The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission
The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, also known as the TRC, was formed to
help the nation deal with the horrific events that occurred under apartheid. It served many purposes
including: to allow individuals to find out the truth of crimes committed during the time period,
grant amnesty from the government for individuals who confessed the whole truth, and to allow
the country as a whole to reconcile and forgive all who contributed to apartheid. These TRC trials
were aired nationwide on television. It created a safe ground for citizens to voice the accounts of
violence unleashed on them by the government and an opportunity for perpetrators to come
forward. The reconciliation of South Africawas achieved by the formalized process of the TRC,
with the goal of restoration.
The Gugulethu trial is a prime example of how forgiveness among individuals may be possible.
As seen in the courtroom screening scene of the hysterical mothers of the victims, these trials
could be very emotional for the families of the victims. Seven young men accused of being hostile
terrorists were gunned down by police officers. The explanation for the orders for shooting the
young men were because they appeared as threats to police as they attempted to arrest the men.
When Mbelo confronts the families, the mother s of the seven men initially reject his apology.
However by the end of the confrontation, one of the victim s son tells Mbelo that he forgives him.

Internal Revenue Service Policy
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the revenue service of the United States federal government.
The government agency is a bureau of the Department of the Treasury, and is under the immediate
direction of the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. The IRS is responsible for collecting taxes and
the administration of the Internal Revenue Code. It has also overseen various benefit programs, and
enforces portions of the Affordable Care Act.
The first income tax was assessed in 1862 to raise funds for the American Civil War, with a rate of
3%. Today the IRS collects over $2.4 trillion each tax year. It processes around 234 million tax
returns annually.
Tax Free Insurance from IRS:
Employers payments covering premiums for employer sponsored health insurance are exempt from
federal income and payroll taxes. Any portion of premiums paid by the employee is typically
excluded from taxable income and is therefore also tax free, although some employers require
employees to pay their share of premiums out of after tax income. The exclusion of premiums
lowers most workers tax bills and thus reduces their after tax cost of health insurance coverage.
This effective tax subsidy is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider a worker in the 15 percent bracket who also (in effect) pays a combined (employer and
employee) payroll tax of 15.3 percent. If his insurance premium is $1,000, his taxes fall by
$303, that is, 30.3 percent (15 percent + 15.3 percent) of $1,000. His after tax cost of health
insurance is thus $1,000 less $303, or $697. In contrast, a worker in the 25 percent bracket faces
a total tax rate of 40.3 percent (25 percent + 15.3 percent). For her, the after tax cost of a $1,000
premium is just $597 ($1,000 minus 40.3 percent of $1,000). Savings on state and local taxes could

Creative Writing On Nursing Home
The Bright Spot in My Day One morning bright and early, I went to the nursing home near my
home to do a community service project. The plan was for me to meet Ms. Clara Mae who is a
resident there. My expectations for the day were not the best, I dreaded the smell of being in a
nursing home. As I approached room 406, I noticed a faint lemonsmell that floated around the hall.
I cautiously tapped on her wooden door and noticed a festive, fall wreath hanging crookedly by
her mailbox. Ms. Clara Mae? A small tinkling voice called out, Come in! As I entered her room, I
noticed lemon yellowcurtains hanging in the window with a yellow and white quilt on her bed with
butterflies stitched on it. At first, I did not see her. She... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This lady is a jewel! With that we became friends. She asked about my family and we talked
about hers. She asked about my school, and we talked about where she went. Soon, it was time
for me to go and I could not believe that the time had flown by. Ms. Clara Mae seemed sleepy and
tired and she told me that she normally took a nap before lunch. That was my cue that I must
move on to visit the other residents in the activity/recreation area. The scent of lemon wafted over
to me once again, and I realized that she had an air freshener plug in the wall nearest the window.
Evidently, she did not like the smell of nursing homes either. It suddenly hit me that she could be
me in the future! She had a similar story like me, she liked some of the same things I did, and
she had a great sense of humor. All Ms. Clara Mae needed was someone to listen to her and a
little companionship. I had learned that her family no longer visited her anymore and the only
people that saw her on a routine basis was a group that came from a church once a month. How
sad! I felt connected to her and it crushed me to leave her. She seemed to understand and
reassured me that she knew I was busy and had lots of things to do. As I stood to walk out of the
yellow room, with the one plant and no electronics, I made a pledge that I would try to be
someone that she could rely on to come visit. Then I sadly realized that I would not have the
opportunity to see her again until

The Gaia Theory And Traditional American Indian Climate
Published in 1965 by James Lovelock, the Gaia Hypothesis proposes that organism s interact with
their inorganic surrounding on Earth to form a multifaceted, self regulating structure that preserves
the circumstances of life on the planet. The theory has sparked religious, philosophical assumptions
about the evolution, and the significance of humans in influential ecological alteration, and the
association between life and the ecosystem. In this essay, I will be exploring and comparing the
Gaia hypothesisin relation to Algic indigenous tribes beliefs and ideology. Land destruction and
global warming are ecological problems that can be approached with the ideology of the Gaiatheory.

Income inequality can be defined as the difference of...
Income inequality can be defined as the difference of distribution of assets, wealth, and income
between the populations. The term income inequality refers to the inequality among persons within
a society. The topic is commonly debated, and the liberties and rights of people are often brought
into the debate being made. In America, it has been said that The 400 richest people in the United
Stateshave more wealth than the bottom 150 million put together leading the reader to believe
there is a huge inequality problem that is only growing wider. There is no doubt that the income
gap in America is growing, with the middle class taking home 9% less than they had in 1999, but I

At first glance, I feel a majority of people will answer yes, the government holds an obligation to
lessen the income gap, just as I did. However, after dissection and analysis of the question, more
questions are brought up, questions that are not so easily answered. How would the government
come about a solution to lessen the income gap? Just as I previously stated, it would be a matter of
theft from the wealthy to support the poor, and support their right to equality. This argument does
not seem viable, due to the fact that the wealthy persons rights are now being all but forgotten. The
redistribution of wealth can be simply put as taking a little from the wealthy, and sprinkling some
here and some there, as they should not need all that excess wealth. This ideology sounds like
Marxists philosophy, which does not have a history of prevailing. When the government controls
and distributes the wealth, what is the motivation to produce more? Higher level of production
would only lead to more government interference. Although there is no doubt income inequality
exists in the United States, the government does not have the obligation to lessen the gap. A
government has the obligation to protect citizen s rights, and the only means of lessening the wage
gap that I could find, violated the rights of citizens. Income inequality can be an incentive for
people. It encourages creativity necessary to allow people to climb in the ranks of

