Indian Education system:
• The history of Indian education has its roots to the ancient
ages where they followed the Gurukul system – a system
where the students resided in the house of their teacher until
the teacher felt that he has imparted all that he could. The
subjects taught varied from Sanskrit to Scriptures to
Mathematics to Metaphysics and the knowledge attained
would be passed on to the future generations. However, this
system was changed during the Colonial era when the British
set up schools that followed a curriculum confined to subjects
such as Mathematics, Science etc. While the ancient system
included more interaction with the nature, the modern system
was more classroom oriented.
Task in hand
• 1- Find the Key issues in current primary education system.
2- Develop a Monitoring System, which should be capable of a. Monitoring of
Infrastructure Quality.
b. Staff Monitoring (Attendance, teaching duration, Co-curricular Activities)
C. Teaching Quality
d. Office books maintenance (attendance register, fund register, inventory
register, Parents-teachers meeting register etc.)
e. Food quality monitoring.
f. Student Physical and psychological health.
g. Government Aide monitoring.
3- Improvement model for teaching staff Quality.
4- Career Counseling methodology for students according to their skills and
interest.
5- Parent - School Interaction model.
6- How to Improve Number of students attending schools on regular basis.
7- Suggest a system to identify talents of students and motivate them to take
part in national & international competitions.
8- Integration of Vocational and skill development courses.
9- Financial model to support above activities and ensure optimum assignment
of resources to cultivate maximum output.
Key issuesin current primaryeducation
system.
• Lack of funds: even after government allowing so much funds the
rate of education development is slow
• Expensive higher education and increase in number of dropouts
• Neglect of Indian languages most regional languages are neglected
due to influence of foreign language
• Problem of Brain drain:
• Mass illiteracy:
• Wastage of resources:
• General education oriented:
• Problems of primary education:
• Lack of teachers
• Lack of basic reading and writing skills in primary education system
though number of enrollment has increased
Monitoring System solution:
Monitoring of Infrastructure Quality:
 For sanitary issue- installing mobile toilets, installing water
purification units, build natural water cleaning method and
RO system installed in schools. (targeting the rural areas
where toilets are not available and no proper drinking water
facility are unavailable )
 Electrification issue: generate electricity using solar energy
and bio fuel mechanism.
 Basic infrastructure structure: ‘rent a room’ strategy in those
areas where no schools are available. villagers can allot their
house for some time. design software which is compatible on
mobiles and laptops which will provide real time analysis,
Adhaar card details and this database will be the locked
through their signature
Monitoring System solution
Staff Monitoring (Attendance, teaching duration, Co-
curricular Activities) and Office books maintenance
 Installing Biometric for maintaining teachers and staff
attendance record
 digital storage record devices: for Office books maintenance
attendance register, fund register, inventory register, Parents-
teachers meeting register etc.
• Providing tablet for attendance using the image processing
technology as the teacher clicks just one pic at the end of the
class and the code automatically recognizes the child and
generated the attendance report
Monitoring System solution
Monitoring Teaching Quality
 Differentiated and individualized learning- improving teachers student ratio,
limiting number of students in class to 30. extra classes to needed students.
developing intelligent instruction design and digital platforms that use AI to
provide learning, testing and feedback to students
 Artificial intelligence tools can help make global classrooms available to all
• More interactive learning then just a textbook like 3D models
• Providing solar powered mini projector + speaker + tablet. The tablet would be
having all animated/Non-animated video’s in it which would help a child to
understand better as many children’s house do not have internet access, this
allows them to learn from school.
• Regular assessments- testing skills other than memory, like reasoning and
logistic , creativity etc.
• Ensuring proper understanding of subject by conducting supporting activities in
class, encouraging group discussion, out of box thinking and common reasoning
• Linking subject to day to day activity to make students understand the
application of subject and trying to develop curiosity in them
Monitoring System solution :
Food quality monitoring.
