Carrying Capacity
Carrying Capacity The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil,
but because of the people who don t do anything about it (Albert Einstein). In our world today
people are ignorant. Humans use their imagination too much and their brain too little. Also,
people don t do anything to solve their problems because we think nothing could go wrong, we
expect others do fix everything. That is where we re wrong. Today lots of people are saying the
world won t reach a carrying capacity, but I disagree. I think the world will reach its carrying
capacity before 2100. This will happen for many reasons: Natural Disasters, Wars, too little... Show

This means that a lot of people are not getting the stuff they need. The rates of people who don t
get enough to eat is skyrocketing. People are becoming homeless because of competition on jobs
and much more. Everything is getting more expensive and some people can t afford what they
need. The website worldhunger.org tells us about how there is enough food on this earth for
everyone to get a good meal. So what s stopping us? Greediness and expensiveness. Today we
have one big problem; Natural Disasters. Everything else is kind of preventable and fixable, but
not Natural Disasters, they are indomitable and inevitable. We have: Tornadoes, Tsunamis,
Volcano Eruptions, Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Monsoons and much more. Global Warming has
affected us too. Lots of things effect on us, but it s not the effect it has, but how it affects our
ability to get over it. When a big tornado hits and kills a lot of people, what do we do? We let it
get a hold on us; fear takes over and we scramble for our only chance hope. We hide. So after a
big storm happens and lots of people are killed we still don t do the big thing. We don t help.
Some people like the Red Cross and other Organizations, help the people in need, but a lot of
people still stay in their cushy lives. They don t help them. If we can t help them over the
inevitable, than how can we help them with things we can

Simone De Beauvoir And Frantz Fanon
Simone de Beauvoir and Frantz Fanon were both interested in the experiences of marginalized
groups, women and black men respectively. In The Second Sex, De Beauvoir discusses the history
of domination women have experienced at the hands of the superior group, men. In Black Skin,
White Masks, Fanon explains and analyzes the experiences of black men in the wake of colonialism
and up to modern times. Both authors not only address the ways in which women and black men
are dominated by others, but also the ways in which the oppressed group participates, often
unknowingly, in the systems of their own domination. According to De Beauvoir, women
participate in their own domination by embracing the benefits given to them by men, by fulfilling
expectations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From birth, girls are taught that they are to act a certain way, and when they become women, they
perpetuate these norms by fulfilling them. We are exhorted to be women, remain women, become
women... , De Beauvoir writes, ...it would appear, then, that every female human being is not
necessarily a woman; to be so considered she must share in that mysterious and threatened reality
known as femininity . This femininity makes a female person a woman. For example, [a woman]
must become a passive thing, a promise of submission and, conversely, if [a woman] is proud and
demanding, woman meets the male as an adversary and is decidedly not feminine. Shut up in her
flesh, her home, she sees herself as passive before these gods with human faces who set goals and
establish values , and this acceptance and participation in traditional femininity perpetuates societal
beliefs that women, or at least acceptable women, are inferior naturally. By doing this, women
participate in the continuation of their domination by men, who society believes are more naturally
suited for superiority. Furthermore, The woman that does not conform devalues herself sexually,
and hence socially, since sexual values are an integral feature of society . This quote shows that,
according to De Beauvoir, women have little

The Role Of The Government On Childhood Obesity Essay
SPCM 200, 001 10/17/16 The Role of the Government in Preventing Childhood Obesity Specific
Purpose Statement: To invite my audience to determine the role of the government in preventing
childhood obesity. Thesis: With the number of obese children increasing, the government has to
step in to reduce this number, but there are people who argue that it is not the government s role
to intervene in the way people raise their children. Introduction I.Attention Getter: According to
healthiergeneration.org 1 in 3 children are overweight or obese in the United States, triple the
rate from just one generation ago. (American) a.Childhood obesity currently affects 12.5 million
children in the U.S. b.According to Mayoclinic.org, childhood obesity is a condition in which a
child is significantly overweight for his or her age and height (Mayo). c.Childhood obesity is a
big issue because the extra weight often starts children on the path to health problems that were
once only diagnosed to adults. These diseases could be, diabetes, high blood pressure and high
cholesterol. d.This issue personally affects me because I have a younger sibling that suffers from
this chronic disease. II.Will the help of the government help us reduce childhood obesity and help
improve children s education? a.Today we will discuss the different points of view in having the
government implement policies to combat childhood obesity, and the pros and cons of these
programs. b.I hope by sharing this

Corporations Law
1.0 Areas of law
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has long been a touchy issue for governments not just in
Australia, but around the world as well. Companies in Australia are governed by the corporation s
act, which outlines the legal capacity and power of a company. The Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) s
57A1, defines a corporation as a separate legal entity, that includes any corporate body and
unincorporated bodies that may sue, be sued or hold property in the name of an office holder
appointed for that purpose. In context of corporate governance, the main issue is with the current
legislation is in regards to director s duties. Under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) s1802, directors
have a civil obligation to act with due care and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the Australian government may introduce a rule that requires registered companies to
participate in a policy in which each company need to design a Corporate Social Responsibility
Committee that will observe every activity conducted and how will it impact those other than the
shareholders, specifically the employees, suppliers, customers and also the environment. The
company would then have to participate in a policy in which it is required to be publicized on its
own website. Although it may be contradicting to the directors best interest for the company, by
spending an amount on volunteering programs, such as the hunger project to help extinguish
famine in poor countries, it also helps the company to build a better image that in turn, could be
advantageous to the directors.
4.0 Issues of importance
The push for company reporting to include CSR related information in annual reports is of utmost
importance, given the prominence of corporate influence in today s society. The recommendation to
implement triple bottom line reporting would increase the extent to which companies are taking
responsibility for the consequences of their actions, in relation to corporate activities that touch on
environmental or other issues of community concern13
The implementation of the policy requiring companies to establish a corporate Social Responsibility
Committee are

Shameful Cry Of Gold Research Paper
On January 24, 1848, under 10 days before the marking of the peace arrangement finishing the
Mexican War, James W. Marshall, a 36 year old craftsman and jack of all trades, saw a few splendid
bits of yellow mineral close to a sawmill that he was working for John A. Sutter, a Swiss
conceived foreigner who claimed one of the colossal farms that spotted Californias Sacramento
Valley. To test if the bits were trick s gold, which smashs when struck by a mallet, or gold, which is
pliant, Marshall attempted it between two shakes, and found that it could be beaten into an
alternate shape yet not broken. He told the men working with him: Young men, by God, I trust I
have found a gold mine.
On March 15 a San Francisco daily paper, The Californian, printed the principal record of Marshall
s revelation. Inside two weeks, the paper had lost its staff and was compelled to close down its
printing press. In its last version it told its perusers:
The entire nation, from San Francisco to Los Angeles...resounds with the shameful cry of Gold!

