3. WHAT IS TEACHING
Teaching is define as the process of
carrying out activities that provide students
with experiences that can induce learning.
Teaching is merely to transmit information
and to help the students to master facts for
examination purpose, through lectures,
explanations, and illustrations.

4. TEACHING STYLES

6. Discipline- centred
It focuses more on the subject matter than on
what the teacher does. The main aim is to teach
content as prescribed in the syllabus or textbook
regardless of whether it meets the needs of the
students or not.

7. Teacher- centred style
In the teacher- centred style, the teacher is the
focus, acting as the “authoritative expert, the
main source of knowledge, and focal point of all
activity”
In such environment, student are passive learners
and they merely regurgitate content.
It allows for minimal teacher-student interaction.
It strength, however lies in the efficiency that is
achieved in communicating much information.

8. STUDENT CENTRED STYLES
A student centred styles allows for a dynamic
classroom product.
The focus is on the students, their cognitive
abilities and interest.
The teacher concern is how to make the students
take an active role in their learning by making
them to conduct their own investigations, develop
their ideas and share ideas with others through
discussion or collaborative work.
The instructional goals place more emphasis on
cognitive understanding and skills development,
than merely passing examinations.

9. STUDENT CENTRED TEACHING TECHNIQUES
Teaching technique are the different ways in
which a teacher presents information to be
learned.
student centre techniques are premised on the
learning styles theory of uniqueness of learners, the
active nature of learning and curiosity of young
learners. The range of teaching techniques for
creating a student-centred active classroom
atmosphere is listed and described below;

11. Classroom activities, instructional content and teaching
methods are selected to facilitate active learning,
encourage independent thoughts and critical thinking,
stimulate and promote positive attitude toward learning.

12. All style can stimulate learning if used
appropriately, although the student-centred style
lead to better retention; better problem solving,
better application of knowledge and better
motivation for learning.

13. whichever style a teacher adopts in teaching will
depends on how (s) he perceives her/his student in the
learning process. If perceived as an instructor, the teacher
will select teaching approaches that give an authoritative
role, whereas as a facilitator (s) he will prefer approaches
that introduce more flexibility and more student
engagement as co-creator in the learning process.

STUDY IS ONE DAY WITH A GREAT TEACHER
WHAT WE LEARN WITH PLEASURE WE NEVER
