The Power Of Unified Communications Vision Confidential Version

Editor's Notes

  • #4 Microsoft unified communications technologies use the power of software to deliver complete communications—messaging, voice, and video—across the applications and devices that people use every day.Integrating the experiences you associate with the telephone—phone calls, voice mail, and conferencing—the work you do on a computer—documents, spreadsheets, instant messaging, e-mail, and calendars fundamentally change the way people work.We believe unified communications will transform business in the coming decade in the same way e-mail changed the business landscape in the 1990s.When phone services become software, are managed by a server, and are delivered to desktop applications, many interesting things happen.

  • #8 > 1:30<Based on the interviews with the 15 existing Microsoft UC customers, Forrester constructed a TEI framework for a composite organization (see below), and the associated ROI analysis illustrating the financial impact areas. As seen in Table 1, the risk-adjusted ROI for the composite company is 563%.Internal and external collaboration is of highest importance.• With a dearth of candidates with sufficient skills in digital marketing, hiring qualified staff is difficult. The firm must make the most of its existing talent and maximize retention.• High-value workers are separated from each other geographically; 80% of them do not work at the headquarters office.• Client relationships are long-standing, thus offering impetus for deeper communications across firewalls. Nevertheless, most clients maintain relationships with several digital marketing agencies; new initiatives and even extensions of existing projects are frequently put up for competitive bid.• The organization is forward-thinking and readily adopts new technologies when the products can be demonstrated to provide business value.

  • #17 Talking Points:In this presentation I provided you an overview of the most recent Exchange investments and innovations (namely Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2007 SP1), as well as a glimpse into our product investments for the next release (code named Exchange “14”). This roadmap slide offers you a brief timeline around the delivery of these various offerings. These dates are subject to changes, but as the last 12+ years have demonstrated, Exchange seeks to ship a high-quality, major product release every 2 to 4 years. As such, we are currently scheduled to deliver Exchange “14” in the second half of calendar year 2009. This calendar year (2008), Microsoft Online plans to make generally available Exchange Online (based on Exchange Server 2007). For more information, and a chance to test drive this service, visit http://www.microsoft.com/online.Slide Objective:Provide timeline roadmap of our recent and next generation Exchange Server releases. This is subject to change without notice and should only be shared under NDA, since we have not yet publicly disclosed Exchange “14”.
