2. FRONT PAGE ANALYSIS
The layout is very hard to see but the
masthead of the magazine is in the
top left and all the cover lines are
followed down the sides of the
magazines; the main headline is has
the typical bold and big sized font to
catch your eye. The box-out behind the
masthead makes it more appealing
and stand out a lot more. The
celebrities faces are very shocked
which goes with the headline which is
"50 moments that shocked our socks
off!" this is what the intentions were
for the author of this magazine.
.As you can also see their cover lines
and masthead font is very cartoonish
and youthful, this magazines layout is
very compacted; it seems it's all
squeezed into one. They use a number
of different fonts which is strange for
a magazine but as its for kids they
pile everything in and use a number of
different colours and fonts for it to be
eye catching to a young audience.
When analysing this I found that
they use plenty of images as their
target audience is clearly for the
younger generation and young
people don't like to see loads of
writing as they lose interest. It is a
very up to date trend magazine as
there is an article about loom
bands which is hugely popular
with young teenage girls these
days, also it uses a lure at the
bottom as it uses words like
"celebrity, boys, gossip, shopping
and fashion" which would all be
words you would link to the target
audience.
As you can see there's a lot of male
genders which is appealing to the
female gender this is also how you
its for young girls, also it shows
Miley Cyrus in a powerful position
showing her in a positive light
whereas other magazines show her
in a negative way. There’s also a sub
heading saying “hot posters” and
there’s 3 males and only 1 girls this
is also telling us they are trying to
make it appealing to the target
audience.

3. CONTENTS PAGE
The layout of this contents pages is
spread evenly and presented very
well. As you can see all the standout
stories have images with them to
make them more eye catching they
are also followed by the page
number in big font to lure you in;
another thing used is a quote from
the article which is a marketing
strategy used to make you buy the
magazine. It has a full contents box
at the bottom showing you the
different articles and the page
numbers this is significant as when
you want to read a certain article you
can find it really easy. In the lower
right hand corner it has the web
address of the magazine which is not
really important as its in a secluded
place and not a very big font. The
main headline has an extra piece of
text from a personal point of view of
one of the band members that’s why
its signed “Emily x”, this is directed
to a personal fans and audiences.
The Saturdays image in this is
represented very sexually which is
strange considering the target
audience is young females; it is
teaching them the wrong thing. Also
the “Hot Posters” has a boy with no
top which is very sexual but
appealing to the target audience this
is why it is used as a strategy to sell
and also a majority of the images
are boys which is clear why the
author has done it.
The intended target audience is
clearly young females, I think this
due to the colours used and the all
boy images and a girl pop band. The
magazine is very boy orientated this
used to make it appealing for the
intended target audience.

4. DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
This double page spread has a
simple layout of a large image (this
is used to automatically attract
audiences as he is like ‘eye candy’)
and then sub images with the main
article to the right, also as you can
see the main image is the person
being interviewed. The title of the
article is a standout quote from
interview which is used to attract
audience straight in as you want to
read more about why he said it. The
colour scheme all blend well and he
uses different colours for the answer
and question this is done so its clear
which is which and makes it more
presentable. As you can also see
there is a competition in the lower
right corner they’ve used a massive
bold heading saying “WIN!” which is
used to attract audiences.
The representation is very important in this as Justin Bieber is used to
attract the intended target audience as he is hugely popular and
attractive to teenage girls. He is an iconic figure for the young girls so
they buy the magazine, this is what the author intended to do so the
magazine would sell. The target audience is for clearly young female
girls, we know this by the colours and the celebrities used; as Justin
Bieber and Selena Gomez are hugely popular celebrities to young
teenage boys and girls so this is why they are used as they know they
story will sell.
