1. The Fundamental Structure for Good
M Tech Thesis Format
Writing an M Tech thesis for the first time can be confusing
for you as you might not know what elements are added & in
which order. Writing thesis is quite different from the other
written assignments which are why proper format has to be
followed. Remember, you dominate your thesis in terms of
research and information collected, the only thing that you
have to be sure about and might need help in is the thesis’s
format.
Ensure that you are writing your thesis under the guidelines
provided by your university and in the right format.

2. Title Page: Ensure you are writing a title in clear words that
explain what your thesis will be about. Under that, mention
your –
 Name
 Name of the department
 Name of the University
 Place
 Month and year of submission
Abstract: In this section, you have to summarize the key
points that you will be discussing in the main body of your
thesis. If your title or topic is found interested by the readers,
they will be eager to read the abstract part to see how will be
demonstrating the problem. Therefore, briefly describe –
 The problem you will be addressing
 The objectives of your m tech thesis
 Which research methodology you opted for?
 What are the important findings and what are all you
 recommend?
Remember, to not exceed the limit of the abstract i.e., one
page or about 500 words.

3. Table of Contents: Next will be your table of contents that
must be in the following order –
 List of tables: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4..., 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc.
 List of figures: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4..., 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc.
 Name of the chapters in the sequence such as 1, 2, 3, etc.

2.5, etc. with the name of the chapter.
 Subsections within sections of the chapter such as 1.1.1,
1.1.2, etc. with the name of the chapter.

how many numbers of chapters and overall content will form
