I am not comfortable in using technology because it is not secure and client’s confidential information could be compromised. If this was not the case why is it that so many client’s records, personal information from hospital, banks and credit card companies have been compromised. It will be very difficult to clear a person’s credit because once that information is in someone’s hand the damage has been done. To avoid an issue a therapist should use encryption to protect the privacy of their clients.

Much of our work with clients involves expressing themselves and how they communicate with others. The reality is that we live in the 20

century and as a future therapist, I must learn to embrace technology to be in a much better position to meet my client’s needs. Some college students don’t feel comfortable having a face to face session with the counselor and would rather opt to communicating virtually. It is important for therapist to be aware of the ways people are connecting and communicating with one another in this era. Bradley and Hendricks noted,
the past three decades, and especially the last decade, have produced enormous advances in technology (p.267). Furthermore, the advantages of the technologies will make therapy accessible to clients that live in remote areas.

Informed consent poses an ethical challenge especially if the therapist has not never met with the client in person and have been afforded the opportunity to speak with them about informed consent. There is no guarantee that the information the client sends via email will be protected. It would beneficial for the therapist to meet the client in person and obtain the informed consent and provide the client with written disclosure statements. Herlihy and Remley (2016) stated, “beyond legal requirements, however, we believe it is best practice to provide clients with written information about the counseling relationship before the relationship begins” (p. 96).

When it comes to searching for a job online, there is an overwhelming amount of information to be found (Zunker, 2016). The author goes on to say that counselors must be able to quickly sort through tons of data in order to locate the most relevant information to present to their clients. Because lots of information can be found quickly at our fingertips, career counselors have embraced the use of technology to better serve their clients. The author states that clients can use the internet to create, submit and review resumes, as well as participate in job fairs online. A big concern that counselors must be aware of, is the possibility that computer systems will one day replace the career counselor. The author emphasizes the fact that electronic systems are only tools to utilize, and that the career development therapist must maintain an active role in the career development of his or her client. The counselor is responsible for coordinating the use of the information that is gathered to help the client get a good job. A counselor may also have to help clients who are not tech-savvy.

Abstract Today’s generation of youth and adults relies
on communication technologies for entertainment, infor-
mation, and social connections and more and more, for
personal help and advice. With cyber technology having
permeated the ways in which individuals seek support for a
wide range of issues, the purpose of this paper is to report
on a study that examined practitioners’ experiences and
views of whether and how online communication has
entered their face-to-face practice and of the implication
for the therapeutic work. Using qualitative methodology,
15 social work practitioners participated in focus groups
and interviews exploring their perspectives about the
impact of cyber technology on their traditional face-to-face
social work practice. The prevailing finding was that cyber
communication has dramatically changed the nature of
professional relationships. This key finding was supported

Introduction
Long before the rise of the Internet generation, Marshall
McLuhan (1964) asserted, ‘‘the medium is the message.’’
This prophetic and timeless statement is particularly rele-
vant in today’s society, in which online technology shapes
how individuals communicate. Communication technology
is growing exponentially with each successive generation
as a central fixture within our society and has radically
changed individuals’ social interactions, learning strate-
gies, and choice of entertainment. In response to this dra-
matic growth of electronic communication and information
sharing, practitioners have offered treatment through com-
munication technology since the 1990s (Huang and Alessi
1996; Murphy and Mitchell 1998; Smith and Reynolds
2002) and, more than ever, offer interventions online.
Several benefits have been identified including greater
flexibility and accessibility (Chester and Glass 2006;
Glasgeen and Campbell 2009).
Today’s generation of both youth and adults relies on
communication technologies for entertainment, informa-
tion, and social connections and more and more, for per-
sonal help and advice. Indeed, cyber technology has
permeated the ways through which individuals seek sup-
port for a wide range of issues. The purpose of this paper is
to report on a study that examined practitioners’ experi-
ences and views of whether and how online communica-

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune Disease
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

- 2. TECHNOLOGY + COUNSELING Technology use is expanding through many different workforce fields. Counseling is an area where technology is becoming important to connect with clients.
- 6. OTHER USES FOR TECHNOLOGY IN COUNSELING There are other reason counselors use technology. Performing analysis, surveys, and observations can all be done through technology. Sabella, 2003 (as cited in Hayden, Poynton, & Sabella, 2008) emphasized that no matter what the situation is, computers are creating ways that can help perform work, communication, and decisions making for counselors
- 7. DEBATE There has been debate regarding technologies use within the field of counseling. Since online communication is becoming more useful, people are unsure if this application is superior to face-to-face counseling.

DEBATE CONT’D However, in the article, “The online and Face-to-Face Counseling Attitude Scales: A Validation Study,” clearly states, “To our knowledge, there seems to be no current systematic line of research that addresses precisely how people perceive online counseling services in comparison with traditional psychological support services” (Beretvas, Rochlen, & Zack, 2001, p.95).
- 9. CONCLUSION It is interesting that technology has the advantage to provide the public with the opportunity to gain therapeutic assistance through the computer. Although there is debate on behalf of technology use through web-based communication, it has not been outlawed.
- 10. CONCLUSION CONT’D This type of assistance can benefit both the counselor and the client. With counseling being a sensitive field to share private information especially through computers, counselors should take legal precaution before promoted themselves as an online counselor.
