We would like to make a formal request for a charter. We would like for the charter
to be set up like this.
3. Charter of Uptown Funk
Article 1: Structure of Government
1.1: Legislative branch
The Legislative branch of government shall consist of two branches elected directly by the people(see article 2 for
more information about elections).
1.2: Judicial Branch
The Judicial branch of the government shall consist of different courts for different cases based upon the nature of
the case(see article 3 for more information on cases) and judges. Judges will be elected through a majority vote in a
gathering of the judges(see article 2 for more information on elections).
1.3: Executive Branch
The Executive branch shall consist of the mayor, who is elected by a vote of the council of the town(see article 2 for
more information about elections and article 4 for more information about the council of the town).

Article 2: Elections
2.1: Age
The age at which the citizens are allowed to vote is 18.
2.2: offices
The offices of representative of a district and senator in the congress of the town
are chosen by popular vote. Judges are chosen by a majority vote of all the judges of
the town. Council members are chosen by a vote of the rest of the council. The
mayor of the town is chosen also by a vote of the council. The sheriff of the town is
elected by a majority vote of the police force.

Article 3: Cases
3.1: Types of Cases
The types of cases will be as followed: Appeal, Juvenile, Magistrate, and Trial.

Article 4: Council of the Town
4.1: Purpose
The purpose of the Council of the Town is to elect the mayor. It is also to be a
collective adviser of the mayor.
4.2: Members
The members of the Council of the Town are selected by the council. In order to be
eligible for membership to be put up to a vote one must be 21, in stable mind, and
be a resident of the town for 5 years minimum.

Article 5: Laws
5.1: Bill
In order for a law to be passed it must be proposed by the mayor or the Council of
the Town. Or be proposed by either house of the Legislative branch.
5.1: Bill to become law
In order for a bill proposed by either house of the Legislative branch to become a
law it must be approved by the other house with a 2/3 majority and be approved
by the mayor. In order for a bill proposed by the mayor to become a law it must be
approved by a 2/3 majority.

6.1: The Boundaries of the Town
The boundaries of the town shall be 33°35’16.58”N 84°29’54.70”W; 33°35’26.14”N

Preamble
The people of Uptown Funk in order to ensure our liberties have formed a republic for our town. The decentralization of government, being necessary for
the security of the lives and liberties of our citizens, recognize the town’s and state’s rights to make laws and enact services to the general public which can
not be established in a centralized form of government.
10. Uptown Funk Constitution
Article 1: Rights
1.1: Freedom of Speech
The citizens of Uptown Funk have the right to speak as they do freely and without the government mandating what they shall say.
1.2: Freedom of the Press
The citizens of Uptown Funk have the right to publish whatever they want freely.
1.3: Right of Peaceable Assembly
The citizens of Uptown Funk have the right to a peaceable assembly anywhere other than on the property of which the owner has not given consent to be
allowed to use.
1.4: Freedom of Religion
The citizens of Uptown Funk have a right to practice whatever religion they choose and whatever practices that is involved in the religion except the ones that
trespass on other rights of other people.
1.5: Right to Petition
The citizens of Uptown Funk have the right to petition. We believe that a right to petition is necessary for the law makers of government to hear the collective
voices of the people.
11. Uptown Funk Constitution
1.6: Right to Bear Arms
The citizens of Uptown Funk have a right to bear arms. We believe that in order for tyranny, both foreign and domestic, to be warded off that a well armed
populous is necessary. The ability to own arms in a non-militia form is protected in this town, the most important of which is the right to carry a firearm for
defense of one’s home, family, and/or self.
1.7: Right to Hunt
The citizens of Uptown Funk possess the right to hunt. We recognize that some citizens rely upon hunting as their main source of food, income, or both.
1.8: Right to a Trial
The citizens of Uptown Funk have a right to a trial. The defendant is innocent until proven guilty, and ,if the defendant is not found guilty within 7 days of
trial, all charges against the defendant are dropped.
1.9: Right of an Attorney
The citizens of Uptown Funk have a right to an attorney to represent them in a court of law. If the defendant does not have an attorney to represent him, he
can get a non lawyer representative or can represent himself.
12. Uptown Funk Constitution
1.10: Voting
The citizens of Uptown Funk have a right to vote in elections of officials that are elected by popular vote(see article 2 of charter). They also have the
right to vote for the president in the presidential election.
1.11: Equality
The citizens of Uptown Funk in the eyes of the town of Uptown Funk are all equal. No matter what the rights of all citizens are protected by
government of Uptown Funk.
1.12: Cruel Punishment
Any citizen of Uptown Funk, if found guilty of a crime, shall not have to go through any cruel or inhuman punishment. The qualifications of this
includes but are not limited to: dismemberment, death(is allowed under certain circumstances), and prison time for more than 30 years(is allowed
under certain circumstances.

Article 2: Rolls
2.1: Mayor
The role of the mayor is head of the town. He is to balance the budget of the town. He also appoints heads of departments in any way he chooses. He
approves or veto laws made by the congress of the town. He makes bills.
2.2: Judges
The role of judges in the town of Uptown Funk is to be the ultimate authority in the court room. He is to in certain cases decide the outcome of the case. He
is to make judgements that are unbiased and are based upon reasoning. He is also to keep the courtroom civil and in peace.
2.3: Members of the Congress
The role of the members of the congress is to make laws. They can veto laws proposed by the mayor or approve them. They are to make laws in the best
security of the people and their rights. They are to make laws that do not trespass on the rights of the people.

2.4: Sheriff
The role of the sheriff is to ensure the security of the town. He is to ensure the capturing of individuals who have trespassed against the law or the rights of
the people.
2.5: Overall Role of the Government
The overall role of the government of Uptown Funk is to ensure the security of the citizens and the security of their rights. The government is to enact
services mandated by the federal and state government.
