The document discusses the target audience for a proposed dance music magazine. The target audience is teenagers and adults aged 15-30 who are interested in indie and dance music. The magazine will focus on the dance music genre and include images representing dance fashion to emphasize this. Its purpose is to entertain this audience and provide information about dance music, artists, and related topics. The target gender is unisex as both males and females enjoy dance music. The magazine aims to appeal to middle class readers with interests in dance music fashion and culture. Various features are discussed to motivate readers to buy the magazine, such as free gifts, gossip, quizzes and advertisements, with the proposed price of £2.99 based on research.
2. AUDIENCE/AGE
My target audience will be stereotypically aimed at teenagers and adults who
are interested in indie music. The age range would probably go from age 15 to
30. Stereotypically not many children or elderly listen to Dance music therefor I
intend to aim my music magazine at this specific age range.
3. GENRE
The genre of my music magazine will be Dance. I am going to make
the magazine include un voyeuristic images and use images that
represent dance fashion such as an individual with a Dance hairstyle,
like a messy up do, in order to emphasize that the genre.
4. PURPOSE
The purpose of my music magazine will be to entertain the audience and to
interest them. Its purpose is also to include information about my genre
which is dance, I am going to add an feature article photo of model with a
head set on that’s stood in front of a set of DJ decks, therefor the target
audience is obvious. And hopefully my music magazine will successfully fulfill
the purpose of entertaining an audience.
5. GENDER/CLASS
The target gender for my music magazine is unisex because both male and
females are into dance music, I know this because my friends who are male
and female all like dance music. The class of people who buy the magazine is
aimed at middle class people stereotypically. My magazine will also include
jargon suitable for the target audience that upper class citizens might not
understand, for example the word, ‘mint and fresh’ which are slang words for
good.
6. INTERESTS/FASHION
Stereotypically dance music lovers have certain interests such as having a
certain style for example, high wasted jeans and a patterned shirt. I took this
example from one of my friends who is into dance music. They are also known
stereotypically into having a slightly un neat hairstyle and wearing vintage
clothes.
7. MOTIVATION TO BUY
In my magazine I am going to include persuasive techniques in order for my
magazine to appeal to the target audience. For example I may include these
features in my music magazine in order to make my magazine appeal successfully
to the target audience:
Free give always
Gossip about dance music artists
Dance music quiz
Latest fashion trends
Advertisements for gigs and concerts
8. PRICE
The price of my magazine will be £2.99, I think that this is not to expensive in
comparison to other magazines which from my research go up to £9. I also think
that this price is suitable and affordable for my target audience therefor it
would be more likely to appeal the target audience to the magazine. I also did a
questionnaire and asked what price people would pay for an dance music
magazine, the most popular answer was £2.99.
