1. The woman
INT. DAY – THE HOUSE
Living room
Background sound - raining
ELLA staring out of the window holding a cup of coffee in her hand.
She tucks her hair behind her ear which reveals the bruise on her
face.
Flash back
INT. DAY - BEDROOM
HANNAH
(screaming)
I told you not to step out of this house without asking me.
ELLA
I just wanted to get some groceries (looking down on the floor).
HANNAH
(grips her face and slaps her)
I will decide your wants and needs.
Doorbell rings
Flash forward
INT. DAY – LIVING ROOM
ELLA jumps off the couch and runs towards the door
ELLA opens the door
JADEN
Hiya this is Jaden, the new cleaner...Ella! How have you been. I
haven’t seen you since the college is over.
ELLA
I’ve been busy.
JADEN
I really missed...
ELLA
(Interrupts Jaden)

2. What are you doing here Jaden?
JADEN
I’m the new cleaner. Hannah hired me.
ELLA
Let me show you the house.
He follows her around as she shows him around the house.
ELLA
you can start working now if you want.
ELLA leaves before JADEN could say anything more.
INT. DAY – PAINTING ROOM
ELLA goes into her painting room. The room is messy and has a lot of
paints and paintings laying around the room.
JADEN opens the door.
ELLA
(Screams)
JADEN
Oh god I'm so sorry I should've knocked.
ELLA
It's s okay.
JADEN looks around and notices each painting of ELLA.
JADEN
Your paintings are still beautiful.
ELLA smiles and takes her hair behind her ear
JADEN sees the bruise on her face.
JADEN
what happened to your face?

3. She quickly untucks her hair.
ELLA
(Panics)
Uhh...I... fell down the stairs.
JADEN
Ummm, okay.
INT. DAY – THE HOUSE
Doorbell rings.
ELLA opens the door for JADEN. And goes into her painting room and
starts painting and JADEN starts cleaning again
JADEN knocks the door where ELLA is painting.
ELLA opens the door for him
JADEN
I was leaving, I finished all the cleaning, so I came to say goodbye.
ELLA
(trying not to look at Jaden)
Goodbye.
JADEN notices another bruise near ELLA’S lip.
ELLA shuts the door straight way on his face before he could say
anything. He stands staring at the door that ELLA shut in his face.
INT. DAY – BEDROOM
HANNAH is sitting on the bed smoking her cigarette while ELLA is
sitting near the corner of the bed crying with knees to her chest and
the arms wrapped around her legs. ELLA has fresh scratches on her
neck.
Doorbell rings.
HANNAH puts her cigarette in the ash tray and walks out to open the
door
Background sound - Faded voice of HANNAH
HANNAH

4. Yeah sure.
HANNAH walks back into the bedroom
HANNAH
get up and clean your god damn face. I don’t want to see another tear
falling down from your eyes in front of the cleaner.
ELLA gets up and walk to the bathroom and washes her face. She stares
at herself in the mirror.
Background sound - Fade voices of JADEN and HANNAH
INT. DAY – LIVING ROOM
ELLA walks in the living where JADEN and HANNAH are standing by the
dining table.
JADEN
(laughing)
That sounds amazing.
HANNAH
(Excited)
It was.
HANNAH sees ELLA walking towards them
HANNAH
oh, look who is here, my beautiful baby girl! Isn't she pretty Jaden?
JADEN
(Smiles at ELLA)
of course, she is.
HANNAH
(looks at the watch on her wrist)
Sorry guys I’m getting late for work, got a big presentation today.
(hugs ELLA)
I love you baby.

5. ELLA
(Hesitates)
...I love you too.
HANNAH leaves the room.
JADEN look at ELLA and smiles. She smiles back at JADEN and leaves the
room too.
INT. DAY – THE PAINTING ROOM
JADEN knocks on ELLA’S door and she open the door.
JADEN
I was just about to make some tea for myself, would you like to have
some.
ELLA
thank you but I don’t drink tea
JADEN stops ELLA as she tries to close the door to go back to
painting.
JADEN
I can make coffee as well...I like to have my tea with a good company.
ELLA
(smiles)
...okay.
INT. DAY – THE LIVING ROOM
ELLA is sitting near the table. JADEN walks up to her with two cups in
his hand.
ELLA
thank you.
JADEN
...hmm so you have a voice, you should speak up
ELLA
(gives JADEN confused look)

6. JADEN
I mean I have never heard you talk since I started working here. You
used to chat so much. (laughs). I haven’t seen you step out of this
house either.
ELLA
I like to stay inside.
JADEN
But your paintings show otherwise. What’s with the bird trapped in the
cage.
ELLA
They are just a painting.
JADEN
Really, looks like metaphorical reality to me. Someone people are
trapped and can set themselves free yet the choose not to.
ELLA
Well maybe those people aren’t really trapped. They just choose to be
in that situation where others might think they shouldn’t.
JADEN
Is that how brainwashed and blind you are Ella! This whole time you’ve
been acting like you don’t know me. I have known you for a long time,
you were my best friend Ella. What happened to you. You're not the
Ella I know.
ELLA
people change.
JADEN
You think I'm dumb. I can see those bruises. I walk into this house
and see a new bruise on your face every day. Why are you letting
someone treat you like that?
ELLA
I love her.
JADEN
And what about yourself huh? Do you love yourself Ella? You can’t even
lie to me about this because I know you. How can you love someone when
you don’t love yourself? This is not you. You used to love yourself.

It’s wrong! And I can’t see you like this.
ELLA
(starts crying)
I can’t, leave her. She won’t let me.
JADEN takes out his phone out of the pocket and dials 999
JADEN
It takes one phone call. Just one. And you have me’ you don’t have to
do this alone.
INT. NIGHT – THE HOUSE
HANNAH opens the front door and walks into the living room.
HANNAH
(shouts angrily)
Ella! Come here right now
She finds a note on the table.
Background sound – voiceover of ELLA.
ELLA
I can’t do this anymore and I have realized I don’t deserve e this
pain you give me every day. I’m leaving. Hope you'll realize what you
did one day. Goodbye Hannah.
Background sound – police siren
Doorbell rings
HANNAH opens the door. (shocked)
There are two policemen standing outside.
