The American Dream Definition Essay
Embarking on the task of writing an essay on the subject of "The American Dream Definition" is
undoubtedly a formidable challenge. The American Dream is a complex and multifaceted
concept, rooted in the ideals of opportunity, success, and prosperity. As such, attempting to
encapsulate its essence within the confines of an essay requires a delicate balance of historical
context, sociopolitical analysis, and a nuanced understanding of its evolution over time.
Crafting an essay on this topic demands more than just a surface-level exploration of the
American Dream; it necessitates a deep dive into its historical origins, examining its roots in the
founding principles of the nation and how it has morphed through various periods of American
history. Moreover, one must grapple with the diverse perspectives on the American Dream,
recognizing that its definition can vary significantly among individuals based on factors such as
socioeconomic background, ethnicity, and personal experiences.
To truly capture the essence of the American Dream, an essay must navigate through the
complex interplay of economic factors, social dynamics, and cultural influences that have shaped
and reshaped this elusive concept. This requires meticulous research, critical thinking, and an
ability to synthesize information from a myriad of sources. Balancing the aspirational ideals of
the American Dream with the harsh realities of societal inequalities and systemic challenges adds
an additional layer of complexity to the writing process.
Furthermore, an effective essay on this topic must go beyond a mere recitation of facts and
historical events. It should engage the reader by offering insightful analysis, thought-provoking
reflections, and perhaps even a call to action. The challenge lies not only in presenting a
comprehensive overview of the American Dream but also in leaving room for interpretation and
encouraging readers to contemplate their own understanding of this deeply ingrained national
narrative.
In conclusion, tackling the task of writing an essay on "The American Dream Definition"
demands a comprehensive understanding of its historical context, an exploration of diverse
perspectives, and a keen awareness of the societal complexities intertwined with this concept. It
is a task that necessitates not only research and analytical skills but also a thoughtful and
introspective approach to encapsulate the richness and complexity of the American Dream.

Russell Wilson Research Paper
Jaxon King Mr. Bergmann Senior English P1 1 September 2015 Russell Wilson
Can Russell Wilson be the best NFL quarterback within his first three years?
Without a doubt Russell Wilson has proved he is better then most hall of fame
quarterbacks. By using his statistics, his win loss record, and his super bowl
appearances it will show why Russell Wilson is the best quarterback ever. Being a
quarterback in your first three years is hard to be compared to some of the hall of
famers. Although, hall of famers like Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Johnny
Unitas had great careers, Russell Wilson is the best quarterback in his first three
years. Russel Wilson s statistics were more superior then some of the greatest
quarterbacks in history. Russell Wilson... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joe Montana had a record of twenty one wins, and twenty seven losses. Terry
Bradshaw had a record of twenty two wins twenty six losses. Johnny Unitas had a
record of twenty one wins, and fifteen losses. Johnny Unitas played when a regular
season consisted of twelve games. Do not let that fool you because if you were to
take the percentage of all those records you will clearly see Russell Wilson has the
best record. Russell Wilson won a total of thirty six out of forty eight games. His
percentage was he won seventy five percent of his games. Joe Montana won forty
three percent of his games. Terry Bradshaw won a total of forty five percent of his
games. With Johnny Unitas only playing thirty six games and only winning twenty
one of those games. He only won fifty eight percent of his games. The final way to
prove he is the greatest quarterback to me is his appearances to the super bowl.
Russell Wilson has played a total of three full seasons. In those seasons Russell
Wilson has made a total of two back to back appearances to the super bowl. Joe
Montana has appeared in only one super bowl in his first three years. Terry
Bradshaw unfortunately did not appear in any super bowls for his first three years.
Johnny Unitas like Joe Montana only appeared in one super bowl in three years.
Russell Wilson won one out of two super bowls he appeared in. Russell Wilson was
also the youngest
Uncle Tom s Cabin Rhetorical Devices
Uncle Tom s Cabin is one of the world famous stories which depict the evil of
slavery. After reading the book, the audience will acknowledge the affliction of
slaves at that time. The reason is Stowe makes use of many strategies such as
rhetorical devices and persuasive elements to reinforce her central claim: it is time
for people to fight against slavery. Symbolization is one of the important rhetorical
devices. Each character in the book stands for a group of citizens in the society.
Tom represents the slaves who are loyal and afraid of rebellion while George and
Eliza stand for brave slaves who are not willing to be controlled by owners.
Through the whole story, Eva is an essential character. Unlike Uncle Tom and
George, Eva is the daughter of one slave owner whose name is St. Clare. She... Show

Tom saves her life. As a result, she asks her father to buy Tom. After which, she
always chats with Uncle Tom, and they talk about Bible. She persuades Topsy, one
of the slaves, that everyone can enjoy a happy life. What s more, she tries to touch
the heart of her stubborn aunt. Unfortunately, Eva passes away because of illness.
From my personal perspective, Eva stands for somebody in the society as well.
Obviously, Eva is only a weak girl with little strength and authority. However, she
notices the evil of slavery and tries to influence the people around her. Nevertheless,
she dies at an extremely young age. Undoubtedly, her tragedy is a kind of irony
which alludes to the difficulty of altering people s opinions about slavery at that
time. Moreover, I consider her experience stands for a group of abolitionists who are
not strong enough to influence the society. Eva s death represents the failures of those

The Golden age, for which she is credited with influencing, encouraged arts and
education. Many playwrights such as Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe
gained popularity during this time (Biography editors). New schools began to
open, creating a larger opportunity for literacy. Because of her childhood education,
she encouraged education and arts which influenced the future of Britain.
Similarly, Queen Victoria also had a hard childhood that would influence her reign
as Britain s monarch. With her father passing away when she was eight months
old, Victoria was left with only one parental figure her mother, Princess Marie
Luise Victoria of Saxe Coburg. From the beginning Victoria s mother dictated her
life. Marie hoped to become regent if Victoria s Uncle s both died before her 18th
birthday. To achieve this, Marie devised the Kensington system, in which every
aspect of Victoria s life would be monitored in order to make Victoria dependent
upon her mother ( Queen Victoria ). Although this had the opposite effect, creating a
fierce independent spirit in Victoria. Upon her early ascension to the throne, at only
18, Victoria distanced herself from her mother. At times, Victoria refused to see her
mother ( Queen Victoria ). Victoria s strong will played an important part in her rule.
She was able to make decisions for herself, not limiting herself to her mother s
opinions, creating a strong ruling monarch Although these

When I was my 15 years, I watched my first Korean dorama. Then I did not know
how it would exert an impact on my fate and view of life. This was the world
famous Boys over flowers , which became an occasion of my acquaintance with
the country of morning freshness. I strongly believe that my life transformed for
better and blossomed after watching this Korean dorama was watched by everyone,
from the youngest to the oldest. It drew me in this world the world of Korean
drama, Korean pop and Korean cinema. Knowledge about Korea was increasing
more and more gradually and new sides of Korea were opened. I found out the

very first project by filling out questionnaires of children and other tasks of the
employees of the organization that had to be done. I was fortunate to be involved
in a noble cause in it. While I was working in this organization, I obtained
unforgettable experience. Good Neighbors made me feel amenable and
responsible for little children which needed our help. The volunteer experience
revealed my feelings to the children, which have become like siblings to me. A
selfless and free aid to people, especially to the children, is a great matter. I
understood that everything we did was for the benefit of children. Even if I do not

Response Of The Human Cardiovascular System
The tilt study demonstrated the baroreflex response of the human cardiovascular
system to changes in posture. Expected decreases in BP, MAP, CO at 30 seconds
post tilt and immediate decreases in SV and TPR as seen in Figures 2, 4, 6 and Table
1 were observed. These decreases were due to increased pooling of bloodin the lower
limbs leading to lower venous return and subsequently decreasing flow out of the
heart. Furthermore, there was a reflexive response by the autonomic nervous system
in order to regain normal cardiovascular parameters mediated by the baroreceptors.
Going from supine to standing position induced changes in the hydrostatic
pressure experienced by the superior and inferior regions of the body. As tilt
occurred blood began to pool in highly distensible veins of the lower region.
Because of this pooling phenomena there was an expected reduction in venous
return to the heart and subsequently a reduced CO (Fig. 5) as seen 30 seconds post
tilt (Sherwood, 2013). This reduced CO exemplifies the Frank Starling Law of the
Heart which states that reduced venous return will result in reduced CO by the
heart (Sherwood, 2013). The Frank Starling Law can also explain lowered SV as
seen in Figure 4. The only explanation to why CO (a product of HR and SV) might
have increased in this experiment immediately after tilt was because HR (Fig. 1)
significantly increased at the same time in comparison to the small decrease in SV as
seen in Figure 4. MAP and BP decreases were

The state s increasingly diverse age structure is extremely changing patterns in the
household composition. To be precise, the household size is shrinking. Among other
factors, this trend if affecting the previous assumptions about the choices of the
suburban versus the city housing based on age.
The combination for the continuing preference for two or one children and longer
life expectancies will basically make the households without children very large and
numerous. The household growth focuses on the older age groups while the
traditional family is focused in accounting for only one in five households in the year
2025. Professionals will have to investigate and develop ways on how to
accommodate the greater and different varieties of household types whether for
construction, financing or management of housing.
Income is a very influential role in determining the housing preferences and
resources of Americans. Households that are developed for pre retirement and post
family have higher incomes generally compared to the average households for all,
while minority households and younger households with children usually have lower
incomes (Regis, 2008). The growing older population experiences income inequality
compared to the households under the age of 55 years. The renters or owners to the
households may become a critical issue in the debates in regards to adjusting the
basic household policies in order to accommodate a population
Ottoman Empire Pros And Cons
The ruling elite of the Ottoman Empire were unique, because they were a foreign
influence, which shaped the way they were perceived and how they displayed their
identity. This was because; they were Devirshirme, recruits of the child levy system.
They served in either the palace service or the Janissary military system. Their status
as the ruling elite was bittersweet, filled with pros and cons. The Janissaries formed
a powerful interest group, which allowed them to project their power to the Sultan as
well as the people.