• Analysis nutritional value of food provided. Preparing food charts for weeks
adding few new and local dishes. Regular laboratory testing of raw material
• Choosing raw material supplier efficiently, having regular check on supply
channel
• Adhering the food quality standards set by government
• Automation of food preparation
Student Physical and psychological health:
 Making sports compulsory for all students, encouraging them to take part in sports
and exercise
 Compulsory self defense training for girls in school
 Conducting regular sports meet at school, district, state and national
level Sport’s competition can be held just like the concept of
Khelmahakumbh in Gujarat at district level to encourage all for a fit and
healthy as well as to increase the thinking levels.
 Encouraging physical activities among students
 Promoting yoga and meditation for healthy mind
• Also more complex technology like analytics can also be implemented
to see if the child is happy/sad /attentive /not-attentive
Monitoring System solution :
Government Aide monitoring.
 regular inspection by authorities of district level
 Appointing a advisor who will ensure proper implementation of
funds
 Interacting with students to know the progress of facilities
 In about 40% govt. schools, records are maintained manually.
Though with AI , we can account the present of students of each
date, other records need to be maintained. To overcome this
problem, we use advanced database management system
• For areas where technology is nil, we use those devices which run
on batteries and solar power.
• For maintenance we will contact ngos who are willing to come and
help for maintenance..
• Access can be granted using e-sign and aadhaar number and every
time database is accessed, reason need to be mentioned.
Improving teaching staff Quality.
• Teachers who have gained a senior level experience in there career
can teach the primary school teachers about how they can teach
more meaning fully and increase the efficiency.
• Yearly and compulsory teachers assessment exams
• Regular monthly skill workshop by teachers
• Use of AI and video interaction technology in skill development
workshop for teachers ,Teaching them new and better ways of
explaining students in class
• Use of technology for better interaction in class
• Reducing teachers student ratio of 35:1 by hiring more of personnel
• Training the new recruited teachers about various aspects, reducing
training period and giving more importance to practical teaching by
appointing new teachers to schools, training along practical learning
by being in between students
• Competitions can be held like Best school and best teacher which
would be given financial aids.(District level)
• Teachers appraisal and providing them chance for research and
development activities
Career Counselingmethodologyfor students
accordingto their skills and interest.
• Students should be encouraged to make drawing, painting, math's models,
science models, craft, hand made sewing art which would be exhibited in a
exhibition held by government every month in which people can buy the
same. This would increase there level of thinking and creativity also as it
would make them earn they would be happy to explore as well as there
families. This would majorly help the government school kids who are
financially not capable it would be one of the source of income and thus
more kids would come to school.
• Encouraging entrepreneurship by conducting exhibition
• Conducting skills assessment exams , various competition etc.
• Encouraging local craft works and providing them knowledge about scope in
international market
• Career counseling about different career opportunities – right from the type
of entrance exam to be written to different scholarship available for the
same
• A campaign can be initiated like “Gift a book” to the government school to
have a library facility. To encourage reading and writing
• each year large number of students drop out in fear of paying high fee for
future studies these students should be made aware about different
opportunities other than main stream which are in media
Parent - School Interaction model.
• Parents, who do not get time to meet the teacher due to work
commitments, can meet them by the booking option available in
the website
• Developing a digital platform for parents and teachers interaction,
through teacher can send regular update about students
performance , there score etc.
• Developing feed back system
• For the rural and remote areas where parents are not much aware
about technology- conducting regular interaction sessions
• For the above- conducting workshop for parents and children to
make parents aware about the education the children are getting
• Also conducting awareness workshop for parents by tying up with
government organizations
• Teaching value to students regarding being prompt with parents
sharing with them regular activities of school, explaining parents
the importance of education
Improve Number of students attending
schools on regular basis.
• To increase the awareness about education to the rural
people there- by increasing the enrolment in the govt
school
• To create positive opinion about the govt school in the
peoples mind
• Make educational revolution with the help of technology
• Launching campaign to promote importance of
education
• Increasing reach of existing government schemes of
sarva siksha abhiyan
• Building new schools , getting new scholarship schemes
for students

Campaign program
Encouraging investment in schools by ex-alumni’s
Developing a model through which the helping hands reach the needy
students
system to identify talents
• Developing system for Critical thinking and problem-solving
• Collaboration and leading by influence .
