WebEx provides an online meeting environment in which a presenter can communicate with the audience through powerpoint slides, word documents and screen sharing. It is thus a very useful environment for conducting online classes and discussion meetings. It has also tools such as chat and polling facilities which enhance the interaction between the presenter and the audience. The sessions can be recorded for future referencing. In this presentation I shall give a quick demonstration and share on my experience on using WebEx for my seminar classes.

A workshop about the ins and outs of assessment, including formative vs. summative assessment, and following each of Kirkpatrick's 4 levels, even in education, to produce higher-quality courses and programs that truly measure what they set out to measure.
Dynamic Digital Assignments was a workshop recently given for TESL Toronto's T4T Conference on January 31, 2015.
The goal was to offer advice on how to implement the use digital projects and assignments into an ESL lesson (and to use as many Star Wars references as possible).
A sampling of what was done when confronted with a class of ESL or EFL learners using Moodle. Blocks are a powerful means of facilitating on line and blended sessions as their visual characteristics allow easy location.
iCame, iSaw, iConquered: Introducing Faculty to the iPad, One Step at a TimeKaitlin Walsh
When University of Hartford faculty started using iPads, questions arose regarding how to make best use of the device in their teaching. Our approach was to focus on the iPad's functionality as a first step toward exploring best practices. This session will provide attendees with a faculty development framework for supporting tablet initiatives. Participants will be able to evaluate some of the key concerns of faculty iPad users and identify approaches for addressing these concerns.

Creative Strategy is the art of translating a unique business asset (called a brand platform) into an experience. This experience starts with a strong visual system: an ownable and easily recognizable form of branded communication that translates the brand platform into visual storytelling artifacts. The visual system and brand platform become alive through executions across various mediums such as interactive, print and digital campaigns.

PowToon is a cloud-based software for creating animated presentations and animated explainer videos. With PowToon you can create animated presentation tool. The creators of PowToon take a look at incumbent presentation tools like Power Point, focused only on a subset of its most widely used features, and then “ kicked them into high gear”.
Powtoon is Web-based animation software that allows users to create animated presentations by manipulating pre-created objects, imported images, provide music and user created voice-overs. Powtoon uses an Adobe Flex engine to generate an XML file that can be played in the Powtoon online viewer, export to YouTube or downloaded as an MP4 file. Powtoon is also available in Google Chrome store.
My presentation (20 minutes + 10 minutes Q&A) was a brief exploration of what worked and what did not work on a fully online, summer Pre-sessional course at the University of Sheffield, UK. Drawing on my experience of teaching private students online for several years and my role with the IATEFL Learning Technologies Special Interest Group, this is a first-hand account of being in the virtual classroom, teaching EAP classes remotely for the first time. Recording will be made available on the TEL SIG You Tube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVz0VVaVKALUK24CM2A4oJQ

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
