TVET Sector
TEVTA – Punjab (focus area: Capacity Building)
‘Training of Trainers (TOT)’ Program for Academic staff members (300 trainers from 24 Institutes) of the
Punjab Technical & Vocational Training Authority (P-TEVTA) institutes in several fields of studies including:
- Electrical Engineering - Mechanical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering - Motor Vehicle Engineering
- CAD-CAM - Civil Engineering,
- Quantity Surveying - Refrigeration & Air-conditioning
- Metal Machining
TOT programs were carried out in support of the implementation of International Vocational qualification
programs.
SKILLS also carried out training for TEVTA’s senior administration on Centre management and
implementation of the qualification programs.
Aman Foundation in Karachi – Pakistan (focus areas: Capacity Building & Planning)
SKILLS provided a TURNKEY SOLUTION to implement a Technical Training Institute (Amantech) with the
capacity to train 5,000 students. Services included Layout Planning, Equipment Planning, Training of Trainers,
Development of teaching material and mentoring.
(Initial phase included training facilitation for Motor Vehicle Engineering, Welding & pipe work, Metal
Machining, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning, and Electrical Engineering Skills)
SKILLS continues to support the introduction of new programs at Amantech.
Hunar Foundation in Karachi – Pakistan (focus areas: Capacity Building & Planning)
SKILLS also worked with the Hunar Foundation on fine tuning their training processes and the assessment

Competency Standards Development
A training workshop on Competency Standards Development was conducted in Islamabad
under the TVET Reform Support Program of Pakistan implemented by the GIZ. Twenty
Participants drawn from the TVET sector in Pakistan attended the program, which was held
to further enhance their skills & knowledge based on best international practices in the
context of Pakistan.
The consultants for this project were provided by Skills International from its pool of
international consultants. The program covered areas such as:

SKILLS’ services have been sought by agencies such as Sri Lanka’s Information
Communication Technology Agency (ICTA – funded by the World Bank) & the Sri Lankan
TVET regulator – Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission (TVEC –funded by the ADB)

Ministry of Higher Education
SKILLS carried out Baseline and Progress Surveys for the English Language & IT
Competence of the students of public universities based on their study programs in the
“Improving Relevance & Quality of Undergraduate Education” (IRQUE) Project of the
Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka funded by the World Bank.
For the UNDP
SKILLS was engaged in designing the training & conducting skills proficiency assessments for
victims of the Tsunami that hit Sri Lanka in 2004, so that the trainees could be engaged in
the re-construction drive that followed. This was a component of a project titled “Invest In
Peace” conducted by the UNDP in the aftermath of the Tsunami.
New Developments
Product Development based on Research and Development
SKILLS paved the way for the implementation of a web based library catalogue system for the
Department of Census & Statistics of Sri Lanka funded under the STATCAP project of the World
Bank. The developed system is now available to libraries on request.
