The Pros And Cons Of Life
In Aurora, Colorado, there's a publishing place in the town square. In front of the publishing place is I, Phil DeVille. I'm wearing a brown suit, gray
pants, a white shirt and a red tie. I look like Simon, Rookie's dad. Anyways, four applications have been submitted. Colin Morrison is 37 and is from
Albuquerque. Sydney Rivera is 40 and is from Baltimore. Jayla Ochoa is 41 and is from Little Rock. Anna Silver is 45 and is from Indianapolis.
Returning back to my house in Aurora, I knew that it was important. However, I didn't know life couldn't be even worse. Kira made me and Lil live
in separate rooms. Our old house was fine until we had to move to another house. The reason is that my old room got burned. Kira said, "Tommy,

school! That's it! I will be calling Baylee!" She picked up the phone and asked, "Hello, is this Baylee Barradas?" Baylee said, "Yes it is." Mrs. Kelly
said, "This is Mrs. Kelly speaking and I think Phil used a clone machine to make a clone of himself so that he can skip school!" Baylee said, "Kira
should have known that it was a cloning machine! He has to sing with me! I will contact the nearest person to take him to me!" Mrs. Kelly said,
"Please sing with him when you see him! Thanks and good–bye!" The voice said, "New York Penn Station. Everybody off." I walked off the train
and then took a subway to 42nd Street. Even though I was saved after Cold Sherman caught me not in school, it didn't end well after Hino

It's Phil! Your teacher called me and told you that you were supposed to be in school! That's it! I'm taking you to..." "Jacoby!" he heard a voice. Paul

Compare And Contrast Lorax Book And Movie
I think the movie is better than the book because it's more visual, has more action, and has props. In the movies, it's more visual so you can actually
see what's going on. For example, The video clip of the Lorax, you can see all the characters acting and moving around. Also cooperating. You can
also tell by watching the Lorax that at the beginning mood was happy and the ending was depressing. Finally, you could also visualize the bright
forest full of truffla trees. Next, in the movie, it has more action. Characters are moving around and also cooperating. There's also lighting. In the
Lorax clip, it shows the characters running away when the super ax–hacker cuts down the trees. In the Alice in Wonderland clip, it showed a lot of

Compare And Contrast A Christmas Carol
In the book a Christmas carol there is a boy named Fred who is Ebenezer scrooge's nephew and there are many differences to him from another
version of a christmas carol which is a movie made by the muppets so here i will state the differences The first instant is in the book he was just a
nice helpful person inviting scrooge in for a holiday party and in the movie he was more of a motivational speaker and also the movie version of
Fred was pretty young and in the book he sounds quite middle age maybe in his early 30's and the movie fred looks like he was 21 to 25 but besides
the point of him being young he was married and he loved speaking about it to Scrooge personally I don't remember him talking about him being
married but that might just

Hollywood And The Lack Of Culture In Hollywood
This country has been described as a "melting pot" of different ethnicities. To put it into statistics, the United States' population in 2014 accounted
37.9 percent minority. No matter who they are, people come together to enjoy whatever Hollywood has produced; whether it's cinematic
masterpieces or tasteful television productions. In fact, 46 percent of all movie tickets sold in the United States were purchased by people of color in
that year (Hunt et al). They would all come together to watch a movie that hopefully would be able to showcase what America looked like today;
however, they would be faced with disappointment. The lack of representation is apparent as people gaze upon the silver screen. After a study by the
Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies, where they examined 163 films, it is revealed that 12.9 percent of the lead roles were claimed
by minorities. The study reports that it's a decline from the 16.7 percent in comparison to the year prior. Furthermore, it's not just the silver screen
where diversity lacks– television is another victim. In cable scripted television shows, white actors had 78 percent of the 1120 roles, observed by the
same study, while minorities accounted for 22 percent in the 2013–2014 season. With many wonders as to why the lack of diversity is prevalent, it
still happens and Hollywood isn't hosting a fair playing field between actors in the majority and minority. If and when Hollywood uses diverse actors

The Labyrinth Hero's Journey
Labyrinth is an adventure musical fantasy film about a young girl's journey to rescue her baby brother. Jennifer Connelly plays Sarah Williams, a
young girl with an active imagination stuck in the twilight time of a girl becoming a woman. Trapped at home while her brother, Toby, cries
endlessly, Sarah says, "I wish the goblins would take you away right now." To her astonishment, David Bowie's character, Goblin King Jareth, grants
her wish and whisks the babe away to his magical realm. Sarah immediately regrets what was said but can not take it back. Jareth makes a deal with
Sarah. If she solves the labyrinth in 13 hours, then she may have her brother back. If she fails to reach the goblin castle and win her brother back

According to Roger Ebert, 'nightmare' movies such as the Labyrinth are not as suspenseful as they should be. These movies do not follow any rules
or logic. Anything can occur, nothing has to happen, rules continuously change, and nothing is as it seems. He believes we are wasting energy
caring: "Consider, for example, the scene in Labyrinth where Sarah thinks she is waking up from her horrible dream and opens the door of her
bedroom. Anything could be outside that door." He also believes the Muppet idea works better when humans visit the Muppet world as in the
Muppet Movies rather than when Muppets appear the human world. He states another problem with the film is its length. Ebert argues that without a
strong plot to carry us through the movie, movies like this are endanger of becoming just a series of incidents: "There's no structure to the order of
the adventures. Sarah does this, she does that, she's almost killed here, almost trapped there, until at last nothing much

