Most of the algorithms for anti surge control for industrial centrifugal compressor
work on the data taken from various process parameters . In recent years , some more works have
been done to co- relate the compressor stall / surge with machinery vibrations. These features have
been applied in some compressor control PLC as well. Compressor stalls are aerodynamic stalls
which can result to reduced compression efficiency or complete breakdown in compression. Stall is
normally a precursor to surge which cause radial vibration at certain frequencies .Pure surge, on the
other hand, is an axisymmetric oscillation of the mass row along the axial length of the compressor. It
is more severe than rotating stall and may cause severe damage to compressor. For high speed , high
pressure centrifugal compressor, it is imprative to conduct a ASME PTC10 type 1 test before
equipment is towed out. For high pressure centrifugal compressor, aerodyanmics induced vibration
may lead to Resizing diffuser and return channelleading to enormous delay if issue is not identified at
OEM ( Original equipment manufacturer ) test bench itself .This paper provides a road map to draw a
surge limit line and locating stall region in compressor map which can help deriving a Real Surge
Precursor Algorithm based on vibration and dynmaic pressure analysis at OEM works . These can be
used also as a part of diagnostic tool to identify the real source of sub synchronous vibration.

The remarkable success of M. tuberculosis as a pathogen is largely due to its ability to
persist within the host for long periods. To develop the effective intervention strategies, understanding the biology
of persistence is highly required. Accumulating evidences showed oxygen deprivation (hypoxia) as a potential
stimulus for triggering the transition of M. tuberculosis to a non-replicating persistent state analogous to
latency in vivo. To date, in vitro hypoxia experimental models used the laboratory adapted isolate H37Rv and
very little is known about the behavior of clinical isolates that are involved during disease outbreaks. Hence,
we compared the transcription profiles of H37Rv and two south Indian clinical isolates (S7 and S10) under hypoxia
to find differences in gene expression pattern.
Human Genome Project is a worldwide scientific achievement. It was a thirteen-year project initiated in 1990 and completed in 2003. Human Genome Project helped a lot in the identification of diseased genes as DNA is very significant for understanding the diseased gene and their functions. It helped in the identification of disease loci for many diseases and presented their treatment through preventive measures. It identified the gene loci for many diseases like cancer, asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes type 2, obesity, Alzheimer's disease, Down's syndrome, Turner's syndrome, depression and many types of heart diseases including cardiovascular disease and coronary artery disease. This project does not directly treat the diseases but it helps in the identification of disease gene loci and then allows the treatment of disease through its preventive measures before the appearance of symptoms or at the initial stages of the disease through many techniques like gene therapy, pharmacogenomics, and targeted drug therapy. These are the helpful techniques in the diagnoses of the human disease gene locus.
A major new development in this understanding is the recognition that
pet exposures consist of not only allergen exposures but also changes in microbial exposures.
Exposures to certain pet-associated microbes, especially in the neonatal period, appear to be able to
dramatically alter how a child's immune system develops and this in turn reduces the risk of allergic sensitization and disease.
An exciting challenge in the next few years will be to see whether these changes can be developed into a realistic preventative strategy
with the expectation of significantly reducing allergic disease, especially asthma.

Humans are distinguished from the other living apes in having larger brains and an unusual life history that combines high reproductive output with slow childhood growth and exceptional longevity This suite of derived traits suggests major changes in energy expenditure and allocation in the human lineage, but direct measures of human and ape metabolism are needed to compare evolved energy strategies among hominoids. Here we used doubly labelled water measurements of total energy expenditure (TEE; kcal day−1) in humans, chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and orangutans to test the hypothesis that the human lineage has experienced an acceleration in metabolic rate, providing energy for larger brains and faster reproduction without sacrificing maintenance and longevity.
In multivariate regressions including body size and physical activity, human TEE exceeded that of chimpanzees and bonobos, gorillas and orangutans by approximately 400, 635 and 820 kcal day−1, respectively, readily accommodating the cost of humans’ greater brain size and reproductive output. Much of the increase in TEE is attributable to humans’ greater basal metabolic rate (kcal day−1), indicating increased organ metabolic activity. Humans also had the greatest body fat percentage. An increased metabolic rate, along with changes in energy allocation, was crucial in the evolution of human brain size and life history.
Understanding the origin and evolution of the eukaryotic cell and the full diversity of eukaryotes is relevant to many biological disciplines.
However, our current understanding of eukaryotic genomes is extremely biased, leading to a skewed view of eukaryotic biology.
We argue that a phylogeny-driven initiative to cover the full eukaryotic diversity is needed to overcome this bias.

A new policy paper released at the end of April in time for Global Action Week run by the Global Campaign for Education shows that aid to education needs to rise considerably if the world is to reach the new education goal in the Sustainable Development Agenda.
Donor countries have the means to bridge the gap. But the latest data, from 2014, show that for several years aid to education has been stuck at a level far below what is needed.
Humanitarian aid for education is also still at low levels. In 2015, out of a total amount of US$10.6 billion of humanitarian aid, the education sector received $198 million. This is less than 1.9% of total funding.

