Magazine proposal
The title of my magazine I am producing is going to be girl behaviour. Straight away with the
word girl its targeted to girls so the audience will know who its aimed for. The difference
between the word girl and female is the age. Girl is used for more children-teens whereas
female is more for adults so as this magazine is more aimed for 10-14year olds using the
word girl is more suitable. Using the word ‘behaviour’ means the magazine is down with
what this target audience is up to. The magazine is down with that they like and what they
do, everything in there is for them as the girls and the magazine are the same. These two
words work well together and are catchy to remember, also the starting letters are GB
empathising it’s an English magazine.
The chosen gender I have picked is girls. My magazine is very girly focussing on girl colours
like pink. I will also use girly articles from boy bands to girl pop groups to draw them in with
the latest fashion and gossip also including some posters for bedroom walls. The gender will
be brought across obviously as it’s even in the magazine name. My target audience is 10-14
years of age. I know from the research I collected that these aged girls enjoy posters and
gossip which girl behaviour is full of. With a target audience so young my magazine won’t be
too costly so it will be made with very thin paper. Also the text inside will be very slang and
written informal to interact with this age group more.
First Ideas on the cover page is that it will include something to draw the attention of the
audience. The masthead will be very bold and slightly slanted putting an edge onto the title
making it stand away from the crowd. It will have a main image of the latest upcoming
celebrity as their story will be more popular while their going through a phase. It will be a
medium close up so you can’t miss when looking at a magazine rack which pop singer has
been chosen. To entice them into buying this a competition or something given away for
free will really encourage them to pick this magazine. My first ideas about what will be
included on my contents page is obviously to include the page numbers to certain stories
but the most popular topic will be at the top followed down to the lest at the bottom of the
page. Big fancy writing will be used giving a scribble effect to make it look like a cool diary
type of magazine connecting with the audience. The colours used for the text will be pink
but to break it away from the numbers they will be a bright colour like yellow. Pictures will
come along side some of the text so they don’t miss anything out, these pictures will only be
small yet zoomed in so you can still see everything. My first idea about my double page
spread was that one side would be text and the other side would be an image to break up
some pages making it look different. Many personal pronouns will be used like you to make
them feel like the magazine is talking to them.
My first idea on photographs was that they will all be highly edited making these celebrities
look extremely tanned and more attractive. All the photos will look very chilled like the
magazine has taken these photos not just found online.