• Developing a model through which students and teachers
can be directly notified about various national level
competitions like BrainX National Maths Contest , MaRRS
International Spelling Bee Contest , International Math
Olympiad and science olympiad, etc
• encouraging student participation by telling them about the
various aspects of participating in competition, its advantage
and awards
• Conducting various internal competition and interaction in
class room to help students know about there strengths and
weakness
Integration of Vocational and skill
development courses.
• Getting different speakers to discuss with students about skills
and development program
• The video can be contributes by Education Industry expert
/NGO’s/Corporates on an online portal which can have fresh
content every year so that the child can learn new every year
• Asking corporate houses and other training institution to
conduct learning programs for students
• Conducting skill development courses for students,
encouraging craft building , pottery , agriculture and various
other aspects among students
• Encouraging creativity among students , by asking them to
develop things in more creative ways
Financial model:
• Cost share and implementation: From FY 2010-11 till FY 2014-15, GOI
contributed 65% of the total SSA funds. From October 2015, this has been
revised to 60% with states contributing 40%.
• Developing Baal Vikas School replacing the existing Anganwadi system (3-5
years): Transforming the Anganwadi system with better Infrastructure and new
teaching styles. Teaching kids through plays, developing child interest towards
learning in the early age.
 Declining trend in enrolment to Government Schools is alarming
situation, for underutilized SSA funds and creating difficulties to achieve
Primary Education Goal of India.
 Because of Poor Quality education irrespective of Government or Private
Schools there is additional burden of private tuitions, which can be
ignored if we can utilize allocated fund in a planned manner, which is
possible with micro monitoring by Municipality or Gram Panchayats.
• Motivating corporates to spend some percentage of CSR fund in
developing the school infrastructure. Government should try to Develop
all Primary school up to the same level of Standard and has to develop
Competition between these schools.

Misc. Cost
 Teachers Cost- which includes teacher salaries, teacher
training and teacher learning materials or equipment.
 Schools Cost - includes infrastructure expenses such as
construction of civil works and maintenance grants
 Children Cost - includes allocations that directly
benefit children enrolled in school, such as transport
allowance, uniforms, textbooks and mainstreaming
activities to get out-of-school children back into school.
In addition, reimbursement of per-child costs for 25 per
cent reservation for economically weaker sections in
private schools has been added to this category
 Quality Education- covers largely untied monies for
activities to improve learning, such as the learning
enhancement programme and innovation grants to
districts
 Management - covers allocations related to
administration and management activities
 Miscellaneous - includes allocations made for
community training and mobilization
Financial model
1. Involvement of Municipality and Gram Panchayats for proper utilization
of allocated funds. Every year it is under utilized hence we can not
cultivate maximum output.
2. If any state is not utilizing the fund, it should be transferred to other
States who can utilized in same fiscal year. In 2015-16 West Bengal
spend the lowest % of total allocation.
3. Unutilized fund should be allowed for Solar Panel installation which will
help schools to be dependent on Electricity power. Which will save cost
in future also.
4. First Priority for Outgoing Finance will be on Teachers, because many
states having vacant positions, it will help us to increase quality of
education.
5. Every year based on circumstances, it is recommended to change the
expenditure % to give weightage to other outgoing components.
General management
• Establishing a thoroughly reporting relationship by appointing
heads at districts and regional level to ensure proper
utilization of government funds and enrichment of teaching
• Maintaining proper records of students and teachers and the
same being thoroughly verified
• Delegating authority of recruiting of teachers when in need
• Establishing a network for smooth communication among all
departments
• Encouraging research and development
Summary
• Education has attained a key position in the knowledge society both at
national and global level as well. Over the last two decades, India has
remarkably transformed its higher education landscape. It has created
widespread access to low-cost high-quality university education for
students of all levels.
• Unutilized fund should be allowed for Solar Panel installation which
will help schools to be dependent on Electricity power. Which will save
cost in future also. Every year based on circumstances, it is
recommended to change the expenditure % to give weightage to other
outgoing components.