Endosymbiosis: Acanthamoebait can play a significant role in the transmission of some bacteria in drinking water, especially some pathogenic bacteria by serving as hosts for them, being described as a "Trojan horse". The intracellular location of these microorganisms, protected from adverse conditions, also allows the bacteria to evade the host's defenses, resist the action of antibiotics and increase their virulence (Trabelsi et al., 2012). Approximately 20 to 24% of clinical and environmental Acanthamoeba isolates were reported to harbor bacteria intracellularly (Visvesvara et al., 2013). Acanthamoeba feeds on bacteria in the environment, capturing them within its cytoplasm through phagocytosis. Phagocytosed bacteria are usually killed and digested by the amoeba, however, some species of bacteria can grow and reproduce within the cytoplasm and become a symbiont (Nwachuku et al., 2003). Most Acanthamoeba spp. they host endosymbionts that may include viruses, fungi, protists, and bacteria, some of which are potentially pathogenic to humans. It can also increase the virulence of some bacteria called Amoeba-Resistant Microorganisms (MsRA) (Coşkun et al., 2013).

Abstract
Background: Genetic analyses of human lice have shown that the current taxonomic classification of head lice (Pediculus
humanus capitis) and body lice (Pediculus humanus humanus) does not reflect their phylogenetic organization. Three
phylotypes of head lice A, B and C exist but body lice have been observed only in phylotype A. Head and body lice have
different behaviours and only the latter have been involved in outbreaks of infectious diseases including epidemic typhus,
trench fever and louse borne recurrent fever. Recent studies suggest that body lice arose several times from head louse
populations.
Methods and Findings: By introducing a new genotyping technique, sequencing variable intergenic spacers which were
selected from louse genomic sequence, we were able to evaluate the genotypic distribution of 207 human lice. Sequence
variation of two intergenic spacers, S2 and S5, discriminated the 207 lice into 148 genotypes and sequence variation of
another two intergenic spacers, PM1 and PM2, discriminated 174 lice into 77 genotypes. Concatenation of the four
intergenic spacers discriminated a panel of 97 lice into 96 genotypes. These intergenic spacer sequence types were
relatively specific geographically, and enabled us to identify two clusters in France, one cluster in Central Africa (where a
large body louse outbreak has been observed) and one cluster in Russia. Interestingly, head and body lice were not
genetically differentiated.
Conclusions: We propose a hypothesis for the emergence of body lice, and suggest that humans with both low hygiene
and head louse infestations provide an opportunity for head louse variants, able to ingest a larger blood meal (a required
characteristic of body lice), to colonize clothing. If this hypothesis is ultimately supported, it would help to explain why poor
human hygiene often coincides with outbreaks of body lice. Additionally, if head lice act as a reservoir for body lice, and that
any social degradation in human populations may allow the formation of new populations of body lice, then head louse
populations are potentially a greater threat to humans than previously assumed.

During this long period, chromosomes have been discovered in human cells and well recognized as a source of genes locations. The effects of chemicals and environmental pollution in human health and caners became an interested field of studying diver mutagens and their role in affecting the genetic materials. Cytogenetic tests were the main tools to evaluate the effects of those mutagens on human genome and chromosomes. Many techniques have been used for these purposes including in vitro and in vivo analyzing tests using human and animal cells. Os colectores de caça trabalham muito menos do que nós. Além disso, é difícil distinguir esse trabalho daquilo que nós consideramos hoje como divertimento. Sahlins diz que o “trabalho” dos caçadores e colectores em busca de alimento é intermitente e melhor do que o trabalho permanente. O descanso é abundante. Ao contrário da maioria de nós, dormem durante o dia. O trabalho que fazem — trabalham uma média de 4 horas por dia e supondo que aquilo que fazem é aos nossos olhos trabalho —, são esforços que parecem ser efectuados com habilidade e que provocam a evolução da capacidade física e intelectual. O trabalho indiferenciado em grande escala, como disse Sahlins, é impossível. Este tipo de trabalho (como modernamente também se designa, não qualificado), só se tomou possível com a industrialização.

Extending Russia: Competing from Advantageous GroundJoão Soares
This report examines a range of possible means to extend Russia. As the 2018 National Defense Strategy recognized, the United States is currently locked in a great-power competition with Russia. This report seeks to define areas where the United States can compete to its own advantage. Drawing on quantitative and qualitative data from Western and Russian sources, this report examines Russia's economic, political, and military vulnerabilities and anxieties. It then analyzes potential policy options to exploit them — ideologically, economically, geopolitically, and militarily (including air and space, maritime, land, and multidomain options). After describing each measure, this report assesses the associated benefits, costs, and risks, as well as the likelihood that measure could be successfully implemented and actually extend Russia. Most of the steps covered in this report are in some sense escalatory, and most would likely prompt some Russian counter-escalation. Some of these policies, however, also might prompt adverse reactions from other U.S. adversaries — most notably, China — that could, in turn, stress the United States. Ultimately, this report concludes that the most attractive U.S. policy options to extend Russia — with the greatest benefits, highest likelihood of success, and least risk — are in the economic domain, featuring a combination of boosting U.S. energy production and sanctions, providing the latter are multilateral. In contrast, geopolitical measures to bait Russia into overextending itself and ideological measures to undermine the regime's stability carry significant risks. Finally, many military options — including force posture changes and development of new capabilities — could enhance U.S. deterrence and reassure U.S. allies, but only a few are likely to extend Russia, as Moscow is not seeking parity with the United States in most domains.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