Why Should You Eat For Lunch? Essay
Deciding what to eat for lunch, debating which extracurricular activities to join and making friends are typically common things you think of when
thinking about school. In most cases when one thinks of school they think of making friends, having fun, learning and gaining independency, and
ultimately getting out alive. My experience with school was not the best. Feeling like I never fit in always seemed to take place over my studies.
Here is what I have learned. Learning to start what I finished was one of the first lessons learned that I can remember. When I was around 7 years old
we lived next door to an elderly couple. The wife used to be the girl scout's leader of my troop. I don't think they had family around so I would hang
out with them often. Mr. Bradley would work endlessly in his garage on puzzles. He had tons of them stacked on a shelf in the garage and we always
worked on them together. When it seemed we were working too long and not making any progress I always suggested we put it away and start on a
new one. Mr. Bradley never allowed it, he always said we need to finish what we started. It could be anything from as small as finishing my chores,
homework or as big as finishing out something we learned in girl scouts. I remember I didn't see their garage up for a while so I knocked on the
door. Mrs. Bradley's sister answered and said they were in the hospital because Mr. Bradley had a procedure done. I told her sister how we worked

Freaks And Geeks Analysis
TV–Ugly All an actor seeks is work, and one will often take any work he can get. For the unfortunates with passion in their not–perfectly–
symmetrical eyes, that work may be playing "Creepy Dude #5" and "Fat Girl at Party" from their introduction into the business until their decision to
quit it. Fortunately for these unconventional faces and body types, there is an ally behind the desk keeping an eye out more for talent than for allure.
Allison Jones, the casting genius behind such comedy projects as "Freaks and Geeks," "The Office," and "Parks and Recreation," makes it her
business to hire real, funny actors to fill real, funny roles. She is not afraid to hire someone funny looking if he/she will get the job done. The
question is not whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the web series, Jones cast an actress recommended by the creator who was both "really good, and beautiful." If it is important for a character to
look a certain way, by no means will Jones try to inhibit the process and cast someone ugly for the fun of it. Her job is to cast the right person.
Naturally, a character like Lindsay Bluth (from Arrested Development, another of Jones' shows), whose attractiveness is her currency in life, will be
played by a beautiful woman (Portia de Rossi). Chris Traeger, a health nut from Parks and Recreation determined to look 20 years younger than his
age, is played by the very conventionally attractive Rob Lowe. But when a character is goofy in a real sort of way, like Martin Starr's Bill
Haverchuck from Freaks and Geeks, it helps to have someone who looks right rather than

Jim Henson Jim Henson once said, "Follow your enthusiasm. It's something I've always believed in. Find those parts of your life you enjoy the most.

of the Muppets, Henson is known worldwide for his creations, which include shows like Sesame Street and The Muppet Show, and characters such
as Grover, Elmo, Big Bird, the Swedish Chef, Bert and Ernie, and Miss Piggy to name a few. Jim's most famous character was Kermit the Frog.

Saturday morning children's show. Although he had very little experience with puppets, he decided to audition. Jim and a friend made a couple of
hand puppets and got the job. The show was called The Junior Good Morning Show. Jim was only seventeen years old when the show began. The
show was cancelled after three weeks on the air (St. Pierre 22–29). After the show was cancelled, Jim began college. He attended the University of
Maryland. He took studio art classes because he wanted to be a commercial artist. One of the classes he took was a puppetry class. The class taught
Jim many skills that he used to create of his characters. He excelled in the class and began helping many classmates with their work (Andres).
Jim was not deterred after The Junior Good Morning Show was canceled. He remained persistent and soon got a job at the local NBC affiliate,

Informative Essay About Disneyland
Annie Ngiam Claremont High School 9/9/17 Have you ever thought you understood something? Until you dig a little deeper and realize something
has always been there right in front of your face and never realized it? Like little inside jokes and playing tri blue from where you started. I had a
party in my backyard with a few close friends, singing to K–pop, or Korean music. My Korean friend proceeded to laugh when someone was trying
to sing a song lyric in Korean, or at least her version of the song. The translation to what my friend was singing was "Cats and almonds and I'm
going to eat your face, two very different lines then the song lyrics themselves. Our new inside joke is "Cats and Almonds" However in cinema and
amusement parks, we call these 'inside jokes' "easter eggs". Whether they were created because of a challenge, or simply a memorial to remember
where the creators started from, these inside jokes can be found everywhere in Disney. First, we will be revealing the easter eggs important to the
people behind the magic. Second, we will find the secret meaning of the, oh I can't find it... hidden mickeys and finally the movie connection easter
eggs that have sparked many Disney theories. Have you ever thought about where Disneyland is? The address is conveniently 1313 Disneyland Dr,
Anaheim. Sure, 1313 is a rather strange number for an address, but is there something behind the numbers? M is the 13th letter of the English
alphabet, meaning 1313 is two M's. What do

addresses ideas such as racism, sexuality, poverty and even pornography.Avenue Q addresses these ideas through song numbers, making it a musical.

Theatre. Since the success of the show it has been performed all across the world by professional and amature audiences.

10 Christmas Movies that Won't Turn you Into a Grinch or Scrooge
Hundreds of Christmas movies have been made since the invention of motion pictures and are still being made to this day. There are only a few that
are considered "Classics". What I consider classics are the movies that families pull out every year to watch during the Christmas season. If you
prefer more recently made movies, there are many great movies that made it onto my list from the 90s and 2000s. These are some of my favorite
holiday movies that I watched every year since I could understand the English language and that I still thoroughly enjoy today.
#10 A Christmas Carol (2009)– This Disney animated movie is the newest version of the 1938 movie, A Christmas Carol. The famous actor, Jim
Carrey, voices Ebenezer Scrooge. Disney did a perfect job of following the original storyline with Scrooge, the three ghosts, and all the other actors.
This very exciting film is also very popular in 3D. Because this film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, it is a fantastic remake of an old, loved, holiday
classic, yet some people still prefer the 1984 version.
#9 A Christmas Carol (1984)– This Christmas movie is a version of Charles Dickens's famous 1800s play and book, A Christmas Carol. This movie
is one of the most accurate movies based on the play and book, and never gets boring, because it of the action with all the ghosts. Because of this, I
consider this movie to be the original version although I know it

The exposure to mental health influences how a child continues to perceive and act towards people with mental disabilities. Different depictions can
define how society views the mentally disabled and how these people are respected, in general. Positive Representation Positive representation is
usually obvious and the mentally disabled character or characters could be easily identifiable when compared to others. However, this portrayal
causes the character to be unique and teaches children on how to kindly interact with others with mental issues. For example, the newly introduced

