3. Centre for Development of Imaging
Technology [C-DIT] is an organization
established in 1988 by the Government of
Kerala for advancement of research,
development and training in imaging
technology with implied role in socially
relevant Science & development
Communication .
Shri P. Govinda Pillai was the founder
director of the centre.
4. C-DIT is housed in 3-acre campus in the
picturesque Chithranjali Hills , beside the
Kerala State Film Development Corporation
campus , 7 km from Trivandrum city,
on the way to Kovalam.
It also has a city office in Trivandrum .
The three regional center of C-DIT are
functioning in Kayamkulam, Ernakulam
and Kannur. Over these years of its existence ,
C-DIT has taken up many prestigious projects
of government of Kerala and completed them
successfully .

Centre for Development of Imaging
Technology[C-DIT ] is a unique institution
with diverse skill sets and communication
technologies and their application . Founded
in December 1988 as an offshoot of Kerala
State Film Development Corporation.
C-DIT started its operations with two
projects –funded by the Government of India .
-in the field of research and development
in film and electronics technology &
-in the area of science and development
communication using video .
9. Subsequently , C-DIT diversified into information
technology applications including software
development and also provides enabled services
C-DIT has been functioning as total solution
provides in IT & Communication field mainly in the
government sector for the last decades . They have
also made their mark in the area of education &
training by offering a stream of courses in
communication , new media production & IT .
10. It has achieved many national and
international laurels.
The video productions of C-DIT cover
different genres of development
communication, science popularization,
education, environmental awareness etc .
Several of them have won the state and
national awards as well as top recognition at
the international festivals.

16. The innovative TV reality show series produced by
C-DIT in collaboration with Doordarshan –
achievements of local self governments & on the
success stories in school education have won world
acclaim. C-DIT has been hosting & maintaining the
Kerala government web portal– kerala.gov.in, as
well as websites-over 200 government and
autonomous organizations.
Sutharyakeralam programme produced by C-
DIT for the Government brings Chief Minister-
interactive sessions with the general public –instant
relief and speedy decision.
17. Similarly, the mass contact programme of
the Chief Minister – attract thousands of
people - each district-was also brought live to
the public by- C-DIT.
E – grantz software- a web based application
developed by C-DIT, for SCST department
got the national award for e-governance. This
is one of the several software development
and application projects undertaken by C-DIT.
18. The high security hologram labels
produced by C-DIT have helped the State
Excise Department to keep a check on the
counterfeiting of liquor bottles. It has also
been supplying - security holograms to the
Universities in the state for affixing on the
degree certificates issued by them to prove
their authenticity.
C-DIT had undertaken the printing &
delivery of the computerized ration cards -
consumers –record speed
19. C-DIT has taken –ambitious programmes-field IT
Digitalization of old manuscripts and Palm leaf
documents-----state archive department.

20. MAJOR PROJECTS
JALAKAM :
Kerala State Youth Welfare Board
(KSYWB) in association with C-DIT launched an
innovative project “JALAKAM” – to help the
people especially the youth in matters of
exchanging knowledge and extending IT based
services.
It aims to enkindle the sap of the youth to
master Desk Top Publishing, other IT facilities –
like attending online examinations of PSC &
organizations.
21. As a part of it-KSYWB awarded C-DIT –Rs. 3 crore
worth project “Skill Upgradation Training
Programme”-consisting of three month certificate
course-Desk Top Publishing etc
GREEN SIGNAL FOR PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
ACADEMY IN KOCHI
A professional skills academy is taking shape at
the Kochi Regional Centre of C-DIT. Advanced
training in Information Technology will be
conducted through the academy. It is intended to
create sufficient number of skilled personnel—
employment –IT companies.
22. COMMUNICATION SUPPORT TO SKILL
DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
It provides total Communication support—
”State Skill Development Project”-SSDP-a
comprehensive programme for developing skills –
to improve the employability of a wide strata of our
society. Another segment ASAP-Additional Skill
Acquisition Programme – students.
PORT DEPARTMENT:
C-DIT has automated all the activities of the Port
Department through the web enabled information
system. The online facilities comprise of survey &
registration of vessels, scheme monitoring system
etc

Social Welfare Department organized the
