IPC Media was formed in 1963 through the merger of three leading UK magazine publishers. In 1968, IPC magazines was created to publish a variety of magazines. IPC publishes NME and Uncut, with NME originally a music paper that transitioned to a magazine format focusing on pop rock for 16-24 year olds, and Uncut launched in 1997 as a monthly magazine for 25-45 year old men focused on genres like rock and alternative country.