Biosynthesis of glycyrrhizin is not fully elucidated at gene level. The early stages of triterpenoid
saponin biosynthesis via isoprenoid pathway involve the dimerization of two molecules of
farnesyl diphosphate catalyzed by squalene synthase, epoxidase mediated oxidation then produces
2,3 oxidosqualene. The first diversifying step in triterpenoid biosynthesis is the cyclization of 2,3
oxidosqualene a common substrate of oxidosqualene cyclases (OSCs) and a precursor of both
triterpenes and sterols [Abe et al., 1993]. The biosynthesis of glycyrrhizin involves the initial
cyclization of 2, 3 oxidosqualene by a specific OSC, ОІ amyrin synthase (bAS), to the primarily
oleanane triterpene ОІ amyrin which is one of the most commonly occurring triterpenes in plants.
The subsequent steps involve a series of oxidative reactions at positions C 11 (two step oxidation)
and C 30 (three step oxidation), followed by glycosyl transfers to the C 3 hydroxyl group.
Genes involved in the early stages of glycyrrhizin biosynthesis, namely, squalene synthase and
bAS, have been functionally isolated from G. glabra [Hayashi et al., 1999, 2001]. The bAS gene
has also been functionally isolated from several other plants including Arabidopsis thaliana
[Shibuya et al., 2009], Avena strigosa [Qi et al., 2004], Lotus japonicus [Sawai et al., 2006], and
Medicago truncatula [Suzuki et al., 2002]; however, most of the steps in the modification of the

Post War America Summary
The return of World War II veterans instilled change on various fronts in America. From the G.I.
Bill, to the regression of civil rights progress and rise of nuclear fears, Americans faced an uncertain
future. To cope with the many changes occurring within America, individuals sought refuge in their
own homes and local communities. Many arguments have been proposed to showcase how
important the central nuclear home was. In the Visions of Family Life in Postwar America excerpt,
from the historical complication Major Problems in the History of American Families and
Children, historian Elaine Tyler May analyzes the impact post war American homes had on society.
May s argument is presented in a complex way, but is primarily conveyed in the statement,... Show

May s inclusion secondary sources in the form of specialists who analyzed the power experts held
during the postwar era increased the strength of her argument. May s first secondary source is the
use of opinions from sociologist William Whyte, who discussed how society became closer and
more unified after World War II due to the migrating population seeking refuge in one another. May
s second use of a secondary source came from anthropologist Margaret Mead, who explained the
increased tension created by the new, uncertain domestic population when they latched onto the
advice of antique consultants. The population s reliance on professional guidance created a
daunting task for the sought after experts. As a result, professionals pushed Americans towards
adaptation rather than defiance, which would result in the conversion to domestic

Aboriginals Are The Indigenous People Of Australia
Aboriginals are the indigenous people of Australia. Australia was invaded by the British in 1788
and forced the Aboriginals off their land and into training camps and reserves (Murray, 2001). The
Aboriginal population greatly declined due to diseases introduced by the British and the lack of
nutrition; the invasion also disconnected nations from one another (Murry, 2001). There are over
five hundred nations in Australia, and many of them are still hunter gathers living in remote areas
of Australia (Altman, 2007). All of the nations articulate through different languages (Riley, 2014).
Every nation trades, marries, and shares resources with other nations; in order to communicate with
the other nations, many aboriginals are able to speak multiple... Show more content on

Aboriginals believe that people and the environment are split into two halves: one half mirrors
the other which represents land, air, water, and geographical features (Riley, 2014). They also
believe that to understand the universe, the two mirror images must come together. In traditional
nations and languages, they have their own guidelines for moiety (Riley, 2014). Children will
either inherit the mother s or the father s moiety and can only marry someone with a different
moiety (Riley, 2014). People who have the same moiety are considered siblings and support one
another (Riley, 2014). When support is provided by someone, it is to be paid back by either the
person receiving the support or by someone in the family (Riley, 2014). Aboriginals don t have
cousins comparable to modern cultures; they have brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers (Riley,
2014).
Totems
Totems comprise the second level of the kinship system; they create a balance among the nations
(Riley, 2014). Every person receives their own totem which becomes their responsibility, and each
person has four totems that represent their nation, clan, family and individuality (Riley, 2014).
Totems link a person to the universe and symbolize their strengths and weaknesses (Riley, 2014).
The totems from the nation, clan, and family are predetermined, but the individual totem is given
by an elder in the community; it can be received at a young age or later in life when their identity
is determined (Riley,

Death is all around you, what do you do? Valley Forge was a winter camp in 1777 to 1778 for the
George Washington and his army. Valley Forge was 18 miles outside of Philadelphia. The
winter at Valley Forge was long, cold, harsh, and horrible. Soldiers 9 month terms were about to
end many wanted to go home. The question to us is would you re enlist or not re enlist? I have
decided to re enlist for three reasons which are less soldiers, hard times, and support. It would
not matter to me what happened I,am a loyal soldier. The first reason why I would re enlist is
less soldiers. From December 1777 to the February 1778 4,000 people either left or died (Doc
A). On February 1st 1778 3,989 people were sick out of 8,000 people(Doc A). Dr. Waldo says
The army which has been surprisingly healthy, now begins to grow sickly. (Doc C). The so
called summer soldier and the sunshine patriot are leaving(Doc D). Summer soldier and sunshine

summer soldiers, I do not want to be one of those. this reason is causing me to re enlist because less

The Importance Of Bullying In The United States
When minors throughout the United States visualize bullying, they generally envision a
substantially larger child physically picking on a much smaller individual. However, when asked
about what harassment looks like, the majority of adolescents are unsure of what it is. Many times
teenagers get bullying and harassment confused or assume they are the same. Harassment and
bullyingare related because they each have to do with someone hurting another person, but
nonetheless, they are utterly different. Bullies put in great thought to who they will bully because
bullying portrays a sense of power and they need someone who will satisfy this need. Harassers do
not choose individuals who are smaller than them, but an equal. Harassers victims are peers... Show

Impact Of Shelf Management On A Supermarket
Impact of shelf management in a supermarket
Supermarkets today across the world have become extremely competitive in nature and the
pressure to prop up sales using existing facilities is increasing. Advertising and point of purchase
sales promotion are used widely by supermarkets to get the maximum amount of sales as possible.
It also helps to know that today data is widely available on almost any factor in consideration.
Such large data can be used well for analysing and finding any particular trends that may benefit
their stores. In supermarkets, as we can generally see and understand, there is a limited amount of
space, large, medium or small depending upon the type of supermarket in operation. Now the task
that store managers have at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research Aim
The primary aim of the research is to assess the impact of product placement on the sales of a
product and determine whether there would be any improvement or decrement in sales as a result
of switching shelf space.
Research Objectives
The objectives of the research are to assess if a product placed in one position on the shelves is
better than it being placed in another position and to see if it is better to place the product with
any other items which can be thought to help improve the sales. Also, another objective of the
research is to understand whether data analysis can be used to improve the shelf management and
whether the inferences from such data analysis for a number of stores in a single supermarket can
be characterized to be standard across the board or whether the output of such analysis should only
be used in a particular store from which data was collected.
Research Questions
This research will concentrate the efforts on answering the below questions:
1.How does shelf management affect the sales of the product? Whether the sales of a product
which was already selling well, decrease because of a shift in the shelf space? Or does the sales of a
product which was not selling before improve because of a change in the shelf space?
2.Which position on the shelf space has

Rising Star Cave Research Paper
About two years ago, scientists spelunked their way through the Rising Star Cave in Johnanesburg,
South Africa, hoping to find fragments of the creatures who had lived there eras before. They
found more than they had ever imagined more than 1,550 bones in a one square yard area and soon
realized that the specimens seemed humanlike. They d discovered an ancient humanancestor.
On Thursday, a team of more than 60 scientists led by American paleoanthropologist Lee Berger
officially announced the new species. They christened it Homo naledi. Naledi means star, and was
chosen because of the location where the fossils were found.
Berger and his team were able to complete the excavation with funding from National Geographic,

