2. - The reason why I have chosen to use a song in the Indie / Rock
- Genre is because the target audience is primarily aimed at
the same age as me (16 – 20), therefore it will be easier to
come up with themes as I can see what people my age listen
to and themes they are interested in to give me ideas for my
video. With this genre the video's are usually low budget and
often shot in, public places such as public parks, city streets,
pub's. These are places in which I will be able to film easily
and are accessible to a school student.
- The genre of Indie / Rock just makes sense
for me to do as it is a genre I listen to
myself and is something I have knowledge
about. Not only this but the target
audience is ‘close to home’.
- If I had chosen the genre R&B for example the conventions for
that music video would be at either in the rough streets of
America, contrasting against the life of luxury, with big manor
houses, and expensive sports car's, which I don't have access
too. The videos tend to be more upmarket as the R&B genre has
bigger record labels and therefore more budget.

5. - My target audience is male and female. I would
say typically there may be more female listeners
than male. This is because of the ‘indie’ nature of
the artists within this genre.
- The demographic for both male and
female is about the same. The age
for a male target audience may be
higher between 18-22 whereas the
female may be between 15-22. For
male audiences it may be lower
because 15 to 17 year olds will be
more into rap/grime music as the
modern society changes. I know
this from personal experiences of
people my age. I tend to find
slightly older (18-22) enjoy more
indie/rock music.
- The psychographics for both
male and female are the same.
The male and female target
audience tend to have similar
interests I know this due to the
people I know who listen to this
genre and my own experiences.
6. - I handed out this survey
to 20 people to find out
what genre of music
people enjoy dependent
on their age and gender. I
did 10 males and 10
females. Here are my

- My results show me that, for a male audience
the typical age for people to listen to my genre is
18 – 21 year olds. As I predicated the slightly
younger (14 – 17) years olds will listen to more
Drum and Bass music as that is a ‘cool’ thing in
society these days. I know this due to my own
experience and people my own age. The older
generations tend to listen to more old school
music that is a ‘throwback style’.
- My female audience is more targeted at 14-17 year olds.
There is more female listeners than male based on my results.
However this was only 20 people and isn’t a fair amount of
people to test upon. But from my results it seems that my
main female target audience is 14 – 21 year old people.