and soldiers. They were recruited primarily from the Balkans, but also from other

Though they were elite the Devirshme had its cons as well.
Various pros and cons shaped the identity of the ruling elite. The Devirshirme
received tax exemption, which created distinction between them and the rest of the
population. Furthermore, it allowed them to accumulate more wealth, which widened
the gap between the ruling elite and the subjects. Yet the ruling elite had a dual
nature, they were also viewed as slaves of the Sultan. Islamic law stated that the
Sultan was the protector of his subjects. As slaves of the Sultan, the ruling elite were
bound by this, and had little authority over the population. Yet they viewed
themselves as elite and not slaves. Therefore, they sought diplomatic ways of
projecting their identity and influence.
As the janissaries swelled in numbers they formed a formidable interest group. The
janissaries often held strikes against the debasements of currency or unfair officials.
Strikes served as an effective tool in influencing legislation and projecting their
influence to the Sultan and the population. The janissaries also formed palace
alliances, for example, at times they allied themselves with one of the queen mothers
or the statesmen in palace service to affect which heir would be sultan. The statesmen
also sought to influence the harem and effect legislation. This would ensure that the
ruling elite s interests were met by the new sultan.
The dual identity of the Devirshme, as the
Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle And Thermodynamics
Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle and Thermodynamics
I m writing this research paper for my Thermodynamics class with Professor Roh. I
have a big interest in turbine gas engines and how they operate. My future goal within
mechanical engineering is to learn how to maintain and design turbine gas engines.
How do Turbine Gas Engines operate?
I read this article at Wartsila website which enlightened me that Gas turbines are
comprised of three primary sections mounted on the same shaft: the compressor,
the combustor and the turbine. The compressor can be either axial flow or
centrifugal flow. Axial flow compressors are more common in power generation
because they have higher flow rates and efficiencies. The acceleration of the air
through the rotating blades and diffusion by the stators increases the pressure and
reduces the volume of the air. Although no heat is added, the compression of the air
also causes the temperature to increase. The compressed air is mixed with fuel
which ignites under constant pressure conditions and the hot combustion products
(gases) are directed through the turbine where it expands rapidly and imparts
rotation to the shaft. The turbine is also comprised of stages, each with a row of
stationary blades (or nozzles) to direct the expanding gases followed by a row of
moving blades. The rotation of the shaft drives the compressor to draw in and
compress more air to sustain continuous combustion. The remaining shaft power is
used to drive a generator
A Brief Note On Personal Hygiene And Health Hygiene
There are many reasons why personal hygiene is important. Some of the reasons
are taking care of your teeth so they don t fall out, taking care of your hair so it
stays healthy, taking showers to stay clean, or just washing your hands to keep them
clean. There are so many more ways to take care of personal hygienesuch as changing
your clothes on a daily basis, eating the right foods, being careful of what you re
touching or what you re chewing on. There are many places that can help with
your hygiene like dentists or orthodontist. So are you really taking care of your
personal hygiene? Personal hygiene is very important for many reasons. One
reason is if you don t take care of your teeth, they could rot and possibly fall out.
This would not be enjoyable because you would have to get false teeth or just
never have teeth. It would be very challenging to eat without teeth. This could also
result in having to pay very large amounts of money. Another reason hygiene is
important is your hair. If you don t take care of your hair, you can get very
unhealthy hair and scalp issues such as Dandruff . Dandruff is small pieces of
dead skin in a person s hair. Signs of dandruff is a itchy scalp or white flakes in
your hair. This is not because of dryness but because it s usually the result of too
much oil rather than too little in your hair. Taking showers can reduce getting
dandruff because the water can wash the extra, not needed, oil out. Personal hygiene
also includes just
Analysis Of Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years Of Good Prayers
Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years of Good Prayers has a recurring theme among its
protagonists. Several characters have not met certain emotional needs which leaves
them searching for ways to meet these needs wherever possible. Oftentimes,
characters enter a one sided relationship and give themselves completely to a person
with nothing in return because it fulfills whatever needs the character has. These
relationships are most evident in Extra and A Thousand Years of Good Prayers
.
In Extra, Granny Lin s emotional deficit comes from her lack of relationships
throughout her life. Her whole life she was never married, never had any children,
and cooped up in a factory all day. After Granny lin was forced to retire, Auntie Wang
arranged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one sidedness of the relationship is physical as well. Granny Lin looks out for
Kang by supplying him with socks to save him embarrassment (Li 19).
The way Granny Lin describes her relationship with Kang also shows how she has
been deprived of romantic love her whole life. She wonders if this is the love she
missed in her younger years, hand and hand with a dear boy and in the closing lines
of the story she calls her time with Kang her brief love story (Li 18, 22).
While I concede that Granny Lin s relationship with Kang is problematic given the
age difference, I contend that, knowing what the reader knows about Granny Lin s
lonely past, the relationship takes on a new light. The life Granny Lin led prior to
her factory retirement left her emotionally starved and put her romantic and
emotional desires in a state of dormancy. These buried and dormant desires were
awoken by Old Tang, the object around which her feelings were able to manifest.
After Tang s death, those feelings may have left Granny Lin feeling even more
empty because now she was aware of them but had nobody to love. Her relationship
with Kang arose because they were both the most vulnerable in the school. She was
vulnerable due to her emotional and romantic cavities, while Kang was vulnerable
because of his familial issues. Some might call Granny Lin s love for Kang
predatory, but it comes
Margina Busby Assistive Technology Analysis
In the Overview of Assistive Technology and Implementation Video by Margina
Busby, she gives a lecture on what assistive technology is and how it can be used in
the classroom. I learned that assistive technology is any item, piece of equipment or
product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or
customized that is used to increase, maintain, or improve capabilities of individuals
with disabilities. Some examples of assisted technology are calculators, pencil grips,
pocket dictionaries, communication systems (with or without voice output), adapted
textbooks, and modified utensils. It is interesting to see all of the different forms of
assistive technologythat can be used in the classroom. I am currently taking a class...

When I was in elementary and middle school I would use pencil grips because I did
a lot of writing. My hand would start to cramp up and hurt and the pencil grip
would help ease the pain. I also used other items such as a pocket dictionary, a
calculator, and wide spaced lined paper. Growing up I used these items in the
classroom and while I was at home. The teacher would require us to use these
items when she was teaching a lesson. It was interesting to learn that the windows
program has an accessibility option. I believe that the computer is one of the best
assistive technologies because there are so many things that you can do on the
computer. There are websites that the students can use as well as programs
designed especially for them. One point that I got out of Ms. Busby s lecture is
that teachers need to use all of their resources. There are so many items and ways to
use those items that teachers can use to help their students excel in the classroom. I
know that this video is rather old, but one question I have for the guest speaker is
what are some assistive technology that teachers are using in the classroom today?
Another question I have for the guest speaker is there a time length on certain
assistive technologies? For example, John should only use the wide line paper for

The Effects Of Parental Incarceration On Children s...
The Impact Parental Incarceration on Children s Development and Attachment Style
The greatest threat to a child s well being in the United States is parental
incarceration The Sentencing Project. A 500% increase has made The land of the
Free the top country in the world for housing inmates in its correctional facilities,
with more than 2.2 million currently incarcerated (BJS, 2011). Excusing one s views
on the appropriateness of the justice system and incarceration, it is evident that
parental imprisonment disrupts the relationship between a parent and a child
tremendously. In addition to the absence of nurturance, economic stresses are
heightened which can cause the remaining family to become unstable. Because there
has is not a lot of research dedicated to the wellbeing of children who have a parent
incarcerated, it is vital that more attention be paid to the nations children. Our goal in
this paper is to examine the impact of parental incarceration on children s
development and attachment style.
The background literature for this topic has been subdivided into three categories. To
understand the impact of incarceration we must first look at the parent child
relationship, warm parental interactions are associated with effective problem solving
in adolescence and adulthood, while hostile interactions are associated with
destructive adolescent behavior (Ge, Best, Conger Simons, 1996a; Rueter conger,
1995). We must observe the

A Rhetorical Analysis of former President Ronald Reagan s 1987 Address at the
Brandenburg Gate In the speech Tear Down this Wall , the author, Peter Robinson a
speechwriter for the White House, attempts to end the divide between East and West
Berlin. Robinson wrote the speech; however, former President Ronald Reagan
brought it to life when he delivered the speech in West Berlin in June of 1987.
Reagan presented this speech in a calm yet persuasive manner, ultimately winning
over his immediate Berlin audience. President Reagan s speech did not just reach
Berlin. It was broadcasted all over from Western Europe to North America resulting in
Reagan s tremendous contributions to ending the Cold War. In order to persuade his
audience, Reagan uses various rhetorical tools such as suggestions of hope, liberty,
and freedom to grab the alienated German forces and reunite the opposing sides. The
most obvious way President Reagan delivers rhetoricto his audience is through his
own ethos. Ronald Reagan wasn t just your average president; he was a
communicator. Reagan started his career as a sports announcer and continued on
as an actor, which led to his later career in state and national politics. By the time
President Reagan had delivered his address, the president had been in the spotlight
his entire career and was looked up to worldwide. He had established an extrinsic
ethos well before delivering this speech. By being the president of the free world,