Three Symbols In The Dumpster
I've been good friends with my partner, Lauren Lester, for a while now, but our most recent assignment together, aptly named three symbols in a bag,
has opened my eyes to some interesting revelations about her. While not very in depth, I've learned more about her and her family than she may
realize. My partner bestowed upon me a Kermit amiibo–type–figurine, an art marker, and a lady bug plushy, with simple explanations as to their
significance, but I took it much deeper, each item telling a story of its own. The first item Lauren pulled out of her bag was her Muppet propaganda,
the Kermit amiibo. From my past experiences with her love for Pepe and other repulsive memes, I figured it was meant to represent her obsession
with frog like monstrosities, but was fortunately disproven. She provided me with a brief explanation of how she, like many American children,
grew up watching the Muppets. Her love for the character built upon years worth of childhood memories as she got older, the timeless characters still
present today. I however, couldn't really sympathize with her adoration for the stuffed amphibian as I didn't grow up like most kids, watching old
timely horror movies and letting Frankenstein fuel my young curiosities. At 13 years old I've actually only seen one Muppets movie. ... Show more

A Battle Of Endings By James Cameron
Sundiata Short Essay Andrew Davis Professor Benander Topics in Literature 4 November 2012 A Battle of Endings It is widely believed that the
ending makes the story. What would Titanic, the movie by James Cameron, be without its ending? In the epics of Kirikou and Sundiata, we see two
distinctly different endings that would cause different responses from different audiences. The Treatment of the villain is significant in the end
because it brings into question the judgment of the hero. Examining how others respond to the shadow is important because it allows people to
examine what they would do to treat the shadow who wronged others. A modern teenage Disney audience would be more satisfied with the
treatment Sundiata gave to his enemies, because Sundiata tries his best to satisfy the people who were affected by the rule of the shadow. Sundiata's
treatment of the enemies should be established before getting into the argument. Sundiata just wants the shadow out of the way of the goal of the
conquering Mali, but he tries to please his people, the maiden, in serving justice to the Shadow. Some may argue that Sundiata really wanted to kill
Soumaoro because of the treachery he brought upon Mali. However, Sundiata proves that defeating Mali is more important than killing the shadow
when the book by D.T. Niane of the Longman African Writers states, "Straight away the son of Sogolon sent some of them towards the river to
completely guard the mountain" (67), notice he did not

Gender Stereotypes In Disney Movies
Disney has created a name for itself that envelops the very idea of "magic". You can see this media moguls influence in its own TV network, its huge
catalog of movies, and the reach of the companies that have been bought by the corporation. The toys Disney sells to further their reach also play a
major role in the company's influence. Disney has a grip on most of worlds entertainment, but how has that affected the society we live in and the
roles we decide to play? The Disney Store– When I first walked into the Disney Store, I saw an obvious divide of gender. There were no signs
labeling one side "Girls" and the other "Boys" but there was no question of which side children were guided towards. On one side of the store is
princesses, dolls, and magic wands. The other side ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem lies with Disney as a media mogul targeting children throughout most of their lives through TV, movies, and commercials. This is not a
new idea. Parents and scholars alike have taken notice over the last few decades about how Disney targets young children. In a study about gender
roles and Disney princesses, the researchers discuss the different characteristics given to male and female characters in Disney's princess movies.
They found that the males in these movies were portrayed at strong, unemotional, and independent. The females in the movies were portrayed as
meek, submissive, and affectionate. (1) The unequal portrayal of genders does not just lie with Disney's movie empire. There are similar issues in
their own TV shows and the commercials they produce. In this study of TV commercials advertising toys, the researchers found that, "The
advertisements for children's toys encourage message types that tell girls to nurture their beauty and boys to concentrate on their power and
strength." (2) This is a theme that can be found throughout Disney's marketing. Disney's Hold on

Elton's album came out becoming a #1 hit on the charts for at least two months. Before Reginald changes his name to Elton, he joined a band called
Bluesology. In 1966, the bands' name changed to Long John Baldry's. Reginald left the band because of the way Baldry controlled the band. He went
on to an audition, which he failed. Although he failed the audition, he was given lyrics that were from Bernie Taupin. Dwight wrote music for the

The reason it changed is because Elton asked Bernie to and he saw no reason not to. "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" was based on childhood events
of Taupin, which consisted of the first movie he saw, The Wizard of Oz and growing up. Bernie wrote most of his songs about Elton but this
particular song is about him. The song was rumored to be about Judy Garland seeing that she starred in the Wizard of Oz and the album art
represents the Wizard of Oz. However, it was actually about "Elton's fame and fortune and to contrast of Bernie's attempts to remain "low–key"
while Elton's was be extravagant." "Bennie and The Jets" is about a fictional band. Bennie is suppose to be a female character. Even though the song
has no substantial meaning it turned into one of the top hits in the album. The music for this song was to represent 'glam rock'. The lyrics originated
from movies, comic books, and a German photographer, Helmut Newton. The song was a hit on R&B chart. Elton was proud of making the chart
due to that fact that he was influenced by many African American musicians. Since the song has no meaning, Elton was shocked it became #1.
Elton's producer, Gus Dudgeon, added crowd noise from the Royal Festival Hall show to add a "live feeling" to the song. In addition, whistles were
included from a concert in Vancouver. In 1997, Elton played the song on the The Muppets Show. While playing

animations films to diversify into all aspects of the entertainment industry, primarily focusing on all interests of the typical American family. The

With success upon success granted to the company, Disney decided to work towards creating its first feature film. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
premiered December 21st, 1937, marking the beginning of an almost 100 year saga of films that the corporation is well known for today. Over the
next several years, Disney continued to produce films and animation, including some relating to World War II propaganda. In the 50's, Walt Disney
Productions teamed up with Coca Cola to premiere its first television show; Disneyland. That following year, the first disney park, Disneyland,
opened in Anaheim, California. As the company has grown larger and larger, more products have been added to its bandwidth, including a chain of
retail stores, its own television channel, international amusement parks, Broadway shows, videogames/toys, and cruise lines.
The Walt Disney Company has gone through many mergers during its long history. One of the first was the company's acquisition of the Capital
Cities/American Broadcasting Company, which is the 2nd largest corporate takeover to date. This horizontal merger served as not only a distribution
service, but also as extra capital through the pre–existing channels of ESPN and ABC Family. Many of the