Differences Between The North And The South In The 1800s
During the early 19th century, especially before the American Revolution and after the War of
1812, American society has changed greatly. The North and the South followed different paths,
gradually developing into two distinct and very different regions. And in the 1800s, the
disparities between the two regions because of the difference in economic, social and political
structure, continued to widen leading up to the Civil War that raged across the nation from
1861 to 1865 which concluded the decades of diverse ideas and culture between the two regions.
The South s economic were known vastly for its agriculture and farming. Its fertile soil and
warm climate were ideal for large scale farms and crops like tobacco and cotton. In addition, slavery
was also highly profitable. Its labor force was built on the labor of African American slaves,... Show

About two third out of most Southern white families do not owned slaves, while those that do

transportation. And because it was, it had leave a negative impact on the southern economy. It
impeded the development of industry and cities and contributed to high debts, soil exhaustion, and
a lack of technological innovation. The South, unlike the North, did not develop urban centers for
commerce, finance, and industry. Its cities were small as it s failed to develop diversified
economies. Most of the cities did not engaged in international trade but instead on marketing and

The use of Hanshaw s songs, allows viewers to connect to the movie through the music that prior
to the film had no connection to the Ramayana. Different songs by Hanshaw are able to depict
the different emotions Sita goes through in the movie. Sita sings several songs throughout the
movie like: What Wouldn t I Do For That Man , Daddy Won t You Please Come Home , Who s
That Knockin At My Door , Mean to Me , If You Want the Rainbow , Am I Blue , Lover Come
Back to Me , and I ve Got a Feelin I m Fallin . These songs all represent the roller coaster of
emotions that Sita goes through all throughout the film, from love to longing and ultimately
rejection. Through the use of music that was already created some 90 years before, the creator of
this movie is able to give a more genuine feel to it. Knowing that Paley used songs already created
that exactly pinpointed Sita s emotions gives viewers the understanding that this epic is essential to
experiences humans will have through their lives. The accord between Sita s story and Hanshaw s
songs are able to let viewers understand the main purpose of the film, which is that the story of Sita

Salton Sea Research Paper
From being a resort area filled with numerous yachts, the Salton Sea has become an abandoned
destination since the late 20th century. The Salton Sea was created by accident; with an
exponential increase in precipitation, water diverted from the Colorado River to Imperial Valley
creating the Salton Sea. Through its early years, the Salton Sea was a tourist attraction. It was an
inland sea, allowing the public to ride boats and fish. Soon after, the Imperial Valley needed a
drainage lake, and the federal government permitted the Salton Sea to be utilized for this specific
purpose. Salton Sea became a lake where residues from fertilizers as well as pesticides such as
DDT fertilizers and hazardous chemicals were dumped into without any regulation.

The Role Of Resilience In Adolescents
Children and adolescents are resilient. According to McWhirter, McWhirter, McWhirter, and
McWhirter (2013), resilience is the capacity to adapt and function successfully despite
experiencing chronic stress and adversity (p. 130). Resilience is also the ability to come back
from a negative situation and turn the adversity into something positive (Prince Embury, 2015).
When adolescents are placed in a stressful or difficult situation, they strive to make the best of it;
however, there are some adolescents who struggle to make the best of the situation they are in,
which leads to risky behavior. Family factors tend to influence resiliency as well as protective and
riskfactors. Family factors that influence resiliency in adolescents is parental... Show more content

At risk youth are still capable of getting involved with school and community activities. Some
adolescents become involved with art, music, and drama so they can express themselves
artistically. Others get involved with sports because of the family like atmosphere and team
building exercises. Others become involved with local mentoring organizations like Big Brothers,
Big Sisters and church youth groups. All of these activities serve as protective factors for at risk
youth, and help adolescents develop resiliency. According to McWhirter et al (2013), the social
support networks of the larger community also help to ameliorate the effects of stress on children
(p. 131). Adolescents rely on their peers, youth leaders, coaches, and teachers to help them develop
resilience. One of the risks of depending on peers to help develop resilience is peer group
pressure can be either a very powerful ally or a formidable antagonist, dissuading or encouraging
problem behavior (McWhirter et al, 2013, p. 116). As a result, it is imperative for adolescents to
choose their friends wisely, especially if they come from a difficult home background. School and
community environments help adolescents develop the skills they need to overcome their
difficulties (McWhirter et al, 2013, p. 146). Schools and communities also help adolescents develop
resiliency because they provide the support they need to

Causes Of Child Solider In A Long Way Gone
Youth are a vital site for understanding nation and globalization. (Shepler, Youthscapes, p. 122)
One of the topic is child soldiers. Some people believe that child soldier is just a tragedy of wars.
However, understanding the war as a crisis of youth does not mean just understanding RUF
rebels and their reasons for revolt. We must strive to understand the situation of a whole
generation defined by political and economic disenfranchisement. (Shepler, Youthscapes, p. 125)
In A Long Way Gone, Ishmael Beach was joined the rebel to avenge the deaths of (my) family
and to survive. (Beach, A Long Way Gone, p.199) Similar to Ishmael, some children joined the
rebels as a means of assuring their own survival. (Shepler, Youthscapes, p. 124) However, there

Super Bowl s Most Valuable Player Award. Over his career Miller has recorded 73.5 quarterback
sacks and was third fastest to 50 sacks. Barring injury Miller will be in the Hall of Fame and may
one day be the all time leader in sacks.
6. Khalil Mack (6 3 , 250lbs.) Linebacker, Oakland Raiders
Not only is Khalil Mack the reigning Defensive Player of The Year he is the best outside linebacker
according to PFF. His 95.1 PFF grade and unique skill set in the Raiders defense sets him apart as

Comparing Power In Animal Farm And Inner Circle
People can be labeled as less equal than others in different societal eyes. This is portrayed in both
Animal Farm by George Orwell and the film Inner Circle by the way the characters act during
tragedies of the Russian Revolution. They both have like thematic messages intertwined into their
plots. In both works, the theme that mindless followers and too trusting of people can lead to
abuse of power are shown. Another theme showed, more in Animal Farm is that absolute power
is not always the answer. There are two pivotal characters in both of these works that provide the
roll of the mindless followers that are in over their heads. First of all, there is Boxer in Animal
Farm. Like many of the animalsin this novel, Boxer treats Napoleon like royalty and thinks that

This is portrayed with Boxer s motto of Napoleon is always right . Similarly in Inner Circle, the
character Ivan in specific, really grasps onto this theme. At the beginning of the film, he does not
even really like Stalin, but once he gets close and is surrounded by people who worship the
ground he walks on, his mind begins to blur and he starts to see Stalin as the others see him; like
a god. Boxer and Ivan thought this way because these harsh leaders brainwashed their people and
animals to make them think that everything they were doing was for the good of the citizens, not
just to benefit themselves. Like Ivan and boxer, Katya was also extremely impressionable. She
began to think that everything Stalin did for her by taking her away from her parents was a good
thing and that he saved her life. Boxer has similar beliefs, as he trusts Napoleon when he convinces
him that Snowball is not to be trusted because he has rebelled, like Katya s parents. Adding on,