Understanding the Basics of Alzheimer
Alzheimer s disease affects the world greatly, and the numbers of victims are growing.
Alzheimer s disease affects everyone affiliated with the sufferer. Alzheimer s disease devastates
the brain and its ability to function. The issue is sensitive, complicated, and is negatively
impacting the world. Alzheimer s disease may not always be fatal, but Alzheimer s disease has
no survivors. It destroys brain cells and causes memory changes, erratic behaviors and loss of
body functions. It slowly and painfully takes away a person s identity, ability to connect with
others, think, eat, talk, walk, and find his or her way home ( What is Alzheimer s ). This tragic
disease impacts over five million people in the United States. Alzheimer s disease touches all,
and it is essential to understand the basics of Alzheimer s. By the numbers, Alzheimer s disease
looks even worse than it may be. The cost of Alzheimer s overwhelms the caregiver and everyone

industry, show by A 2002 study showed that United States businesses lost $36.5 billion that year

The Origin Of Nonverbal Communication
Whether you realize it or not, almost all of what you say doesn t come out of your mouth. In 1967,
the Journal of Consulting Psychology published a study conducted by two researchers, UCLA
professor Albert Mehrabian and Susan R. Ferris, that concluded that 93% of communication is
considered nonverbal. Nonverbal communicationcan be anything from tone of voice, body
language, and anything that doesn t come out of your mouth basically. Nonverbal communication
varies across cultures and sexes and is an essential part of our world. Knowing the facts about how
we communicate and the way we react to communication is important to increase trust, clarity, and
add interest to your presentation and appearance. Learning how to become sensitive to body
language and nonverbal cues will help you become better at portraying your intention.
Origins
The origin of nonverbal communication in our world is not quite easy to point out. On http:/
/www.study body language.com they point out two main reasons as to why this is. One is the
belief that body language evolved over time to help fill human social needs such as finding food,
needing shelter, or gathering together. Another is that there are so many different categories of
nonverbal communication. They can be divided up like traits that are universal and we are born
with or traits that we learn to use through our age and knowledge. We do have roots of the types of
communication we use such as our culture, personal habits, education and

Trench Warfare In The Trenches Essay
Soldiers within the trenches would illustrate their despair by singing, We re here because we re
here, we re here because we re here, we re here because we re here, we re here because we re here.
World War 1 was ignited and many perceived it would be quick and easy. However, as trenches
were dug, stalemate developed. The growing development of trench warfarewas evident in the
Western Front. As it revolutionized, the war slowed down, causing little victory, but high casualties

Thus, trenches began to connect, so a soldier could be supplied with food, mail from their family,
ammunition, and fresh troops. Later, trenches contained first aid stations, and some even small
kitchens. Most importantly, there were machine gun stations that would aid a soldier under attack,
and dugouts that would sustain a large amount of troops during an assault. Most soldiers could
spend up to two weeks in a trench at a time if they lived through it. First, they would spend time in
the front line trench, fighting the enemy. Then, they would progress to the support trenches, and
later rest. Even if the soldiers were not fighting, they were put to repair the trenches, move
supplies, clean weapons, and undergo inspection or guard duty. Trenches had to be repaired
constantly due to bombardment from the enemy or rain. In fact, daily life within the trenches was
foreseeable, Thirty minutes before sunrise, troops had to stand to, ready to repel any attack. If no
attack was forthcoming that day, the day s routine consisted of breakfast followed by inspection,
sentry duty, restoration of the trenches, care of personal items, or whiling away the time as best
they could. At last, trench warfare developed to a point where soldiers had to constantly remain

Summary of the Book Hunger of Memory and Response to It.
Public or Private: Why not both? There exists in the majority of people a schism between their
public lives and their private lives. People should desire to have their public selves match their
private selves as closely as possible. A rift between the two causes nothing but pain and suffering
for everyone around those people and places a heavy burden on the spirit of the ones responsible.
Trust and honesty are essential to our society and the truth should be complimentary, not earned.
Richard Rodriguez, a writer and public speaker, expertly illustrates his own experience with this
type of double life in his autobiography, Hunger of Memory. In the last section of Hunger of
Memory Mr. Secrets , Rodriguez paints an intimate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, Rodriguez s mother asks what Psychiatry is. His answer involves Freud, analysis, and
clinically trained listeners to which she replies, You mean that people tell a psychiatrist about
their personal lives? (183). Would that be so bad? The key to being completely open and honest
is to not have any regrets. Since the past can not be undone, no good can come from regret,
people need only to learn from it and move on. If nothing is regretted then no secrets are
necessary and honesty comes naturally. This simple idea, commonly practiced, can literally
change the world. Rodriguez goes on to say, There are things so deeply personal that they can be
revealed only to strangers (185). Why is that? Why is it often easier to speak of personal things
with complete strangers? Perhaps Rodriguez believes that strangers do not know him well
enough to judge him, and should a judgment come regardless, he does not know them well
enough to care. That seems likely. However, this implies that he believes those close to him will
judge him and that he is self conscious enough to care. Is it any wonder that Rodriguez has
adopted the same insecure and secretive attitude of his mother? Thus, the cycle continues. If
Rodriguez would only let go of his regrets, he could get over his perceived loss and draw his family
and friends a closer than they have ever been before. In Hunger of Memory, the chapter

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Mcmurphy Character Traits
McMurphy s trickster characterization in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest
The main character of McMurphy is often portrayed as a trickster in Ken Kesey s novel One
Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. In the first part, Chief Bromden sets the scene of the mental
hospital to the readers as it occurs right after McMurphy has entered the room of the mental
ward to join all of the other men, They spy on each other. Sometimes one man says something
about himself that he didn t aim to let slip, and one of his buddies at the table where he said it

In his mental institute no one has been allowed to leave and they are confined within the rigid