Jim Henson Research Paper
Jim Henson's career began early, when he was only sixteen years of age. Henson began to put his mind to the limit in 1952, when he auditioned for a
spot on the local television. He got a spot and began using some home–made puppets–his most famous of the time being Longhorn, Shorthorn, and
Pierre The French Rat. Even though he used puppets it wasn't until much later that he began to use his voice on television. In this first appearance of
Henson's puppets, it was just the puppets "mouthing" the words to popular songs at the time, wether it be La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf or Tenderly
by Rosemary Clooney. Even still it was a hit with the local audience. The next step for young Henson was college and at eighteen he left home to the
University of Maryland where he originally went for commercial art but came out with a degree in Puppetry from the College of Home Economics.

Quentin Tarantino's Use Of Pastiche In The Film Pulp Fiction
Pastiche is a technique used in artistic works that is constructed from borrowing various elements from other texts. The strategy of pastiche is
present in the film "Pulp Fiction" (1994) by Quentin Tarantino and the artistic photographic series 'Living in Hell and Other Stories' by Tom Hunter.
Through these artworks the audience is able to identify a range of textual works that imitate the style or character of particular artwork, film or
literature. Pastiche derives from the late nineteenth century word 'pasticcio'. This French and Italian word means a pie filled with a variety of
ingredients. Similarly, a pastiche is a reference from multiple sources. It is an example of eclecticism or intertextuality in art. The meaning of the text
is enhanced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pastiche used in film is generally incorporated to create a nostalgic tone. However this is not the case with 'Pulp Fiction' as the strategy is used to
pay homage and show appreciation towards 1950's pulp fiction texts and influential films. Tarantino alludes to various aspects, techniques and
scenes from other Hollywood movies into his own. Tarantino stated, "I always hope that if one million people see my movie, they see one million
different movies" . Elements from Hollywood movies such as weapons, costumes, camera angles, themes and famous scenes are injected into 'Pulp
Fiction'. His film blurs the line between cinematic styles and genres. Intertextuality is a significant factor within Tarantino's work, as by reinventing
the old he is able to preserve originality and create a sense of dimension within his work. Tarantino refers to 'Pulp Fiction' not as a movie but as
multiple movies. An example of pastiche within the film is present in the scene in which Marcellus Wallace coincidentally recognises Butch in his
car while walking across the street. This action mimics the scene from Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" where Marion's boss recognises her as he crosses
at traffic lights. Through this pastiche Tarantino is able to show his appreciation and influence of Hitchcock's infamous films while also applying the
scene in a postmodern context. Another occurrence of pastiche appears in Butches weapon of choice; a baseball bat and chainsaw. These weapons of
choice pay homage to the films 'Walking Tall' and 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'

A Christmas Carol: Compare And Contrast
The film, "A Christmas Carol" seems to have more film adaptations than other plays in the English language. The live actors and the Muppet have
interpreted the book since 1901. A person who has watched this film over the holidays and around Christmas is likely to comprehend this story
easily. "The Christmas Carol," 1951 movie has been the best–interpreted movie and for this reason, it has been successful compared to the play.
After watching the film, I have to admit that the play and the SCUF adaptation have not been successful as the movie "A Christmas Carol," in 1951.
In this essay, I will compare the book versus the film to show that the adaptation of the play has not succeeded much as the film.
Unlike the play, the fascinating aspects of Scrooged in my minds remain to be the presentation of "A Christmas Carol," which the adopted plays
have failed to include. The movie has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a technical ghost story. Many adopted versions of the play tend to tone down this important aspect of the play. They fail to fit in the joyous vibe
of the Christmas special. The primary reason for writing "A Christmas Carol" was to draw attention to the problems, which the lower classes
underwent. The author sympathized with them. In most of the adopted version of the play, this primary reason starts to drift gradually. Compared to
the movie this reason is still intact. The consistent interpretation of the character of Scrooge is that he is the symbol of cruelty that is the rule of the
lower class by the aristocracy. The reason I believe that the adapted play and movie have never succeeded much as the film is that the movie has
made the character of the scrooge to be more sympathetic in smaller ways than in most of the play versions. It is the sole version that shows the fan
side of Scrooge as she is dying and finally hears her ask him to be watching over the little son she leaves

The Dark Crystal Film Analysis

Muppet Magic
February 23, 2010
The Dark Crystal Film Analysis Making its debut 1982, The Dark Crystal, created and directed by puppeteers Jim Henson and Frank Oz, was a
fantasy film that involved intricate puppeteers and animatronics. Aside from The Muppets and Sesame Street, which involves more comedic skits to
relay their message to its viewers, The Dark Crystal was a different kind of muppet movie because it used fantasy, fiction and action to tell its story.
With this change in Jim Henson's usual way of story telling, the fantasy aspect of the movie becomes associated with the narrative patterns and
functions of Propp. As the story line progresses throughout the film, some of the 31 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in the film, both Jen and Kira arrive at the Castle of the Crystal but is encountered by Chamberlain again. This is significant because although
Chamberlain attempts to deceive them again, he ends up capturing Kira, forcing Jen and Chamberlain to "join in direct combat", exhibiting the
sixteenth function of Propp. This demonstrates an aspect of one of the struggles a hero has to face in his or her journey. As Jen attempts to rescue
Kira, he finds the location of the "dark crystal", bring him one step closer in achieving his quest. The final challenge is presented when Jen is on top
of the "dark crystal" and after a failed attempt, resulting in the death of Kira, Jen succeeds in the end by uniting the shard with the "dark crystal"
fulfilling the prophecy and restoring the planet to its previous state. Thus showing the final function of Propp: resolution of the task. All these
functions create the structure of Henson's fantasy movie and helps tell a story that keeps its viewers wanting to know what is going to happen next.
With Henson using these narrative patterns and intricately designed puppets to tell a story to children, it provides a change from laughter and
comedy to something filled with excitement and suspense. In doing so, it gives children a chance to enter a different dimension and maximize their
ability to imagine. Fairytales and fantasies have existed to tell children's stories because of their ability to bring a child

