interviewees,
she also described herself as being price conscious since her purchases are paid with her own money.
Unlike the other 16 years old respondents however, quality was of higher importance for her when it
came to shopping for clothes. She was also generally looking for trendy and fashion forward clothing
when she shopped.
The third interview (Please see Appendix H) was held with two Montréal teachers, one of 33 years old
and the other of 38 years old. Both were mothers; while the former had one child, the latter had four.
Both women had preferences for classic clothing that is slightly trendy, and both wanted good quality
for good prices. They also tended to look for sales and convenience when shopping was of very high
importance for them.
