Quizzes – How to add a basic question, how to use random sections, adding questions, and overview of essential options Jump Start Saturday

- 15. 5. Minimize 1on1 Training 1. Offer frequent training, tiered F2F workshops 2. Plan in-depth workshops and advertise upcoming schedule 3. Offer only 1 session of online training per topic 4. Suggest faculty attend an appropriate workshop 5. Answer questions through email or over the phone rather than scheduling a meeting

- When I started at Ursuline I had the task of getting everyone ready to start teaching with D2L very quickly. Today’s presentation will be based on mostly successful strategies as well as a few strategies it took me time to develop. These might be a little different we were at a big school with more people, but these worked well for us when it was just me doing user support and training. Establish baseline skills – what is required of faculty, what tools or tasks are required? Tier training – keep in mind that you will have a wide variety of user profiles, so you should have a plan for how you will support each tier. Leverage D2L training resources – Online videos, community, downloadable resouraces. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel Create training using 80/20 rule – Pereato’s Law. In this case, about 80% of questions can be answered with training on 20 % of the tools. Minimize one-on-one training time – Avoid 1-on-1 meetings at all costs, but have workshops and resources to send them to instead. If they still need help THEN schedule a meeting.