Role of Children's Television in the Global Marketplace...
Abstract
It was not long ago that there was wide agreement among broadcasters, scholars, educators and parents concerning the ultimate goal of children's
television programming: to educate. Today, it would be difficult to find even two people to agree on such terms. Popular opinion would lead us to
believe that broadcasters now seek to exploit the youngest members of their audience––turning them into life–long viewers (and consumers).
Scholars and educators woefully condemn television for the "dumbing down" of America. Parents, no longer present during all television viewing
hours, may not even be aware of what their children are watching. When we add an international perspective into the mix, we inevitably invite

The first (and most common) is "Open Sesame." In this format, the opening and closing segments of the show are made locally, but the rest of the
program is compiled from material produced by the United States and leased to the foreign country.2 The second method (and the one most
commonly touted by CTW ambassadors) is co–production. In this method, foreign nations play a larger role in the compilation of footage for the
show: some is produced locally, some is from the United States. As of 1988, there were 15 co–productions worldwide, and that number has remained
quite constant since that time.3 The U.S. version uses little, if any, foreign material.4
CTW remains a not–for–profit U.S. corporation with a 1994 operations reserve fund of $34 million and an endowment of $71 million.5. Foreign
"franchisers" of "Sesame Street" are restricted by an agreement with CTW that does not permit the program to be aired with commercials. All profit
comes, in turn, from toy sales and is immediately turned over and utilized by the extensive research–design system that is unique to CTW and
"Sesame Street."6
It is, in fact, the CTW research system that has drawn the most criticism from the global front. The system implements two types of testing:
formative and summative. Formative tests are those conducted prior to broadcast, and

Charles Dickens Mood Of A Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens was the most famous author of the 19th century. His most well known work, A Christmas Carol has been adapted many times in the
last 150 years. Two modern interpretations include the 1992 "The Muppet Christmas Carol" and the 2009 "A Christmas Carol".
To start off with, Charles Dickens novel does a fine job of setting the tone of the scene because it displays a "dismal, wretched, and ruinous
churchyard". This description tells the reader that the church yard is old and in ruins. Also the novel does a grand job at presenting the tone by saying
in a desperate tone "I am not the man I was." This shows the reader that Scrooge wants to change. Overall the novel does a good job at showing the
change in Scrooge.

My Love For Life
Now it begins, the next chapter, this amazing moment where I start a new part of my life. The next steps I take might be at the door of your
institution. To introduce myself, I am Matthew Kopsachilis from Long Island, a man who has one dream, to make movies. Today, you will
understand why I am a perfect candidate to be a Film Production Major at your school.
I live by the quote, "Life is a story, so make it a good one!" I have always loved telling stories. Back in elementary school, I told stories about Dash
and Violet, two characters from the animated movie, The Incredibles. Well, one day the teacher overheard my story and thought it was true and
called my parents! That was a good one!
I guess you can say The Incredibles spoke to me. It created a spark that turned into a flame. My love for movies grew. The Muppet Movie, The Dark
Crystal and Labyrinth all captivated me. I started to pay attention to the camera shots and would wait for the credits in every movie. I got to know
Jim Henson and his vision. As I got older, the movie ratings progressed and my interest intensified.
For my 10th birthday, my mom got me a video camera, so I could make my own movies. I started with stop motion, and my love for filming grew. I
created a You Tube Profile and created Lego Batman shorts, and was inspired with all the "likes". I wanted to learn more so I took a class at the local
theater, called Film in a Flash. We created film shorts and had the opportunity to learn how

Portrayal Of Female Heroines From Disney 's Cartoon Heroines
Not many companies can influence the childhood development of many Americans like the Walt Disney Company. Disney, named after their
founder, began as just an animation studio called The Walt Disney Studios, which the company describes as "the foundation on which The Walt
Disney Company was built". Today, Disney produces various items targeted at children like toys, clothing, and animation ("Company"). In the paper,
Images of Animated Others: The Orientalization of Disney's Cartoon Heroines From The Little Mermaid To The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Celeste
Lacroix of the College of Charleston assesses the portrayal of female heroines from Disney animated films that depicts human main characters,
examining the sexualization of non–European or the "exotic" others, and brings to light Disney's strategy to instill an attitude of consumerism in
children. Despite my memorable sentiment with Disney animations as a child, I agree with Lacroix's assertion that Disney impose consumerism onto
children, especially with DVD commercials, tie–in products and "apps" on smartphones and tablets.
Starting off her paper, Lacroix begins with an anecdote of her visit to a theater's premier of The Lion King. Within her anecdote, Lacroix remarks
that "a toddler...began shouting with glee" for the character Timon from The Lion King, which Lacroix found concerning as the toddler "was all too
aware" even before the movie started playing (213–214). Lacroix directs attention to the repeated exposure of

Play Vs A Christmas Carol
Audio or Play?
The Christmas Carol is an exciting tale about an old greedy miser that gets visited by three christmas spirits – Past,Present, and Future. In class,we
listened to the audio version and we also read the play. Each person got to read a part in the play if they wanted. Then we would listen to the audio.
The play version of "A Christmas Carol" is better than the audio because I can visualize the characters, imagine the actions, and hear the tone of
voice.
One reason that the play is much better than the audio is,can visualize the characters in my mind. the play includes descriptive words that help me to
visualize the characters. At the very beginning of the play Marley is introduced as,"ancient;awful, dead eyed,"found on page 776. Later when
Scrooge is portrayed as,"shrivels his cheeks, stiffens his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we read in class, each person is a different character in the play. In the audio, one man reads the play as every character. This can get very
confusing at times when there are several characters in a scene.Like when people were selling Scrooge's things in the future.I misinterpeted the audio
so I had to read the play to understand what was happenning.
Now, some might say that the tone of voice in the audio can help you understand better than reading the play aloud. That's not true, if you don't
understand what is being said you can't reread it because it's an audio. Also, you can't follow along with the words because it's an audio. If you get
mixed up, you will be completely lost. All in all the play would be a better way to go when learning about the famous Charles Dickens' story A
Christmas Carol because one can visualize characters, imagine actions, and imagine the tone of voice. Each of these elements make the story more
understandable. These are the reasons why the audio version of a christmas carol is not as good at the play. But if you ask me, I like the Muppet
movie over both of