This indirectly hints that he wants to prepare them for the real world, in the middle of the sea
where they have danger lurking in all open corners and they had to fend for themselves. In part 4,
the Big Nurse smiles and talks about McMurphy, Crazy like a fox... I believe that is what you re
trying to say about Mr. McMurphy. This is during the scene in which all the individuals in the
mental asylum gather together and tell each other funny stories and that s when they ask what
makes McMurphy tick. Nurse Ratched then elaborates by stating that McMurphy isn t doing
anything for anybody until he s getting something out of it. Nurse Ratched then explains how much
money his friends in the institute have lost because of his gambling. In addition, he s able to go to
the fishing trip without spending any money. Thus, Nurse Ratched proves that McMurphy

Macbeth is not a villain in whom there is little to admire; he in fact, contains many characteristics
that responders would look up to and to some extent, respect. Bravery and courage is shown with
Macbeth throughout the play which causes us to admire him. What ultimately had caused Macbeth
s rise and downfall is what the witches had dishonesty masqueraded, and thus Macbeths character
flaw had provoked the events happening. Moreover, although Macbeth had committed many awful

Having at least considered that, Macbeth shows an admirable feature; he knows that it isn t right
and is something which he shouldn t be even thinking about. Macbeth also considers that King
Duncan is at his house in double trust. Firstly because I am his kinsman and his subject, Strong
both against the deed; (Lines 13 14) and secondly because then, as his host, who should against
his murderer shut the door, Not bear the knife myself (Lines 14 16). Macbeth s aspiration of
being king is great, yet he does consider the reasons why he should leave things as it is, and this
causes us to admire Macbeth and his reasoning because we know how much Macbeth had wanted
to be king, yet he decided to not go ahead.
Additionally King Duncan has been a good King that is well liked by everyone, and Macbeth
knows this his virtues Will plead like angels trumpet tongu d against The deep damnation of his

satisfy his ambition. Hence, he knows that the reasons against killing Duncan are greater than his
reasons for. This was why Macbeth had settled with the conclusion of not killing Duncan, We will

Christianity And The Early Stages
Have you ever wondered how Christianity was spread in the early stages? and what influenced
it? Rome held a huge part in both of these things. The Roman emperors, culture, and the Roman
religion all were things that influenced early Christianity very much. The time period in which
Jesus was on earth was probably the best time he could have come. It was a time of
Hellenization, right after Rome had taken over Greece. Most of the world was in the Greek
empire before it was taken over by Rome, so everything was Greek, and Rome adopted most of
the Greek culture for their own once they took it over. Everyone spoke the same language in that
area, making it easy for Jesus to communicate and share his word with everyone. Also, you have...

Octavian was emperor from thirty one B.C to fourteen A.D. His influence is that he built the

Heat Fracture on Rocks
Background
Heat fracture is when an increase in volume is observed, due to an increase in temperature. Simply
meaning that while a material is being heated, the rise in temperature causes it to take up more
space. Heat fracture doesn t only deal with high temperatures, it also deals with the effects of
cooling on a material. If cooling occurs then the opposite of expansion occurs as well, the material
will begin to shrink or decrease in size. Continuous heating and cooling will eventually lead to
stress and that makes the material break or fracture. When the material going through this type of
weathering is considered being fractured, it means it s dealing with cracking or breaking of the ...

the one minute trial barely had a 0.6g difference proving our hypothesis correct, while the 15

Chocolate Milk Is An Enemy Essay
Is chocolate milk an enemy or hero? I define this kid magnet(chocolate milk) as an enemy, and it
shouldn t be served in schools. I think this because no matter how healthy chocolate milk is, white
milk is always a healthier choice, the added sugar interferes with vitamin and nutrient absorption,
and the sweetness trains kids to have a sweeter appetite. This chocolate drink might be tasty,
although it might not be the best option.
Some people say that chocolate milk has the 9 essential nutrients, so it s good for you. Although this
is true, plain milk also has the nine essential nutrients, without the extra calories, artificial flavoring
and coloring, and without the added sugar. Chocolate milk may be somewhat healthy, but because
chocolate milk is just milk with added materials, plain milk will always be healthier, unless the
added materials are extremely healthy(which it is not). Milk is very sweet, and there is no use to

This may be true, but white milk also has sugar that helps muscle recovery, but doesn t have an
overdose of sugar like chocolate milk has. Chocolate milk has an overdose of sugar, making the
chocolate milk flavor sweet. Kids drinking this everyday with their school meal will get used to
the sweetness. After a while, the kids will develop a sweeter preference of meals and snacks. This
means the kid will eat more sweet foods(after the taste bud is trained to like sweet foods), and this
effect was an indirect cause from chocolate milk.
In conclusion, I think schools should not serve chocolate milk because plain milk is a healthier
option, the added sugar interferes with nutrient absorption, and causes kids to have a sweeter
appetite. Chocolate milk should be a treat, not a meal. After all, chocolate milk should be a treat,
shouldn t

Atn-7 Network Case Study
ATN is the Sydney flagship television station of the Seven Network in Australia. The licence,
issued to a company named Amalgamated Television Services, a subsidiary of Fairfax, was one of
the first four licences (two in Sydney, two in Melbourne) to be issued for commercial television
stations in Australia. It began broadcasting on 2 December 1956.
The station formed an affiliation with GTV 9 Melbourne in 1957, in order to share content. In
1963, Frank Packer ended up owning both GTV 9 and TCN 9, so as a result the stations switched
their previous affiliations. ATN 7 and HSV 7 joined to create the Australian TelevisionNetwork,
which later became the Seven Network. ATN 7 is the home of the national level Seven News