• Providing solar powered mini projector + speaker + tablet. For better
interaction and monitoring activities
• Having CCTV surveillance and installing latest technology based
teaching module
• Focus on skill based education. Reward creativity, original thinking,
research and innovation Personalize education – one size does not fit all
• implement massive technology infrastructure for education and Re-
define the purpose of the education system
Thank you

  • 2. Indian Education system: • The history of Indian education has its roots to the ancient ages where they followed the Gurukul system – a system where the students resided in the house of their teacher until the teacher felt that he has imparted all that he could. The subjects taught varied from Sanskrit to Scriptures to Mathematics to Metaphysics and the knowledge attained would be passed on to the future generations. However, this system was changed during the Colonial era when the British set up schools that followed a curriculum confined to subjects such as Mathematics, Science etc. While the ancient system included more interaction with the nature, the modern system was more classroom oriented.
  • 3.
  • 4. Task in hand • 1- Find the Key issues in current primary education system. 2- Develop a Monitoring System, which should be capable of a. Monitoring of Infrastructure Quality. b. Staff Monitoring (Attendance, teaching duration, Co-curricular Activities) C. Teaching Quality d. Office books maintenance (attendance register, fund register, inventory register, Parents-teachers meeting register etc.) e. Food quality monitoring. f. Student Physical and psychological health. g. Government Aide monitoring. 3- Improvement model for teaching staff Quality. 4- Career Counseling methodology for students according to their skills and interest. 5- Parent - School Interaction model. 6- How to Improve Number of students attending schools on regular basis. 7- Suggest a system to identify talents of students and motivate them to take part in national & international competitions. 8- Integration of Vocational and skill development courses. 9- Financial model to support above activities and ensure optimum assignment of resources to cultivate maximum output.
  • 5. Key issuesin current primaryeducation system. • Lack of funds: even after government allowing so much funds the rate of education development is slow • Expensive higher education and increase in number of dropouts • Neglect of Indian languages most regional languages are neglected due to influence of foreign language • Problem of Brain drain: • Mass illiteracy: • Wastage of resources: • General education oriented: • Problems of primary education: • Lack of teachers • Lack of basic reading and writing skills in primary education system though number of enrollment has increased
  • 6. Monitoring System solution: Monitoring of Infrastructure Quality:  For sanitary issue- installing mobile toilets, installing water purification units, build natural water cleaning method and RO system installed in schools. (targeting the rural areas where toilets are not available and no proper drinking water facility are unavailable )  Electrification issue: generate electricity using solar energy and bio fuel mechanism.  Basic infrastructure structure: ‘rent a room’ strategy in those areas where no schools are available. villagers can allot their house for some time. design software which is compatible on mobiles and laptops which will provide real time analysis, Adhaar card details and this database will be the locked through their signature
  • 7. Monitoring System solution Staff Monitoring (Attendance, teaching duration, Co- curricular Activities) and Office books maintenance  Installing Biometric for maintaining teachers and staff attendance record  digital storage record devices: for Office books maintenance attendance register, fund register, inventory register, Parents- teachers meeting register etc. • Providing tablet for attendance using the image processing technology as the teacher clicks just one pic at the end of the class and the code automatically recognizes the child and generated the attendance report
  • 8. Monitoring System solution Monitoring Teaching Quality  Differentiated and individualized learning- improving teachers student ratio, limiting number of students in class to 30. extra classes to needed students. developing intelligent instruction design and digital platforms that use AI to provide learning, testing and feedback to students  Artificial intelligence tools can help make global classrooms available to all • More interactive learning then just a textbook like 3D models • Providing solar powered mini projector + speaker + tablet. The tablet would be having all animated/Non-animated video’s in it which would help a child to understand better as many children’s house do not have internet access, this allows them to learn from school. • Regular assessments- testing skills other than memory, like reasoning and logistic , creativity etc. • Ensuring proper understanding of subject by conducting supporting activities in class, encouraging group discussion, out of box thinking and common reasoning • Linking subject to day to day activity to make students understand the application of subject and trying to develop curiosity in them
  • 9. Monitoring System solution : Food quality monitoring. • Analysis nutritional value of food provided. Preparing food charts for weeks adding few new and local dishes. Regular laboratory testing of raw material • Choosing raw material supplier efficiently, having regular check on supply channel • Adhering the food quality standards set by government • Automation of food preparation Student Physical and psychological health:  Making sports compulsory for all students, encouraging them to take part in sports and exercise  Compulsory self defense training for girls in school  Conducting regular sports meet at school, district, state and national level Sport’s competition can be held just like the concept of Khelmahakumbh in Gujarat at district level to encourage all for a fit and healthy as well as to increase the thinking levels.  Encouraging physical activities among students  Promoting yoga and meditation for healthy mind • Also more complex technology like analytics can also be implemented to see if the child is happy/sad /attentive /not-attentive
  • 10. Monitoring System solution : Government Aide monitoring.  regular inspection by authorities of district level  Appointing a advisor who will ensure proper implementation of funds  Interacting with students to know the progress of facilities  In about 40% govt. schools, records are maintained manually. Though with AI , we can account the present of students of each date, other records need to be maintained. To overcome this problem, we use advanced database management system • For areas where technology is nil, we use those devices which run on batteries and solar power. • For maintenance we will contact ngos who are willing to come and help for maintenance.. • Access can be granted using e-sign and aadhaar number and every time database is accessed, reason need to be mentioned.