The Theological Concept Of The Divine Mother Essay
Debates on the theological concept of the Divine Mother
The 20th century feminist criticism of the systems of re presentation have attempted
to expose the system of power that authorises certain representations while blocking,
prohibiting, or invalidating others .83 Corrington further evaluates that if this is true
for modes of expressing concepts in general, it is even more true for modes of
expressing religious concepts .84
Moreover, summarising Ochshorn s argument for the expression of such concepts in
monotheistic religions, Corrington states that the limitation of a deity to a single
dynamic personality entailed the assignment to that persona of a gender that was
perceived as the least limited in its socio biological role .85
Such expression is seen in early Christianity, when Jesus as the incarnation of God
has become a crucial model for the saviour of the human race.86 In the work of
Ruether who argues for misappropriation of the saviour figure in the early Christian
thought, the discussion on such gender limitation takes the most dramatic turn:
Who is this saviour, and from what does he save us? This saviour of men comes to
free men from birth, from women, from earth, and from limits. This saviour can
only come in the image of the male. As God can only be imaged as male, as the
male is the proper image of God, so the saviour too must be male.... .87
The key to understanding this tension lies in understanding of both the
aforementioned expression of

However, the issue that has been confronted is the barrier to being treated equally

protested the unfair payout gap between the male and female players (Lopiano 1); it

First British Settlers in Australia Essay
When did the British settlers arrive at Australia?
The first fleet arrived at Botany Bay on the 18th of January 1788 which was later
declared as an official prison. The Captain of the fleet, Captain Phillips however
found out that the harbour was in lack of fresh water therefore was unsuitable for
conviction. The fleet then redirected to Port Jackson which then marked the official
first European landing on Sydney Harbour.
While setting up the official penal colony 751 convicts along with 252 marines were
released and eventually given land to start a new colony. Later in 1790 and 1791
two more conflict fleets arrived along with the first free settlers in 1793. From 1788

The battle between the settlers and Aborigines increased when Macquarie became
Governor and believed that the Aborigines should be civilised. This is another way
of saying to convert Aboriginal ways into European ways. Macquarie tried very hard
to teach new techniques or educating them however these failures made him very
mad and desperate. In his perspective the rightful last resort was to put the Aboriginal
land and people under his control by saying anyone is permitted to shoot Aborigines
if they retaliated or resisted.
What Infectious diseases were introduced to the Aborigines?
The infectious diseases that were introduced by the British settlers were an immediate

Aborigines had no sort of contact with the diseases brought therefore their bodies

Socrates Trial Essay
Socrates Trial
In 399 B.C., Socrates, a seventy year old man, was brought to trial. He faced
several accusations of different sorts. Initially, the court had pronounced Socrates
guilty. However, because the law had no penalty ordained for his offense, it was
required of Socrates to propose his own penalty, or to take the one suggested by
Meletos, the death penalty. When the time had come for Socrates to state his defense,
he addressed each of the accusations made against him, one by one, in attempt to
absolve himself from wrong doing. The first accusation Socrates chose to contest
declared that he was a student of natural philosophy. This meant that Socrates was
believed to be one who sought to replace mythical explanations of ... Show more

When the court called upon the parents and kinsmen of those Socrates had
supposedly corrupted to testify, though many were present at the trial, none came
forward. Because of this, Socrates believed that he had not corrupted others, for if
he had, they would surely seek revenge and be glad to testify against him, given
the chance. Socrates truly felt that people enjoyed listening to his stories and
spending time with him. He claimed that it was never his intention to teach
anyone, only to discuss issues with those who cared to listen. Socrates was also
accused of being an atheist, or one who does not believe in a god. This indictment
was contradicted as the elderly man justified to the court his belief in spirits and
other gods. He said it was not possible for a man to believe in divine things and
spiritual things, as he did, and yet, not in gods and spirits and heroes. In other
words, Socrates said that the belief in qualities implied the existence of those things
to which the qualities corresponded. To further illustrate this idea, he used an
example involving horsemanship, or the quality of riding horses well. If this quality
existed, then horses must also exist since horsemanship would not be possible
without them. Therefore, if Socrates believed in spirits, as Meletos s affidavit
affirmed, he must have also believed in spiritual beings, or gods, as well. And
because he did, Socrates could not have been an atheist after
Peta And Ethics
The subject of my documentary film will be based on an American interest group
called PETA. PETA stands for people for the ethical treatment of animals , it is an
organization that stands against animal testing and abuse. Founded March 1980 by
Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco, PETA s motto remains to be animals are not ours
to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. This
interest group s strong opposing stance on anything related to the animal usage norm

PETA to stop acts that seem hypocritical or honestly a bit extreme, citizens of

end, it seems the whole of PETA will not be stopped anytime soon because of the

eliminated from this group are the constant controversy pulls, hypocritical acts, and

The Books Of Matthew And 1 Corinthians
Hermeneutical Matthew and 1 Corinthians The books of Matthew and 1 Corinthians
are mainly focused around love and what that is supposed to look like through Christ.
Starting with Matthew, it begins by walking us through the birth of Jesus and all of
the events that took place during and after. It also talks about his baptism and
specifically that John the baptist was who performed it. After everything about Jesus
early life is introduced, it jumps straight into his preaching. Chapter four of
Matthew is where it really begins to talk about Jesus work. Not only does it
introduce us to his preaching styles, but it also quickly introduces Satin who seems
to follow Jesus around for a while attempting to cause problems. Matthew chapter
four tells you right off the bat what is about to take place. The first verse says,
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
(NIV Matthew 4:1). At this point, Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights,
and the first temptation form the devil was food. He says, ...If you are the Son of
God, tell these stones to become bread. (NIV Matthew 4:3). Jesus of course rejects
his temptation and the many more that followed. After these events took place,
Jesus leaves to begin his preaching. In doing so, he also chooses his disciples while
walking along the Sea of Galilee. Jesus took his disciples with him through Galilee
and began his preaching there. He healed the sick and suffering, and also performed

The Ghostly scares of the Terror Beneath The Phantom of the Opera, by Gaston
Leroux is a quite terrifying, suspenseful, and mysterious book that will definitely

horrible things inside the opera house in Paris. Many tragedies happen and everyone
flees from fear. No one believes anyone about this ghost, there is only one person in
the opera house who knows the real truth.
Gaston Leroux s novel starts out with a scene in the opera house. Christine Daae
was singing on the stage, and afterwards the managers were going to have a party,
because it was their last night at the opera house. Christine happens to be the
protagonist of the book. Christine fainted in the middle of her show and was
dragged off stage like she saw a ghost. Raoul, has a crush on Christine and wants to

The Dangers Of Water Pollution
Water Pollution isn t going to be stopped by regulations, scientists are going to have
to come up with ways to within the environment to stop it. In order to get rid of
surface water pollution, scientists have come up with ways to reduce it. Recent
research from the University of Sinaloa has found a plant that is used to get rid of
some of the water pollution. Typha domingensis is reducing pollutionfrom bacteria
from mammals by ninety eight percent ( Common Weed ). This weed is quite tall
and can be found in either shallow or deep water. In a study, the plant found nearly
several types of bacteria that was causing pollution in the water ( Common Weed ).
This plant is just a start to stop water pollution or at least contain it. Scientists have
come up with new systems that can remove water pollutants from fields. Laura
Christianson is an expert in what kind of woodchips would react with the field
pollutants ( New System ). The woodchips help get rid of the nitrate in fields. They
woodchips can consume the nitrate which is then removed from the water. To get
rid of the phosphorus, they created a system called a p filter ( New System ). There
are two different types of filters, acid mine drainagetreatment residual and steel slag
( New System). The acid mine drainage also called MDR for short, removed
roughly eighty to ninety percent of phosphorus ( New System ). The MDR filter is
by far more productive in removing phosphorus compared to the steel slag. The steel

What Is Humor In Humor
We often laugh when we see something funny or amusing. In context of informal

According to Hanks (2012), corpus linguistics is primarily concerned with
interpreting observed language in order to arrive at statements on patterns in word
meaning or syntactic composition.
Collocations was first brought up by Palmer (1933) in English language teaching.
However, in 1957, Firth introduced collocations to the theoretical linguistics.
Collocations are pervasive in texts of all genres and domains. Collocation can be
defined as the grammatical company a word keeps and the positions it refers (Hoey,
2005).
English is rich in synonyms and it often become a great challenge for EFL (English as
Foreign Language) learners. Church (1994) in his article did a lexical substitutability
test in a corpus study of the near synonyms ask for, request and demand, which results
the same finding: the substitutability of lexical items in the same linguistic context
constitutes a good indicator of their semantic similarity.