Plastic Pollution Case Study
There are a variety of stakeholders involved in the worldwide issue of plastic pollution including
local, national and international governments, non government organizations (NGO s) and
corporations with all these stakeholders having a different range of perspectives and solutions on
the matter it is increasingly difficult to gain consensus on how to jointly address this global
problem. (reference).
The Department of the Environment and Heritage NSW, Local GovernmentNSW (Local), The
Government of NSW (State), The Australian Government (National) and The United Nations
(International) seem to underestimate the effects of plastic and general marine pollution. Most
government agencies seem to be more worried with economic issues of the clean up and
enforcement costs. Resources like the fishing and tourism industries, public opinion, government
policies, laws and legislations, future elections, risks of high unemployment rates if major
corporations are taxed excessively or policies such as Extended Producer Responsibility are
enforced may affect the economy and the health of the population and the environment. On the
other hand, Non government stake holders such as Boomerang Alliance (Local), Clean up Australia
(National) and Greenpeace (International) are trying to raise awareness for the issue and educating
the public on the long term negative effects of plastic marine pollution and preserving the health of
the environment and oceans for the future generations to come (Plastic Pollution Coalition, 2017).
A variety of these nongovernment organisations are raising funds to help with cleaning up the
environment and putting pressure on the governments locally, nationally and internationally to
recognise the global impact of plastic marine pollution and take responsibility for the damage this
pollution causes and help with the clean up and maintenance of the marine environment to keep the
problem under control. Although there are major corporations as stakeholders that are trying to
help and support the clean up of the environment such as Coca Cola Amatil, Nestle, Schweppes

of packaging that they use for their

The Effects Of HIV Testing In Pregnant Women
HIV can be transmitted from an HIV infected mother to her newborn child. According to the World
Health Organization (WHO), without antiretroviral treatment of the mother, up to 30% of infants
born to HIV positive mother s become infected with HIV themselves. The number increases to
35% 50% if the mother breastfeeds the baby (aidsinfonet, 2014). The risk of HIVtransmission to the
infant from the mother decreases significantly if the mother used antiretrovirals throughout
pregnancy and labor. If the mother does not breastfeed, the HIV transmission risk is also decreased
(aidsinfonet, 2014). Health education relating to pregnant women and infants and HIV is necessary,

A second HIV test in the third trimester is recommended for women who are at a high risk of
contracting HIV. This would include women whose partners are known to be HIV positive, and
for those women who have had sexual intercourse with a new partner during the pregnancy
(Prevention, An Opt Out Approach to HIV Screening, 2017). HIV testing in the third trimester is
also recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention if the pregnant women are
in a geographic region that has a high prevalence of HIV (Prevention, An Opt Out Approach to
HIV Screening, 2017). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Opt out
approach can increase the number of pregnant women tested for HIV, which leads to an increase
of pregnant women who are aware of their HIV status (Prevention, An Opt Out Approach to HIV
Screening, 2017). The Opt out approach also increases the number of HIV infected women who
are offered treatment which would lead to a reduction in vertical HIV transmission (Prevention, An
Opt Out Approach to HIV Screening, 2017). Family planning, as well as preconception
counseling, should be made available women of childbearing age who are living with HIV. It is
essential that childbearing intentions be discussed with women of childbearing age living with

Summary Of America s Ice Age
The documentary America s Ice Age presented a lot of information, some of which I already
knew. However, I also learned a lot of new information, and still have questions about some of
what I learned. I learned that nearly two thirds of North America was covered in ice when the
largest glaciers were around, and that these glaciers contained 39 thousand cubic miles of water.
I also learned that the glaciers left chatter marks, grooves in bedrock caused by glacial plucking,
on the top of Bear Mountain, 1280 feet above sea level, which meant that 17 million cubic miles
of ice covered North America, equaling about 68 thousand trillion tons. I also learned that a coral
stone quarry was found six miles from the current coast in Florida, and one mile down from the...

I knew that both lateral and terminal moraines are formed when rocks and sediment are moved by
glaciers, and that these moraines are left on the sides and front of glaciers, respectively. To me, this
suggests that the rocks could only be deposited in lateral moraines, or in the terminal moraines if
the glacier stops, changes directions drastically, or decreases in weight severely. If none of this
occurs, the boulders will continue to be pushed. Therefore, the boulders mark the farthest
outreach of one glacier, as long as no smaller glaciers occurred afterwards. One question that I
have is: how long did it take for the largest glaciers to retreat to approximately the size of our
glaciers today, if it ever did? Even though the movie repeatedly showed an digital animation
showing the amount of snow and ice coverage in North America, the digital animation didn t have
any sort of a time scale. This animation showed that the glaciers covered most of North America,
then retreated at some point, and increased in coverage again. I still am curious about how long it
took for each of these transitions to

Oral Mucosa At The Macroscopic Level
The oral mucosa is a specialized tissue lining the oral cavity and consists of the following
components: (1) the masticatory mucosa, which lines the gingiva and the hard palate; (2) the
specialized mucosa covering the dorsum of the tongue; and (3) the lining mucosa which covers the
reminder of the oral cavity [201, 202]. The gingivais considered an adaptation of the oral
masticatory mucosa covering the alveolar bone and surrounding the cervical portions of teeth. The
gingiva protects the roots of teeth, and underlying alveolar bone from mechanical trauma and
serves as the first line of defence against bacteria by preventing it from reaching the deeper
structures [201, 203]. The gingiva can be demarcated into several zones at the macroscopic (as
perceived by the unaided eye) and the microscopic levels according to anatomy or/ and function.
2.3.1.2.1Oral mucosa at the macroscopic level
The normal healthy appearance of the gingiva is coral pink with a scalloped coronal border known
as the free gingival margin. The free gingival margin is approximately located 1.5 to 2 mm coronal
to the cementoenamel junction (CEJ) in healthy fully erupted teeth [204]. On the other end, the
gingiva becomes continuous with the loose, red lining mucosa known as the alveolar mucosa . The
alveolar mucosa differs in colour since it has a thin non keratinized epithelium and loose connective
tissues that contain numerous blood vessels but no rete pegs. Typically, the gingiva can be easily

Spain Has A Free Market Economy
Spain has a free market economy like a great number of developed countries, however, its
employment laws and regulations have caused its economy to sputter and remain weak when
compared to its European and American counterparts. Most Spanish companies will have written
employment contracts, even though not required, for its workers. Working hours within Spainare
closely monitored and must not exceed an annual average of 40 hours per week, with 80
maximum hours of overtime per year. Holiday and leave time in Spain is considered very
generous; maternity leave is a minimum of 16 weeks and there cannot be less than 30 calendar
holidays per year. Minimum wagein Spain is just above the European average of 712 euro per
month. However, Spain has struggled with unemployment over the past several decades and has
hovered around 20 25 percent over the last 5 years. A great deal of Spain s economic and
employment issues can be traced back to its dictatorship which ended in 1975, the country is still
feeling the effects of the strict workforce regulations, such as a ban on unions, that were in place
at the time. Expatriates are welcome to work in Spain but will face difficult work permit
procedures and fierce competition from Spaniards who are out of work. A positive aspect of
employment law in Spain is the comprehensive anti discriminatory regulations that apply to both
Spanish and foreign nationals.

Iva Park Trail Short Story Report
It was always a joy for the trail crew to call in the mules and horses early in the morning from the
lush, Leprechaun green government pasture down in Red s Meadow on a sweet, warm summer s
day. The animals really loved it too, as they munched on mush from feed bags tied around their
necks. They would get so frisky and spunky from feeling their oats that they would deposit road
apples in the corral. This was soon stomped into the dirt and completely overwhelmed the fresh,
fragrant smell of flowers, meadow and forest.
After they were fed it was time to brush, saddle, pack and place each mule in its unique position in
the string. Each animal found its place in the string depending on its own temperament, skills and
personality.