The Pros And Cons Of Life

  • 1. The Pros And Cons Of Life In Aurora, Colorado, there's a publishing place in the town square. In front of the publishing place is I, Phil DeVille. I'm wearing a brown suit, gray pants, a white shirt and a red tie. I look like Simon, Rookie's dad. Anyways, four applications have been submitted. Colin Morrison is 37 and is from Albuquerque. Kira made me and Lil live in separate rooms. Our old house was fine until we had to move to another house. The reason is that my old room got burned. Kira said, "Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kelly said, "I don't know." A voice said, "Thank you for using Clone Machine. Battery low at 0%. The battery is low. Please change your clone machine." After "Phil" disappeared, Mrs. Kelly said, "I can't believe there was a clone of Phil. Wait a minute, Phil used the clone machine to cut school! That's it! I will be calling Baylee!" She picked up the phone and asked, "Hello, is this Baylee Barradas?" Baylee said, "Yes it is." Mrs. Kelly said, "This is Mrs. Kelly speaking and I think Phil used a clone machine to make a clone of himself so that he can skip school!" Baylee said, "Kira should have known that it was a cloning machine! He has to sing with me! I will contact the nearest person to take him to me!" Mrs. Kelly said, "Please sing with him when you see him! Thanks and good–bye!" The voice said, "New York Penn Station. Everybody off." I walked off the train and then took a subway to 42nd Street. Even though I was saved after Cold Sherman caught me not in school, it didn't end well after Hino Armstrong Lambert looked at a photo of his parents as teens at the beach when he wasn't supposed to. A man dressed in a pink suit, pink pants, a white shirt and a black tie came. His name was Violin. He said, "Sir, why do you look shocked and familiar?" He noticed me. He said, "Oh my God! It's Phil! Your teacher called me and told you that you were supposed to be in school! That's it! I'm taking you to..." "Jacoby!" he heard a voice. Paul ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Compare And Contrast Lorax Book And Movie I think the movie is better than the book because it's more visual, has more action, and has props. In the movies, it's more visual so you can actually see what's going on. For example, The video clip of the Lorax, you can see all the characters acting and moving around. Also cooperating. You can also tell by watching the Lorax that at the beginning mood was happy and the ending was depressing. Finally, you could also visualize the bright forest full of truffla trees. Next, in the movie, it has more action. Characters are moving around and also cooperating. There's also lighting. In the Lorax clip, it shows the characters running away when the super ax–hacker cuts down the trees. In the Alice in Wonderland clip, it showed a lot of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast A Christmas Carol In the book a Christmas carol there is a boy named Fred who is Ebenezer scrooge's nephew and there are many differences to him from another version of a christmas carol which is a movie made by the muppets so here i will state the differences The first instant is in the book he was just a nice helpful person inviting scrooge in for a holiday party and in the movie he was more of a motivational speaker and also the movie version of Fred was pretty young and in the book he sounds quite middle age maybe in his early 30's and the movie fred looks like he was 21 to 25 but besides the point of him being young he was married and he loved speaking about it to Scrooge personally I don't remember him talking about him being married but that might just ... • 4. Hollywood And The Lack Of Culture In Hollywood This country has been described as a "melting pot" of different ethnicities. To put it into statistics, the United States' population in 2014 accounted 37.9 percent minority. No matter who they are, people come together to enjoy whatever Hollywood has produced; whether it's cinematic masterpieces or tasteful television productions. In fact, 46 percent of all movie tickets sold in the United States were purchased by people of color in that year (Hunt et al). They would all come together to watch a movie that hopefully would be able to showcase what America looked like today; however, they would be faced with disappointment. The lack of representation is apparent as people gaze upon the silver screen. After a study by the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies, where they examined 163 films, it is revealed that 12.9 percent of the lead roles were claimed by minorities. The study reports that it's a decline from the 16.7 percent in comparison to the year prior. Furthermore, it's not just the silver screen where diversity lacks– television is another victim. In cable scripted television shows, white actors had 78 percent of the 1120 roles, observed by the same study, while minorities accounted for 22 percent in the 2013–2014 season. With many wonders as to why the lack of diversity is prevalent, it still happens and Hollywood isn't hosting a fair playing field between actors in the majority and minority. If and when Hollywood uses diverse actors in their projects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Labyrinth Hero's Journey Labyrinth is an adventure musical fantasy film about a young girl's journey to rescue her baby brother. Jennifer Connelly plays Sarah Williams, a young girl with an active imagination stuck in the twilight time of a girl becoming a woman. Trapped at home while her brother, Toby, cries endlessly, Sarah says, "I wish the goblins would take you away right now." To her astonishment, David Bowie's character, Goblin King Jareth, grants her wish and whisks the babe away to his magical realm. Sarah immediately regrets what was said but can not take it back. Jareth makes a deal with Sarah. If she solves the labyrinth in 13 hours, then she may have her brother back. If she fails to reach the goblin castle and win her brother back within the bargained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Roger Ebert, 'nightmare' movies such as the Labyrinth are not as suspenseful as they should be. These movies do not follow any rules or logic. Anything can occur, nothing has to happen, rules continuously change, and nothing is as it seems. He believes we are wasting energy caring: "Consider, for example, the scene in Labyrinth where Sarah thinks she is waking up from her horrible dream and opens the door of her bedroom. Anything could be outside that door." He also believes the Muppet idea works better when humans visit the Muppet world as in the Muppet Movies rather than when Muppets appear the human world. He states another problem with the film is its length. Ebert argues that without a strong plot to carry us through the movie, movies like this are endanger of becoming just a series of incidents: "There's no structure to the order of the adventures. Sarah does this, she does that, she's almost killed here, almost trapped there, until at last nothing much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Why Should You Eat For Lunch? Essay Deciding what to eat for lunch, debating which extracurricular activities to join and making friends are typically common things you think of