Apache Concept Of Wisdom
Wisdom is of unlimited importance in our daily lives. As humans, one cannot survive
without wisdom. The Apache culture says, Wisdom is viewed first and foremost as
an instrument of survival. (131). Like air, without wisdom humans cannot flourish.
Therefore, it is of extreme importance that, as humans, we find a way to discover
wisdomand integrate it into our lives. However, Wisdom is not the same for
everyone and therefore how each of us finds or locates wisdom might look different.
Throughout this course we have discussed the concept of place and how it can help
us find infinite wisdom. The Apache people tell us that to find wisdom we must have

mind...each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Apaches people say, steady human minds maintain themselves in a manner
that ensures their own stability and reliability. This is achieved by relinquishing
all thoughts of superiority and by eliminating aggressive feelings towards fellow
humans beings (133). Nursing has allowed me to start to develop this skill. It has
allowed me to let go of negative and harsh feelings. As humans, if we are constantly
worried about being better or jealous of someone else that we will never be able to
develop a smooth mind. In life, as well as nursing school, there is always someone
that is going to be better at something than you are or is going to get a higher grade.
As humans, it is natural that we would become jealous of this or try to become
superior to someone else. However, when we do this we are blocking our chances
to develop wisdom. The Apache s say, Steady minds are unhampered by feelings of
arrogance or pride, anger or vindictiveness, jealousy or lust all of which present
hindrances to calm and measured thinking (133). By holding on to these feelings we
risk losing a chance to discover wisdom. Places provide us with experiences that help
us overcome these feelings and create a clear, steady
Focal Seizure Research Paper
A seizure is an instantaneous change in behavior provoked by electrical hyper
synchronization of neuronal networks in the cerebral cortex. Most seizures can be
categorized as either focal or generalized according to whether the onset of electrical
activity involves a focal region of the brain or both sides of the brainsimultaneously.
The clinical manifestations of seizures vary based on the location of the seizurein the
brain and the amount of cortex that is involved. Focal seizures are further classified
by whether consciousness is altered or not during the event. Types of seizures
include, focal seizures with retained awareness: This vary from one person to
another, it s dependent entirely on the part of the cortex that is disrupted at the
commencement of the seizure; a seizure that begins in the occipital cortex may
result in flashing lights, while a seizure that affects the motor cortex will result in
rhythmic jerking movements of the face, arm, or leg on the side of the body
opposite to the involved cortex also called Jacksonian seizure, a seizure that begins in
the parietal cortex may cause distortion of spatial perception, and a seizure that

stare into space and either remain motionless or engage in repetitive behaviors, called
automatisms, such as facial grimacing, gesturing, chewing, lip smacking, or repeating
words or phrases. Some patients may become hostile or aggressive if physically
Disadvantages Of Americanization
Although America was able to gain much political power through its ever growing
economy there were many social costs during the process of growth and wealth
creation, which are the negative and undesirable effects of large US corporations
(Galambos, 933). One disadvantage of the American corporate system is the
tendency towards monopolization within the market (Galambos, 933). This, in turn,
will create oligopolies within industries and thus there will be little chance or
incentive for competition (Galambos, 937 38). Little plurality of firms dominating
the economy is problematic as economic power is so closely tied to political power
(Galambos, 937 38). Now, in an international framework, as a nation, it is quite
arguable why this would be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author describes the adaptation of European countries to this new American
challenge of increased efficiency to promote growth and profit within their economy
(44). The incentive has been to catch up with American prosperity by adopting certain
features that characterize huge profit generating corporate firms that are the ones
responsible for the ever increasing growth of the US economy (44). However, he
highlights that in actual times, although the European corporate system has
successfully adopted parts of the American style corporate structure, it has hybridized
them with socialist values and features (44). European states have been selective in
the process of doing so in order for the system to work successfully within national
preconditions and at the same time ensuring it would not undermine the social

that faces the problem of domestic violence. To comprehend the issue of domestic
violenceagainst women in Denmark, it is important to understand the background of
the country.
First and foremost, Denmark is located on a peninsula north of Germany and borders
the Baltic and the North Seas. Denmark, smaller than Vermont and New Hampshire

The Importance Of Public Surveillance
With the increase in public surveillance by governments and big coperations, there
has grown a need to combat it and its effects on society today. It s mainly a
question of privacy to everyone, can we really trust him, so what s Public
surveillance and automated face recognition? Public Surveillance is the monitoring
of conduct, exercises, or other changing data to influence, oversee, coordinate or
protect individuals. This can incorporate the use of Closed Circuit Television
(CCTV) or capturing of electronically transmitted data, for example, through phone
calls. Besides that, it s no longer a dusk to dawn activity but 24/7. Automated Face
Recognition can be best described as the use of specialised software to identify
individuals in digital images or videos using sophisticated algorithms that are linked
to databases. This kind of software is able to compare several facial features of a
person and uniquely identify them amongst a million others accurately.
In 2013, the act of public surveillance and automated face recognition by world
governments was raised after Edward Snowden exposed the global surveillance
documents. Revealing in view of archives Snowden spilled to different media
outlets set off an open deliberation about common freedoms and the privilege to
security in this Digital Age. So how is it carried out. As stated above surveillance is
mainly carried out by governments with the help of big coperations and security
organisations like the police. In a study
The Importance Of The Armenian Genocide
Krain (1997) purports that the presence of political opportunity was a contributing
factor to the Armenian genocide and that genocide is much more likely to occur
when there is a change in political opportunity. This finding can be supported when
one recalls that there had been many political upheavals within the Ottoman Empire
that preceded the genocide, creating a change in political opportunity. Valentino
(2000) also writes that mass killings are more likely to occur when the power of
elites is threatened and is often used to completely eliminate a group s influence. The
Ottoman elite felt threatened by the Armenians, which was the main reason for the
massacre, but it was made possible through the leadership s...promise of spoils and
plunder to cajole the public into participating in the genocidal process, (Kurt, 2015, p.
306). Academic literature pertaining to the Armenian genocidemainly attributes the
cause of the genocide to the Young Turks want to consolidate their own power,
which is in accordance with the stance of the film Aghet. A large focus of the
academic literature is an examination on how the Armenian genocide is
contemporarily viewed and depicted, as it is engulfed in cultural bias. The
widespread denial of the genocide in Turkey and among Turkish people indicates the
high level of cultural bias that exists. The Turkish government denies that this was
genocide, and it is a criminal offense in Turkey to discuss it. The denial of genocide
is especially
Imagery In Elie Wiesel s Night
The Power of Imagery in Night
Imagery is a portrait that is painted in your mind, a portrait that makes you feel you
are there. The Holocaust is full of disturbing and horrible images of death. Pictures
of inhumanity that just make you sick looking at them. In many images you see the
pale, unemotional faces whose lives were changed for eternity, and yet with these
images some believe that the Holocaust did not happen. In the Holocaust there was
mass genocide of over six million Jews. Also many ethnic Poles, gypsies, Soviet

more than half an hour wiggling like a worm, lingering between life and death,

With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has
performed many heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30,
2016, the 42 year old daredevil became the first man in the world to leap off a plane
from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a wingsuit or parachute! Instead, he relied on a
net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less than one third the size of a football field, to
break his fall and help him land safely.
The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States
Parachute Association (USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without
a parachute. However, the association had a change of heart just minutes before the
event, which meant that Akins had no backup during the historic leap. ... Show more

desired altitude. Shortly after, they, along with millions of others watching on
television, held their breath as Aikins plummeted toward the ground, face first, with
his arms outstretched. At about 10,000 feet, the skydiver handed his oxygen mask to
one of two team members who were doing the jump as well. They, of course, had
Change In Latin American Literature
I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies
for the hardest victory is over self (Aristotle). Aristotle was a philosopher and he felt
that a person who can put away their desires to accomplish what they need to do is a
stronger person. That is an important lesson. Literature not only is for entertainment
but is used to teach lessons. Lessons help a person grow. Throughout Latin American
literature there are many themes. However in Mexican literature, the theme of a
personal journey is frequent. Throughout personal journeys, one goes through an
early stage of memories, changing of self and then remembering the hard times and
their past self. Every person has memories, both good and bad. Whether the memory

Realizing what bad habits you have and knowing what needs to be changed makes
the process easier. The character in Poet s Epitaph desires a change of himself and
in the poem The Street his past self is gone. Someone behind me also stepping on
stones, leaves: if I slow, he slows, if I run, he runs, I turn: nobody, (Paz 343). The
character constantly refers to someone mirroring his every move but then he sees
nobody. The nobody is his past self, he thinks of his old self as a nobody. The
actual change of oneself is and can be big. Changing past habits is not easy, but life
goes on. It will continue on and one. In The Street Paz says, Everything is dark and
doorless. Turning and turning among these corners which forever lead to the
street. (Paz 343). The dark and doorless are the obstacles in life and the street is
what the dark and doorless lead to, life. There are obstacles in the life but by
changing your mindset, you can push yourself. In The Street the character goes
through many challenges in his life but he changed his ways; he forgot his old self
and moved forward. Further I pursue a man who stumbles and rises when he sees
me: nobody (Paz 343). The character forever sees his past self as a nobody, he
thinks of that person as a nobody because of how far he has come. Even when the
change has been done, the past will still haunt
Jeb Bush Persuasive Speech
linton says in Hudson, New Hampshire, that voters face a big choice, likening the
primary election to a giant job interview over who best represents the kind of
future Americans want. She is pointing to health care as a major dividing line in
her primary race against Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. Clinton says they have the
same goal of universal coverage but Sanders approach would plunge the country
into another contentious debate. Clinton tells the crowd to stick with this. We re

The Theme Of Marigolds And Hard On The Gas
Both the short story Marigolds by Eugenia Collier and the poem Hard on the Gas,
by Janet S. Wong convey the theme that is growing up and maturing isn t always
easy . Marigolds is the story of an adolescent who is growing up in the Great
Depression. Through hard experiences and tumultuous emotions, the narrator learns
that growing up is full of ups and downs. Hard on the Gas is a poem about a
grandchild driving with his or her grandfather. The grandchild realizes that the road
isn t always perfect and that there will be bumps along the way. The
In Marigolds a young girl is growing up during the Great Depression. For Lizabeth,
the narrator, everyday is a challenge. As she transitions from an innocent, naive child
to an aware, yet unsure young woman, the smooth road she s been traveling on
suddenly becomes bumpy and unfamiliar when a fit of anger taken out on her
neighbor marks Lizabeth s growing up. All the smoldering emotions of that summer
swelled in me and burst the great need for my mother who was never there, the
hopelessness of our poverty and degradation, the bewilderment of being neither child
nor woman and yet both at once... , (Collier, Marigolds ). All of the emotions that
Lizabeth has been holding in spill out of her in an audacious, violent action that will
exile her childhood; the destroying of Miss Lottie s prized marigolds. When Lizabeth
realizes with remorse what she s done, she gains the heavy burden of adulthood. In

Christmas Exhibition Research Paper
During the Holiday Season, the Inner Harbor in Downtown Baltimore has a
Christmas Exhibition. I attended the Christmas exhibition Friday, November 25,
2016, during the lunch hours. The inner harbor always has an exhibition or activity
for the public, during every season. The Christmas Village brings different cultures
together to experience the holiday season. The Inner Harbor has an Ice Skating Rink,
a German ChristmasVillage, and a Santa Claus impersonator to take pictures with.
The Pandora Ice Skating Rink is a newer edition to the Inner Holiday setup. I paid a
small fee of ten dollars to skate and four dollars to rent skates. It is a beautiful
experience to ice skate beside the water and to see all the people walk along the
harbor. The ice skating rink plays Christmas music to get patrons into a festive mood.
The rink is usually busy during the weekends, but since it was the thanksgiving
holiday there was a lot of people. After skating for almost two hours I and my family
decided to walk the harbor and see the different activities and shops there were. As
we were walking we decided to stop into the German Christmas Village.