It was a big land that humbled the little crew, as they ventured into the backcountry to repair the
trails that the American people so dearly love.
When they finally reached Iva Belle, they decided to set up camp in their favorite location,
above the meadow and in the Lodgepole Pine trees. Packers and trail crews always have a
favorite spot that they go to, and this was it. The men were tired from the long ride but knew
they must take care of the animals first. They threw up a hitch line between some trees and
tethered each animal to it. They unpacked, unsaddled and watered the stock one by one at a
small creek nearby. Camp was set up quickly in their special, organized way with a kitchen,
latrine and tent pads. Firewood was gathered and dinner ready to go within an hour. Everyone felt
very satisfied after eating a fresh salad, steak, corn on the cob and ice cold beer. Mule packing was
definitely the life of luxury in the backcountry.
Most of the trail crew had heard stories about the notorious history of Iva Belle Hot Springs in the
60s, when it was rumored that naked hippies wandered aimlessly, stoned on LSD, doing God only
knows what in the water bubbling up from the bowels of the earth.
At the mention of this, the boss said to the crew, Let s take the halters off the stock and let them

Juxtaposition King Lear
Essay Question: Alexander Pope has said that King Lear is a play that centre around opposition and
juxtaposition. Discuss with reference to symbolism, metaphor, motif, plot or character whether you
believe the statement is accurate.
King Lear is about the tragic events and the conflicts between fathers and their children. In the play
King Lear written by William Shakespeare has many motifs and symbolism throughout the play.
Alexander Pope was an English poet who had said King Lear is a play centered around opposition
and juxtaposition. Although there is a parallel story between King Lear and Gloucester, the motifs
and symbolism in this play contrasts from one another in different ways. I believe what Alexander
Pope has said was quite accurate because of the motifs and symbolism that affects one another with
a juxtaposition affect.
Many of the motifs and symbolism in the play are opposites from one another. One of the motifs
that happens frequently throughout the play was loyalty and betrayal. In the play Lear has
three daughters named Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. This happened in the beginning of the
play where King Lear wanted to retire and give bigger portions of his land based on the daughter
who loved him most. Goneril and Regan praised their love for Lear but Cordelia refused to do
so. In Act 1 Scene 1 (Li 101 102), Cordelia says ...I love your Majesty, according to my bond no
more no less. This indicates that although Cordelia loves Lear very dearly she refused to lie to
get land from her father. Unlike her sisters who have boasted about their love for Lear who they
don t love him to that extent and lies. It seems as if Cordelia is the sign of betrayal but Cordelia
is actually a sign of loyalty because she refuses to love her father in such a way of getting
inheritance where Cordelia wants to love her father in a genuine way. She represents loyalty and
honesty to her father in this part of the play. While Goneril and Regan represents the lies and
foreshadows the sign of betrayal. These two signs are opposites from one another and it creates a
juxtaposition affect. Not only does this part of the play represent betrayal, loyalty, lies and honesty
but it also has a sign of sight. The reason is because

Walter Disney Accomplishments
Walter Elias Disney once said If you can dream it, you can do it. This is his most famous quote.
He never gave up on anything, which is mostly why everything he has done is amazing. Walter
Disney s most important accomplishments in life are impacting mass media, creating all of the
Disney companies, and showing society what imagination is. Walter Disney has made such a big
impact on how animators make animation and movies. Walter Disney is the person behind the
inspiration for many of the movie ideas today. Walter Disney has changed the way people made
movies. According to Taylor, a disney insider, author, animation is synonymous with Disney (and
vice versa), with each of these new innovations (1,2). He made it so instead of making

John D. Rockefeller s Role In The Oil Industry
John D. Rockefeller, last but not least, came from a fairly poor family life just like Carnegie did;
his father was a vendor while his mother was the primary housekeeper (Folsom, 1988, para. 3).
After high school, Rockefeller studied such subjects as finance and bookkeeping in college and
soon put them to work as an assistant, and eventually head, bookkeeper for a produce and
commission business (The Linux Information Project, 2006, John D. Rockefellersection, para. 1;
The Rockefeller Archive Center, 1997, para. 3). Once Rockefeller was in the oil industry, he
revolutionized it by presenting new uses for by products of the refining process (Folsom, 1988,
Discovering Crude Oil section, para. 9). The other main strategy employed by Rockefeller

An Organism Of Unknown Origin
Introduction: An organism of unknown origin was selected by the course instructor in an effort
to properly identify the organism with the utilization of a series of biochemical tests. This
exercise was of extreme importance during the termination of the course because it was essential
that each student be able to apply the practical knowledge learned through class lectures, and lab
practicals in an effort to individualize such experience so that each student could properly
handle a bacterial culture and identify its origin. In essence, the task of identifying the selected
organism via various test is essential in order to determine key features of such organism. The
test results ultimately disclose how the organism functions, and this information is useful for
proper identification and handling of such culture. Materials and methods: The identification of
the unknown organism was first tested using a Gram s staining procedure. This test uses a
series of dyes and liquid solutions that give a bacterial smear a color contrast and aid in its
identification. This method differentiates bacteria based on the thickness of their peptidoglycan
composed cell walls. This Gram s staining test was initiated by first donning gloves and obtaining
a clean microscopic slide which was cleaned with alcohol. The slide was then marked with a culture
number, and a circle was made in the center with a marker. A drop of water was placed in the
center and the excess was absorbed. A wire loop was

The Best Practices Of Determining A Budget
Every company relies on accurate budget estimates in order to provide the correct amount of
allocated dollars in a budget plan that the company develops. Most companies develop budgets
that look at least two years into the future. Each company is different, however typically most
expect their projected budgets to be within 10% less or 25% more of the projected budget
(Schwalbe 281). In order to do this, managers must allocate project costs to individual work items
over the lifetime of the project. Project managers will create a cost baseline (time phased budget)
in order to measure and monitor the performance of their projects over the projects duration. Any
changes or updates that are needed should be changed and reflected in a newly updated budget.
Real time budget updates are vital in order to avoid financial problems. Ultimately, budgeting
provides a prediction of the projects funding requirements. This article will go into detail about the
best practices of determining a budget, and how they can be innovated for a better approach in the
future.
In his book, Tactical Issues Best Practice Solutions in Budgeting, Stephan Hunt discusses five focus
areas that make up the best practice of determining a budget. These areas include: rolling forecasts,
increased participation of operational owners, link detail to accountability, end user analysis, and
driver based forecasting and budgeting (Hunt 3).
First, this paper will explain why rolling forecasts are considered a

Parents Not Bureaucrats Should Decide What Kids Eat Summary
Should the government control what children eat or don t eat, or should parents step up to the plate
and decide what their own children should eat. The two articles, Parents, not bureaucrats, should
decide what kids eat by Daren Bakst, and First lady s fight for healthier food needs broad support by
William Rice both take a turn on the national issue of healthy eating. Daren Bakst states that it
should be parents that instruct their children on how they should eat and the government should not
interfere with this decision, even at school. But on the other hand William Rice explains that the
obesity rate is rising steadily each year and that we cannot afford not to put a plan into action. Even
with these differences both articles use the same tactics to share information throughout. Parents,