Analysis Of Rugrats And It Has Some Of The Most Memorable...
The 90 s was an era full of amazing television series and animation shows that depicted a wide
range of characters from a decent assortment of diverse backgrounds for the time. One of my
favorite shows was the series Rugrats and it has some of the most memorable and recognizable
characters on the planet. For this case study, I want to discuss Chuckie Finster. Chuckie is best
known for being Tommy Pickles best friend, his crazy red hair, his big purple glasses, and for being
the skittish older friend of the bunch who was always unsure of the world around them. Initially,
this paper will focus on his reluctant and meticulous nature, then a deep analysis of Chuckie and his
underlying problems will better help in attempting to find viable treatments that would potentially
help Chuckie in the long term.
The term abnormal is usually defined as any departure from the typical; therefore abnormal
behavior is any pattern of responding that is rare or unusual. (Poling, et.al, 1990, p.281) Looking
throughout the Rugrats series, I believe that Chuckie does display some abnormal behaviors,
especially for his age. I find that it is imperative to mention that the characters in this show are
primarily toddlers under the age of three, with Chuckie being two and his companions being about
a year and a half years old. With this in mind, one must realize that what is considered normal to
toddlers is not always understood to be normal in the real world and adult society. Identifying

A Brief Note On Public Transport And The United Kingdom
An investigation into LIC Students user habits relation to public transport in the United Kingdom
1. Introduction
In recent years, the educational tourism market has grown rapidly in the United Kingdom, therefore
the government should consider developing services such as public transport. In fact, public
transport system plays an important part to enhance the quality of life for citizens with the United
Kingdom (Weisbrod Reno, 2009), and further for international students who travel abroad in order
to get a better standard of education. It is necessary for them to evaluate how they travel when they
start their studies. International students come from different cultures and backgrounds, different
values and behaviors, and that is why this research becomes imperative to find out what they need
when they use the public transport services in the United Kingdom and thus this research is
relevant as an effective system is largely linked with the quality of life of the student. In addition,
1.1 Aims and Objectives
1. To find out whether LIC students use public transport or not in the United Kingdom.
2. To make comparison between public transport system in the United Kingdom and public
transport system in LIC students home countries.

Los Lobos Research Paper
1When Los Lobos perform in concert today, audiences in the thousands cheer them on. It s hard
to believe that the group started out as just another garage band playing popular rock and roll
tunes from the radio. In 1974 four high school friends from East Los Angeles formed Los Lobos
(Spanish for The Wolves ). David Hidalgo and CГ©sar Rosas played guitar, Conrad Lozano played
bass guitar, and Louie PГ©rez played drums.
2Like many garage bands, these buddies might have simply gone their separate ways after high
school. But the members of Los Lobos wanted to keep making music together. They decided to
change their musical style and began focusing on traditional Mexican music that reflected their
heritage.
3We pulled out all those records we used to beg our parents not to play around our friends and
found an incredible wealth of music, says PГ©rez. These guys [on the records] were doing amazing
things with their instruments, and we started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For several years Los Lobos played at weddings, QuinceaГ±eras, private parties any function that
needed live music. They also landed a regular engagement at a Mexican restaurant.
5By 1978 Los Lobos had made enough money to record their first album, and they sold copies of
it wherever they performed. They also returned to their electric guitars to get closer to a Tex Mex
sound, which is a mixture of traditional Mexican music, rock and roll, country music, and the blues.
This new, louder sound produced one unintended result: the group was fired from the restaurant.
6But it didn t matter that Los Lobos had lost their one steady job, because they had found a niche
that no other group occupied. They had combined electric and acoustic instruments and blended
musical styles in their own way. Steve Berlin joined the band in 1983 as the saxophone and

Squid Vs Octopi
Squid and Octopi are two mysterious creatures of the sea which many people lack knowledge of.
They both have many amusing similarities and differences when it comes to their homes, diets, and
physical aspects. These two sea creatures relate in many ways, however there are countless unique
characteristics between them.
Being some of the most brilliant animals of the sea, Octopi are invertebrates which means that
they do not have a single bone in their bodies. They are usually hidden away in caves or dens
near the sea floor and spend most of their lifetimes alone. During pregnancy, many mothers
become very weak due to a lack of food and nutrition, and pass away not being able to be present
throughout their children s lifetimes. Octopi are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with octopi, squid are also cephalopods and contain three hearts. Unlike octopi, squid have
two fins on their head and have a stiff structure called a pen that acts like a flexible spine. These
fins are used for the squid to slowly move about throughout the ocean. Rather than being alone and
independent like the octopus, squid are found in schools and tend to stay together throughout their
short lifetimes. Squid eat a combination of different species of fish and shrimp and may even go
to the point of eating other squid if food is scarce. Both animals are located in salty, warm waters
near the temperate zones where there is an abundance of food. One main difference between them
is how they catch their prey. Octopi bring in their prey by piercing them and injecting it with a
venom through their suckers that paralyzes the victim. Squid use their two longest tentacles to
catch fish and shrimp and shred it with their sharp tongue while the prey is still alive. Another
similarity between them is that they both have a mantle. The mantle helps protect the organism by
creating a shell around the internal organs. Size weighs in a great deal with both of the animals.
Octopi can range anywhere from one centimeter to five meters and can weigh up to one hundred
and fifty pounds. Squid can be from a few inches to sixty feet long and weigh over a

Living Life with Heart Failure Essay
Life with Heart Failure
What is the first disease that you think of when asked? Of all the diseases that could be
mentioned Heart Failure, HF, is one that many have heard of or that has affected a loved one.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention heart failure affects nearly 5.1
million Americans of all ages and is responsible for more hospitalizations than all forms of cancer
combined. It is the number 1 cause of hospitalization for Medicare patients and this process can
begin early in adulthood from poor diets and smoking habits. HF may go undetected by the client
months after the disease starts, which leaves little options for treatment when symptoms are
prevalent. As with any disease process early teaching from a ... Show more content on

Treatment of Heart Failure first starts with identifying the underlying cause of the disease and
improving the efficiency of the contractility of the heart. Medications that are often used in the
treatment of HF are: Digoxin, which raises the contractility of the heart, high efficacy diuretics,
which eases edema and eases the workload of the heart, Angiotensin Converting Enzyme, reduces
blood pressure by dilating blood vessels, Anticoagulants, which prevents the blood from
coagulating therefore reducing the risk of heart attack, and beta blockers. There are a few surgery
options for patients; Coronary artery bypass surgery is the most common surgery for patients with
CF, if patients have coronary artery blockages cardiac surgeons can either graft or bypass the
effected artery, with a new artery for the part of the heart experiencing ischemia. Valve
replacement surgery is a good option for patients who are experiencing aortic valve leaks or
valves needing reshaping/ reinforcement . LVAD systems, left ventricle valve assist device, are
used for those patients who are diagnosed with end stage heart failure; this device works by
physically helping your heart pump blood throughout your body which alleviates some of the stress
for the heart until a heart transplant or the end of life. The final option is for a heart transplant; the
diseased heart is replaced with a donor heart.

