This document discusses the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of nurses on the front lines. It provides an overview of COVID-19, including its transmission, symptoms, and prevention methods. It then describes the crucial role of nurses in managing COVID-19 patients through infection control training, strict adherence to guidelines, and multidisciplinary care of patient needs. The document also addresses the mental health impacts on nurses working during the pandemic such as stress, exhaustion, and feelings of helplessness. It concludes by offering recommendations for coping with stress including exercising, getting social support, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and seeking help from mental health resources.

❑Identify the transmission,
precautionary measures
❑Learn and understand the nurse's role as
response team in managing COVID-19 patients
❑Cope with the mental stress during

4. CORONA VIRUS
COVID-19 is❑Is an infectious disease caused by newly
discovered coronavirus.
❑It was identified as the cause of cluster of
pneumonia cases from Wuhan, a city in the Hubei

Transmission
❑ PERSON-TO-PERSON SPREAD
OF SEVERE ACUTE
RESPIRATORY SYNDROME
CORONAVIRUS 2
(RESPIRATORY DROPLET,
INFLUENZA LIKE)
Universal airborne precaution to
aerosol-generating procedure
6. ❑Environmental contamination through
infectious droplet (indirect transmission)
Environmental Disinfection is integral part
of preventing the spread of infection in the
hospital and home setting.
7. ❑ Uncertain Risk of animal Contact
SARS-CoV-2 infection is thought to have originally
been transmitted to humans from an animal host,
but the ongoing risk of transmission through
animal contact is uncertain.
CDC recommends to kept away animals from
other animals or people outside of the
household and that people with suspected or
confirmed Covid-19.
8. ❑Immunity and risk of reinfection
Antibodies to the virus are induced in those who have
become infected. Preliminary evidence suggests that
some of these antibodies are protective, but this
remains to be definitively established.
Should evidence confirm that the presence of these
antibodies reflects a protective immune response,
serologic screening will be an important tool to
understand population immunity and distinguish
individuals who are at lower risk for reinfection.
9. Watch for symptom
The incubation period for COVID-19 is
thought to be within 14 days following
exposure.
Most common clinical features at the onset
of illness were:
❑Dry cough
❑Fever,
❑ Fatigue
❑Myalgia
❑New loss of taste or smell
❑Seek emergency help when showing
