Imaginative Dreams
Although everyone has great imaginative dreams, often they don t come true,
which is quite disappointing. Throughout the novel Of Mice and Men, Lennie,
George, Curley s Wife, and Candy all experienced disappointing dreams. All the
characters had unfinished dreams of things that factored into the character they
became. For example, if Curley s wife was a movie star, she wouldn t have been
murdered by Lennie. With the unfinished dreams of ambition and aspiration in Of
Mice and Men, dreams as a whole play an important role in the characters lives.
Lennie and George s farm inspired Candy with the dream of joining them on their
farm, even willing to put most of his money towards it. As Candy expresses in the
novel, they gave me two hundred and fifty dollars cause I los my hand. An I...I

To george this was a great opportunity, so quickly George took Candy up on this

pleasant dream, it was never fulfilled. George, Lennie, and Candy all had faith that

As seen from the literature, there is a problem with ensuring that resources to further
education are delivered to rural high school students. This problem is apparent in the
fact that rural high school students cannot benefit from programs like Strive because
of their distance from major universities. We want to study this problem further
because the low college attendance and graduation rates of rural states like Idaho
mean that teens are lacking opportunities to better their living situations, broaden
their minds, and greater contribute their talents to society.
Research question
With this problem in mind, the purpose of the study is to find out whether the use
of online peer mentoring in programs such as Strive for College are as effective as
in person peer mentoring, and whether further efforts should be made to allocate
resources and time towards online mentoring. The questions to be addressed are as

1. Is the practice of online peer mentoring as effective at getting at risk high school
students to go on to higher education as its in person counterpart?
2. Can students possess a positive relationship with mentor support using online peer

This study examined the effects of X ray radiation on recombination frequency in

Treatment one consisted of Wild Type and Tan S. fimicola isolates that were both
treated with X ray radiation. The second treatment was Wild Type treated with X ray
radiation and Tan without radiation. Finally, the third treatment consisted of Tan
isolates treated with X ray radiation and Wild Type isolates without. A control plate
was also tested to use as a comparison (Burpee et al., 2015). For control plates and
all three of the treatments, petri dishes were prepared to cross the isolates, producing
perithecia. First, two 0.5 cm squares of fungal hyphae containing agar were cut from
a cultured petri dish. Wild Type and Tan isolates were used for the control; X ray
samples corresponding to the correct treatment were used for the experimental plates.
The agar squares were then placed with the hyphae side facing the agar on the
quadrant labeled for the corresponding isolate. These steps were then repeated for the
remaining strains/ culture plates (Burpee et al., 2015). The samples were then left to
