Quincy Jones launched Vibe magazine in 1993 in partnership with Time Inc. as a music and entertainment magazine aimed at an urban audience aged 18-34 interested in R&B, hip hop, and rap. Though initially rumored to have Russell Simmons as a partner, the magazine had ownership changes over time, being bought by Miller Publishing in 1996 and The Wicks Group of Companies in 2006. Vibe announced in June 2009 that it would cease print publication.