Intro
Behind the global power of the U.S. dollar, hides the most significant form of currency you ve
probably never heard of, the Petrodollar. The word Petrodollar was coined by the Egyptian
economist Ibrahim Oweiss, as a way to describe how oil producing and exporting countries were
accounting for oil units outside of the regular money supply. While the Petrodollar may not be a
commonly used term, I would agree with Economist Jerry Robinson when describing it as, the most
brilliant [series of] political economic moves in recent history... [being] the fabric that holds our
[U.S.] economy together . As the major cornerstone for the U.S. S economic prosperity and
international hegemony, following the change of the Bretton Woods Systemto the Petrodollar

interests has been the implementation and preservation of the Petrodollar.

Abraham Lincoln And The Fourteenth Amendment
This political cartoon characterizes Abraham Lincoln as having a difficulty balancing the slavery
issue with the other needs of his party. One person is a slave representing freedom and holding the
end of one side, the slaveholder is representing slavery holding the other side, and Abraham Lincoln
is in between both slavery and freedom. This political cartoon is saying that if you vote for the
democrats than you are a white man. There was slavery then if you vote for the republicans than
you would be compared to a negro. The 13th Amendment The 13th Amendment says that Neither
slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have
been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Formally abolishing slavery in the United States, the 13th Amendment was passed by the Congress
on January 31, 1865, and ratified by the states on December 6, 1865. This amendment was unique
and different from the other amendments which are the 14th and 15th. The 13th amendment
abolished slavery, but the 14th was unique also because it overturned the Dred Scott decision, and it
counted all citizens, including slaves, as citizens in the US. The 15th amendment gave African
Americans the right to vote. The 14th Amendment The 14th Amendment expanded the protection
of civil rights to all Americans and is cited in more litigation than any other amendment. This
amendment forbids states from denying any

Edgar Allan Poe Symbolism
Poetry Analysis Essay: Alone by Edgar Allan Poe
Alone; Alone is one word that perfectly describes Edgar Allan Poe s devastating life of sorrow; a
never ending depression. This poem is the basic rundown of how loneliness played an important
factor in the life of Poe stating how he was never like the others and how with even joy and
happiness, despair affected him. The poem, Alone by Edgar Allan Poe, has an abundant usage of
symbolism and a unique way of using tone to create the poem that brings his true meaning of a
man s life who has been living in isolation and melancholy.
One poetic element used in this poem is symbolism. Symbolism is used in Alone as a way for
Poe to express his true feelings by using words to create an image or representation of the way he
wants his readers to interpret the poem; using symbolism will generate a time period of Poe s
life. The reason behind this is, because the words chosen, symbolize the ongoing idea of
loneliness in the poem. For example, Poe writes, (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a
demon in my view (Poe 21 22). This is the representation of how around Poe, there was happiness
around him but all Poe saw was great despair from within due to the great loneliness. Another line
in Alone by Poe is, From the thunder and the storm, And the cloud that took the form (Poe 19 20),
which creates the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Issue Of The Aboriginal Community
An Evolving Issue It is natural for many to ask, Why is this even an issue for society? Aren t most
Aboriginals in reserves? These type questions bring upon a new layer of difficulty to the issue. The
fact is the Aboriginal community is lashing back at the inability to sustain themselves. The reason
the issue is effecting every member and organization of society whether it be government,
Canadian businesses, or the common individual within society; whether they are Aboriginal or not
is quite complex. Although it is a complex issue, there are reasons for the issue being public and
not private. The first of which is the fact Aboriginals were put into reserves in the first place. This
prevented them from learning and growing along with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunate the stress on planning was not of adequate demand, very little help besides financial
aid was given to these Aboriginals coming from reserves. What makes this problem worse is the
fact it is not unique to Manitoba, many provinces deal with difficulties regarding the integration of
Aboriginals into society. These Aboriginals often find it difficult to fit into the society or find
meaning work, driving them to stagnate and become unresponsive to the society around them. This
mixture of Aboriginals moved to a society that doesn t understand or support them, along with
economic difficulties that require funding for reserves, causes tensions to boil over and develop
conflict for all parties involved.
Aboriginal Peoples Responsibilities
The responsibilities are of course split between all parties; Aboriginals as a whole must hold there
end of the weight with help from others in their new society. They (the Aboriginals) must strive for
autonomy within their native reserves and put individuals in power who will guide the reserves
forward, and away from the high levels of corruption that have plagued them for so long (Russell,
2012). Aboriginals must also demand more meaningful attention from Provincial and Federal
Government, although not in the form of financial aid as that is not an incentive. It merely holds the

The Mayo Clinic
1.As per the Mayo Clinic the symptoms that the patient encountered is related to a pituitary
adenoma, due to the tumor pressure (www.mayoclinic.org). The visual disturbances and headaches
indicate an increase growth, which causes pressure to the surrounding area. The weight gain and
increase in shoe size is caused by an increase production in growth hormone. Excess production in
growth hormone can cause enlarged hands and feet.
2. The pituitary adenoma itself may put pressure on the remaining normal part of the pituitary gland
and limit or destroy its ability to produce hormones appropriately (Stewart Vance). With the increase
in tumor pressure the patient may experience nausea and vomiting. The pituitary adenoma may
cause body hair loss, sexual dysfunction, increase frequency and increase amount of urination. The
pituitary adenoma is growth hormone secreting tumor causing the hands and feet to enlarge
(www.mayoclinic.org). A growth hormone adenoma is the reason for the unexplained weight gain
and the change in shoe size from 10 to 12.
3. The cause of the high urine output postop is due to diabetes insipidus. Diabetes insipidus (DI) is
a common complication following pituitary surgery (Schreckinger, Szerli Mittal, 2012). There are