when thinking about school. In most cases when one thinks of school they think of making friends, having fun, learning and gaining independency, and ultimately getting out alive. My experience with school was not the best. Feeling like I never fit in always seemed to take place over my studies. Here is what I have learned. Learning to start what I finished was one of the first lessons learned that I can remember. When I was around 7 years old we lived next door to an elderly couple. The wife used to be the girl scout's leader of my troop. I don't think they had family around so I would hang out with them often. Mr. Bradley would work endlessly in his garage on puzzles. He had tons of them stacked on a shelf in the garage and we always worked on them together. When it seemed we were working too long and not making any progress I always suggested we put it away and start on a new one. Mr. Bradley never allowed it, he always said we need to finish what we started. It could be anything from as small as finishing my chores, homework or as big as finishing out something we learned in girl scouts. I remember I didn't see their garage up for a while so I knocked on the door. Mrs. Bradley's sister answered and said they were in the hospital because Mr. Bradley had a procedure done. • 8. Freaks And Geeks Analysis TV–Ugly All an actor seeks is work, and one will often take any work he can get. For the unfortunates with passion in their not–perfectly– symmetrical eyes, that work may be playing "Creepy Dude #5" and "Fat Girl at Party" from their introduction into the business until their decision to quit it. Fortunately for these unconventional faces and body types, there is an ally behind the desk keeping an eye out more for talent than for allure. Allison Jones, the casting genius behind such comedy projects as "Freaks and Geeks," "The Office," and "Parks and Recreation," makes it her business to hire real, funny actors to fill real, funny roles. She is not afraid to hire someone funny looking if he/she will get the job done. The question is not whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the web series, Jones cast an actress recommended by the creator who was both "really good, and beautiful." If it is important for a character to look a certain way, by no means will Jones try to inhibit the process and cast someone ugly for the fun of it. Her job is to cast the right person. Naturally, a character like Lindsay Bluth (from Arrested Development, another of Jones' shows), whose attractiveness is her currency in life, will be played by a beautiful woman (Portia de Rossi). Chris Traeger, a health nut from Parks and Recreation determined to look 20 years younger than his age, is played by the very conventionally attractive Rob Lowe. But when a character is goofy in a real sort of way, like Martin Starr's Bill Haverchuck from Freaks and Geeks, it helps to have someone who looks right rather than ... • 10. Informative Essay About Disneyland Annie Ngiam Claremont High School 9/9/17 Have you ever thought you understood something? Until you dig a little deeper and realize something has always been there right in front of your face and never realized it? Like little inside jokes and playing tri blue from where you started. I had a party in my backyard with a few close friends, singing to K–pop, or Korean music. My Korean friend proceeded to laugh when someone was trying to sing a song lyric in Korean, or at least her version of the song. The translation to what my friend was singing was "Cats and almonds and I'm going to eat your face, two very different lines then the song lyrics themselves. Our new inside joke is "Cats and Almonds" However in cinema and amusement parks, we call these 'inside jokes' "easter eggs". Whether they were created because of a challenge, or simply a memorial to remember where the creators started from, these inside jokes can be found everywhere in Disney. First, we will be revealing the easter eggs important to the people behind the magic. Second, we will find the secret meaning of the, oh I can't find it... hidden mickeys and finally the movie connection easter eggs that have sparked many Disney theories. Have you ever thought about where Disneyland is? The address is conveniently 1313 Disneyland Dr, Anaheim. Sure, 1313 is a rather strange number for an address, but is there something behind the numbers? M is the 13th letter of the English alphabet, meaning 1313 is two M's. What do ... There are only a few that are considered "Classics". What I consider classics are the movies that families pull out every year to watch during the Christmas season. If you prefer more recently made movies, there are many great movies that made it onto my list from the 90s and 2000s. These are some of my favorite holiday movies that I watched every year since I could understand the English language and that I still thoroughly enjoy today. #10 A Christmas Carol (2009)– This Disney animated movie is the newest version of the 1938 movie, A Christmas Carol. The famous actor, Jim Carrey, voices Ebenezer Scrooge. Disney did a perfect job of following the original storyline with Scrooge, the three ghosts, and all the other actors. This very exciting film is also very popular in 3D. Because this film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, it is a fantastic remake of an old, loved, holiday classic, yet some people still prefer the 1984 version. #9 A Christmas Carol (1984)– This Christmas movie is a version of Charles Dickens's famous 1800s play and book, A Christmas Carol. This movie is one of the most accurate movies based on the play and book, and never gets boring, because it of the action with all the ghosts. Because of this, I consider this movie to be the original version although I know it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Different depictions can define how society views the mentally disabled and how these people are respected, in general. Positive Representation Positive representation is usually obvious and the mentally disabled character or characters could be easily identifiable when compared to others. However, this portrayal causes the character to be unique and teaches children on how to kindly interact with others with mental issues. Three Symbols In The Dumpster I've been good friends with my partner, Lauren Lester, for a while now, but our most recent assignment together, aptly named three symbols in a bag, has opened my eyes to some interesting revelations about her. While not very in depth, I've learned more about her and her family than she may realize. My partner bestowed upon me a Kermit amiibo–type–figurine, an art marker, and a lady bug plushy, with simple explanations as to their significance, but I took it much deeper, each item telling a story of its own. The first item Lauren pulled out of her bag was her Muppet propaganda, the Kermit amiibo. From my past experiences with her love for Pepe and other repulsive memes, I figured it was meant to represent her obsession with frog like monstrosities, but was fortunately disproven. She provided me with a brief explanation of how she, like many American children, grew up watching the Muppets. Her love for the character built upon years worth of childhood memories as she got older, the timeless characters still present