The village has become a tradition for several families and people travel from
different states to visit the Christmas exhibition. I the one critique I have for the
Christmas Village is for everything to be closer together. Some people do not know
that the exhibition is scattered around the harbor. Everything including the ice
skating rink should be moved behind the Visitor s Center and Beside the Science
Center. The Science Center has space beside it, and everything could be all in one
place. The ice rink being at the entrance of the harbor is a hassle because it takes up a
lot of walking room for people to get to the
Essay On 4 33
Like Andrew Kania, I also believe that 4 33 is a piece of art but not music. This is
because Cage wanted us to recognize the ambient sounds in the environment but the
sounds were not organized as music is and did not involve a musical feature as told
by Kania. Art and music are similar but two different ways of expression. Art is a
broader concept that is able to fit in many different ideas of definition, however music
is not as broad because it limits itself to one type of art form which is sound. 4 33
has the skeleton of a musical piece but the body of an art piece, it is composed
mainly to present an idea through its existence rather than reach out to the audience
and influence/affect them like most music does. How 4 33 compares to traditional
musical performances has already been discussed, however it also compares to
traditional art pieces. Yet, art is such a broad category that can be reduced to many
definitions and to say one thing is art while another, it is essential to define it. This
raises the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a truly interesting piece because it incorporates all parts of a musical
performance simply without the music itself but with sound. These sounds however
are not organized; they are varying random ambient sounds that are spread around the
whole performance hall, which to most people does not count as music. John Cage,
however, does not find any distinction between those sounds and those sounds
mandated by traditional musical standards, he simply accepts them for what they are.
With many organizational similarities to a musical performance without music itself,
similar to Andrew Kania, I perceive this piece to be an art piece rather than a musical
piece. This piece furthermore raises the issue of the definition of sound art and music,
and what distinguishes one from the
Pocahontas Was Made Famous By Many Legends And
Myths
The story of Pocahontas was made famous by many legends and myths told by
people across the years, yet there is actually very little written records about her life
experiences or her feelings. What we know about her is from the colonists in
Jamestown virginia that documented parts of their lives and from captain John smith
s writings.Despite being a young savage indian girl, Pocahontaswas actually a smart
young woman that was crucial and very significant to the foundation of the first
English settlement in Jamestown Virginia. Her interesting life even had the power
to inspire Disney to make a cartoon movie based on her story told by Captain John
Smith. Pocahontas was born around 1595 with the name Matoaka and was one of
the Powhatans leaders daughters. She was called Pocahontas as a nickname which
meant playful one, because of her free spirited and playful nature. She was the
daughter of Wahunsenakah, more commonly known as Powhatan. Powhatan was a
North American indian leader estimated to have ruled between 13,000 and 34,000
people and included more than 30 different tribes with their own chief. She had
about 27 siblings, however, the colonists believed that she was her fathers favorite. In
1607 the English colonists arrived in Jamestown virginia to form a colony. At first
the colony is very unsuccessful and the native americans are very weary of the new
immigrants arriving in their territory. After a little hostility the Indians decide to
welcome the new
Use Of Hydrogen As An Energy Carrier Today
Two motivators for the use of hydrogen as an energy carrier today are to provide a
transition strategy from hydrocarbon fuels to a carbonless society and to enable
renewable energy sources. The development of a high efficiency, low emissions
Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (HICE) will lead to establishing a path for
renewable hydrogen based fuel utilization. There is a major controversy between
whether to use the HICE or the Gas Engine, as well as why to use each over the
other. There are many pros of the HICE as well as the many cons. Some of these
pros are the extremely low emissions, it s almost an infinite resource and the fact
that all you would need to put in the fuel tank is water. Though some of the cons
are, there are very few cars with these engines making them hard to work on, trying
to design the technology to run as well as a gasoline engine if not better. Though
these are major ideas to be considered the gasoline engine also has many good
points and as well many bad. Some of these good points include being easier to
work on being the fact that there are many around. Another would include that in
order for the HICE to have more power than the Gas Engine it must have fuel
injection thus making the gas better on this subject. Some cons of the gas engine
include emissions of greenhouse and poisonous gasses. Overall so far these engines
are neck in neck for which is the better engine.
In general, getting an internal combustion engine to run
Parable of the Sadhu Essay
Parable of the Sadhu: Analysis from three general approaches.
The Parable of the Sadhu presents a complex situation which action immediate action
was necessary. Sadhu, an Indian holy man, was discovered naked and barely alive by
a group of multicultural mountaineers during their journey. Each ethnic group did a
little to help the Sadhu, but none assumed full responsibility. Their priority was in
climbing the mountain rather than carrying Sadhu to the village where other people
could help him. Although the conditions of the trip were so that once the
mountaineers went down to the village they might not have been able to come back
up, the author of this essay still feels guilty for what was not done for the Sadhu
(Donaldson 280). There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They focus on cultivating certain characteristics and look at every situation in terms
of its potential influence on the morale of the person (Donaldson 10). This method,
although much more helpful than utilitarianism, still produces an unclear response.
On one hand, kindness and compassion are both virtues that would be cultivated if
the mountaineers decided to help the Sadhu and carry him to the village. On the other
hand, if mountaineers continue their journey virtues such as courage and
determination would flourish. It is difficult to decide which virtues are more
important than others and therefore, this method is too ambiguous to be applied to
this situation.
Finally, there is deontology, also called non consequentialism. Deontology, in general,
focuses on the motives of the act and the concept of duty (Camenisch 2). Kantian
deontology assesses that there is a Categorical Imperative the highest moral principle
that should govern all human actions. This universal law is stated in two ways:
1) act in a way that one would act with anyone in the same situation, and so that one
does not create an undesirable world and 2) interact with people as human beings
with rights and dignity rather than means to an end (Camenisch 2). This moral
principle would be the most fair and useful in the Sadhu situation. McCoy s friend
mentions in the essay that the mountaineers would have probably acted differently if
the Sadhu were a member of
Essay about Contemporary Religion in America
Religion is a very difficult topic to approach. To discuss religion, is to walk
through a mine field. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and beliefs. In
contemporary America, it is popular now turn from established religions or to have
no religion at all. It is not difficult to believe how science and technology played a
major role in contemporary religionin America by making our society secular. As our
ability to attain knowledge through technology broadens, it allows people to analyze
their own religion and interpret it in their own way.
Religion has stricken much debate over its origins. Some finds propose that some
sort of religion was present since the beginning of mankind. Evidence of sacrificial
ceremonies can relate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All religions address a similar form of life after death, eternal heaven, hell or
rebirth. Religion also teaches, shows the learner rather, the path to take so that his
or her after life is joyful. This is what people are looking for, a sense of direction
for their life. However, in the United States, the power of technology and science
has made our society not to be regarded as religious or spiritual. Our society s
religious beliefs can be looked at as very odd. With the separation of church and state
in America, the country actually questions itself whether it to be religious or not. All
the while, other theocratic countries regimes believe that America is a godless
country. I do not support what other countries think of America s religious stand
points. Yes, America was raised on Christian principles, but with the freedom of
religion, individuals or communities, can manifest religion or belief in teaching,
practice, worship, and observance. Many countries don t have this particular freedom.
Therefore, America is a country that is allowed to practice many faiths and does not
have one set faith for the entire country. The contemporary purpose of religion is
and will always be altering as we progress on with the world we know. Although
one of the earliest purposes of religion was to explain the mysteries of nature, every
other person has a different expectation from their religious faith. Religion gives
people a guideline on how to live your life as one should
How Does Shakespeare Present Conflict In Othello
An analysis of Shakespeare s characters reveals not only love but the deftly presented
conflict for the audience at particular times. Some characters relationships form their
identities, such as that of Iago and Richard with themselves, while other characters
present human emotions to help develop a complicated plot.
Shakespeare has shown Iago s contradictory nature throughout the play. His view is
demonstrated clearly in a statement in Act 1, Scene 1 I am not what I am, which is
absorbing for the audience as Iago challenges their judgement of him, and further
foreshadows the disasters he has prepared for other characters all for his self love.
Iago is a jealous man. It can be argued that he loves nothing more than power and his

