Leadership in execution of Tehri Complex.
– In 2006 THDC received silver medal in the India International
Trade Fair (IITF) 2006. and was First in Power Sector.

NTPC Rajbhasha Shield during 1998-99, 1999-2000,2001-02,

• The CSR activities of SEWA-THDC, have been planned
to ensure that the benefits should reach upto the
smallest unit i.e. village, panchayat, block or district
depending upon the operations and resources
capability of the THDCIL.
• THCIL’s commitment on CSR is beyond statutory
requirements. It is closely linked with the practice of
Sustainable Development. It extends beyond
philanthropic activities and reaches out to the
integration of social and business goals.

13. THDC CSR-CD SCHEME – 2010
•The Company has framed “THDC-CSR-CD SCHEME-2010”
in line with DPE Guidelines on CSR-2010 to implement
THDCIL CSR activities.
•THDCIL has earmarked 2% of Net Profit before Tax in line
with the New DPE Guidelines.
•The amount shall be allocated and transferred every year to
Non-Lapsable CSR Fund for implementation of various
THDC CSR-CD Schemes.

14. •The Corporate S&E Department is responsible for overall implementation of
CSR-CD activities of the company including policy matters, compilation of
information and annual reports, organizing annual CSR-CD meet and facilitating
the process of allocation of Annual Budget to various units i.e. SEWA-THDC,
THDC-EMB etc.
•The THDC CSR Schemes are implemented through company sponsored
NGOs (CONGOs) such as “SEWA-THDC” and THDC Education
Management Board (THDC-EMB).
•The CSR budget are being utilized as per the approved THDC CSR –CD
Scheme at operational business locations and broad geographical areas.

IMPLEMENTATION MECHANISM:
15. MAIN FOCUS OF SEWA-THDC IS ON
• Sustainable Livelihood
• Integrated Rural Development in the State of Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh
& Delhi on long term basis.
• Strengthening the capacity of local people in the area of Natural Resource
Management and Livelihood Promotion.
• Promotion of Self Help Groups, from the targeted community, so that
they could understand local needs and make their own programmes.
• The current Income Generation & Sustainable Livelihood Promotion
Programmes will benefit around 21500 population of 50 most affected
villages in Tehri District.
• Similar kind of Programmes are being launched in the villages of Distrct
Sultanpur & Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh.

Main Focus Of SEWA-THDC Is On………..
• The CSR activities of SEWA-THDC, have been planned to
ensure that the benefits should reach upto the smallest unit i.e.
village, panchayat, block or district depending upon the
operations and resources capability of the THDCIL.
• THDC CSR funds are not utilized as philanthropic activities, but
provided to the poor people as seed money for enhancement of
their lively hood activities and reaches out to the integration of
social and business goals.
• Further employment opportunities have been enhanced due to
setting up of non-polluting industries and tourism which is
generating indirect employment in commercial ventures like
boating, transport, vehicle repair shops, business, hotel industries
and several other activities.
17. Education Development
To improve and update the General awareness, of class
10th to 12th level students G.K. Competition – “Brain of
City” was organized on Dec. 02 2009 at Rishikesh & Jan. 17th
2010 at Tehri.

A 06-months Computer Training Program for 160 adult unemployed,
educated youth of minorities and other weaker section‟s was organized
at Jais, District Raebareli (UP), & Okla khal at Tehri District
(Uttarakhand) (40 male & 40 Female at each centre). The main
objective of this project was to upgrade skills, and to enable the
attendees to start income generation activities on their own or get
gainful employment.

from 10 April 2010, for the development of
communication skills of 100 Poor Students in Jais

ENVIRONMENT ENHANCMENT
Extensive plantation program has been organized through Nager Palika at New Tehri
New Tehri, for Environment development in August, 2010.
Environment Seminar and Culture activities at Tirveni Ghat on 12 to 13 Nov. 2010.
Total 300 people participated.
For the protection of plants from straw animals, 200 Nos. & 50 Nos. Tree Guards
were distributed in New Tehri on 12.12.2010 and in VPHEP Project on 20.01.2011.

and to put o use through Village Self Help Group to
improve their economy as well as Energy

26. Holistic Development of villages
•The needs and livelihood pattern of the villages proposed for project
implementation have been accessed through PRA and by using highly sophisticated
Remote Sensing GIS technique at village level, with the guidance of HNB Garhwal
University Srinagar, Aharya Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology
Kumarganj, Faizabad & Delhi University.
•Rigorous efforts and expertise are being used for empowering them to participate
and contribute in implementation of the planned activities for the community and
village level organizations.
•SEWA – THDC Programme on Sustainable Livelihood will help in regeneration of
natural resources & reduction of drudgery of women in the Villages of the project
implementation area in the state of Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh.
