The Agile Manifesto
Indivduals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan
That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.
The Agile Principles
1. Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of valuable software.
2. Welcome changing requirements, even late in development. Agilel processes harness change for the customer’s competitive advantage.
3. Deliver working software frequently, from a couple of weeks to a couple of monthsm with a preference for the shorter time scale.
From the Agile Alliance: www.agilealliance.com
More Agile Principles
4. Business people and developers must work together daily throughout the project.
5. Build projects around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done.
6. The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to, and within a development team is face-to-face conversation.
Still more Agile Principles
7. Working software is the primary measure of progress.
8. Agile processes promote sustainable development.
9. The sponsors, developers, and users should be able to maintain a constant pace indefinitely.
10. Continuous attention to technical excellence and good design enhances agility.
Even more Agile Principles
11. Simplicity – the art of maximizing the amount of work not done – is essential.
12. The best architectures, requirements, and designs emerge from self-organizing teams.
13. At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.

Based on Tamara Loehr's book, Balance is B.S., this presentation explores three big myths that hold women back.
Balance is B.S. is an unflinching and honest look at the challenges today’s working woman faces in balancing her professional and personal lives. In the United States, women comprise over 40% of household income. Increased gender diversity in the modern business landscape continues to have a positive impact on bottom lines and revenue reports across the economy, and offers significant benefits for ambitious women in the workplace. This increase of women in the workforce does present a serious problem—women are working longer and harder outside of the home, but their workload has not lessened inside of the home. While their career prospects rise, expectations of their family and personal lives remain flat. Women pursue the mythical “work-life” balance, and feel guilty for not reaching it. There is a better way.
To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2019, we asked our online community of college instructors to share stories of women who made a difference in their educations. Each response was acknowledged by Wiley with a donation to one of four charities: The Campaign for Female Education, Girls Who Code, The Malala Fund, and The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
After more than 35 years of research, what educators and authors Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner have learned about leadership applies just as much for young people as it does for senior executives. What is required of young people is that they have the motivation and desire to step forward to become the best leaders they can be.

The quality of leadership you provide has a significant impact on the people you lead. After analyzing decades of research, Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner confirm this statement with some very compelling data. See how your leadership can positively—or negatively—make a difference.

The 5 Types of Meetings Project Managers Need to Master - Slide Deck Number Two: Project Status Meeting
1. The 5 Types of
Meetings Project
Managers Need
to Master
Slide Deck Number Two: Project Status
2. Meetings provoke strong emotions for many professionals.
When used with skill, they are a way to share information, solve
problems, make decisions, and build relationships. Run poorly,
meetings burn up precious time and create frustration.
Given how many meetings project managers attend, there’s a
high ROI in thinking ahead to plan your meetings. To enhance
your meeting skills, learn how to navigate five critical types of
project meetings
3. In this, part two of our five-part series covering the various types
of meetings project managers need to master, we’ll explore the
project status meeting.
4. Project Status
Meeting
The status meeting is the fundamental
project tool that keeps a project moving
toward success. Most project managers
recommend using a relatively fixed agenda
and time with this meeting. To keep the
team engaged, systematically follow the
agenda and keep the meeting held on a
tight schedule. Be sure to include on your
agenda the five key items found on the
slides that follow.
5. Project Schedule Status
Review the project schedule so the team can understand the
impact of delays or opportunities presented by completing work
ahead of schedule.
7. Project Budget Status
Inform the team on the status of the project budget; how much
has been spent compared to the plan?
8. Issues and Risks
Risks need to be continually assessed and discussed. During
this part of the meeting, invite the team to raise problems,
questions, and concerns so they can be managed.
9. Team Member Updates
This agenda item gives everyone on the project team an
opportunity to share other thoughts and comments about the
project that have not been covered elsewhere.
10. As this series continues, we’ll dive into the three other
types of meetings you’ll need to master to be an effective
project manager.