It s as if both characters are leaving clues for the audience, who feel manipulated
and confused as to what both characters want. The connotations in this antithesis
contain a sense of harshness. Hence, it contradicts Richard and Iago s self love.
Richard because of his deformity hates himself, he cannot prove a lover (Iago
doesn t have a happy marriage with Emilia). Hence, the only way he can fight
against this is through the aspiration of power. He takes on a similar approach to
Iago, intervening in the marriage of Lady Anne and Prince Edward. First he kills
him, and then he turns to his wife; I ll have her, but I will not keep long, and so he
succeeds. According to Marjorie Garber, a woman alone at court needs a protector
there is a sense in which she wants to believe in his passion. (142) The modern 21st
century audience will be disapproving of this statement as now women are much
more independent. However, the 16th century audience would have had much more
sympathies for Anne. Nonetheless, Richard has once again been proven cunning
towards getting what he wants, like Iago. They have both pretended to love their
enemies wives, destroying their

  • 2. Russell Wilson Research Paper Jaxon King Mr. Bergmann Senior English P1 1 September 2015 Russell Wilson Can Russell Wilson be the best NFL quarterback within his first three years? Without a doubt Russell Wilson has proved he is better then most hall of fame quarterbacks. By using his statistics, his win loss record, and his super bowl appearances it will show why Russell Wilson is the best quarterback ever. Being a quarterback in your first three years is hard to be compared to some of the hall of famers. Although, hall of famers like Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Johnny Unitas had great careers, Russell Wilson is the best quarterback in his first three years. Russel Wilson s statistics were more superior then some of the greatest quarterbacks in history. Russell Wilson... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joe Montana had a record of twenty one wins, and twenty seven losses. Terry Bradshaw had a record of twenty two wins twenty six losses. Johnny Unitas had a record of twenty one wins, and fifteen losses. Johnny Unitas played when a regular season consisted of twelve games. Do not let that fool you because if you were to take the percentage of all those records you will clearly see Russell Wilson has the best record. Russell Wilson won a total of thirty six out of forty eight games. His percentage was he won seventy five percent of his games. Joe Montana won forty three percent of his games. Terry Bradshaw won a total of forty five percent of his games. With Johnny Unitas only playing thirty six games and only winning twenty one of those games. He only won fifty eight percent of his games. The final way to prove he is the greatest quarterback to me is his appearances to the super bowl. Russell Wilson has played a total of three full seasons. In those seasons Russell Wilson has made a total of two back to back appearances to the super bowl. Joe Montana has appeared in only one super bowl in his first three years. Terry Bradshaw unfortunately did not appear in any super bowls for his first three years. Johnny Unitas like Joe Montana only appeared in one super bowl in three years. Russell Wilson won one out of two super bowls he appeared in. Russell Wilson was also the youngest
  • 3. Uncle Tom s Cabin Rhetorical Devices Uncle Tom s Cabin is one of the world famous stories which depict the evil of slavery. After reading the book, the audience will acknowledge the affliction of slaves at that time. The reason is Stowe makes use of many strategies such as rhetorical devices and persuasive elements to reinforce her central claim: it is time for people to fight against slavery. Symbolization is one of the important rhetorical devices. Each character in the book stands for a group of citizens in the society. Tom represents the slaves who are loyal and afraid of rebellion while George and Eliza stand for brave slaves who are not willing to be controlled by owners. Through the whole story, Eva is an essential character. Unlike Uncle Tom and George, Eva is the daughter of one slave owner whose name is St. Clare. She... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom saves her life. As a result, she asks her father to buy Tom. After which, she always chats with Uncle Tom, and they talk about Bible. She persuades Topsy, one of the slaves, that everyone can enjoy a happy life. What s more, she tries to touch the heart of her stubborn aunt. Unfortunately, Eva passes away because of illness. From my personal perspective, Eva stands for somebody in the society as well. Obviously, Eva is only a weak girl with little strength and authority. However, she notices the evil of slavery and tries to influence the people around her. Nevertheless, she dies at an extremely young age. Undoubtedly, her tragedy is a kind of irony which alludes to the difficulty of altering people s opinions about slavery at that time. Moreover, I consider her experience stands for a group of abolitionists who are not strong enough to influence the society. Eva s death represents the failures of those

The Golden age, for which she is credited with influencing, encouraged arts and education. Many playwrights such as Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe gained popularity during this time (Biography editors). New schools began to open, creating a larger opportunity for literacy. Because of her childhood education, she encouraged education and arts which influenced the future of Britain. Similarly, Queen Victoria also had a hard childhood that would influence her reign as Britain s monarch. With her father passing away when she was eight months old, Victoria was left with only one parental figure her mother, Princess Marie Luise Victoria of Saxe Coburg. From the beginning Victoria s mother dictated her life. Marie hoped to become regent if Victoria s Uncle s both died before her 18th birthday. To achieve this, Marie devised the Kensington system, in which every aspect of Victoria s life would be monitored in order to make Victoria dependent upon her mother ( Queen Victoria ). Although this had the opposite effect, creating a fierce independent spirit in Victoria. Upon her early ascension to the throne, at only 18, Victoria distanced herself from her mother. At times, Victoria refused to see her mother ( Queen Victoria ). Victoria s strong will played an important part in her rule. She was able to make decisions for herself, not limiting herself to her mother s opinions, creating a strong ruling monarch Although these

  • 6. Response Of The Human Cardiovascular System The tilt study demonstrated the baroreflex response of the human cardiovascular system to changes in posture. Expected decreases in BP, MAP, CO at 30 seconds post tilt and immediate decreases in SV and TPR as seen in Figures 2, 4, 6 and Table 1 were observed. These decreases were due to increased pooling of bloodin the lower limbs leading to lower venous return and subsequently decreasing flow out of the heart. Furthermore, there was a reflexive response by the autonomic nervous system in order to regain normal cardiovascular parameters mediated by the baroreceptors. Going from supine to standing position induced changes in the hydrostatic pressure experienced by the superior and inferior regions of the body. As tilt occurred blood began to pool in highly distensible veins of the lower region. Because of this pooling phenomena there was an expected reduction in venous return to the heart and subsequently a reduced CO (Fig. 5) as seen 30 seconds post tilt (Sherwood, 2013). This reduced CO exemplifies the Frank Starling Law of the Heart which states that reduced venous return will result in reduced CO by the heart (Sherwood, 2013). The Frank Starling Law can also explain lowered SV as seen in Figure 4. The only explanation to why CO (a product of HR and SV) might have increased in this experiment immediately after tilt was because HR (Fig. 1) significantly increased at the same time in comparison to the small decrease in SV as seen in Figure 4. MAP and BP decreases were

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The state s increasingly diverse age structure is extremely changing patterns in the household composition. To be precise, the household size is shrinking. Among other factors, this trend if affecting the previous assumptions about the choices of the suburban versus the city housing based on age. The combination for the continuing preference for two or one children and longer life expectancies will basically make the households without children very large and numerous. The household growth focuses on the older age groups while the traditional family is focused in accounting for only one in five households in the year 2025. Professionals will have to investigate and develop ways on how to accommodate the greater and different varieties of household types whether for construction, financing or management of housing. Income is a very influential role in determining the housing preferences and resources of Americans. Households that are developed for pre retirement and post family have higher incomes generally compared to the average households for all, while minority households and younger households with children usually have lower incomes (Regis, 2008). The growing older population experiences income inequality compared to the households under the age of 55 years. The renters or owners to the households may become a critical issue in the debates in regards to adjusting the basic household policies in order to accommodate a population
  • 8. Ottoman Empire Pros And Cons The ruling elite of the Ottoman Empire were unique, because they were a foreign influence, which shaped the way they were perceived and how they displayed their identity. This was because; they were Devirshirme, recruits of the child levy system. They served in either the palace service or the Janissary military system. Their status as the ruling elite was bittersweet, filled with pros and cons. The Janissaries formed a powerful interest group, which allowed them to project their power to the Sultan as well as the people. The Devirshirme were recruited through the child levy system to serve as statesmen and soldiers. They were recruited primarily from the Balkans, but also from other Christian European territories within the Ottoman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though they were elite the Devirshme had its cons as well. Various pros and cons shaped the identity of the ruling elite. The Devirshirme received tax exemption, which created distinction between them and the rest of the population. Furthermore, it allowed them to accumulate more wealth, which widened the gap between the ruling elite and the subjects. Yet the ruling elite had a dual nature, they were also viewed as slaves of the Sultan. Islamic law stated that the Sultan was the protector of his subjects. As slaves of the Sultan, the ruling elite were bound by this, and had little authority over the population. Yet they viewed themselves as elite and not slaves. Therefore, they sought diplomatic ways of projecting their identity and influence. As the janissaries swelled in numbers they formed a formidable interest group. The janissaries often held strikes against the debasements of currency or unfair officials. Strikes served as an effective tool in influencing legislation and projecting their influence to the Sultan and the population. The janissaries also formed palace alliances, for example, at times they allied themselves with one of the queen mothers or the statesmen in palace service to affect which heir would be sultan. The statesmen also sought to influence the harem and effect legislation. This would ensure that the ruling elite s interests were met by the new sultan. The dual identity of the Devirshme, as the
  • 9. Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle And Thermodynamics Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle and Thermodynamics I m writing this research paper for my Thermodynamics class with Professor Roh. I have a big interest in turbine gas engines and how they operate. My future goal within mechanical engineering is to learn how to maintain and design turbine gas engines. How do Turbine Gas Engines operate? I read this article at Wartsila website which enlightened me that Gas turbines are comprised of three primary sections mounted on the same shaft: the compressor, the combustor and the turbine. The compressor can be either axial flow or centrifugal flow. Axial flow compressors are more common in power generation because they have higher flow rates and efficiencies. The acceleration of the air through the rotating blades and diffusion by the stators increases the pressure and reduces the volume of the air. Although no heat is added, the compression of the air also causes the temperature to increase. The compressed air is mixed with fuel which ignites under constant pressure conditions and the hot combustion products (gases) are directed through the turbine where it expands rapidly and imparts rotation to the shaft. The turbine is also comprised of stages, each with a row of stationary blades (or nozzles) to direct the expanding gases followed by a row of moving blades. The rotation of the shaft drives the compressor to draw in and compress more air to sustain continuous combustion. The remaining shaft power is used to drive a generator
  • 10. A Brief Note On Personal Hygiene And Health Hygiene There are many reasons why personal hygiene is important. Some of the reasons are taking care of your teeth so they don t fall out, taking care of your hair so it stays healthy, taking showers to stay clean, or just washing your hands to keep them clean. There are so many more ways to take care of personal hygienesuch as changing your clothes on a daily basis, eating the right foods, being careful of what you re touching or what you re chewing on. There are many places that can help with your hygiene like dentists or orthodontist. So are you really taking care of your personal hygiene? Personal hygiene is very important for many reasons. One reason is if you don t take care of your teeth, they could rot and possibly fall out. This would not be enjoyable because you would have to get false teeth or just never have teeth. It would be very challenging to eat without teeth. This could also result in having to pay very large amounts of money. Another reason hygiene is important is your hair. If you don t take care of your hair, you can get very unhealthy hair and scalp issues such as Dandruff . Dandruff is small pieces of dead skin in a person s hair. Signs of dandruff is a itchy scalp or white flakes in your hair. This is not because of dryness but because it s usually the result of too much oil rather than too little in your hair. Taking showers can reduce getting dandruff because the water can wash the extra, not needed, oil out. Personal hygiene also includes just
  • 11. Analysis Of Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years Of Good Prayers Yiyun Li s A Thousand Years of Good Prayers has a recurring theme among its protagonists. Several characters have not met certain emotional needs which leaves them searching for ways to meet these needs wherever possible. Oftentimes, characters enter a one sided relationship and give themselves completely to a person with nothing in return because it fulfills whatever needs the character has. These relationships are most evident in Extra and A Thousand Years of Good Prayers . In Extra, Granny Lin s emotional deficit comes from her lack of relationships throughout her life. Her whole life she was never married, never had any children, and cooped up in a factory all day. After Granny lin was forced to retire, Auntie Wang arranged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one sidedness of the relationship is physical as well. Granny Lin looks out for Kang by supplying him with socks to save him embarrassment (Li 19). The way Granny Lin describes her relationship with Kang also shows how she has been deprived of romantic love her whole life. She wonders if this is the love she missed in her younger years, hand and hand with a dear boy and in the closing lines of the story she calls her time with Kang her brief love story (Li 18, 22). While I concede that Granny Lin s relationship with Kang is problematic given the age difference, I contend that, knowing what the reader knows about Granny Lin s lonely past, the relationship takes on a new light. The life Granny Lin led prior to her factory retirement left her emotionally starved and put her romantic and emotional desires in a state of dormancy. These buried and dormant desires were awoken by Old Tang, the object around which her feelings were able to manifest. After Tang s death, those feelings may have left Granny Lin feeling even more empty because now she was aware of them but had nobody to love. Her relationship with Kang arose because they were both the most vulnerable in the school. She was vulnerable due to her emotional and romantic cavities, while Kang was vulnerable because of his familial issues. Some might call Granny Lin s love for Kang predatory, but it comes