  • 11. Improving teaching staff Quality. • Teachers who have gained a senior level experience in there career can teach the primary school teachers about how they can teach more meaning fully and increase the efficiency. • Yearly and compulsory teachers assessment exams • Regular monthly skill workshop by teachers • Use of AI and video interaction technology in skill development workshop for teachers ,Teaching them new and better ways of explaining students in class • Use of technology for better interaction in class • Reducing teachers student ratio of 35:1 by hiring more of personnel • Training the new recruited teachers about various aspects, reducing training period and giving more importance to practical teaching by appointing new teachers to schools, training along practical learning by being in between students • Competitions can be held like Best school and best teacher which would be given financial aids.(District level) • Teachers appraisal and providing them chance for research and development activities
  • 12. Career Counselingmethodologyfor students accordingto their skills and interest. • Students should be encouraged to make drawing, painting, math's models, science models, craft, hand made sewing art which would be exhibited in a exhibition held by government every month in which people can buy the same. This would increase there level of thinking and creativity also as it would make them earn they would be happy to explore as well as there families. This would majorly help the government school kids who are financially not capable it would be one of the source of income and thus more kids would come to school. • Encouraging entrepreneurship by conducting exhibition • Conducting skills assessment exams , various competition etc. • Encouraging local craft works and providing them knowledge about scope in international market • Career counseling about different career opportunities – right from the type of entrance exam to be written to different scholarship available for the same • A campaign can be initiated like “Gift a book” to the government school to have a library facility. To encourage reading and writing • each year large number of students drop out in fear of paying high fee for future studies these students should be made aware about different opportunities other than main stream which are in media
  • 13. Parent - School Interaction model. • Parents, who do not get time to meet the teacher due to work commitments, can meet them by the booking option available in the website • Developing a digital platform for parents and teachers interaction, through teacher can send regular update about students performance , there score etc. • Developing feed back system • For the rural and remote areas where parents are not much aware about technology- conducting regular interaction sessions • For the above- conducting workshop for parents and children to make parents aware about the education the children are getting • Also conducting awareness workshop for parents by tying up with government organizations • Teaching value to students regarding being prompt with parents sharing with them regular activities of school, explaining parents the importance of education
  • 14. Improve Number of students attending schools on regular basis. • To increase the awareness about education to the rural people there- by increasing the enrolment in the govt school • To create positive opinion about the govt school in the peoples mind • Make educational revolution with the help of technology • Launching campaign to promote importance of education • Increasing reach of existing government schemes of sarva siksha abhiyan • Building new schools , getting new scholarship schemes for students
  • 15. #EACHONE_TEA CHONE #CSR in education #Make education great again #Crowd sourcing in education Campaign program Encouraging investment in schools by ex-alumni’s Developing a model through which the helping hands reach the needy students
  • 16. system to identify talents • Developing system for Critical thinking and problem-solving • Collaboration and leading by influence . • Developing a model through which students and teachers can be directly notified about various national level competitions like BrainX National Maths Contest , MaRRS International Spelling Bee Contest , International Math Olympiad and science olympiad, etc • encouraging student participation by telling them about the various aspects of participating in competition, its advantage and awards • Conducting various internal competition and interaction in class room to help students know about there strengths and weakness
  • 17. Integration of Vocational and skill development courses. • Getting different speakers to discuss with students about skills and development program • The video can be contributes by Education Industry expert /NGO’s/Corporates on an online portal which can have fresh content every year so that the child can learn new every year • Asking corporate houses and other training institution to conduct learning programs for students • Conducting skill development courses for students, encouraging craft building , pottery , agriculture and various other aspects among students • Encouraging creativity among students , by asking them to develop things in more creative ways