In Parents, not bureaucrats, should decide what kids eat Darren Bakst initiates a strong argument
by describing what would happen if the government had control over what children eat, for
example, School boards cannot ignore the higher costs and operational issues created by the rigid
mandates of the Health, Hunger Free Kids Act (Bakst 12). But on the other hand, author of First
lady s fight for healthier food needs broad support , William Rice combats the argument of Darren
Bakst by stating, Organizations that work most intensively to promote good nutrition, such as the
Food Research and Action Center, and most closely, with students, such as the National Education
Association, wholeheartedly support the meal standards and are fighting efforts to water them
down (Rice 12).This shows that these two articles are contrary of each other; however, they both
use strong evidence and wording to prove their

Synaptic Activity Is Vital For The Passage Of Information...
Synaptic activity is vital for the passage of information throughout the nervous system, as it allows
for electrical impulses to be passed from one neuron to another. Electrical impulses in the form of
action potentials are passed through the axon of a neuron towards the axon terminal. This
information is then passed across the synaptic cleft to receptors present on the postsynaptic
membrane via the process of neurotransmission. Drugs can interrupt this specific process in a
variety of ways such as through affecting the production, storage and release of neurotransmitters,
the presynaptic and postsynaptic receptors as well as the reuptake and destruction of
neurotransmitters (Carlson, 2014). Selective SerotoninReuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) and Monoamine
Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) are just two types of drugs which can affect different pathways in this
process of neurotransmission. In doing so, the neurotransmitterserotonin is made more available
within the central nervous system (CNS), a neurotransmitter believed to be central to the affective
disorder of depression, which is caused by a deficiency of serotonin.
The process of neurotransmission begins with an action potential. An action potential can be
described as the brief electrical impulse that provides the basis for conduction of information along
an axon (Carlson, 2014), and is determined by the movement of ions through ion channels in or out
of a cell, depending on the permeability of the membrane, forces of

Modernism Vs Imperialism
Modernization has always been the objective for growing colonies and empires. The current
generation of today s time still aims to modernize and grow as a nation. However, the past holds
many mistakes and misconceptions about how the world can continue to modernize given specific
circumstances and factors. Today, historians, citizens and many others look over these past events
and learn from the complications made from previous leaders. One great example of a horrific
imperial occurrence is portrayed by King Leopold II of Belgium. Within his time of ruling he
displayed manipulation, ignorance and gruesome consequences of corruption. He took the
opportunity to create prosperity out of the Congo Free Stateand turned it cold with unethical
dishonesty, brutality and corrupt power. With all of his planning going to waste, King Leopold
showed all of history how combining imperialism with modernity can turn to the absolute worst
for humanity. To begin, imperialism had always been a long term system of governing. Empires
were built, colonies were created, and growth occurred to make today s world. It was always
seen that the king of an empire knew what was best for his nation. He was given the power to
make impacting decisions and lead his empire to success. However, many kings were found
corrupted and abused their powers for their own benefit. King Leopold used his skills to try to
persuade his people and neighboring nations into believing that the CongoState was the best

Female Stereotypes In The Media Essay
Female Stereotypes In The Media
In the media the most common female stereotypes, are the housewife and the blonde bimbo.
The Housewife. Chained to the kitchen sink, always cleaning and cooking. An old stereotype.
In the advertisement for Shake `n Vac a woman is doing the vacuuming and dancing around
shaking Shake `n Vac on the floor. This is a stereotypefor the reason that a man is nowhere to be
found. But in advertisements for intelligent matters like finance, it s always a man.
At first, when I saw the advertisement for Mc Cain s chips, I thought the woman in it wasn t
stereotypical, as she was not cooking the meal, the man was. But after a while I saw that this was

For instance, I saw an advertisement in which a woman was showing some people round her house.
She shows them the rooms and then she says, ГґAnd here s my garage,Г¶ and you see this room
with white ceilings, white wallpaper, cupboards and lights and a car. This was meant to be
humorous showing that this woman went to the extreme of even tiding up her garage.
The Blonde Bimbo. Long or fluffy hair, revealing clothes. Sometimes dumb, not able to use
machines, dependant on her man, not able to do anything, can t control her emotions over men.
When I watched the TV to find some examples of stereotypes, the first thing I saw was a trailer for
a documentary about David Bailey. Included were lots of female models. They were all skinny,
they had really thick make up on and lots of them were blonde. The dialogue included ГґThe
photographer slept with 300 womenö and one of his models saying, ôYeah I ll get my tits out for
him.Г¶ The trailer was representing all of the models as sluts.
Changing the channel to Challenge TV some more stereotypes of women appeared. The females
on the show were the presenter of the game show, Donna Air, who had long curly blonde hair,
and a shirt with half the buttons not done up showing off her bra, and a contestant who also had
blonde hair, had big boobs, and was wearing a low cut top and was referred to by the other host as