Margina Busby Assistive Technology Analysis In the Overview of Assistive Technology and Implementation Video by Margina Busby, she gives a lecture on what assistive technology is and how it can be used in the classroom. I learned that assistive technology is any item, piece of equipment or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized that is used to increase, maintain, or improve capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Some examples of assisted technology are calculators, pencil grips, pocket dictionaries, communication systems (with or without voice output), adapted textbooks, and modified utensils. When I was in elementary and middle school I would use pencil grips because I did a lot of writing. My hand would start to cramp up and hurt and the pencil grip would help ease the pain. I also used other items such as a pocket dictionary, a calculator, and wide spaced lined paper. Growing up I used these items in the classroom and while I was at home. The teacher would require us to use these items when she was teaching a lesson. It was interesting to learn that the windows program has an accessibility option. I believe that the computer is one of the best assistive technologies because there are so many things that you can do on the computer. There are websites that the students can use as well as programs designed especially for them. One point that I got out of Ms. Busby s lecture is that teachers need to use all of their resources. There are so many items and ways to use those items that teachers can use to help their students excel in the classroom. I know that this video is rather old, but one question I have for the guest speaker is what are some assistive technology that teachers are using in the classroom today? Another question I have for the guest speaker is there a time length on certain assistive technologies? For example, John should only use the wide line paper for three weeks or until he has mastered using the

The Impact Parental Incarceration on Children s Development and Attachment Style The greatest threat to a child s well being in the United States is parental incarceration The Sentencing Project. A 500% increase has made The land of the Free the top country in the world for housing inmates in its correctional facilities, with more than 2.2 million currently incarcerated (BJS, 2011). Excusing one s views on the appropriateness of the justice system and incarceration, it is evident that parental imprisonment disrupts the relationship between a parent and a child tremendously. In addition to the absence of nurturance, economic stresses are heightened which can cause the remaining family to become unstable. Because there has is not a lot of research dedicated to the wellbeing of children who have a parent incarcerated, it is vital that more attention be paid to the nations children. Our goal in this paper is to examine the impact of parental incarceration on children s development and attachment style. The background literature for this topic has been subdivided into three categories. To understand the impact of incarceration we must first look at the parent child relationship, warm parental interactions are associated with effective problem solving in adolescence and adulthood, while hostile interactions are associated with destructive adolescent behavior (Ge, Best, Conger Simons, 1996a; Rueter conger, 1995). We must observe the

A Rhetorical Analysis of former President Ronald Reagan s 1987 Address at the Brandenburg Gate In the speech Tear Down this Wall , the author, Peter Robinson a speechwriter for the White House, attempts to end the divide between East and West Berlin. Robinson wrote the speech; however, former President Ronald Reagan brought it to life when he delivered the speech in West Berlin in June of 1987. Reagan presented this speech in a calm yet persuasive manner, ultimately winning over his immediate Berlin audience. President Reagan s speech did not just reach Berlin. It was broadcasted all over from Western Europe to North America resulting in Reagan s tremendous contributions to ending the Cold War. In order to persuade his audience, Reagan uses various rhetorical tools such as suggestions of hope, liberty, and freedom to grab the alienated German forces and reunite the opposing sides. The most obvious way President Reagan delivers rhetoricto his audience is through his own ethos. Ronald Reagan wasn t just your average president; he was a communicator. Reagan started his career as a sports announcer and continued on as an actor, which led to his later career in state and national politics. By the time President Reagan had delivered his address, the president had been in the spotlight his entire career and was looked up to worldwide. He had established an extrinsic ethos well before delivering this speech. By being the president of the free world, Reagan s audience

The Theological Concept Of The Divine Mother Essay Debates on the theological concept of the Divine Mother The 20th century feminist criticism of the systems of re presentation have attempted to expose the system of power that authorises certain representations while blocking, prohibiting, or invalidating others .83 Corrington further evaluates that if this is true for modes of expressing concepts in general, it is even more true for modes of expressing religious concepts .84 Moreover, summarising Ochshorn s argument for the expression of such concepts in monotheistic religions, Corrington states that the limitation of a deity to a single dynamic personality entailed the assignment to that persona of a gender that was perceived as the least limited in its socio biological role .85 Such expression is seen in early Christianity, when Jesus as the incarnation of God has become a crucial model for the saviour of the human race.86 In the work of Ruether who argues for misappropriation of the saviour figure in the early Christian thought, the discussion on such gender limitation takes the most dramatic turn: Who is this saviour, and from what does he save us? This saviour of men comes to free men from birth, from women, from earth, and from limits. This saviour can only come in the image of the male. As God can only be imaged as male, as the male is the proper image of God, so the saviour too must be male.... .87 The key to understanding this tension lies in understanding of both the aforementioned expression of

My girls remember little of the life we used to have, they have spent so long in this prison, these walls and bars is all they really know. Before we left Iraq, the rebel group of ISIS was clearing its way down through the country, forcing many people away from home and down into the major cities. They destroyed anything in their path and everything that had religious significance to many people. Their power crumbled bustling cities, small towns and helpless farming villages. Initially, the court had pronounced Socrates guilty. However, because the law had no penalty ordained for his offense, it was required of Socrates to propose his own penalty, or to take the one suggested by Meletos, the death penalty. When the time had come for Socrates to state his defense, he addressed each of the accusations made against him, one by one, in attempt to absolve himself from wrong doing. Socrates truly felt that people enjoyed listening to his stories and spending time with him. He claimed that it was never his intention to teach anyone, only to discuss issues with those who cared to listen. Socrates was also accused of being an atheist, or one who does not believe in a god. This indictment was contradicted as the elderly man justified to the court his belief in spirits and other gods. He said it was not possible for a man to believe in divine things and spiritual things, as he did, and yet, not in gods and spirits and heroes. In other words, Socrates said that the belief in qualities implied the existence of those things to which the qualities corresponded. To further illustrate this idea, he used an example involving horsemanship, or the quality of riding horses well. If this quality existed, then horses must also exist since horsemanship would not be possible without them. Therefore, if Socrates believed in spirits, as Meletos s affidavit affirmed, he must have also believed in spiritual beings, or gods, as well. And because he did, Socrates could not have been an atheist after