  • 18. Financial model: • Cost share and implementation: From FY 2010-11 till FY 2014-15, GOI contributed 65% of the total SSA funds. From October 2015, this has been revised to 60% with states contributing 40%. • Developing Baal Vikas School replacing the existing Anganwadi system (3-5 years): Transforming the Anganwadi system with better Infrastructure and new teaching styles. Teaching kids through plays, developing child interest towards learning in the early age.  Declining trend in enrolment to Government Schools is alarming situation, for underutilized SSA funds and creating difficulties to achieve Primary Education Goal of India.  Because of Poor Quality education irrespective of Government or Private Schools there is additional burden of private tuitions, which can be ignored if we can utilize allocated fund in a planned manner, which is possible with micro monitoring by Municipality or Gram Panchayats. • Motivating corporates to spend some percentage of CSR fund in developing the school infrastructure. Government should try to Develop all Primary school up to the same level of Standard and has to develop Competition between these schools.
  • 19. Financial model: Primary Education Budget Central Government 60% of Total State Government 40% of Total Municipality / Gram Panchayats
  • 20. Cost Model Breakup Cost Model Expenditu re Model Teachers Cost Schools Cost Children Cost Quality Education Managem ent Misc. Cost  Teachers Cost- which includes teacher salaries, teacher training and teacher learning materials or equipment.  Schools Cost - includes infrastructure expenses such as construction of civil works and maintenance grants  Children Cost - includes allocations that directly benefit children enrolled in school, such as transport allowance, uniforms, textbooks and mainstreaming activities to get out-of-school children back into school. In addition, reimbursement of per-child costs for 25 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections in private schools has been added to this category  Quality Education- covers largely untied monies for activities to improve learning, such as the learning enhancement programme and innovation grants to districts  Management - covers allocations related to administration and management activities  Miscellaneous - includes allocations made for community training and mobilization
  • 21. Financial model 1. Involvement of Municipality and Gram Panchayats for proper utilization of allocated funds. Every year it is under utilized hence we can not cultivate maximum output. 2. If any state is not utilizing the fund, it should be transferred to other States who can utilized in same fiscal year. In 2015-16 West Bengal spend the lowest % of total allocation. 3. Unutilized fund should be allowed for Solar Panel installation which will help schools to be dependent on Electricity power. Which will save cost in future also. 4. First Priority for Outgoing Finance will be on Teachers, because many states having vacant positions, it will help us to increase quality of education. 5. Every year based on circumstances, it is recommended to change the expenditure % to give weightage to other outgoing components.
  • 22. General management • Establishing a thoroughly reporting relationship by appointing heads at districts and regional level to ensure proper utilization of government funds and enrichment of teaching • Maintaining proper records of students and teachers and the same being thoroughly verified • Delegating authority of recruiting of teachers when in need • Establishing a network for smooth communication among all departments • Encouraging research and development
  • 23. Summary • Education has attained a key position in the knowledge society both at national and global level as well. Over the last two decades, India has remarkably transformed its higher education landscape. It has created widespread access to low-cost high-quality university education for students of all levels. • Unutilized fund should be allowed for Solar Panel installation which will help schools to be dependent on Electricity power. Which will save cost in future also. Every year based on circumstances, it is recommended to change the expenditure % to give weightage to other outgoing components. • Providing solar powered mini projector + speaker + tablet. For better interaction and monitoring activities • Having CCTV surveillance and installing latest technology based teaching module • Focus on skill based education. Reward creativity, original thinking, research and innovation Personalize education – one size does not fit all • implement massive technology infrastructure for education and Re- define the purpose of the education system