The No Child Left Behing Act
Introduction The Bush administration, as well as others, hoped to close achievement gaps and
bring all children up to a higher standard. In order to do this, No Child Left Behind (NCLB) was
enacted with the hope of an extreme education reform. It requires strict accountability and
assessments for schools. This was done without proper funding and expectations that are difficult
for schools and students to reach. This act caused many problems in schools rather than fixing the
problems that already existed.
Policy Formulation
The Social Problem
Many United States children are failing in the public schooling system. Students are dropping out
at alarming rates and those who stay are not properly prepared for college and careers. There are
vast achievement gaps leaving children behind that are minorities, come from low income families,
are disabled, and are English learning (U.S. Department of Education). These problems are
apparent to teachers, parents, students, employers, and society as a whole. This will leave the
United States with a workforce that is not properly educated or trained for the jobs available.
This ideology that all children regardless of income, minority, or disability should be able to
receive a quality education to prepare them for college and careers. One of the biggest causes of
this achievement gap is unequal funding. Poor, minority children are typically educated in urban
schools that receive less funding than schools in suburban areas that educate

Compare And Contrast Fugitive Slave Acts Of 1793 And 1850
Compare and contrast the Fugitive Slave Acts of 1793 and 1850 Introduction The federal acts
of 1793 and 1850 provided for the return between states of escaped black slaves. Alike laws
existing in both North and South in colonial days applied also to white indentured servants and
to Native American slaves. Many Northern states also passed personal liberty laws that allowed
fugitives a jury trial, and others passed laws forbidding state officials to help capture alleged
fugitive slaves or to lodge them in state jails. As a concession to the South a second and more
rigorous fugitive slave law was passed as part of the Compromise of 1850. Fugitive slave laws,
in U.S. history, the federal acts of 1793 and 1850 provided for the return between states of
escaped black slaves. Similar laws existing in both North and South in colonial days applied also
to white indentured servants and to Native American slaves. As slavery was abolished in the
Northern states, the 1793 law was loosely enforced, to the great irritation of the South, and as
abolitionist sentiment developed, organized efforts to get around the law took form in the
Underground Railroad. Many Northern states also passed personal liberty laws that allowed
fugitives a jury trial, and others passed laws forbidding state officials to help capture alleged
fugitive slaves or to lodge them in state jails References: Basinger, Scott J. Regulating Slavery:

Footloose Movie Analysis
Footloose Tonight I gotta cut loose, footloose, kick off my sunday shoes. Jack, get back, come
on before we crack. (Footloose, Kenny Loggins) For this essay, I chose to watch Footloose made
in 1984 and directed by Herbert Ross and Footloose made in 2011 directed by Craig Brewer.
Both movies centered around the town of Bomont, a secluded town with out of the ordinary
beliefs. In this town, dancing and partying of any sort was strictly against the law and teenagers
were seemingly miserable. There was little to no self expression and even listening to provocative
music or any music too loud, could get you a ticket with a hefty fine. The reason behind the strict
rules is that several years back, five teens from Bomont High School died in a car wreck after they
were drinking and dancing too much. Each of these movies have some things in common, but have
more differences than anything. Some of the main differences are the opening creditsof each movie,
how and who Ren arrives to Bomont at the beginning of the movie, the chicken races between
Ren and Jeff, and the book burning in town square. In the 1984 version, the movie opens with the
song Footloose and the first thing the viewers see is the shoes and feet of many different people
dancing. One of the major things that you notice is the type and style of the shoes such as leg
warmers and socks with heels which tells you what era the movie was made in. As the credits roll
across the screen, the music continues to

difference between the demand and supply of the talented people. Operation in different nations
needs a globally multi generational workforce with good strategy to develop. The talent strategy
adopted by ITech will not only give confidence to the investors, but also will lead to better service
to the customers. Thus by having talented workforce ITech could build its name by providing good
costumer services. Talent managementprocess in ITech will require little tools like hiring and
recruiting, succession planning, job satisfaction etc. ITech have to choose a uniform method with
small element of local policy based on culture, to carry out talent management in two nations in
similar way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Providing equal opportunities will make ITech more efficient as talent is spread (London s
networks network). A study finds that women usually leave work to look out their families, or due
to difficulty in breaking male dominated environment. ITech should take steps by making senior
female managers to mentor other female counterparts and to encourage them to take up top roles.

Accuracy Of Wikipedia
Wikipedia is a very popular site that includes very reliable information. In fact, students and
researchers use the site for their individual projects. Certainly, people visit the site for personal
reasons too. For example, to find out more about their favorite sports team or to look up
information on a city that they plan to visit. However, some educators and students got together
recently. They proposed a question. Are Wikipedia articles really that accurate. Some feel that
educators and researchers have a duty or responsibility to make sure that the information supplied

Waterstreet The Gin Game Analysis
Acting is all about the movement of your body and your soul. Music, visual and stage arts, all of
these are all able to express deep messages without the use of oral talk. Sign language is the one of a
kind language which uses body motion and facial expressions to communicate with others. These
characteristics are also necessary in successful stage performances, as acting depends greatly on
movement and facial expression. The majority of theatrical productions do indeed depend on
human speech to connect with the crowd; however, the tool of the human body and its native
communication skill is what charms and truly satisfies the audience. Today, many theatrical
productions offer American Sign Language translation during certain performances.... Show more

This allowed hearing audience to listen in on the act through their headsets, with the sign to voice
interpreters planted in the sound booth speaking into a microphone. He tried this idea with the play
Shirley Valentine with good success, and the box office numbers grew. Waterstreet s made the voice
fully dependent to the rhythm of ASL, and without question, the ASL interpretation was as fluent as
possible. Hearing audiences would sometimes have to sustain fast or meandering speech as it

At one time JCPenney was considered the pentacle of discount shopping and was consistently
growing. A heavy recession in 1974 was the first major obstacle for JCPenney and from there on
forward it seemed difficult for the retailer to make progress in the magnitude it had the previous
years; however the retailer continued to make profits. In 1998 JCPenney introduced its online
catalog service; in the beginnings JCPenney s catalog was strictly paper and a major player in
its business strategy and profits. The introduction of the online shopping proved extremely
beneficial for the company due to the online boom of the late 90 s and early 2000 s. Today
JCPenney finds itself at a very interesting cross roads. In the summer of 2011 JCPenney
welcomed new CEO Ron Johnson, a former Apple executive. This was a major move for
JCPenney considering the recent years showed a steady decline in profits and Market share. Store
closings were becoming a regular thing and the Executive committee saw Ron Johnson, who has
had major success in retail, as a chance to turn the company around. On February 1, 2012 the
company launched its new strategy centered on Fair and Square Pricing. This is the first stage of
many changes to come according to Ron Johnson. The company also has a

