The filmmakers created a questionnaire to get audience feedback on aspects like target age and expectations before filming their short film. This helped them decide on a 15 rating and add comedic elements. They showed the finished film to students who enjoyed the concept and spoofing of another show but felt some scenes changed too quickly or were shaky. Getting audience perspective both before and after filming helped improve the film.

2. When first beginning to create a film we knew audience
feedback was completely crucial in order to create a
satisfactory piece up to the similar standards of some
existing short films.
We knew audience feedback would be our main
influence and end result to our film.
As we was aware we needed audience interpretation
prior our film we chose to create a questionnaire.
On the questionnaire we asked questions such as age
and gender, what they expected from a short film and
what the films certified age should be.
From using the questionnaire it helped us chose our
target audience. As the audience who responded to the
questionnaire preferred the film to be aged 15 we came
up with the decision to please our audience and set the
films certificate to a 15. This allowed us to add comedic
elements that featured slight profanities.

3. The choice of target audience also helped us decide the title of the piece
‘Educating Idiots’ and the pieces contents.

We chose to show a small fraction of sixth form the finished product and by their
faces they seemed quite satisfied and rather enjoyed watching the piece. From
asking them afterwards we found they enjoyed the concept of the film and its
comedic elements. They admired the fact we chose to spoof ‘Educating Yorkshire’
and the fact our title completely fit and was appropriate for the films contents
‘Educating Idiots’. I learnt from this that audience feedback is absolutely crucial
when first creating a film, or anything for that matter. They felt the costumes fit
with the scenes however some of the audience felt the scenes jumped too quick
from scene to scene and some of the filming was shaky. We also found that the
editing on the piece was a little to bright and contrasted. Audience feedback
allows you to connect with the audience as well as looking over what they have
advised and acting upon it. It is all about what the audience want, please the
audience.
My own feedback I would give on our piece
From watching our piece there was some things I would personally change for example time
management when sticking to the filming schedule. I found this highly reflected off of our
piece I could see the scenes we took less consideration into as we felt rushed, sometimes the
camera was handheld due to the tricky camera angles and you could see this in or final piece
as some scenes we shaky however apart from that as a group I am rather pleased with the
films outcome and the audience feedback helped us achieved the standard of this product.
