3. 1st Verse
Never took your side, never cursed your name
I keep my lips shut tight, until you go-o-oh
We've come as far as we're ever gonna get
Until you realize, that you should go-o-oh
During this first verse I will be using a mixture between both performance and
narrative as the actress will be lip-syncing the words whilst looking through
pictures of a male that supposedly broke her heart (which is not established by the
viewer yet), this specific scene of the actor lip-syncing and looking through pictures
fits in with the lyrics as it describes the after math of a fallen relationship therefore
it is the correct portrayal. The first few lines highlight that it may have been a
relationship which ended negatively however she explains that she was never one
that slated him even though it ended in the way it did.
4. 1st Chorus
I'm in misery where you can seem as old as your omens
And the mother we share will never keep your proud head from falling
The way is long but you can make it easy on me
And the mother we share will never keep our cold hearts from calling
For this exact scene I will use narrative as it will be relevant for my music video as it is
establishing the characters therefore using performance would be irrelevant for
this scene as its all about establishing the narrative and characters. During this first
chorus it will continue from the first scene as a transition will be used through
pictures and a memory will be relived, showing traits of their relationship and how
it was a good relationship, this will last until the third line until it goes back on to
the female and she is shown entering a room which is empty until she steps in and
relives yet another memory. The lyrics also show this as they enhance the fact that
they’re happy and they make life easier for each other via one anothers presence.
5. 2nd VerseIn the dead of night, I'm the only one here
And I will cover you, until you go-o-oh
'Cause if I told the truth, I will always be free
And keep a prize with me, until you go-o-oh
During this verse it will be narrative throughout as the storyline will develop as it will
begin to show the male and female in a relationship which shows traits of him
being unfaithful behind her back. He is shown with one of the actresses friends
which she is unaware of- the mistress and the boyfriend caress each other whilst
outside, when this is happening the actress is unwittingly serving the many guests
in her home. This scene starts to show what the relationship is like and the females
naivety. The lyrics project the narrative as in the girls perspective she is the “only
one here” which is a metaphor for the fact that she is the only one in the
relationship as she is the only one which is committed to it and is lonely within it as
her boyfriend is betraying her which is furthermore supported as she says “Until
you go”, meaning that he is leaving her for another quite frequently although only
a snippet is shown of him being unfaithful.
6. 2nd Chorus
I'm in misery where you can seem as old as your omens
And the mother we share will never keep your proud head from falling
The way is long but you can make it easy on me
And the mother we share will never keep our cold hearts from calling
During this chorus I will be using performance within the narrative as the actress will
be lip-syncing the words as the climax of the narrative has been established and it
is evident that in the relationship some problems are occurring within their
relationship therefore these lyrics clearly dictate that as within them, they are
about being in “Misery” interpreting that there are deep rooted issues which are
difficult to overcome. Using performance within this will highlight that the actress
is feeling very upset about the relationship dilemma.
7. 3rd Verse
Into the night for once, we're the only ones left
I bet you even know, where we could go-o-oh
And when it all fucks up, you put your head in my hands
It's a souvenir for when you go-o-oh
During this verse it will be a combination between narrative and performance as the
actress will discover that her boyfriend has been cheating on her with her friend
therefore she will be very angry whilst reliving a tarot card reading which predicted
that this would happen; the female is then saying “When it all fucks up” because
he has cheated on her, she then explains the aftermath of her relationship as she
tells him to go as she wants him to leave her alone because she is hurt by what he
has done. The lyrics clearly explain what is happening as it shows that there is a
relationship that has deteriorated as there is no longer anything left and it is now a
“souvenir” as it was something that is to be remembered and that is all.
8. 4th chorus
I'm in misery where you can seem as old as your omens
And the mother we share will never keep your proud head from falling
The way is long but you can make it easy on me
And the mother we share will never keep our cold hearts from calling
This is the last chorus therefore I will be using both performance and narrative however
it will be more narrative as it is showing the current state, during this scene she will
be overcoming the past events therefore there will be a montage of various things
varying from burning the pictures to seeking revenge on the man that betrayed her
showing the power trip that she has. The chorus reinvents what had happened as it
reiterates that she is remembering all that has happened and that it is still a fresh
wound, on the lines like “And the mother we share will never keep your proud head
from falling” will explain that the males reluctance of the male wanting to own up to
what he had done and how angry it is making her. This is the summary of the whole
music video therefore I think it is very important to include both lip-syncing and
narrative.