Chevalier and Ellison (1999), furthermore provides new access for the study of fund earnings, they
tend to concern about fund managers, assume it is necessary to distinguish the returns of
persistence and expression comes from the manipulation of managers or fund itself. Only when the
fund manager is the main indicator of the yield of the fund, then funds can be selected from the
perspective of managers, and help investors to identify the manager s characteristic to select fund.
Furthermore, they introduced SAT average score to evaluate whether the fund manager s university
is prestigious. Through least squares analysis, they noticed that the higher SAT score and younger
manager have better achievement, and the fund administrator with MBA degrees have a greater
chance of investing in better growing stocks, compare with who without MBA, yet this variable
has an insignificant effect on fund revenue. Indro et al. (1999) became a pioneer in the field on

Reaction Paper On Rutin
Abstract: Rutin (R) is a citrus flavonoid glycoside found in many plants having biological and
pharmacological effects such as anti oxidative, anti inflammatory, anti carcinogenic, and
antimicrobial, etc. In this work we have analysed the interactions of rutin with normal human
hemoglobin (HbA) using UV Visible spectroscopy, steady state fluorescencespectroscopy, time
resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy and molecular
modeling studies. Specific interactions of the flavonoid, Rutin, with human hemoglobin has been
confirmed from flavonoid induced static quenching which is evident from steady state fluorescence
as well as lifetime data. Molecular docking study reveals that apart from hydrogen bonding and...