  • 2. Carrying Capacity Carrying Capacity The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don t do anything about it (Albert Einstein). In our world today people are ignorant. Humans use their imagination too much and their brain too little. Also, people don t do anything to solve their problems because we think nothing could go wrong, we expect others do fix everything. That is where we re wrong. Today lots of people are saying the world won t reach a carrying capacity, but I disagree. I think the world will reach its carrying capacity before 2100. The rates of people who don t get enough to eat is skyrocketing. People are becoming homeless because of competition on jobs and much more. Everything is getting more expensive and some people can t afford what they need. The website worldhunger.org tells us about how there is enough food on this earth for everyone to get a good meal. So what s stopping us? Greediness and expensiveness. Today we have one big problem; Natural Disasters. Everything else is kind of preventable and fixable, but not Natural Disasters, they are indomitable and inevitable. We have: Tornadoes, Tsunamis, Volcano Eruptions, Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Monsoons and much more. Global Warming has affected us too. Lots of things effect on us, but it s not the effect it has, but how it affects our ability to get over it. When a big tornado hits and kills a lot of people, what do we do? We let it get a hold on us; fear takes over and we scramble for our only chance hope. We hide. So after a big storm happens and lots of people are killed we still don t do the big thing. We don t help. Some people like the Red Cross and other Organizations, help the people in need, but a lot of people still stay in their cushy lives. They don t help them. If we can t help them over the inevitable, than how can we help them with things we can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Simone De Beauvoir And Frantz Fanon Simone de Beauvoir and Frantz Fanon were both interested in the experiences of marginalized groups, women and black men respectively. In The Second Sex, De Beauvoir discusses the history of domination women have experienced at the hands of the superior group, men. In Black Skin, White Masks, Fanon explains and analyzes the experiences of black men in the wake of colonialism and up to modern times. Both authors not only address the ways in which women and black men are dominated by others, but also the ways in which the oppressed group participates, often unknowingly, in the systems of their own domination. According to De Beauvoir, women participate in their own domination by embracing the benefits given to them by men, by fulfilling expectations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From birth, girls are taught that they are to act a certain way, and when they become women, they perpetuate these norms by fulfilling them. We are exhorted to be women, remain women, become women... , De Beauvoir writes, ...it would appear, then, that every female human being is not necessarily a woman; to be so considered she must share in that mysterious and threatened reality known as femininity . This femininity makes a female person a woman. For example, [a woman] must become a passive thing, a promise of submission and, conversely, if [a woman] is proud and demanding, woman meets the male as an adversary and is decidedly not feminine. Shut up in her flesh, her home, she sees herself as passive before these gods with human faces who set goals and establish values , and this acceptance and participation in traditional femininity perpetuates societal beliefs that women, or at least acceptable women, are inferior naturally. By doing this, women participate in the continuation of their domination by men, who society believes are more naturally suited for superiority. Furthermore, The woman that does not conform devalues herself sexually, and hence socially, since sexual values are an integral feature of society . This quote shows that, according to De Beauvoir, women have little ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Companies in Australia are governed by the corporation s act, which outlines the legal capacity and power of a company. The Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) s 57A1, defines a corporation as a separate legal entity, that includes any corporate body and unincorporated bodies that may sue, be sued or hold property in the name of an office holder appointed for that purpose. Although it may be contradicting to the directors best interest for the company, by spending an amount on volunteering programs, such as the hunger project to help extinguish famine in poor countries, it also helps the company to build a better image that in turn, could be advantageous to the directors. 4.0 Issues of importance The push for company reporting to include CSR related information in annual reports is of utmost importance, given the prominence of corporate influence in today s society. The recommendation to implement triple bottom line reporting would increase the extent to which companies are taking responsibility for the consequences of their actions, in relation to corporate activities that touch on environmental or other issues of community concern13 The implementation of the policy requiring companies to establish a corporate Social Responsibility Committee are ... Marshall, a 36 year old craftsman and jack of all trades, saw a few splendid bits of yellow mineral close to a sawmill that he was working for John A. Sutter, a Swiss conceived foreigner who claimed one of the colossal farms that spotted Californias Sacramento Valley. To test if the bits were trick s gold, which smashs when struck by a mallet, or gold, which is pliant, Marshall attempted it between two shakes, and found that it could be beaten into an alternate shape yet not broken. REVIEW OF LITERATURE The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Biosynthesis of glycyrrhizin is not fully elucidated at gene level. The early stages of triterpenoid saponin biosynthesis via isoprenoid pathway involve the dimerization of two molecules of farnesyl diphosphate catalyzed by squalene synthase, epoxidase mediated oxidation then produces 2,3 oxidosqualene. The first diversifying step in triterpenoid biosynthesis is the cyclization of 2,3 oxidosqualene a common substrate of oxidosqualene cyclases (OSCs) and a precursor of both triterpenes and sterols [Abe et al., 1993]. The biosynthesis of glycyrrhizin involves the initial cyclization of 2, 3 oxidosqualene by a specific OSC, ОІ amyrin synthase (bAS), to the primarily oleanane triterpene ОІ amyrin which is one of the most commonly occurring triterpenes in plants. The subsequent steps involve a series of oxidative reactions at positions C 11 (two step oxidation) and C 30 (three step oxidation), followed by glycosyl transfers to the C 3 hydroxyl group. Genes involved in the early stages of glycyrrhizin biosynthesis, namely, squalene synthase and bAS, have been functionally isolated from G. glabra [Hayashi et al., 1999, 2001]. The bAS gene has also been functionally isolated from several other plants including Arabidopsis thaliana [Shibuya et al., 2009], Avena strigosa [Qi et al., 2004], Lotus japonicus [Sawai et al., 2006], and Medicago truncatula [Suzuki et al., 2002]; however, most of the steps in the modification of the ... • 10. Aboriginals Are The Indigenous People Of Australia Aboriginals are the indigenous people of Australia. Australia was invaded by the British in 1788 and forced the Aboriginals off their land and into training camps and reserves (Murray, 2001). The Aboriginal population greatly declined due to diseases introduced by the British and the lack of nutrition; the invasion also disconnected nations from one another (Murry, 2001). There are over five hundred nations in Australia, and many of them are still hunter gathers living in remote areas of Australia (Altman, 2007). Aboriginals believe that people and the environment are split into two halves: one half mirrors the other which represents land, air, water, and geographical features (Riley, 2014). They also believe that to understand the universe, the two mirror images must come together. In traditional nations and languages, they have their own guidelines for moiety (Riley, 2014). Children will either inherit the mother s or the father s moiety and can only marry someone with a different moiety (Riley, 2014). People who have the same moiety are considered siblings and support one another (Riley, 2014). When support is provided by someone, it is to be paid back by either the person receiving the support or by someone in the family (Riley, 2014). Aboriginals don t have cousins comparable to modern cultures; they have brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers (Riley, 2014). Totems Totems comprise the second level of the kinship system; they create a balance among the nations (Riley, 2014). Every person receives their own totem which becomes their responsibility, and each person has four totems that represent their nation, clan, family and individuality (Riley, 2014). Totems link a person to the universe and symbolize their strengths and weaknesses (Riley, 2014). Harassment and bullyingare related because they each have to do with someone hurting another person, but nonetheless, they are utterly different. Also, another objective of the research is to understand whether data analysis can be used to improve the shelf management and whether the inferences from such data analysis for a number of stores in a single supermarket can be characterized to be standard across the board or whether the output of such analysis should only be used in a particular store from which data was collected. Research Questions This research will concentrate the efforts on answering the below questions: 1.How does shelf management affect the sales of the product? Whether the sales of a product which was already selling well, decrease because of a shift in the shelf space? Or does the sales of a product which was not selling before improve because of a change in the shelf space? 