The Importance Of The Armenian Genocide Krain (1997) purports that the presence of political opportunity was a contributing factor to the Armenian genocide and that genocide is much more likely to occur when there is a change in political opportunity. This finding can be supported when one recalls that there had been many political upheavals within the Ottoman Empire that preceded the genocide, creating a change in political opportunity. Valentino (2000) also writes that mass killings are more likely to occur when the power of elites is threatened and is often used to completely eliminate a group s influence. The Ottoman elite felt threatened by the Armenians, which was the main reason for the massacre, but it was made possible through the leadership s...promise of spoils and plunder to cajole the public into participating in the genocidal process, (Kurt, 2015, p. 306). Their tongues were hanging out, swollen and bluish (64). But then there was the revolting scene of the third rope. It was still moving, the child was not yet dead. He hanged there for more than half an hour wiggling like a worm, lingering between life and death, writhing before our eyes (65). When Elie passed him he was still alive and his tongue was still red, his eyes still open. Elie heard behind him, For God s sake, where is God? (65). During that night Elie s soup tasted of corpses. Imagine being in a cell filled with hundreds of people that are sweaty and repulsively smelling. That is what the barracks is like for Elie. People piled one onto of another all moving and gasping for air. Some people are even senselessly being trampled and killed. While in the barracks Elie can hear desperate, familiar cries beneath him, You re crushing me ...have mercy! (93). It took Elie a minute, but he remembered who the familiar voice is from, Juliek. He is the boy from Warsaw who plays the violin in the Buna orchestra. Elie yells out, Juliek, is that you? Eliezer...The twenty five whiplashes...Yes...I remember....Are you all right Juliek?...All right Eliezer (93). Elie is glad to hear that Juliek is alive, but thought he lost his mind

Luke Aikins Research Paper Photo Credit: strideheavensent.tumblr.com With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed many heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42 year old daredevil became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a wingsuit or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less than one third the size of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely. The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States Parachute Association (USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without a parachute. At about 10,000 feet, the skydiver handed his oxygen mask to one of two team members who were doing the jump as well. They, of course, had

Aristotle was a philosopher and he felt that a person who can put away their desires to accomplish what they need to do is a stronger person. That is an important lesson. Literature not only is for entertainment but is used to teach lessons. Lessons help a person grow. Throughout Latin American literature there are many themes. However in Mexican literature, the theme of a personal journey is frequent. Wong convey the theme that is growing up and maturing isn t always easy . Marigolds is the story of an adolescent who is growing up in the Great Depression. Through hard experiences and tumultuous emotions, the narrator learns that growing up is full of ups and downs. Hard on the Gas is a poem about a grandchild driving with his or her grandfather. The grandchild realizes that the road isn t always perfect and that there will be bumps along the way. The In Marigolds a young girl is growing up during the Great Depression. This is because Cage wanted us to recognize the ambient sounds in the environment but the sounds were not organized as music is and did not involve a musical feature as told by Kania. Art and music are similar but two different ways of expression. Art is a broader concept that is able to fit in many different ideas of definition, however music is not as broad because it limits itself to one type of art form which is sound. 4 33 has the skeleton of a musical piece but the body of an art piece, it is composed mainly to present an idea through its existence rather than reach out to the audience and influence/affect them like most music does. How 4 33 compares to traditional musical performances has already been discussed, however it also compares to traditional art pieces. Yet, art is such a broad category that can be reduced to many definitions and to say one thing is art while another, it is essential to define it. This raises the... These sounds however are not organized; they are varying random ambient sounds that are spread around the whole performance hall, which to most people does not count as music. John Cage, however, does not find any distinction between those sounds and those sounds mandated by traditional musical standards, he simply accepts them for what they are. With many organizational similarities to a musical performance without music itself, similar to Andrew Kania, I perceive this piece to be an art piece rather than a musical piece. This piece furthermore raises the issue of the definition of sound art and music, and what distinguishes one from the

Pocahontas Was Made Famous By Many Legends And Myths The story of Pocahontas was made famous by many legends and myths told by people across the years, yet there is actually very little written records about her life experiences or her feelings. What we know about her is from the colonists in Jamestown virginia that documented parts of their lives and from captain John smith s writings.Despite being a young savage indian girl, Pocahontaswas actually a smart young woman that was crucial and very significant to the foundation of the first English settlement in Jamestown Virginia. Her interesting life even had the power to inspire Disney to make a cartoon movie based on her story told by Captain John Smith. Pocahontas was born around 1595 with the name Matoaka and was one of the Powhatans leaders daughters. She was called Pocahontas as a nickname which meant playful one, because of her free spirited and playful nature. She was the daughter of Wahunsenakah, more commonly known as Powhatan. Powhatan was a North American indian leader estimated to have ruled between 13,000 and 34,000 people and included more than 30 different tribes with their own chief. She had about 27 siblings, however, the colonists believed that she was her fathers favorite. In 1607 the English colonists arrived in Jamestown virginia to form a colony. Use Of Hydrogen As An Energy Carrier Today Two motivators for the use of hydrogen as an energy carrier today are to provide a transition strategy from hydrocarbon fuels to a carbonless society and to enable renewable energy sources. The development of a high efficiency, low emissions Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (HICE) will lead to establishing a path for renewable hydrogen based fuel utilization. There is a major controversy between whether to use the HICE or the Gas Engine, as well as why to use each over the other. There are many pros of the HICE as well as the many cons. Some of these pros are the extremely low emissions, it s almost an infinite resource and the fact that all you would need to put in the fuel tank is water. Though some of the cons are, there are very few cars with these engines making them hard to work on, trying to design the technology to run as well as a gasoline engine if not better. Though these are major ideas to be considered the gasoline engine also has many good points and as well many bad. Some of these good points include being easier to work on being the fact that there are many around. Another would include that in order for the HICE to have more power than the Gas Engine it must have fuel injection thus making the gas better on this subject. Some cons of the gas engine include emissions of greenhouse and poisonous gasses. Overall so far these engines are neck in neck for which is the better engine. In general, getting an internal combustion engine to run
  • 48. Parable of the Sadhu Essay Parable of the Sadhu: Analysis from three general approaches. The Parable of the Sadhu presents a complex situation which action immediate action was necessary. Sadhu, an Indian holy man, was discovered naked and barely alive by a group of multicultural mountaineers during their journey. Each ethnic group did a little to help the Sadhu, but none assumed full responsibility. Their priority was in climbing the mountain rather than carrying Sadhu to the village where other people could help him. Although the conditions of the trip were so that once the mountaineers went down to the village they might not have been able to come back up, the author of this essay still feels guilty for what was not done for the Sadhu (Donaldson 280). There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They focus on cultivating certain characteristics and look at every situation in terms of its potential influence on the morale of the person (Donaldson 10). This method, although much more helpful than utilitarianism, still produces an unclear response. On one hand, kindness and compassion are both virtues that would be cultivated if the mountaineers decided to help the Sadhu and carry him to the village. On the other hand, if mountaineers continue their journey virtues such as courage and determination would flourish. It is difficult to decide which virtues are more important than others and therefore, this method is too ambiguous to be applied to this situation. Finally, there is deontology, also called non consequentialism. Deontology, in general, focuses on the motives of the act and the concept of duty (Camenisch 2). Kantian deontology assesses that there is a Categorical Imperative the highest moral principle that should govern all human actions. This universal law is stated in two ways: 1) act in a way that one would act with anyone in the same situation, and so that one does not create an undesirable world and 2) interact with people as human beings with rights and dignity rather than means to an end (Camenisch 2). This moral principle would be the most fair and useful in the Sadhu situation. McCoy s friend mentions in the essay that the mountaineers would have probably acted differently if the Sadhu were a member of

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and beliefs. In contemporary America, it is popular now turn from established religions or to have no religion at all. It is not difficult to believe how science and technology played a major role in contemporary religionin America by making our society secular. All religions address a similar form of life after death, eternal heaven, hell or rebirth. Religion also teaches, shows the learner rather, the path to take so that his or her after life is joyful. This is what people are looking for, a sense of direction for their life. However, in the United States, the power of technology and science has made our society not to be regarded as religious or spiritual. Our society s religious beliefs can be looked at as very odd. With the separation of church and state in America, the country actually questions itself whether it to be religious or not. All the while, other theocratic countries regimes believe that America is a godless country. I do not support what other countries think of America s religious stand points. Yes, America was raised on Christian principles, but with the freedom of religion, individuals or communities, can manifest religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship, and observance. Many countries don t have this particular freedom. Therefore, America is a country that is allowed to practice many faiths and does not have one set faith for the entire country. • 50. How Does Shakespeare Present Conflict In Othello An analysis of Shakespeare s characters reveals not only love but the deftly presented conflict for the audience at particular times. Some characters relationships form their identities, such as that of Iago and Richard with themselves, while other characters present human emotions to help develop a complicated plot. Shakespeare has shown Iago s contradictory nature throughout the play. His view is demonstrated clearly in a statement in Act 1, Scene 1 I am not what I am, which is absorbing for the audience as Iago challenges their judgement of him, and further foreshadows the disasters he has prepared for other characters all for his self love. It s as if both characters are leaving clues for the audience, who feel manipulated and confused as to what both characters want. The connotations in this antithesis contain a sense of harshness. Hence, it contradicts Richard and Iago s self love. Richard because of his deformity hates himself, he cannot prove a lover (Iago doesn t have a happy marriage with Emilia). Hence, the only way he can fight against this is through the aspiration of power. He takes on a similar approach to Iago, intervening in the marriage of Lady Anne and Prince Edward. First he kills him, and then he turns to his wife; I ll have her, but I will not keep long, and so he succeeds. According to Marjorie Garber, a woman alone at court needs a protector there is a sense in which she wants to believe in his passion. (142) The modern 21st century audience will be disapproving of this statement as now women are much more independent. However, the 16th century audience would have had much more sympathies for Anne. Nonetheless, Richard has once again been proven cunning towards getting what he wants, like Iago. They have both pretended to love their enemies wives, destroying their
