  • 3. ❚In China, AREVA and CGNPC sign a historic agreement for the nuclear power industry. The contract, valued at €8 billion, concerns the construction of two new generation EPR reactors and the supply of all of materials and services required to operate them. Customers across the globe 2007 highlights North and South America MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, United States, Venezuela 17%of sales 13.5%of employees ❚AREVA signs an agreement to acquire Passoni & Villa, a world leading manufacturer of high-voltage bushings, present in over 60 countries. ❚AREVA and MHI confirm official start of ATMEA. This joint venture company is starting the development, licensing, marketing and selling the 1100 MW ATMEA-1 reactor, designed to answer the needs of customers interested in a mid-size power reactor market. ❚AREVA acquires a 51% stake Multibrid, a designer and manufacturer of multi- megawatt off-shore wind turbines, based in Germany. ❚AREVA applies for US NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) certification of its US EPR nuclear plant design. ❚AREVA successefully bids to take over the mining company UraMin, thereby crossing a major step in the group’s plan to diversify sources and increase production. The deposits identified in South Africa, Namibia and Central African Republic should result in an annual production of more than 7.000 tons of uranium per year after 2012. Succès commerciaux Commercial successes Business development ❚In Sweden, AREVA wins two contracts, together worth around €400 million, to modernize Unit 2 of the Oskarshamn power plant and allow life extension of the Ringhals 4. ❚EDF awards AREVA a nuclear supply steam for the Flamanville EPR in France. This is the 100th reactor order for the group and the second EPR under construction in the world. ❚The British utility E.ON UK turns to AREVA for the design, supply, install and commission the onshore and offshore substations for two large wind farms. ❚In Saudi Arabia, AREVA wins a contract of more than €100 million to build a high-voltage gas-insulated substation and to refurbish 15 remote substations. ❚AREVA and SOGIN (Company for the Management of Nuclear Facilities in Italy) sign a contract worth over €250 million for the reprocessing of 235 tons of used nuclear fuel. ❚KHNP (South Korea) signs a contract with AREVA for more than €1 billion for the supply of uranium enrichment services. ❚AREVA supplies an electric supply system for ALCAN’s new production site in Canada. The contract, worth over €100 million, concerns the turnkey construction of a high-voltage conversion system to transform alternating current into direct current. ❚AREVA DONGFANG receives a letter of intend to supply 18 reactor coolant pumps to Chinese electric utility CNPEC. The contract is valued at more than €100 million.
