Augmented reality (AR) is the projection of digital sensory information (such as images and sounds) onto real world objects (Azuma, 1997; Hӧllerer & Feiner, 2004; Richardson et al., 2014). AR systems register and render digital visual imagery as overlays in the real world through the use of wearable and mobile hardware devices that enables respondents to align, explore, and manipulate 3D virtual and physical objects in real time. The AR technology offers innovative solutions to rapidly-evolving industry training needs by reducing training time and increasing workplace safety, while supplying contemporary expert instruction on demand. This training process is active, enabling learners to “see-and-do” as they learn by providing fully animated step-by-step instructions overlaying real objects that learners are practicing on. However, to benefit organizations, the AR system should be able to train learners in their place of work rather than having to travel to a central location for the training. This presentation will describe how augmented reality can be used in distributed learning and will provide examples of augmented reality training at a distance. It will also present results from a recent augmented reality training project. Participants will get an opportunity to determine how augmented reality can be used for education and training in their institutions.

The future can be forecast from a decision based on current knowledge in relation to the trends and directions of computer technology implementation in a school. It depends frequently on the influence of administrators and their knowledge level. It is crucial to study the demand and the confidence level of e-learning implementation in the schools from an administration perspective. In 2013, a group of 120 school administrators attended a seminar workshop on e-learning at a university in Bangkok, Thailand. Fifty-six participants returned the questionnaire. The survey elicited level of their interest towards a combination of instructional approaches and computer technology. The research results are presented in this paper and outline the different levels of their interest towards each computer-technology application. The questionnaire contained questions regarding the potential of e-learning implementation based upon the available infrastructure in their schools. The results showed that e-learning was considered to be an education tool where implementation was not seen as problematic and it was likely to be an addition to the education offerings in schools. The survey also found that social networking was influential among schools, parents and students in relation to the potential benefits of e-learning implementation in schools. The survey indicates that the demand and confidence levels of e-learning implementation at the schools under Bangkok Metropolitan were rated at a high level.TAROT2013 Testing School Opening

Using Open Educational Resources (OER) provides opportunities for collaboration both in the classroom and beyond. Started in 2008 and gathering momentum over the past two years, now an online phenomenon, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) reunite different perspectives over a globalized online learning. The paper analyses the use of OER and MOOCs in different study cases in Romanian universities. Several OER initiatives resulted from the over 1000 academia involved in the DidaTec lifelong learning and training for higher education teachers in the technical sciences and engineering field as a training course for university professors in 12 universities, within the aim of improving the use of ICT in higher education. Four universities from Romania started a Romanian MOOC environment, the UniCampus, which provides free access to valuable education in Romanian language, presented by well-known professors. The evaluation and quality assurance challenges of the Unicampus are mainly due to the restrictive educational setting in Romania. Two study cases on blending MOOCs in traditional higher education courses at undergraduate and Master level are also analysed from the impact on students’ motivation. Integrating MOOCs in blended learning empower students with new abilities and requires a new and open teacher model.