  • 2. The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, also known as the TRC, was formed to help the nation deal with the horrific events that occurred under apartheid. It served many purposes including: to allow individuals to find out the truth of crimes committed during the time period, grant amnesty from the government for individuals who confessed the whole truth, and to allow the country as a whole to reconcile and forgive all who contributed to apartheid. These TRC trials were aired nationwide on television. It created a safe ground for citizens to voice the accounts of violence unleashed on them by the government and an opportunity for perpetrators to come forward. The reconciliation of South Africawas achieved by the formalized process of the TRC, with the goal of restoration. The Gugulethu trial is a prime example of how forgiveness among individuals may be possible. As seen in the courtroom screening scene of the hysterical mothers of the victims, these trials could be very emotional for the families of the victims. Seven young men accused of being hostile terrorists were gunned down by police officers. The explanation for the orders for shooting the young men were because they appeared as threats to police as they attempted to arrest the men. When Mbelo confronts the families, the mother s of the seven men initially reject his apology. However by the end of the confrontation, one of the victim s son tells Mbelo that he forgives him. The first income tax was assessed in 1862 to raise funds for the American Civil War, with a rate of 3%. Today the IRS collects over $2.4 trillion each tax year. It processes around 234 million tax returns annually. Tax Free Insurance from IRS: Employers payments covering premiums for employer sponsored health insurance are exempt from federal income and payroll taxes. Any portion of premiums paid by the employee is typically excluded from taxable income and is therefore also tax free, although some employers require employees to pay their share of premiums out of after tax income. • 4. Creative Writing On Nursing Home The Bright Spot in My Day One morning bright and early, I went to the nursing home near my home to do a community service project. The plan was for me to meet Ms. Clara Mae who is a resident there. My expectations for the day were not the best, I dreaded the smell of being in a nursing home. As I approached room 406, I noticed a faint lemonsmell that floated around the hall. I cautiously tapped on her wooden door and noticed a festive, fall wreath hanging crookedly by her mailbox. Ms. Clara Mae? A small tinkling voice called out, Come in! Ms. Clara Mae seemed sleepy and tired and she told me that she normally took a nap before lunch. That was my cue that I must move on to visit the other residents in the activity/recreation area. The scent of lemon wafted over to me once again, and I realized that she had an air freshener plug in the wall nearest the window. Evidently, she did not like the smell of nursing homes either. It suddenly hit me that she could be me in the future! She had a similar story like me, she liked some of the same things I did, and she had a great sense of humor. All Ms. Clara Mae needed was someone to listen to her and a little companionship. I had learned that her family no longer visited her anymore and the only people that saw her on a routine basis was a group that came from a church once a month. How sad! I felt connected to her and it crushed me to leave her. She seemed to understand and reassured me that she knew I was busy and had lots of things to do. The term income inequality refers to the inequality among persons within a society. The topic is commonly debated, and the liberties and rights of people are often brought into the debate being made. In America, it has been said that The 400 richest people in the United Stateshave more wealth than the bottom 150 million put together leading the reader to believe there is a huge inequality problem that is only growing wider. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first glance, I feel a majority of people will answer yes, the government holds an obligation to lessen the income gap, just as I did. However, after dissection and analysis of the question, more questions are brought up, questions that are not so easily answered. How would the government come about a solution to lessen the income gap? Just as I previously stated, it would be a matter of theft from the wealthy to support the poor, and support their right to equality. This argument does not seem viable, due to the fact that the wealthy persons rights are now being all but forgotten. The redistribution of wealth can be simply put as taking a little from the wealthy, and sprinkling some here and some there, as they should not need all that excess wealth. This ideology sounds like Marxists philosophy, which does not have a history of prevailing. When the government controls and distributes the wealth, what is the motivation to produce more? Higher level of production would only lead to more government interference. Although there is no doubt income inequality exists in the United States, the government does not have the obligation to lessen the gap. A government has the obligation to protect citizen s rights, and the only means of lessening the wage gap that I could find, violated the rights of citizens. Income inequality can be an incentive for people. It encourages creativity necessary to allow people to climb in the ranks of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trust and honesty are essential to our society and the truth should be complimentary, not earned. His answer involves Freud, analysis, and clinically trained listeners to which she replies, You mean that people tell a psychiatrist about their personal lives? (183). Would that be so bad? The key to being completely open and honest is to not have any regrets. Since the past can not be undone, no good can come from regret, people need only to learn from it and move on. If nothing is regretted then no secrets are necessary and honesty comes naturally. This simple idea, commonly practiced, can literally change the world. Rodriguez goes on to say, There are things so deeply personal that they can be revealed only to strangers (185). Why is that? Why is it often easier to speak of personal things with complete strangers? Perhaps Rodriguez believes that strangers do not know him well enough to judge him, and should a judgment come regardless, he does not know them well enough to care. That seems likely. However, this implies that he believes those close to him will judge him and that he is self conscious enough to care. Is it any wonder that Rodriguez has adopted the same insecure and secretive attitude of his mother? Thus, the cycle continues. David Hidalgo and CГ©sar Rosas played guitar, Conrad Lozano played bass guitar, and Louie PГ©rez played drums. 2Like many garage bands, these buddies might have simply gone their separate ways after high school. But the members of Los Lobos wanted to keep making music together. They decided to change their musical style and began focusing on traditional Mexican music that reflected their heritage. 3We pulled out all those records we used to beg our parents not to play around our friends and found an incredible wealth of music, says PГ©rez. Unlike octopi, squid have two fins on their head and have a stiff structure called a pen that acts like a flexible spine. These fins are used for the squid to slowly move about throughout the ocean. Rather than being alone and independent like the octopus, squid are found in schools and tend to stay together throughout their short lifetimes. Squid eat a combination of different species of fish and shrimp and may even go to the point of eating other squid if food is scarce. Both animals are located in salty, warm waters near the temperate zones where there is an abundance of food. One main difference between them is how they catch their prey. Octopi bring in their prey by piercing them and injecting it with a venom through their suckers that paralyzes the victim. Squid use their two longest tentacles to catch fish and shrimp and shred it with their sharp tongue while the prey is still alive. Another similarity between them is that they both have a mantle. The mantle helps protect the organism by creating a shell around the internal organs. Size weighs in a great deal with both of the animals. The poem, Alone by Edgar Allan Poe, has an abundant usage of symbolism and a unique way of using tone to create the poem that brings his true meaning of a man s life who has been living in isolation and melancholy. One poetic element used in this poem is symbolism. Symbolism is used in Alone as a way for Poe to express his true feelings by using words to create an image or representation of the way he wants his readers to interpret the poem; using symbolism will generate a time period of Poe s life. The reason behind this is, because the words chosen, symbolize the ongoing idea of loneliness in the poem. For example, Poe writes, (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view (Poe 21 22). This is the representation of how around Poe, there was happiness around him but all Poe saw was great despair from within due to the great loneliness. The reason the issue is effecting every member and organization of society whether it be government, Canadian businesses, or the common individual within society; whether they are Aboriginal or not is quite complex. In order to do this, No Child Left Behind (NCLB) was enacted with the hope of an extreme education reform. It requires strict accountability and assessments for schools. This was done without proper funding and expectations that are difficult for schools and students to reach. This act caused many problems in schools rather than fixing the problems that already existed. Policy Formulation The Social Problem Many United States children are failing in the public schooling system. Students are dropping out at alarming rates and those who stay are not properly prepared for college and careers. There are vast achievement gaps leaving children behind that are minorities, come from low income families, are disabled, and are English learning (U.S. Department of Education). These problems are apparent to teachers, parents, students, employers, and society as a whole. This will leave the United States with a workforce that is not properly educated or trained for the jobs available. This ideology that all children regardless of income, minority, or disability should be able to receive a quality education to prepare them for college and careers. Both movies centered around the town of Bomont, a secluded town with out of the ordinary beliefs. In this town, dancing and partying of any sort was strictly against the law and teenagers were seemingly miserable. There was little to no self expression and even listening to provocative music or any music too loud, could get you a ticket with a hefty fine. The reason behind the strict rules is that several years back, five teens from Bomont High School died in a car wreck after they were drinking and dancing too much. Each of these movies have some things in common, but have more differences than anything. Some of the main differences are the opening creditsof each movie, how and who Ren arrives to Bomont at the beginning of the movie, the chicken races between Ren and Jeff, and the book burning in town square. In the 1984 version, the movie opens with the song Footloose and the first thing the viewers see is the shoes and feet of many different people dancing. Chevalier and Ellison (1999), furthermore provides new access for the study of fund earnings, they tend to concern about fund managers, assume it is necessary to distinguish the returns of persistence and expression comes from the manipulation of managers or fund itself. Only when the fund manager is the main indicator of the yield of the fund, then funds can be selected from the perspective of managers, and help investors to identify the manager s characteristic to select fund. Furthermore, they introduced SAT average score to evaluate whether the fund manager s university is prestigious. Through least squares analysis, they noticed that the higher SAT score and younger manager have better achievement, and the fund administrator with MBA degrees have a greater chance of investing in better growing stocks, compare with who without MBA, yet this variable has an insignificant effect on fund revenue. Indro et al. (1999) became a pioneer in the field on dividing the type of fund managers, separate analysis open end fund managers. They argue that if the fund s profit is lower than the average at the same time, it will face great difficulties in attracting new investors and keeping mature investors. Niessen Ruenzi and Ruenzi (2006) found that male fund managers tend to risky investment style, conversely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Reaction Paper On Rutin Abstract: Rutin (R) is a citrus flavonoid glycoside found in many plants having biological and pharmacological effects such as anti oxidative, anti inflammatory, anti carcinogenic, and antimicrobial, etc. In this work we have analysed the interactions of rutin with normal human hemoglobin (HbA) using UV Visible spectroscopy, steady state fluorescencespectroscopy, time resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy and molecular modeling studies. Specific interactions of the flavonoid, Rutin, with human hemoglobin has been confirmed from flavonoid induced static quenching which is evident from steady state fluorescence as well as lifetime data. Molecular docking study reveals that apart from hydrogen bonding and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Docking simulation techniques were performed using Glide module (SchrГ¶dinger software suite) with HbA (PDB ID: 2D60) obtained from Protein Data Bank and a plant flavonoid rutin 3,3 ,4 ,5,7 pentahydroxyflavone 3 rutinoside). For validating the software the protein was redocked with a already bound ligand. The docking score ( or G score) of rutin was found to be 6.251, as the best G score is obtained as the most negative value, thus we can say 6.251 is a a very good docking ...