today. I however, couldn't really sympathize with her adoration for the stuffed amphibian as I didn't grow up like most kids, watching old timely horror movies and letting Frankenstein fuel my young curiosities. At 13 years old I've actually only seen one Muppets movie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 19. A Battle Of Endings By James Cameron Sundiata Short Essay Andrew Davis Professor Benander Topics in Literature 4 November 2012 A Battle of Endings It is widely believed that the ending makes the story. What would Titanic, the movie by James Cameron, be without its ending? In the epics of Kirikou and Sundiata, we see two distinctly different endings that would cause different responses from different audiences. The Treatment of the villain is significant in the end because it brings into question the judgment of the hero. Examining how others respond to the shadow is important because it allows people to examine what they would do to treat the shadow who wronged others. A modern teenage Disney audience would be more satisfied with the treatment Sundiata gave to his enemies, because Sundiata tries his best to satisfy the people who were affected by the rule of the shadow. Sundiata's treatment of the enemies should be established before getting into the argument. Sundiata just wants the shadow out of the way of the goal of the conquering Mali, but he tries to please his people, the maiden, in serving justice to the Shadow. Some may argue that Sundiata really wanted to kill Soumaoro because of the treachery he brought upon Mali. However, Sundiata proves that defeating Mali is more important than killing the shadow when the book by D.T. Niane of the Longman African Writers states, "Straight away the son of Sogolon sent some of them towards the river to completely guard the mountain" (67), notice he did not ... • 26. Quentin Tarantino's Use Of Pastiche In The Film Pulp Fiction Pastiche is a technique used in artistic works that is constructed from borrowing various elements from other texts. The strategy of pastiche is present in the film "Pulp Fiction" (1994) by Quentin Tarantino and the artistic photographic series 'Living in Hell and Other Stories' by Tom Hunter. Through these artworks the audience is able to identify a range of textual works that imitate the style or character of particular artwork, film or literature. Pastiche derives from the late nineteenth century word 'pasticcio'. This French and Italian word means a pie filled with a variety of ingredients. Pastiche used in film is generally incorporated to create a nostalgic tone. However this is not the case with 'Pulp Fiction' as the strategy is used to pay homage and show appreciation towards 1950's pulp fiction texts and influential films. Tarantino alludes to various aspects, techniques and scenes from other Hollywood movies into his own. Tarantino stated, "I always hope that if one million people see my movie, they see one million different movies" . Elements from Hollywood movies such as weapons, costumes, camera angles, themes and famous scenes are injected into 'Pulp Fiction'. His film blurs the line between cinematic styles and genres. Intertextuality is a significant factor within Tarantino's work, as by reinventing the old he is able to preserve originality and create a sense of dimension within his work. Tarantino refers to 'Pulp Fiction' not as a movie but as multiple movies. An example of pastiche within the film is present in the scene in which Marcellus Wallace coincidentally recognises Butch in his car while walking across the street. This action mimics the scene from Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" where Marion's boss recognises her as he crosses at traffic lights. Through this pastiche Tarantino is able to show his appreciation and influence of Hitchcock's infamous films while also applying the scene in a postmodern context. Another occurrence of pastiche appears in Butches weapon of choice; a baseball bat and chainsaw. These weapons of choice pay homage to the films 'Walking Tall' and 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' ... The author sympathized with them. In most of the adopted version of the play, this primary reason starts to drift gradually. Compared to the movie this reason is still intact. The consistent interpretation of the character of Scrooge is that he is the symbol of cruelty that is the rule of the lower class by the aristocracy. Aside from The Muppets and Sesame Street, which involves more comedic skits to relay their message to its viewers, The Dark Crystal was a different kind of muppet movie because it used fantasy, fiction and action to tell its story. This is significant because although Chamberlain attempts to deceive them again, he ends up capturing Kira, forcing Jen and Chamberlain to "join in direct combat", exhibiting the sixteenth function of Propp. This demonstrates an aspect of one of the struggles a hero has to face in his or her journey. As Jen attempts to rescue Kira, he finds the location of the "dark crystal", bring him one step closer in achieving his quest. The final challenge is presented when Jen is on top of the "dark crystal" and after a failed attempt, resulting in the death of Kira, Jen succeeds in the end by uniting the shard with the "dark crystal" fulfilling the prophecy and restoring the planet to its previous state. Thus showing the final function of Propp: resolution of the task. All these functions create the structure of Henson's fantasy movie and helps tell a story that keeps its viewers wanting to know what is going to happen next. With Henson using these narrative patterns and intricately designed puppets to tell a story to children, it provides a change from laughter and comedy to something filled with excitement and suspense. Abstract It was not long ago that there was wide agreement among broadcasters, scholars, educators and parents concerning the ultimate goal of children's television programming: to educate. Today, it would be difficult to find even two people to agree on such terms. Popular opinion would lead us to believe that broadcasters now seek to exploit the youngest members of their audience––turning them into life–long viewers (and consumers). In this method, foreign nations play a larger role in the compilation of footage for the show: some is produced locally, some is from the United States. Despite my memorable sentiment with Disney animations as a child, I agree with Lacroix's assertion that Disney impose consumerism onto children, especially with DVD commercials, tie–in products and "apps" on smartphones and tablets. Starting off her paper, Lacroix begins with an anecdote of her visit to a theater's premier of The Lion King. Within her anecdote, Lacroix remarks that "a toddler...began shouting with glee" for the character Timon from The Lion King, which Lacroix found concerning as the toddler "was all too aware" even before the movie started playing (213–214). • 39. Play Vs A Christmas Carol Audio or Play? The Christmas Carol is an exciting tale about an old greedy miser that gets visited by three christmas spirits – Past,Present, and Future. In class,we listened to the audio version and we also read the play. Each person got to read a part in the play if they wanted. Then we would listen to the audio.