2.Which position on the shelf space has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Differences Between The North And The South In The 1800s During the early 19th century, especially before the American Revolution and after the War of 1812, American society has changed greatly. According to McWhirter, McWhirter, McWhirter, and McWhirter (2013), resilience is the capacity to adapt and function successfully despite experiencing chronic stress and adversity (p. 130). Resilience is also the ability to come back from a negative situation and turn the adversity into something positive (Prince Embury, 2015). When adolescents are placed in a stressful or difficult situation, they strive to make the best of it; however, there are some adolescents who struggle to make the best of the situation they are in, which leads to risky behavior. All of these activities serve as protective factors for at risk youth, and help adolescents develop resiliency. Adolescents rely on their peers, youth leaders, coaches, and teachers to help them develop resilience. One of the risks of depending on peers to help develop resilience is peer group pressure can be either a very powerful ally or a formidable antagonist, dissuading or encouraging problem behavior (McWhirter et al, 2013, p. 116). As a result, it is imperative for adolescents to choose their friends wisely, especially if they come from a difficult home background. If none of this occurs, the boulders will continue to be pushed. Therefore, the boulders mark the farthest outreach of one glacier, as long as no smaller glaciers occurred afterwards. The gingivais considered an adaptation of the oral masticatory mucosa covering the alveolar bone and surrounding the cervical portions of teeth. The gingiva protects the roots of teeth, and underlying alveolar bone from mechanical trauma and serves as the first line of defence against bacteria by preventing it from reaching the deeper structures [201, 203]. Discuss with reference to symbolism, metaphor, motif, plot or character whether you believe the statement is accurate. King Lear is about the tragic events and the conflicts between fathers and their children. In the play King Lear written by William Shakespeare has many motifs and symbolism throughout the play. Alexander Pope was an English poet who had said King Lear is a play centered around opposition and juxtaposition. Although there is a parallel story between King Lear and Gloucester, the motifs and symbolism in this play contrasts from one another in different ways. I believe what Alexander Pope has said was quite accurate because of the motifs and symbolism that affects one another with a juxtaposition affect. Many of the motifs and symbolism in the play are opposites from one another. One of the motifs that happens frequently throughout the play was loyalty and betrayal. In the play Lear has three daughters named Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. This happened in the beginning of the play where King Lear wanted to retire and give bigger portions of his land based on the daughter who loved him most. Goneril and Regan praised their love for Lear but Cordelia refused to do so. In Act 1 Scene 1 (Li 101 102), Cordelia says ...I love your Majesty, according to my bond no more no less. This indicates that although Cordelia loves Lear very dearly she refused to lie to get land from her father. Unlike her sisters who have boasted about their love for Lear who they don t love him to that extent and lies. It seems as if Cordelia is the sign of betrayal but Cordelia is actually a sign of loyalty because she refuses to love her father in such a way of getting inheritance where Cordelia wants to love her father in a genuine way. She represents loyalty and honesty to her father in this part of the play. While Goneril and Regan represents the lies and foreshadows the sign of betrayal. These two signs are opposites from one another and it creates a juxtaposition affect. • 41. An Organism Of Unknown Origin Introduction: An organism of unknown origin was selected by the course instructor in an effort to properly identify the organism with the utilization of a series of biochemical tests. This exercise was of extreme importance during the termination of the course because it was essential that each student be able to apply the practical knowledge learned through class lectures, and lab practicals in an effort to individualize such experience so that each student could properly handle a bacterial culture and identify its origin. In essence, the task of identifying the selected organism via various test is essential in order to determine key features of such organism. The test results ultimately disclose how the organism functions, and this information is useful for proper identification and handling of such culture. Materials and methods: The identification of the unknown organism was first tested using a Gram s staining procedure. This test uses a series of dyes and liquid solutions that give a bacterial smear a color contrast and aid in its identification. This method differentiates bacteria based on the thickness of their peptidoglycan composed cell walls. This Gram s staining test was initiated by first donning gloves and obtaining a clean microscopic slide which was cleaned with alcohol. The slide was then marked with a culture number, and a circle was made in the center with a marker. A drop of water was placed in the center and the excess was absorbed. A wire loop was ... • 42. The Best Practices Of Determining A Budget Every company relies on accurate budget estimates in order to provide the correct amount of allocated dollars in a budget plan that the company develops. Most companies develop budgets that look at least two years into the future. Each company is different, however typically most expect their projected budgets to be within 10% less or 25% more of the projected budget (Schwalbe 281). In order to do this, managers must allocate project costs to individual work items over the lifetime of the project. Project managers will create a cost baseline (time phased budget) in order to measure and monitor the performance of their projects over the projects duration. Any changes or updates that are needed should be changed and reflected in a newly updated budget. Real time budget updates are vital in order to avoid financial problems. Ultimately, budgeting provides a prediction of the projects funding requirements. This article will go into detail about the best practices of determining a budget, and how they can be innovated for a better approach in the future. In his book, Tactical Issues Best Practice Solutions in Budgeting, Stephan Hunt discusses five focus areas that make up the best practice of determining a budget. These areas include: rolling forecasts, increased participation of operational owners, link detail to accountability, end user analysis, and driver based forecasting and budgeting (Hunt 3). Parents Not Bureaucrats Should Decide What Kids Eat Summary Should the government control what children eat or don t eat, or should parents step up to the plate and decide what their own children should eat. The two articles, Parents, not bureaucrats, should decide what kids eat by Daren Bakst, and First lady s fight for healthier food needs broad support by William Rice both take a turn on the national issue of healthy eating. Daren Bakst states that it should be parents that instruct their children on how they should eat and the government should not interfere with this decision, even at school. But on the other hand William Rice explains that the obesity rate is rising steadily each year and that we cannot afford not to put a plan into action. Even with these differences both articles use the same tactics to share information throughout. Parents, not bureaucrats, should decide... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Parents, not bureaucrats, should decide what kids eat Darren Bakst initiates a strong argument by describing what would happen if the government had control over what children eat, for example, School boards cannot ignore the higher costs and operational issues created by the rigid mandates of the Health, Hunger Free Kids Act (Bakst 12). But on the other hand, author of First lady s fight for healthier food needs broad support , William Rice combats the argument of Darren Bakst by stating, Organizations that work most intensively to promote good nutrition, such as the Food Research and Action Center, and most closely, with students, such as the National Education Association, wholeheartedly support the meal standards and are fighting efforts to water them down (Rice 12).This shows that these two articles are contrary of each other; however, they both use strong evidence and wording to prove their ... • 44. Synaptic Activity Is Vital For The Passage Of Information... Synaptic activity is vital for the passage of information throughout the nervous system, as it allows for electrical impulses to be passed from one neuron to another. Electrical impulses in the form of action potentials are passed through the axon of a neuron towards the axon terminal. This information is then passed across the synaptic cleft to receptors present on the postsynaptic membrane via the process of neurotransmission. Drugs can interrupt this specific process in a variety of ways such as through affecting the production, storage and release of neurotransmitters, the presynaptic and postsynaptic receptors as well as the reuptake and destruction of neurotransmitters (Carlson, 2014). Selective SerotoninReuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) and Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) are just two types of drugs which can affect different pathways in this process of neurotransmission. In doing so, the neurotransmitterserotonin is made more available within the central nervous system (CNS), a neurotransmitter believed to be central to the affective disorder of depression, which is caused by a deficiency of serotonin. The process of neurotransmission begins with an action potential. An action potential can be described as the brief electrical impulse that provides the basis for conduction of information along an axon (Carlson, 2014), and is determined by the movement of ions through ion channels in or out of a cell, depending on the permeability of the membrane, forces of ... • 46. Modernism Vs Imperialism Modernization has always been the objective for growing colonies and empires. The current generation of today s time still aims to modernize and grow as a nation. However, the past holds many mistakes and misconceptions about how the world can continue to modernize given specific circumstances and factors. Today, historians, citizens and many others look over these past events and learn from the complications made from previous leaders. One great example of a horrific imperial occurrence is portrayed by King Leopold II of Belgium. Within his time of ruling he displayed manipulation, ignorance and gruesome consequences of corruption. He took the opportunity to create prosperity out of the Congo Free Stateand turned it cold with unethical dishonesty, brutality and corrupt power. With all of his planning going to waste, King Leopold showed all of history how combining imperialism with modernity can turn to the absolute worst for humanity. To begin, imperialism had always been a long term system of governing. Empires were built, colonies were created, and growth occurred to make today s world. It was always seen that the king of an empire knew what was best for his nation. He was given the power to make impacting decisions and lead his empire to success. Chained to the kitchen sink, always cleaning and cooking. An old stereotype. In the advertisement for Shake `n Vac a woman is doing the vacuuming and dancing around shaking Shake `n Vac on the floor. This is a stereotypefor the reason that a man is nowhere to be found. But in advertisements for intelligent matters like finance, it s always a man. This was meant to be humorous showing that this woman went to the extreme of even tiding up her garage. The Blonde Bimbo. Long or fluffy hair, revealing clothes. Sometimes dumb, not able to use machines, dependant on her man, not able to do anything, can t control her emotions over men. When I watched the TV to find some examples of stereotypes, the first thing I saw was a trailer for a documentary about David Bailey. Included were lots of female models. They were all skinny, they had really thick make up on and lots of them were blonde. The dialogue included ГґThe photographer slept with 300 womenГ¶ and one of his models saying, ГґYeah I ll get my tits out for him.Г¶ The trailer was representing all of the models as sluts.
